At her birthday party, Conner proposes,
She's says yes, they're engaged, she supposes.
However, although he asked, there's no ring
And next morning he's off, not discussing anything!
Jade Monroe is left behind whilst Conner goes away
He's doing his residency so really couldn't stay.
However, he leaves early, dropping ring purchasing plans
Then radio silence has her wondering where she stands.
River is a patron of the bar where Jade works, a friendly sort
He's quirky but kind, still single but sought.
He's been hurt in the past but wants to move on
He's dismayed at Jade's engagement - it should mean she's gone.
However when Jade needs a friend, he's there
He's kind and together they make a great pair.
To each other's rescue they come to their aid
Sometimes when plans - not dates! - are made!
A lovely story, a heartwarming romance
That shows love is there if you give it a chance.
There's family drama, great friendships, too,
In this delightful read I highly recommend to you!
For my complementary copy of this book, I say thank you,
As I share with you this, my honest review.
3,5 rounded to 4* A funny enjoyable story, full of romance, banter, laught.
Jade went through a very tought time with her mom dying after month of sickness, so when Conner the man she's actually dating suddenly propose in front of her family on her birthday she really feels like she can't but accept his proposal.
Then Conner disappears, flying back to Boston where he's attending his recidency, while she stays in Portland working as a bartender and going on with her life.
She's really confused by his total change of behaviour and his sudden lack of interest, meanwhile she's surrounded by her family and friends.
River is a no nonsense guy, honest, loyal, he has a crush for Jade from before she got together with Conner, but lost his moment and now he's really trying to be a good friend for her, being supportive and trying to have her open her eyes about her fiancé.
Between 80's memorabilia, old movies and non dates River and Jade keep getting to know each other being supportive, playful, themself.
Romance's everywhere between two people not together and chemistry is over the top.
I fell in love with River and all his friends crew, discovered that even if this book doesn't seem advertised as part of a serie, there are already books about the other characters and I totally look forward reading them.
Thank you Netgalley and Boldwood Books for providing this book as an arc in exchange of an honest review.
Where to start? Jade and River = PERFECTION. Friends to Lovers? who doesnt love that? A perfect summer loving feel good read. Aimee Brown is now on my favourite author list! Part 2, Please?

The characters, the chemistry, everything🤌🏻🤌🏻✨
"Thank you so much netgalley, the author and the publisher for the advanced review copy if this book💗
"I voluntarily read and reviewed the book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.”
This was a sweet story that was easy to read but lacked real substance. Jade is engaged to Connor but right from the proposal you know that Jade should be saying no, let alone becoming his fiancé. This means that the whole story you are just begging her to see some sense and dump Connor. I also found the parts with friends drawn out and unnecessary. The parrot in Jade’s apartment was a funny touch and I did like the 80’s nostalgia.
I loved this lighthearted read , cute and fun, full of nostalgia from 80s/90s, I mean that’s a winner with me straight away, but thoroughly entertaining read and a brilliant read for picking up your mood
I loved this book. Aimee Brown does it again! This is a continuation of her previous characters, River and Jade. It was a fun, sweet romance that had me laughing.
I adore Aimee Brown's endearing characters and winning love stories. I laughed through the entire book.
From the impromptu marriage proposal from the douche canoe at Chuckie Cheese to the unromantic anti-dating misadventures between two people meant for each other, this romantic comedy kept me smiling and cheering for a happy ending.
Jade Monroe is engaged to Conner, the man of her dreams (or so she thinks) who she has known for all of two months while he was on break from college. Now he's moved back East to study to be a doctor with an occasional text filled with unmeaningful emojis. And did I say, he didn't give her a ring? Needless to say, Jade's friends and family are not his fans. Especially the funny and sexy River Matthews who is bewitched by the beautiful hula bartender at the local Tiki bar and plans to woo her away from the obnoxious and douchey Connor. Connor actually asked River to keep an eye on her and text him if she has real issues. WTF? No way, Dude. Jade is out of Connor's league and River is going to prove it.
Jade needs a fun platonic friend to hang out with and cheer her up and River is just the ticket. Call it unromantic anti-dating. Yeah, that goes as planned. NOT! I love Jade and River. They get each other. They have so much in common. River's dope fashion sense and charming and witty personality are a great compliment to Jade's kindness and cheery disposition. Their extremely funny banter alone is a reason to pick up this book. Add in Jade's roommate Spike, the insulting Congo African gray parrot, the coronary express debacle, River's tribute to one of my favorite movies, "Say Anything", and I was sold. The vibe is right with these two and if anyone deserves a happy ending, it's them.
