Such a short, sweet graphic novel about friendship and the way you'll go to bat for them. This was a breath of fresh air. It's so nice to see more disability and blind rep in novels. AND THE MUSIC REP? I LOVE.

I loved both Marie and Victor, and their friendship is so nice to see, especially in high school.

The only thing is that I wish it was longer. Like a lot longer.

My Heart in Braille is a beautiful story about two teenagers, Victor and Marie-Jo. Victor struggles with his subjects and getting in trouble at school, until he starts sitting next to Marie and she offers to work with him to help him. They develop a friendship, and later a relationship. Then Marie tells Victor that she is losing her sight, but it's a lot worse than her parents know and she doesn't want them to send her to a school for the blind. Victor offers to help her in return, as she needs to maintain her good grades in order to get into her dream school to pursue music.

I read this in one sitting whilst on an airplane and loved it! The drawing is beautiful, and the story is engaging. Despite only being 75 pages long, the authors managed to make me care about the characters and what happened to them, and root for them! If you like cute little graphic novels, definitely give this one a read!

A boy who tries his hardest meets a girl who succeeds effortlessly. The pair form a friendship that turns into love amid the girl's degrading eyesight.

A beautifully sad story about a pair trying their best to succeed despite the obstacles life has put in their way.

First of all, I adored the art style. It was unique, and there was such a comforting vibe present throughout the book. It also carries a great message of helping people with disabilities and not drowning in your problems alone. Overall, it’s such a cute autumn read. I can’t recommend it enough.

my heart in braille is a heartwarming tale that touches on themes of friendship, empathy, and the importance of breaking down barriers to connect with others. this graphic novel is the definition of short and sweet. the plot was easy to follow and quite simple, yet it was sincere and authentic. something about this book felt so comfortable, like i had a connection to it.

even though victor was supposedly the main character, i feel like the focus of the story was more about marie, a straight A student who's slowly losing her vision. with victor's complications in school, they both strike a deal to help each other. their friendship was very wholesome and pure. the author captured their growing bond wonderfully. i feel like i was actually with them in the story throughout the whole book. i felt their increasing understanding and compassion for each other as the story went on.

i was enthralled with how the disability rep was handled with such care and carefulness. it felt genuine, explorative, and fairly informative. however, i wished the author talked more about victor's struggles as well and not just marie's. from where i stand, victor's issues were sidelined in his own story, which to me seemed a bit odd. i really would've liked getting to know more about victor and the overall development of his character.

the art style was beyond beautiful. i really adored the color palette and how it captured every moment marvelously. the book was quite fast-paced and sometimes i feel like there were scenes that were cut off because the time jumps made me a bit confused. the flow wasn't the best and the pacing was unbalanced. overall, i think the author could've added more to the plot and the complexity of the story. anyway, this book was good but i definitely see some room for improvement.

I Loved It!

My Heart in Braille is such a stunning creation of wonderful storytelling and beautiful illustrations to match. This graphic novel is an adaptation of the original 2012 French romance novel Le coeur en braille by Pascal Ruter. Thank you to Europe Comics and NetGalley for the gifted copy!

This was such a heartfelt tale. I loved the two main characters and witnessing their individual journey to self discovery with a slight romantic twist. When we meet teenagers Victor and Marie-Jo, they are both on very unique paths. Victor has a love for classic cars and rocking out with his garage band. He finds school and his focus there to be quite an issue. Marie-Jo is about as opposite of Victor as they come. She's a straight-A music student with goals and dreams to pursue. On a fateful day in class, they have an exchange that keeps their paths crossed. Victor, with Marie-Jo's help sees an immediate improvement at school and with his focus overall. But when Marie-Jo feels compelled to share a secret with him, it'll be his turn to return the favor and rescue her in a real way.

It is a shorter book but it is so good! I highly recommend.

I absolutely loved this book. It made me want to read the original French version but Alas I don't speak French. I loved the illustrations, they were beautiful and the storyline was even more beautiful. I will definitely be recommending it to my fellow booklovers.

The art style is gorgeous and the colour palette is lovely. I wish the story was longer and the characters and the romance had more time to develop. I felt like it skipped some steps which confused me, it was very disjointed at times. I also didn't enjoy the lack of seeing Victor growing into himself, not just his love and relationship with Marie.

This was so stinkin’ cute! I loved seeing the friendship blossom between Victor and Marie-Jo. I’m so glad I picked this up!

