This book was so intriguing, it kept me gripped & on the edge of my seat the whole way through! Definitely recommend you won't be disappointed!
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.
This was an ok book. It was a bit predictable when it came to being a thriller and just didn't have many surprises. Just didn't live up to what I expect out of a good suspense or thriller.
The blurb on this looked really promising. It looked like the kind of thriller I love. Unfortunately I could not get into it at all. I did finish it but could have easily put it my DNF pile. So unbelievable. Would you really just go off with a stranger you just met in a deserted underground station?! I really don't think so. Such a shame as it started well but then I struggled to finish.
From the blurb, this sounded really interesting, sadly it didn’t deliver. It was quite slow going, the writing a bit heavy at times and the characters not that believable. Unfortunately I didn’t finish it.
I stopped reading this one about half way through. Sadly, it was super boring! It started off strong like most thrillers, and then fell completely flat. I am unsure how this book was even classified as a thriller. Chapters upon chapters of nonsense and boring filler. There was absolutely nothing going on.
There were also way too many different POVs. This made the book confusing. Also, these perspectives added nothing or very little to the overall plot.
Thank you Storm Publishing and NetGalley for the copy in exchange for an honest review.
This was an enjoyable read, but I felt the ending was left with too much unresolved.
The tension built well throughout and I was intrigued by the relationship between sisters, Ellen and Roseanna, and mystified by Matt and Carl.
A promising storyline that was a bit of a letdown at the end for me.
3 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Deidre Palmer and Storm, for an ARC in return for an honest review.
Highly exciting read! A emotional drama filled story that had me racing to get to the unbelievable conclusion.
I have such mixed feeling about this one. The story just felt like it was all over the place. I could easily put it down and pick it up again.
If you want to read a book that is hard to put down and that grips you from the very first page. This is the book! It draws you in and keeps you hooked!
Ellen and Rosanna are sisters. Rosanna is fun loving girl while Ellen worries a lot about little things. Rosanna falls in love with a married man named Matt and gets pregnant with his child but Matt leaves her. Ellen meets Matt on the train and while in the train, Ellen accidentally kills Matt--and that's how the story starts. I found the plot pretty intriguing. I liked the author's writing style and loved how it ended for each character.
Thank you NetGalley for the advance reader copy in exchange for my honest feedback. While this book did not grab me and pull me in emotionally, it was still a nice and interesting read.
The Girl in the Dark is a clever and gripping thriller that keeps the reader guessing. The story explores themes of guilt, anger, revenge and toxic relationships and with its atmospheric settings, I was gripped from the outset. 5 stars!
Bit of a slow burn for me but plenty of twists to keep me reading :)
I really enjoyed this and look forward to more from the author
Not a bad read. A decent storyline however as i was expecting a psychological thriller this fell short as it was more of a drama. Well written and it was interesting
I thought this book was alright. It didn’t keep my attention as well as I would’ve liked but it was well written and had a good plot.
What a psychological thriller this book was. Lots of twists and turns in the story. However i did struggle with some of it as bit unbelievable. I did enjoy the book. . Thanks Netgalley and publishers for the opportunity to read it
This story was so hard for me to get through. I got this book as an arc and I’m leaving this review voluntarily.

Synopsis:
As the January wind whips down the stairs to the train platform, Ellen Randall huddles into her coat, shivering. Suddenly, a flash of red catches her eye and she turns. It’s a scarf. Red and cream, in a large, checked pattern. And the person wearing it— No! It can’t be…
Three weeks later. In the dimly lit depths of the abandoned station, an eerie silence hangs heavily in the stale air, wrapping around the young man like an invisible shroud. Every step he takes echoes through the tunnels. Cautiously, he ventures deeper into this forgotten place.
His pulse quickens as he stumbles upon her, a small figure huddled in a worn sleeping bag. The girl looks cold, hungry and very frightened. Carefully, he approaches her. “Please tell me how I can help you.” His voice is gentle. She meets his eyes, and his heart twists with worry and protectiveness. If someone’s hurt her—
Then, she laughs; a ripple of sound that rises to the arched roof and echoes around them. “I killed somebody,” she says. “And, before you ask, I meant to do it...”
I had hopes for this book because it sounded quite interesting, but the storyline, plot, and characters didn't really come together or flow well.
The progress of the story felt disjointed and the ending wasn't the best.
The plot started off great, but became muddled and with the plot being centered around Ellen, what was supposed to be the turning point didn't actually involve her.
While I enjoy multiple character povs, a few of them were random and didn't make sense with the story overall.
With that being said, The Girl in the Dark had great potential it just needed a bit of polishing.
Thank you, Netgalley and Storm Publishing, for providing me with this Arc in exchange for an honest review.
I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.
Ellen Randall is homeless and living in an abandoned train station but why? What has she done to bring her to this point? This is a book of many thrills, twists and turns and will keep you reading from start to finish so you can piece it all together.
This is a book about actions and consequences, about the London underground, about living life on the edge. It is a book that keeps you wanting more as you just don't know what is going to happen next. But I must say that it can be a bit of a slow burn but you just have to stick with it.
The subject matter is interesting as is the authors notes at the end. I would definitely give this one a 3 1/2 stars.
Thank you NetGalley and Storm Publishing for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