The friends and family of Jade and River are weird, loving, and outrageously funny doling out good advice and much love for the couple. My favorite part is their words describing the repulsive Connor which are on point! Douche canoe, cock-monger, tool, and River's nickname for him "Corndog". LOL
Pick up this remarkably funny and delightful book filled with heart and true love. It's going on my favorite books list.
Thank you to Ms. Brown for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
Thank you to Boldwood Books & NetGalley for this ARC!
lighthearted romantic comedy, dual POV, friends to lovers & a slow burn - the recipe for a successful story in my book!
I absolutely loved getting to see both River and Jade's POV as their friendship grew. This was a fun, lighthearted summer read.
I received a complimentary copy of this book via Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.
A cute, fluffy rom-com story. Perfect to read between chapters of heavier depressing stories to make your soul smile again. I have nothing negative to say, it's a story with characters that make me smile and I love that in a book.
Also, I'll send my friends to Aaimee Brown when they find out we are celebrating my 40th birthday at Chuck E Cheese. Together they have enough children to not make the other adults uncomfortable. So thank you.
A super cute romcom with fun characters. But the title seems way off. The lead characters were not stuck together, they chose to hang out together. Title makes it seem like they were forced when in reality they were anything but. Overall a nice story that leaves you with a warmed heart.
BLOG TOUR REVIEW
Review for 'Stuck With You' by Aimee Brown.
Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Aimee Brown, Book And Tonic, Boldwood Books and Rachel's Random resources Tours.
Publication date 9th August 2023.
This is the first book I have read by this author but it most definitely won't be the last!
This novel consists of 28 chapters and an epilogue. The chapters are short to medium in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
What an absolutely gorgeous must read!!! Absolutely loved it fairplay!!! This book has fantastic descriptions that set you straight in the scenes. The cover, title and synopsis suit the storyline perfectly.
An absolutely stunning romantic comedy page turner by the extremely talented Aimee!!! Her fantastic and evocative writing skills will pick you up and sweep you away to Portland leaving you listening to music in the Tiki room, tasting the cocktails and warming your heart throughout!!! I was completely invested and immersed in the storyline and was absolutely devastated when I came to the end and realised I had to unpack my suitcase and return to rainy Wales. The scenery, atmosphere and characters all came to life around me.An absolute gorgeous read filled with love, friendship, humour, heartbreak, fun and everything you could ask for in a fantastic romcom!!! I absolutely love feel good friends to lovers book in between the crime and psychological books I read and this is one of the best ones I've read. I gave up counting how many times I told myself one more chapter just to HAVE to know what happened next as this happened over and over until I ended up devouring the whole book in one sitting!!! This would make an absolutely gorgeous movie that I would love to see made!!! This book is a stunning page turner which will have you feeling warm and fuzzy inside at times and yet screaming and shouting at certain people at other times. The atmosphere was gorgeous and I loved the setting. It made this book a perfect read anywhere and anytime from on the beach in the middle of the day or curled up in fire in the middle of the night. I can't wait to get stuck into more of Aimee's feel good reads!!!
An absolutely fantastic book by the very talented Aimee. I would love to see this turned into a movie!! Clear your schedules as you won't want to put this one down!!
The characters were all an eclectic mix and each one of them were realistic and strong. Aimee's fantastic and evocative writing skills made them all come to life throughout the book and I loved their unique personalities!! I absolutely adored both Jade and River who were both larger than life. They both made me laugh and smile but also made me shout at them for not seeing certain things that were right in front of their eyes and obvious!! I could not stand Conner who was just one big pile or dog turd and I wanted to give him what he had coming so many times!!! An absolute butt wipe!!! I loved getting to see how both Jade and River were feeling throughout and I just found them both lovable characters who I started missing as soon as I came to the end of this gorgeous romcom. I was completely invested in them and I would love to meet them both again!!! The background characters were also well developed and there was a great wide selection of personalities mixed throughout, Jade's dad did make me laugh on several occasions and also reminded me of my own Dad with some of the things he came out with!!
A MASSIVE WELL DONE to Aimee on a HUGE success!!! I loved every page of your book and I cannot wait to read more past and future. This is exactly why I would like to welcome you to my favourite room com author list!!!
Make sure you read to the very end of the book to read the prologue and the first two chapter of Aimee's 'Love Notes' which promises to be just as fantastic as this book and is one I'm looking forward to reading myself!!
Overall an unputdownable, gorgeous book filled with friendship, laughter and love.

This novel was told from a dual point of view through the two main characters, who I loved. The two main characters are obviously made for each other from the start, but this is a slow burn making it a heartwarming read with the perfect outcome.
"Aimee Brown's 'Stuck With You' swept me off my feet in the best way possible. From the very first page, I was enveloped in a world of swoony romance, heart-touching moments, and sheer entertainment. Brown's impeccable storytelling skills took me on a journey that left me utterly captivated, as if I were living alongside her charming characters.