This was pretty good, but would have been way better had it been longer. It was also confusing to read at times, so confusing in fact that I thought there were pages missing multiple times... Still, I liked the disability rep. Would have just liked it to be longer and clearer.

This weekend I read this wonderful and beautifully illustrated graphic novel.
It’s based on the 2012 french novel Le coeur in Braille, it tells the story of Victor, who is struggling in highschool as he befriends Marie-Jo, a gifted cello player. Initially she helps him get his grades up, but as they get closer, she reveals she is rapidly going blind and enlists him to be her cover at school.

I loved seeing the sweet relationship develop between the teens. My only draw back was how Victor hid his interest from her with the fear of feeling less-than and embarrassed, but then this never gets adressed again. He never truly opens himself up and just absorbs her love for her music but he never shares his music with her.
The illustrations are truly remarkable. Overall I recommend this one.

The graphic novel follows Victor and Marie-Jo. after striking up an unlikely friendship, Victor makes a discovery about Marie-Jo and help her out.

The story was appealing and heartwarming however didn’t hit the spot for me. The pacing in the novel felt off and confusing but maybe this was just me. It felt like some areas were added for no necessary reason and didn’t add anything to the story. The illustrations were beautiful.

I normally fly through graphic novels. Unfortunate the font was driving me crazy & I found myself needing to take breaks. I found the font hard to read, not easy to read. The plot & the artwork are why I am giving this 4 stars instead of 3. Very very sweet story, felt a little underdeveloped.

Such a sweet story, I had a tear or two by the end. Victor is a really honest character. He's so cheeky but all he truly wants is to do well and make people proud. Meeting Marie-Jo opens up his world a bit and gets him trying new things and making a huge effort to learn. The art is soft and beautiful.

A cute graphic novel about Victor who thinks he’s not good at anything. He was failing all his classes until he met Marie and they started studying together. They both started to fall in love but with time Marie tells him that she has a degenerated eye disease that has been getting worse along the years. Victor then helps her make her dream come true.

I can’t say much except it’s so cute how determined Victor is, making it in end having Marie telling him that he’s not useless that he helped her. Something some people need to hear from time to time. Except he didn’t only helped her he motivated her to keep going and not giving up on her dream and even when the situation was critical and he thought they wouldn’t make it, he convinced himself it was gonna be okay, he’s friend helped him then making everything go into place.

The story is about Victor and Marie-Jo. Victor loves vintage cars and singing with his garage band, but school is just not his thing. He always seems to say the wrong thing and he feels miserable often. But then he meets the cello-playing, straight-A student Marie-Jo. They form an unlikely friendship and come to care a lot for each other. So much, that Marie-Jo eventually confides in Victor and asks for his help. Before long both of them get good grades and Victors attitude improves. After a while Marie-Jo tells Victor about her secret and that it’s getting worse by the day. She needs his help, desperately, if she wants to achieve her dream.

This is a very lovely graphic novel which is an adaptation of the original French romance novel Le Coeur en Braille by Pascal Ruter. There’s also an English translation, called A Friend in the Dark. To understand this title, you should definitely read the book.

I enjoyed reading this book for many reasons. I loved the art of the graphic novel, which was beautiful done by illustrator Anne-Lise Nalin. Besides that the story had a heartfelt message and I loved how they portrayed a disability as something special in a good way and not as something to hold you back. I think that sends a strong message. Furthermore I just really liked the chemistry between Victor and Marie-Jo. A must-read it is for anyone enjoying graphic novels with a message.

I was so excited to get into this fasnicating comic that i've had my eye on for ages, but I was unexpectedly dissapointed. While i loved the main characters, i found the comic to be very short, rushed (with some scenes that were so unnecessary & only dragged the plot furthur) and lowkey just okay?? Unfortunately this wasn't my cup of tea.

This is just so adorable!!! 😍 My Heart in Braille is a sweet coming-of-age graphic novel about friendship, passion, and first love. I love the artstyle so much!! The artist utilized colors to cleverly reflect the mood of the story. The compositions of each panels also helped in moving the plot and illustrating character developments. I found this story to be enjoyable. I liked the relationship between Victor and his dad and I thought the romance was so cutee!! 💕 However, I still felt like it could've been better. The pacing was a bit off and the dialogue fell flat. This book didn't make me feel anything nor did it left any lasting impression on me.
