Great storyline and character development made this book a hot and enjoyable read!
Extremely entertaining, captivating and interesting sexy read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong, intriguing characters. I want to read more from this author.

This met all my cute, romantic, cheesy, butterfly inducing, cringe and laugh-out-loud criterias for a good romcom. Loads of funny banter and heartwarming declarations. This book brings you friends to lovers, sunshine x sunshine (they are both such bright sunny people, even though they have some personal issues that they slowly begin to work on together), close proximity and brothers bestfriend tropes. I love Caseys quirkiness and just how freaking adorable she is, Gareth is the golden retriever you want to snuggle up to on the couch and just hug. I just want to give him a big hug and say that everything’s gonna be alright. They both deserve the world, and they fit so extremely well together. Caseys family dynamic is also so hilarious, man I would want to sit in o family dinner with them 😂

Kilt to Order kicks off a brand new series, Kilt Trip, about Highland Games athletes but is adjacent to the King’s Creamery series. Both take place in tbr small town of Crowder TX but you don’t need to read King’s Creamery first (but you should read it because it’s great!)

Casey is a twenty eight year old virgin who has basically never been kissed. When she decides she wants to change that status once and for all, she enlists her best friend and roommate Gareth to be her reluctant coach.

Susannah Nix is one of the funniest romcom authors I’ve read. Kilt to Order had many laugh out loud moments throughout. I loved the chemistry between Casey and Gareth, and how obvious it was that they were into each other from the start. The third act conflict was so well done, and there’s no real breakup. I loved seeing Casey embrace Gareth’s fears and not hold them against him when he made a less than ideal choice.

Recommended for all romcom readers and especially those that enjoy: 🏘️ small town romance 👦brother’s best friend ✨ omg they were roommates 🚒 kilted firefighter agrees to give bookish virgin love lessons 🗣️🗣️ dual pov 🤭 best friends to sex lessons to lovers 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Highland Games athletes found family 👷‍♂️ he falls hard 🤫 everyone knows they’re into each other but them 🪝”I don’t want to be off the hook. I like being on your hook.”

Kilt to Order by Susannah Nix is the first book in this series and it is a really strong book 1! Our heroine is Casey, a a 28 years old virgin. She wants to get rid of her virginity, so she asks her friend/roommate, Gareth, to help her. Gareth is handsome, experienced, and a wonderful friend, so she knows she would be safe to ask him. It takes a while to get Gareth on board, but once they start down that path, this book really takes off.

This book is really good and many of the longer reviews have really summed it up very well, so I won't post a long review. I cannot wait for the next book in the series, I am bummed I have to wait until 2024. Thank you NetGalley for an advanced copy.

Casey and Gareth's relationship is so swoon-worthy. While they enter an agreement that will keep them as 'friends' they both realize there is more than just friendship between them. They each want the best for the other and make sure the other feels appreciated and seen. Also, the reveal to her brother had me in stitches.

Friends to lovers and brother's friend, of course I will give it a go.

Overall, this book was fun and I enjoyed Casey and Gareth as our main characters. I was happy to see that a lot of the focus was not surrounding the "lessons" Gareth agreed to give Casey and it focused more on Gareth and Casey's growth as individuals (more-so Gareth than Casey).

I appreciated the lack of drama that we often see from these tropes, and I was glad that the author chose to focus on what a healthy/mature relationship should look like. I was not expecting that considering the immaturity that we get from some of the dialogue between the guys.

The circle of friends surrounding the group added some comedic relief, and overall this was a light-hearted read with a sprinkle of depth here and there.

Kilt to Order by S. Nix, published by Author Collective, is the first stand-alone in the new Kilt Trip Series.
Allow me to introduce Garetb and Casey.
Gareth is a firefighter at highland games and definetly one of the good guys.
Casey is a 28 year old bookworm, wallflower virgin. And she's the sister of Gareth's best friend. And she needs a favor from Gareth, nough said.
Kilt to Order is a wonderful read. A roommates, small town, brothers best friend rom/com. Sometimes hilarious, sometimes scorching, but always, always entertaining. A great read.

Trope-a-licious fun!

Virgin wanting sex lessons? Please and thank you!

This delightful book has all the ingredients for a whole lot of fun, and it's mixed up perfectly to give us a real treat! Casey shares a house with her brother and two of his friends, and for the most part she's happy with the arrangement. However, she's 28 and feeling long past due to engage in romantic relationships, and she thinks it's her lack of experience that is holding her back. Coupled with an endearing but embarrassing nervous tic, she doesn't seem to be able to get her dating life off the ground.

Seeking out a trusted friend, she asks one of her roommates, Gareth, to instruct her in the knowledge she's missing. Turns out Gareth needs lessons too - first in his English Literature college class, then in processing his emotional baggage left over from a horribly traumatic childhood. Of course we all know how the story is going to go. (We all know what the Grand Canyon looks like, too, but viewing it is still a breath-taking experience.) This story is perfectly plotted, expertly paced, and filled with all the emotional angst a romance reader could ask for.

Insightful intimacy takes the lead in this slow-burn romance, and I loved how their emotional connection grew along with their physical endeavors. Casey is instantly relatable, adorably quirky, and is brave enough to cut right to the heart of the matter when it counts the most. These two are one of my all-time favorite couples. They really do complete each other, in all the best ways.