Brown's writing was an intoxicating blend of humor, wit, and irresistible charm. The story's pacing held me spellbound from the very start, while the electric chemistry between the characters practically leaped off the page. As their lives intertwined, I was taken on an emotional rollercoaster that journeyed from heartwarming laughter to poignant heartache and back again.
If you're in search of a book that ignites your heart, paints a smile on your face, and leaves you completely fulfilled, look no further. "Stuck With You" is a true gem that resonates on all levels."
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Boldwood Books through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you so much!
Thanks to Netgalley for this opportunity!
This story was cute. Jade gets engaged in the first few pages to a boy she hardly knows, and learns quickly through interactions with River that maybe she jumped too quickly. Or is she jumping too quickly now? This is peppered heavily with some 80's and 90's nostalgia (Say Anything is one of my favorite movies so I can't hate on this in the slightest), told through dual POV.
This is not a deep story, nor is the prose or language very noteworthy: this is at most a surface level story. You never really feel any sort of tension for Jade, since its clear from the get-go her current beau is terrible. So its a bit difficult to ever really feel invested in her internal because its just THAT obvious she's supposed to be with River. I prefer real tension in a story: I want to feel propelled towards an ending, not just forced in a certain direction.
I really loved this love story and even the way it happened. It felt like they were the bestest of friends who really loved each other. I would have liked to know what happened in Connors life but i loved everything else!
Someone call my mom, I think we finally found my heart…
I swear I was not designed with affection, warmth or cuddles in mind the night my parents procreated.
Instead, I find comfort in true crime, psychological thrillers and things that go bump in the night.
That is, until my interest was peeked by the cover of, Stuck With You (I loved the title too!)
Aimee Brown, I adore you and I have just become an auto-fan and your biggest cheerleader.
This book right here is “it” and I loved every minute of it.
These characters were perfectly flawed, lovable and REAL! You can’t help but tumble down this rabbit home of opposites attract.
If I can persuade you to read one romcom for the rest of the year, it’s this one right here!
Teaser:
Jade Monroe has finally found the man of her dreams.
Or has she? Despite them being newly engaged, her fiancé Conner has suddenly gone radio silent. And even though her family are all giving her the same advice, (he's just not that into you) she’s not convinced.
River Matthews has always been his authentic self, without apologies. Honest to a fault, light-hearted and a little lonely. Currently he's the last single standing in his group of friends and he's starting to feel his clock ticking. He’s got close to happily-ever-after before, but now it’s once-bitten-twice-shy, and the only way he’s going to find love is if he takes a chance.
The wisdom goes that if you just stop looking, your perfect partner will appear, but who will be there when Jade and River stop searching for ‘the one’?
Sexy, sassy and downright irresistible, the brand-new friends-to-lovers romance perfect for fans of Sariah Wilson, Lindsey Kelk and Abby Jiminez.
Jade is engaged to her boyfriend Conner, But when distance is put between them the red flags really start to show.
But soon it will be River who shows Jade how she should be treated.
This novel was told from a dual point of view through the two main characters, who I loved. The two main characters are obviously made for each other from the start, but this is a slow burn making it a heartwarming read with the perfect outcome.
I am really enjoying reading this author and I look forward to reading more.
Have you ever read a book from start to finish smiling? For me it was this book, I love a good Friends to Lovers but do it with a character with attention deficit, romantic, fun and lover of 80s and 90s pop culture and add a heroine bartender who is funny, friendly and runs a tiki bar with his two best friends and you have this perfect mix, you can put down
.
I love that her characters are so original and that together they have a different energy that works in so many ways
.
Jade just got engaged to her boyfriend of two months ago, before he left the city to go to Boston to study medicine and with distance all the things and details that her family and friends noticed about him become more evident
.
Just when she begins to question if she made the right decision, one of her favorite clients is there to help her or put more questions in her head and in her heart
.
Another thing that I love is how, after having read the other books in this series, when is the character's turn, the book is a total pleasant surprise, a really good surprise
.
River Matthews was incredíble, sweet, fun and perfect for Jade, they conected in a different way and it was really fun and heartwarming reading how they fall in love
.
Thanks to Aimee Brown and Boldwood Books for give me a copy of this Beautiful book in exchange of my honest and voluntary opinion
Stuck on you was a very entertaining book, perfect for readers who like a friends to lovers story. Jade's Fiance Conner has so many red flags yet she's still planning to marry him despite everything. It's up to River to show Jade that she deserves better. I loved the super flirty banter on their "non-dates" and how comfortable, fun and easy things are between them. Jade and River are both such likeable characters and have such great chemistry.
I would definitely recommend this book.
