I really enjoyed this book. Spike the talking parrot had me laughing out loud many times. River is beyond sweet and fun. There are a few awkward moments that are almost beyond awkward but memorable and add to the charm.
Here you will find:
Friends to Lovers
Nosy and invasive family members with heart
Very large hamburger
Confronting the past

Jade's boyfriend just proposed. And got her name wrong. And didn't have a ring. And is leaving tomorrow to fly back across the country to finish his residency. Her friends aren't happy. Her family isn't happy. Heck, her parrot isn't happy.
River has always liked Jade as more than just his favorite bartender. One drunken night, he even shared his phone number and almost kiss. But, when he learns she's engaged to the dud, Conner, he realizes he likes her a lot more than he thought.
With a fiancé across the country, and no one excited about her engagement, Jade decides to go on a series of anti-dates with River. He's funny, he's charming, and they have more in common than she ever expected. Is River maybe the real one?
This book is part of a series of interconnected standalones, and I have not read the others. Ultimately, this book had a really slow start and it wasn't until well into 60% done that I started to connect with the characters. I think part of this is because I didn't read the others and it took time to build their world. Once that world was built, I enjoyed the book a lot more and appreciated that the stakes were pretty low.
Beyond that, River was just not it for me. I found his personality and a lot of his dialogue to be a bit cringe. There doesn't mean he doesn't have redeeming qualities, he definitely does. But as someone who is not a big personality, his big personality is pretty much my worst nightmare. If that's more of your style, I think you'll enjoy both of the main characters.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book. All opinions are 100% my own.
This book is a short read that appears to be part of a series. It can be read as a standalone, as the couples from the other books in the series don’t play a huge role in the storyline.
This book is trying to be a comedy, and it did have some funny parts, but it felt like the author was trying too hard to write a romcom, as the romance area was underdeveloped.
My biggest problem with this book was how unlikeable both the main characters were. The male main character, River, was a pretentious hipster, with zero respect for boundaries. He was actively flirting with an engaged woman throughout this book. He also had the worst dress sense I’ve ever seen described - red jeans, and he made his sister change her entire wedding colour scheme because he wanted a blue velvet tux jacket.
The female main character, Jade, wasn’t as bad, but she had no backbone, and no personality asides from getting engaged quickly. Her family however, were really interesting and I wish we’d seen more of them as her witchy sister Laney and motorbike gang member Dad were highlights of the book. Spike the parrot was also hilarious.
3.5 ⭐️
I didn't know this was a series! this isn't the first book, but it definitely works as a standalone if you're not looking to start it from the beginning with book one. the writing was upbeat and light and definitely a good book to get you out of a reading slump. The only thing I can't ever seem to enjoy is a cheating plot, cheating just doesn't do it for me. Yet, I loved the characters and everything else. I love the writing style, this author is definitely someone I'd read from again. Really quick and easy read which is perfect! I like something I can get through in one sitting, it's what I always gravitate towards. Could see myself going for more books by this author! Just wish the cheating trope didn't exist (just not for me, but if you enjoy it then I recommend this book!). I Wish Jade broke off her relationship sooner. Really loved River. Really think some people would enjoy it, especially the banter.

