The plot of this book had me hooked and I thought i would enjoy it, but i really didn’t and i was disappointed.
Ok i admit i like sex in my romance books but i like sex that has emotion and put in in the right places not just shoved in out of the blue with no emotion just because.
The characters were not endearing and got be honest if i had never read this book I would not have missed anything
And one other thing buttons of clothes flying off all over the place in multiple scenarios i think they need to think of different clothes to wear
This book states it is part one i the series i for one will not be completing this series. Sorry
Thank you Netgalley for a copy for an honest review
Great read interesting story, love the passion behind the characters and the surprising twist just when you think it's over!.
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC review
Jasper is a billionaire to save his inheritance he has to marry. Sound familiar yes it's very much like Terms and Conditions by Lauren Asher which by the way I rated five stars.
I can't say I thought that in just 109 pages, the author could provide truly well developed characters.
I did like Ivy and Jasper both likeable characters, however I found it utterly strange that an artist of high moral standards and integrity would agree to an engagement and a marriage within a week or two of meeting said Jasper. I kind of found the book slow and can't help thinking that if it had been a meatier book, it'd more than likely get a higher rating as it all seemed rather rushed.
Kerry Kennedy author
A steamy romance but lacking in depth. Easy to read but you get though it very quickly and I felt the storyline was hurried. It just left me wanting more details.
Honestly.I found this confusing to read at times.there was focus on non main characters at times and then less focus on areas which should have more focus.also typos.sorry.I wanted to love it.
Bet With A Billionaire....
Right in the title of this book, you can tell it will be a good one. Especially if you like the marriage of convenience trope! I love it. What starts as a bet with friends becomes more for both Jasper and Ivy.
Ivy a struggling artist get a big break when she offered a job to paint murals for Jasper Frost. Jasper enters a bet with his friends and proposes a fake relationship with Ivy.
Ivy starts to develop deep feelings for Jasper. But Jasper just isn't on the same page and doesn't seem to have the love that Ivy deserves. She knows she doesn't want her heart to be broken but wants to help Jasper. Jasper needs this fake relationship to become a fake marriage or marriage of convenience to not only win this bet but to keep his inheritance because his grandfather is threatening to cut him off if he doesn't get married soon.
This story is told from Ivy's perspective, so jump in and enjoy. Ivy is one heroine I just grew to love. Jasper took a little warming up but in the end he wins you over as well.
Thanks to NetGalley for providing the ARC!
🌟🌟🌟/5
Bet With A Billionaire is a marriage of convenience romance with a lot of potential.
Ivy is a very spiritual artist that, like every artist, wants to express herself at her fullest.
Jasper is a billionaire with big dreams that want to do something for himself without his controlling grandfather having a say in it.
Jasper needs an artist for some murales inside his house and thanks to her manager/best friend/friend with benefit Finn Ivy has an in.
For me this book has a real nice base for a story with the marriage of convenience/billionaire boyfriend trope.
The main problem for me was that this book needs 30% more of content. Usually books can be very long and boring, filled with fluffy stuff that does nothing for the story. In this case it is the exact opposite. The author bounces a lot in the story. We don't know what is this bet he did up until half of the book, the interaction between Jasper and Ivy are very few and far between and she is already in love. Also where is the tension? she is super hot for the guy but describes more her best friend and her husband than Jasper dynamics. Also the story about Ivy mother comes around the 60% of the book out of nowhere.
Overall I didn't hate it but it definitely need more content/context/interaction in between the protagonists.
DNF after CH1
There was much promise - billionaire romance, fake dating, marriage of convenience - what is there not to love?
The quality of writing, it seems.
The command of the language is the boat on which great ideas set sail; and this boat is full of holes.
The tense choice led to clunky sentences. The sentences themselves were running on and on whilst repeating information that sometimes contradicted itself.
The chapter opened with a strange reflection on brush strokes that was very rambly and stream of conscious-like.
Ivy, the FMC, was presented in such a pessimistic, negative, light that her complaining of her situation did not endear me to her at all, in fact I found her quite a chore to be in the head of.
I skimmed the rest of the book, and unfortunately the writing did not pick up.
As I DNF'd, I will not be posting this review externally.
I love reading new to me authors and especially love giving new authors a chance. This was a tough book to rate for me because if I used my extreme dislike for the main character, Ivy, it would be a 1 star. My love for the MMC, Jasper, and his actions (even the bet had me intrigued) would be a 5 star. Was it a perfectly written story? Not really. There are some tense switches within the story that spun my head a bit. And my notes regarding Ivy and Caroline and Finn are all over the place. Very dysfunctional friends in my opinion. In any case, it was a good storyline for the most part.
This was a DNF at 16%. It felt underworked and too conversational for me. It felt like a journal entry. It was good grammatically.
I’m also not a fan of fade to black and I should’ve looked further to see if it was open door or not. I will not be posting my review externally.
