Another Time, Another Place was a super quick and cute romance for me, I blasted through in a couple of evenings.
Liv and Ben are the couple and while there is dual POV I found Liv to be more dominating in the storytelling with mystery being around Ben. They meet by chance while rescuing a cat and for years afterwards they find themselves meeting randomly and thinking about each other when they're apart.
While I enjoyed this and read it quite easily, I did find it a bit repetitive and I was frustrated for the characters! I think this would have worked better as a novella to be able to cut out or shorten some meetings and have less mooning (especially at the beginning). Once I had settled into the story it was good and I enjoyed the narrative style and the will they/won't they question as well as the overall development of the characters as it felt natural and satisfying.
Liv and Ben have their “meet cute” moment when they follow a cat into a shed and get stuck in there for hours until they get rescued. They learn a lot about each other while they’re trapped, and there’s no denying that there’s a spark between them, but the problem is, Ben has a girlfriend.
The years go by and Liv and Ben bump into each other at various events and one or the other is involved in a relationship so they can never pursue the spark that still flickers when they see each other. Will the stars ever align so they can be together?
I adored this gem of a book. It made me smile, it made me misty, and I was cheering for them to get together the whole time! They were great characters that you couldn’t help but root for.
Perfect for a beach read or a rainy day with a cup of tea.
Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for this eArc in exchange for my review.
This authors books just keep getting better and better.
This was. Fabulous escapism read that I pretty much read in a day. The characters are engaging and
The story is told from the two main characters
Ben and liv’s point of view. The story is about serendipity and fate and of
Missed
Opportunities but also covers some real life sensitive issues.
Looking forward to
Seeing what this author writes next.
I am new to Jo Lovett but I am so glad I read this, it was such an enchanted read I devoured in one afternoon. The narrative is so sweet and I was pulled in instantly. The main characters Liv and Ben are beautifully written and their personalities and chemistry jump off the page. I was so sad when this book ended and I think there is scope for a sequel/Novella if you love heartwarming romantic comedies this is perfect.
Devour this book in one sit and one day (finally after a long time!) because of the plot is so engaging and keep making me curious on what would happened between Liv and Ben. I think I'm so rooting for Liv because I can relate a lot to her narration/monologue? It's both funny and adorable. The storyline feels fresh and new too! The emotional ride I got from the fluttering first meet (cute?), to the gushy feelings when you know your crush has someone else and you're not meant to be but you can't move on from him/her yet, to the butterflies rushing on your stomach when you finally have a chance of being together. It's full package one! The third act--I definitely didn't saw it coming and almost cursed at some part (which is understandable why it happened, but i still felt liv's heartbreak all over it). Overall. it's a entertaining and adorable love story to follow!
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC of this book for an honest review.
While "Another Time, Another Place" presents a tantalizing premise of star-crossed lovers and the enticing allure of missed opportunities, I found it teetering on the repetitive side. As a reader drawn to tales of wrong timings and missed chances, I eagerly dove into the lives of Liv and Ben. However, it didn’t take long before the story started to feel like a broken record, with scenarios playing out in familiar patterns over and over again.
There's no denying that Lovett has a way with words, and the initial encounters between the protagonists had me hooked. But as the narrative progressed, the excessive miscommunication between the two became hard to overlook. It felt as if the characters were being forcibly kept apart by contrived misunderstandings rather than genuine circumstances, making it harder to root for their eventual reunion.
That said, for those who can overlook the repeated plot devices and are in it purely for the romance and the journey, there is still some charm to be found. However, for me, the frequent missed connections and communication lapses took away from what could have been a heartwarming tale of love finding its way.

The best people in life are worth the wait... When Liv finds herself locked in a shed with handsome stranger Ben (after they try to rescue a cat together), the instant connection they make feels like fate had a hand in it. Has Liv finally found her perfect match? But everything about the timing means there’s no way they can be together. Not least because Ben has a girlfriend and Liv is moving from London to Paris the next day. Over the coming years their paths weave in and out of each other’s lives – together, but always fleetingly. If only they could stop missing each other, who knows what fate may have in store for them…
My Opinion
I think this is the third book I have read by Jo Lovett and what an adorable read it was. I really enjoyed how Liv and Ben bonded whilst trapped in a shed- you really have to read it just to discover how that happened. I read the majority of this book in just a few hours as I was determined to not put it down. It grabbed me right from the start and didn't let go until the very end.
Liv and Ben crossed paths for eight years and Lovett has told a delightful story about what happened each time they crossed paths. A joy to read and a lovely escape from reality.
Rating: 4/5
This is a light-hearted and perfect summer read. With interesting characters and a good storyline. It also has some good laugh out loud moments.
Thank you Netgalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC in return for my honest review.
Liv and Ben - one chance encounter trying to rescue a cat - sets off a chain of events that last eight years.
Liv meets Ben. She is instantly attracted to him. He seems to be attracted to her. They get locked in a shed and after two hours of sharing her innermost thoughts, issues, etc. she finds out he has a girlfriend (what a jerk!).
This story is all about missed chances, miscommunication (Ben and Liv do not communicate well together) and lots of feelings. When Liv and Ben decide to give themselves "just one night" - - things don't go as planned.