Thanks to Boldwood Books, Netgalley and the author for an ARC of this book. I am leaving this unbiased review voluntarily.
It took a while for me to get into this story, mostly because Jade, the main character, appears to be somewhat dim. She is engaged to a person who doesn't really like her or know her for inexplicable reasons. She's funny, beautiful, emotionally intelligent in every other aspect of her life and yet she accepts the proposal of a man who is one giant red flag. Sorry, I just didn't believe it.
I persevered through the book because River seemed like an interesting character but, in the end, I didn't really feel connected to either one of them, despite the awesome 80's movie-style romantic moment.
There was some enjoyable banter and a few witticisms that made me giggle but, ultimately. these characters and the love story didn't work for me.
I love River and Jade! This book had great banter and made me want to be there! So much so that once I finished it I immediately searched the author and read the 2 other books that are already out with these same characters! Aimee Brown has a way of writing that makes you feel like you are in the story right with the characters. I love the dual point of view. I cannot wait to read more by her.
Jade has just become engaged to Connor after a very brief relationship, however is not sure whether she has done the right thing. River is a regular customer at the bar where she works and becomes a close friend, is there more to this relationship than just friendship?
This is one of those books where you are totally frustrated at a character's choice, Jade is totally unsure about the engagement, she doesn't even have a ring and when Connor moves to carry on his studies he doesn't even contact her regularly. Whether River is the right guy for her isn't so important, although he sounds a really good friend, they both find that they are happiest in the other's company. Frustration aside there are some really funny moments, a giant burger eating contest and its side effects come to mind, and Jade's sister is definitely a hoot. I had to finish it just to find out what happens so it's worth persevering.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book age I have already pre-ordered it.
Stuck with You was such a lovely read. It’s a sweet romance with two main characters who are obviously meant to be together - but the happily ever after wouldn’t be satisfying if they beelined to it, would it? So our girl Jade gets proposed to right from the beginning by the wrong guy and sticks to this douchebag like a Super Ninja Loyalty Warrior just to find out way, way, waaaaaaaaaay too slow that a man who proposes after two months of dating, without a ring, using a wrong middle name, and leaves to another state without any plans to come back, simply isn’t Mr. Right. But it’s fascinating to see how Jade stretches just because she’s that committed.
Who IS Mr. Right is River, a colorful guy, right there from the start and wooing her with all the glamour the eighties and nineties did not possess (but it’s nostalgic, so it’s definitly charming). And I’m happy the author included the nursing back to health trope to solidify these two were perfect for each other.
While I really, truly, honestly loved the parts where Jade and River interacted and enjoyed following their journey from friends to lovers, I was a little bit unconvinced about Jade’s hesitations. The author did not hold back in making her financé a horrible person. He was a worm and a snake and an annoying mosquito at the same time. If it wasn’t for him standing in Jade and River’s way, Jade should still have dumped him long ago. It’s not cool to see a character so willingly try to make it work with someone so undeserving. If you can get past that, you’ll find a really nice read with many lovely moments that will swoon you over!
3.5 stars!
"Stuck With You" by Aimee Brown is an absolute delight for anyone who appreciates the magic of light-hearted individuals who dare to march to the beat of their own drum. Drawing parallels to the charm of iconic movies like "Say Anything," this book offers a refreshing breath of air in the contemporary romance genre. If you've ever found yourself nodding along to 80s pop music or indulging in the whimsical setting of a tiki bar, this novel will resonate deeply with your playful spirit. And for those of us who have secretly (or not-so-secretly) desired an adult birthday bash at Chuck E. Cheese, Brown understands you all too well.
At its heart, "Stuck With You" isn't just about romance. It delves into intricate dynamics like wonderful parent-child relationships, the antics of crazy siblings, and the unwavering bond of great friendships. Each relationship, expertly woven, adds depth and warmth to the narrative. Through genuine interactions and humorous scenarios, Brown showcases the nuances of these connections, making them relatable and endearing to readers.
However, the pièce de résistance of this novel is the tastefully crafted PG-13 love story. In a world where spicy and explicit narratives often steal the limelight, this love story is a testament that passion can be subtle, genuine and still make your heart race. Not all things hot and spicy are for everyone, and Aimee Brown recognizes that, crafting a sweet and satisfying romance. With its cinematic charm and unforgettable characters, it's easy to envision "Stuck With You" becoming the next big Hollywood hit rom-com on the big screen someday. Highly recommended for those who crave a story filled with joy, humor, and a good dose of nostalgia.

Thank you Boldwood Books & NetGalley for an ARC of this book, in exchange for my honest opinion.
I think this book is just not for me. There's a layer of suspense of disbelief that I can't get past. The FMC is frustrating because she doesn't see what is right in front of her. I don't mind miscommunication, but it made her seem stupid, and I don't like stupid FMCs. She seems like the type of friend where you want to shake her shoulder and go "come on dude!" There are so many red flags, it's like she's planting them to grow more. Sadly, not for me.
I received Stuck with You for free in exchange for an honest review. This was the first book I had read by Aimee Brown. I quite enjoyed it. The characters were quirky and likable. I would have liked a little more heat, but overall I really liked the story.
Loved the dynamic between these two, trying to stay friends!

Jade is newly engaged, to a man she’s only known for 2 months. He proposes (on a whim it seems, to everyone but Jade), without a ring, and immediately moves away for school, going silent on her.
River is just a great guy - an amazing friend and caring of everyone in his life, and a fun person to be around. They meet at the bar where Jade works, and become fast friends.
Stuck with You is the 3rd book in an interconnected series. Book 1 (He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not) is still my fav, and I LOVED seeing Hollyn & Dax, and their wedding prep in this one!
I really liked River in the previous book (Love Notes), and was looking forward to his story. I loved the dynamic between him and Jade. River was a pretty different kind of hero, and that was refreshing.
What I wasn’t a fan of in this book is how Jade was just oblivious, or for some reason fighting so hard against the fact that her fiancé was not really into her. It made her look dumb honestly.
Even though that’s pretty much the whole premise of the story, I still enjoyed reading it.
What you’ll find in Stuck with You:
⭐️ Friends to lovers
⭐️ Bartender & film maker
⭐️ He falls first
⭐️ Slow burn (to a kiss)
⭐️ Clean romance
⭐️ Dual POV/first person

