Warm-hearted, hilarious and feel-good, Another Time, Another Place is a gorgeous romantic read from Jo Lovett.
When Liv had tried to rescue a cat in distress with gorgeous stranger Ben, she never imagined that she would find herself locked in a shed – or that she would find herself in such close proximity to the perfect man for her! Ben is kind, handsome, intelligent and somebody she would love to a future with – if only Liv wasn’t moving to Paris the next day and Ben didn’t have a girlfriend!
Liv has resigned herself to the fact that Ben just wasn’t the man for her and as she puts all of her focus and energies into making a success of her new life, she resolves to forget all about him. However, fate seems to have a twisted sense of humour as over the years Liv and Ben find themselves weaving in and out of one another’s lives leaving them to wonder whether the universe is trying to tell them something…
Will Liv and Ben ever find their way to one another permanently? Will they take charge of both their futures and fight for what they truly want? Or will they just have to accept the fact that destiny does not want them to be together?
Jo Lovett’s Another Time, Another Place is an enthralling romantic comedy about missed opportunities, second chances and life’s many unexpected surprises that will make you giggle and have you reaching for the tissues as well. Uplifting, emotional and bursting with hope and heart, Another Time, Another Place is an enjoyable charmer that will delight and satisfy romantics and cynics alike.
I enjoyed Liv and her relationship with her sister. I liked Ben as a ‘leading man’. I loved their random run ins over the years. But their communication was frustrating in their later meetings and I honestly did not agree with the reasons they had not to be together. It felt like making something to make them be apart but if they only communicated, they could have overcome all the various issues. Also, would have liked to see more of the relationship building and foundation as opposed to just their inner monologues about being into each other. I think that could have helped build tension a bit more. We know they are getting together but I wanted to see and feel the build. Overall, it was a fun and easy read. Liv’s strength and character during the later part of the book really made it.
"Another Time, Another Place" by Jo Lovett is a captivating and bittersweet tale of missed connections and the enduring power of love.
Liv and Ben's chance encounter in a shed sparks an instant connection that feels like destiny. However, their timing couldn't be worse, with Ben already in a relationship and Liv on the brink of moving to Paris. Despite their undeniable chemistry, fate seems determined to keep them apart as their lives take them on separate paths.
Lovett's writing is both poignant and evocative, capturing the heartache of missed opportunities and the longing for what could have been. As Liv and Ben's lives intersect over the years, readers are drawn into a rollercoaster of emotions, rooting for them to overcome the obstacles standing in their way.
"Another Time, Another Place" is a beautifully crafted love story that explores the complexities of timing and fate. Lovett's characters are richly drawn, their struggles and triumphs resonating with authenticity and depth. As the narrative unfolds, readers are left pondering the timeless question of whether true love can withstand the test of time.
I have loved reading this book. I got into it straight away and I enjoyed the ending. I look forward to reading more by this author.
Another Time, Another Place is a super adorable story told throughout different times & it kicks off with a super cute meet-cute! I loved it!
In this captivating love story, Liv and Ben's initial encounter in an abandoned building sparks instant attraction, but life's timing complicates their connection. Fate continues to intertwine their paths over eight years, leading to a series of encounters and missed opportunities. Finally acting on their feelings during wedding celebrations, Ben confesses his love, only to disappear abruptly. Liv, determined to find closure, faces the challenge of unraveling Ben's mysterious secrets. As Liv grows into a confident woman, the slow-burning chemistry between them becomes palpable. Despite frustrating misunderstandings, the story explores the resilience of love at first sight. With compelling characters and a hidden secret, this novel is a must-read for those who believe in fate and enduring connections.
This is a very entertaining read with a lovely plot that was nice to read and contained different twists and turns. Liv and Ben are wonderful characters and they carried the story well. It was a joy to get to know them and follow their story, if a little frustrating as they kept missing each other. But that element is what kept me hooked to the end. This was just a really nice read.
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for an advance copy.
This was an absolutely charming story by a new-to-me author. Liv and Ben have an adorable meet cute when they try to rescue a cat and get locked in a shed together. During that time, they learn a lot about each other and really connect and you can feel the sparks between them. But unfortunately, the timing isn't right for them because it turns out Ben has a girlfriend. When they meet again over the years, the stars still don't seem to align for them, because one or the other is always in a relationship. But there is no denying the strong bond they share and the sparkling chemistry between them. Despite how perfect they are for each other, it doesn't seem to be in their fate to be together. Or does it?
This was a thoroughly enjoyable book and I had a really nice time reading it. The characters were well-developed and endearing and I found myself rooting for them the whole time. The storyline flowed smoothly and reminded me a little of Love Rosie or the movie One Day, both of which I really enjoyed. A very sweet and charming story!
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

This book was super cute and original.
I really enjoyed it!!!!!
Liv is a fun character. Her and Ben through the years is so fun to read and how they see each other and come back together.
This book started off great but it lagged around the middle and became drawn out. It becomes repetitive with way too many missed opportunities. While it had potential there was not enough to keep the reader interested. This is a miss for me. It was too long and drawn out to recommend.
I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Could not put this down. The narrative was gripping and I just HAD to know why Liv and Ben couldn’t be together 💔
As with all novels that include fate as such a main theme and feature missed chances over a long timeline, it was actually really sad at times! My heart broke for both of them as their connection was tangible from the beginning, but especially for Liv as she was always left so confused and frustrated. These two were written in a way that made so obviously meant to be ❤️
What to expect:
- missed chances over 8 years
- meet cute - locked in together
- kind of love at first sight
- soulmates
- fertility issues
- closed door ish - still 🔥
Another Time, Another Place by Jo Lovett was a delightful contemporary romance book that would be perfect as a beach read.
Strangers Liv and Ben, met in a hut and surprisingly year after year they keep meeting coincidentally or fatefully. One night turns into a week but with big secrets comes unexpected turns.
I loved the chemistry between Liv and Ben, it was those cute awkward moments that did it for me. Should they say hello, or join each other for dinner or drinks?
Plenty of laughs, the ending was a bit expected but had a nice twist.
Thanks Jo Lovett, Netgalley and Boldwood Books for the digital copy of Another Time, Another Place for reviewing purposes.

Sigh. What a delightful will they won’t they Romance novel. I loved all the characters and I loved the timeline. This was a very quick read. I read it in a day, in between errands. I couldn’t put it down!
Such a sweet book. Liv and Ben come in and out of each other's lives for 8 years, but it is never truly the right time for them to be together. I wish Ben's character and the reasons for his actions were flushed out a bit more; however, I still loved reading this book.
I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for my unbiased and honest opinion.