Ok. So this is a bit of a romantic-mystery. Ben has secrets that he is keeping and so while we try to figure it all out, Liv is really confused. If you read Beth O'Leary's "The No Show" - this is a similar type of book. Not an all-right romance: but romance is the underlying theme that keeps the story going.
I don't want to give too much away - but this was super cute. I loved both Ben and Liv. I wish Ben's POV had been shared more often (it's dual POV but not 50/50)- and because it's mostly Liv's story, you really feel like you are in the dark about 90% of the book.
This was a quick read: lots of fun, quick paced and has you cheering for our protagonists to find their HEA.
Recommended. This should make you smile.
Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from NetGalley. I've really enjoyed Jo Lovett's previously books, so was pleased to be invited to read this. Unfortunately this book fell a bit flat for me. While I liked Liv and many of the supporting characters, didn't take to Ben and as such, wasn't invested in their romance. I enjoyed the concept however, and Lovett tackled some difficult themes well.
I would firstly just like to say a big thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources who very kindly forwarded me an arc copy of this book, for my kindle, in return for my honest review.
Another Time Another Place is billed as a brand-new, page turning, feel-good, romantic comedy and if that doesn’t pull you in and make you want to read it I don’t know what will!!
When finding themselves trapped in a shed together, Liv and Ben realise that they have a connection but due to both their circumstances they were sadly not meant to be.
Cue a story that spans across eight years and the big question is, will they end up together??
Every time Liv and Ben crossed paths they had wonderful chemistry and I absolutely loved it!
Such a wonderful, emotional read and I loved that it was told from a dual point of view too…….
I was obsessed with Liv and Ben’s near-misses after their first meeting getting locked in a shed together when they go in to rescue a trapped cat.
They were so adorable together and each time they bumped into one another, I was hoping that this would be it and they would finally get together.
Jo Lovett does a fantastic job eking things out and managing to keep the reader invested all the while, and I think the way she chose to end the book was perfect.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The writing and humor was good, but overall, it fell a bit flat for me. After a great start, the story really dragged and was just so repetitive. All the frustration the MC expressed at the end, echoed my own frustrations with the storyline.
Liv finds herself locked in a hut with a stranger, Ben, who she feels a sudden attraction to. This is the start of occasional meetings over the years.
I found myself being drawn into this story, with the story mainly being told from Liv's point of view but occasionally from Ben's. Liv obviously feels deeply about Ben, which is reciprocated, but there is something preventing them from getting together. There were moments of humour, some (non-explicit) spicy moments but an overall feeling of suspense whilst waiting to find out the reason for Ben's reluctance to take their relationship any further. In summary a book that I really enjoyed the more I read, an ideal read for someone looking for something different.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book.
Liv and Ben first meet 8 years previously when they are trapped inside a hut near a recycling centre. The book follows their stories throughout the 8 years where their lives keep colliding with each other. They keep meeting when one or the other is with someone else, and whilst it's obvious that they both like each other, nothing can ever happen!
I enjoyed this book and liked both of the characters. I have to admit however to liking Ben more than Liv and did feel that Liv, at times, was awful to Ben when she was trying to push her feeling for him aside. Their relationship though was cute and I found myself rooting for them to end up together, but as we know the course of true love never runs smoothly and while we follow their lives we also get to see all the obstacles put before them.
Telling their stories from both Ben and Liv's perspective, the storyline flowed along well and I found myself connecting with all the characters. There were some fun parts and some more emotional moments, but their stories had me hooked to the last page wondering if we would ever see a happy ending for them. This is a perfect summer read which I would definitely recommend!
After reading some of Jo’s work previously I knew I would enjoy this book but wow!
Liv meets Ben when they both accidentally get locked into a hut near a recycling centre. Trapped together for hours, they enjoy meaningful conversations and flirty banter. Just as Liv thinks this could be the meet cute of her life, Ben reveals he has a girlfriend. So that is that….or is it?
Set over many years, this is the story of Liv and Ben and their many coincidental meet ups and what transpires each time. Told mainly from Liv’s POV but occasionally Ben’s too, I loved this book.
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read and review.
Liv is lovely, and totally fine. She meets a man and has an instant connection with him, but she’s moving to Paris and he has a girlfriend. Over the next few years their paths cross more and more and she continues to question what could have been.
I enjoyed Liv, and Ben was totally fine too. I didn’t feel the immediate connection in the shed. When it said they had been flirting with one another I questioned it and asked myself “really, how did I miss that.
?” Maybe I’m the problem and not the story though.
Gorgeous, amazing, fun!!!
Thank you soooooo much netgalley, the author and the publisher for the advanced review copy if this book💗
"I voluntarily read and reviewed the book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.”
I found this an enjoyable read. The story of Liv and Ben’s original meeting was fun and the author kept you guessing for a long time throughout the novel as to the reasons for their situation. I recommend this novel as an intriguing read that is difficult to put down. Thanks to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for an ARC or this novel.

I needed a break from the psychological novels I usually read and this one was perfect. I was captivated by the characters, plot and cute romance. I enjoyed the dual POV. I recommend this summer romance. Such a cute book