This is my first book by this author, and I was so impressed I've already loaded up a few more from her back catalog. I highly recommend this story and am looking forward to the next installment of the series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

3.5 stars, rounded up. This was sweet and quite steamy, with a sex coach premise that pretty quickly developed into more. Gareth was a slightly emotionally stunted teddy bear, and I enjoyed reading his care as he introduced Casey to the world of sex. Casey was a bit more mysterious - I appreciated an older virgin heroine but I didn’t quite understand how her character had gotten to that point in her life, she felt rather aimless.

A lot of this book focused solely on the relationship being built, rather than any particular plot, so it felt very cozy. The love scenes were super detailed and the slow place built so much great tension. I loved the scene where they finally made it official, I cheered for Casey when she stood up for something she wanted.

Overall a fun, enjoyable read, I laughed and felt for the characters. One last nitpick, the title didn’t make a lot of sense as Gareth wasn’t Scottish and only wore a kilt in one scene… ah well.

This book was so good that I ended up reading the previous series as well!
A friends to lovers / brother's best friend romance that feels absolutely organic and adorable. But it also has more than a dash of spice where the heroine, tired of striking out in the dating world, asks her housemate, our Hero for lessons on intimacy. Their relationship is so wholesome, watching documentaries together! I also loved how the brother was more concerned with their happiness than anything else. The book somehow hits all the perfect beats within the tropes it covers and the third act conflict feels real and not unnecessarily prolonged.

This was a great book. Casey lives with her brother and his two friends (well, they're her friends too). Her mother is mayor and her father is an artist.

Casey has a great group of friends but she doesn't have a boyfriend. Or any past romantic partners. The last time she dated was in high school.

So after a disaster of a blind date an idea formed. How about Casey just get some experience so that she can move forward?
Who better than her good friend and roommate Gareth?

This was a really sweet book. It brought up a lot of things that's true in relationships. What happens to good friends if you cross a line? And the insecurities that someone can feel when they haven't had the experiences other people have had.

Gareth and Casey were a sweet couple. I loved the realtionship they built with each other and the roommates. The fears that each spoke and built up were really legitimate.

I also enjoyed that they had things they enjoyed. Casey liked puffins and wasn't made fun of but encouraged. And the Highland Games?! I had no idea there were some here in the US!

A cute start to (what will hopefully become) a new series in this King Family spin-off. While it took me longer to get into, once the book hit its stride I was engrossed through the very last page. This is a great summer read for anyone who loves kilts, firemen, and bookstores. Not to mention the most adorable friends to friends with benefits to lovers couple. Gareth and Casey are the embodiment of the blushing hearts emoji. 🥰🥰🥰

And on another note- pretty please can we get a Connor Autry story or novella?! 😍💙😍

Who doesn't love a good friends to lovers story? Throw in a kilt, a fireman, and your brother's best friend and it's even better. Casey is dying to gain some romance experience and she asks Gareth, her roommate and the best friend of her brother. It is to be a temporary situation, a handful of lesson plans if you will. However, feelings always come into play when these things take place...

Casey is so representative of so many girls out there. Gareth was a safe place for her and I love how he treated her so respectfully. This was my first book by Nix and if her others are this good, I can't wait to read them. The banter, the great supporting characters, and the awesome setting. I was entertained all the way through and I was invested in Casey and Gareth.

Thanks to NetGalley and Author Collective 20 for this ARC! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I’m in love with Susannah”s “King Family Creamery” series, so when we met Casey and Gareth in "Pint of Contention” I was so intrigued! And now here we are, with their very own fraeking awesome story!

Casey is my spirit animal, she bookish, nerdy, introverted and she gets to work at an awesome bookstore! Sign me up! Gareth was instantly lovable and of course totally already in love with Casey, without even knowing it.

There is so much to love about this book! How many of those troupe up there strike your fancy? They are all of my favorites and Susannah has managed to get them all in while also tugging on your heart strings and making you swoon with the sweetness that is Gareth! I love that we get a dual POV and get to hear his inner most thoughts it made all the more fun to watch them fall in love!

As for the Spicy times, they are stewamy y’all, there only a couple but that’s all that was needed. And let me tell you Gareth has got a mouth on him! 😘 The burn is slow but oh so worth it!

This was a sweet low angst easy to read cozy story! And I’m so looking forward to more in this potential series with several side characters with MC energy! I’m looking at you Ozzy, Darius and Kenzie!

Thank you Susannah for this very special advanced copy! All opinions are my own!

I fell in love with Susannah Nix with her King Family series (so excited to see that a fourth book is in the works!) and when the last King Family book ended with a hit at this new Kilt Trip series I was so excited! Kilt to Order certainly did not disappoint. It was a fun and light romance book.

Casey lives with three guys, her brother, Ozzy, and his two best friends, Gareth and Darius, who have become her best friends as well, especially Gareth. Gareth is a firefighter and all around great guy. So when Casey asks for help getting rid of her pesky v card she goes to Gareth. They’ve been friends for years, so who better to help her. They promise nothing will change (which never works) and begin their “lessons”.

They were adorable together, Gareth truly helped Casey build her confidence and self esteem while Casey provided Gareth with the support that he so rarely got in life. I loved them together and I cannot wait for this series to continue! I look forward to seeing who can get more than a grunt from Darius and who can tame Ozzy! I am also now dying to go see some Highland Games! Immediately started googling where some are in my area.

Thank you @susannahnixauthor for the ARC!