When Jade celebrates her birthday at Chuck E. Cheese’s she is shocked when her boyfriend of two months Connor, asks her to marry him. Her dad and sister are not his biggest fans especially when he doesn’t even get her middle name right during the proposal, nor does he have a ring to seal the deal needless to say it is only Jade who is surprised when Connor runs off to visit his friends in Boston and barely makes contact with her. This is why after work ripper found her laying in the rain at the park and decided to join her it seems river can always make Jade feel better this is why they start hanging out on non-romantic dates it’s a great distraction for Jade and she is so distracted she doesn’t even realize she is falling for the funny and gorgeous 29 year old. Little does Jade know but river has already fallen for her but what does this mean for her and the MIA Connor? I was so happy to see that this is the same world with DAX in Holland and I don’t know how I missed that in the summary because I absolutely loved their story. Amy Brown is a very talented very hilarious author and I cannot wait to see who’s up next one in this book we had Jade and River as I said I love the story with DAX and Holland but if chemistry could jump off the page it would’ve end this one these two are perfect for each other I can’t wait to see who’s going to be in the next book. Amy Brown is a very talented writer and I feel so privileged to get to read her books as an early reader this is a definite five star read and one I highly recommend if you love a funny romance that is also sweet and endearing then you’ll love Stuck With You by Amy Brown. I want to thank BoldWood books peanut gallery for my free arc copy please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
Do my cheeks hurt from smiling? Maybe.
Loved this. Loved River so much! This was such a sweet romcom - I was so giddy and happy while reading!
A wonderful rom-com with will have you glued to the pages. Aimee Brown is a new author to me and I hope to continue reading her books. Well written and I didn't want to put the book down but life got in the way. I did read it in 2 days though.
Jade is newly engaged with one catch....you'll have to read the book to find out! I'm not going to spoil it. With being newly engaged her family and friends are not happy with Jade's fiancé. They tell her she can do better. While Jade is on the west coast and Connor is going to medical school on the east coast she starts to feel something is wrong. Connor doesn't call her and has been texting instead. Jade is a bartender and some of Connors friends frequent the bar she works at telling her things about what Connor is up to doesn't sit well with Jade.
River is a friend of Jade's who is a sweet guy and a helpful one. He tries to help Jade whenever he is around, and they start to hang out. Becoming good friends Jade confides some of her life at the moment with River. River is starting to have feelings for Jade but because she is engaged he has to step back. But he really wants to be with Jade. Will Jade dump Connor? Will River get his happily ever after?
This is a wonderful friends-to-lovers storyline and I highly recommend!
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for allowing me to read an advanced digital copy of "Stuck With You". The words in this review are mind and mine alone.
River is such a great character, I loved him since book 1. His relationship with his sister and Mercy is amazing to read about. Now we get to read him and he delivers, funny and caring. Jade is also a great character, she compliments River so well. These two belong together! The romcom delivers, my checks hurt from smiling so much.
Funny, charming, sweet, nostalgic... this is a delight!
Jade is a bartender ('barkeep') with a shiny new but useless fiancé, Conner. River is customer in her bar and part of a friendship group/found family we met in previous novels. Will they, won't they? This is a slow burn, because Jade has a fiancé, and her feelings for River develop slowly as they circle each other- he gives bro-advice and they go on non-dates. It's fun and innocent but means they get to know each other away from the bar. Family and friends meddle and the '80s and '90s pop references are absolutely gold. If you loved 'Say Anything', here it is! There's lots of sneaky and clever references to music and clothes and fashion style - River is quite the dandy and his dress choices create delicious visuals of their interactions.
It's tender, with lots of caregiving, dual POV, closed-door and a delightful easy read. Recommended!
Thank you NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC.
This was a fun light hearted friends to lovers romance. I really enjoyed this book because of all the 80's references and a talking parrot with no filter.
Jade has her 26th birthday party at Chuck E Cheese. Her boyfriend Connor asks her to marry him but doesn't give her a ring. She says yes even though she has only been dating him two months. Connor returns to Boston and proceeds to ignore her.
Jade starts hanging out with River and soon realizes that they have so much in common. He manages to make her laugh and understands her. He shows her what love should feel like. The say anything movie scene was priceless.
Oh, I so loved this book! I was literally laughing out loud and crying at the same time as it's so engaging and funny! Jade has just gotten engaged but her new love of only a few months is off to work in a different place, she has no engagement ring, and he rarely calls. Enter River, a great friend who fiancee Connor has asked to "watch" Jade in his absence. Of course River is secretly in love with Jade and their banter is hilarious as she's a "hula girl" at a tropical bar and his mother is the famous Penny Candy who was a sensation in the 80's. Just know it is riveting and I read it in one sitting as I couldn't put it down! And to top it off, their favorite movie from the 80's is Say Anything (which is my fave as well)! So very funny and thoughtful!
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC!
“Stuck With You" by Aimee Brown is a delightful friends-to-lovers romantic comedy that captures the essence of finding love when you least expect it. The story follows Jade Monroe, a woman who finds herself engaged to the wrong guy and clings to the relationship out of commitment. Enter River Matthews, a colorful and genuine character who has always been himself, unapologetically.
The charm of the story lies in the slow-burning romance between Jade and River. Their interactions are sweet and heartwarming, taking readers on a journey from friendship to love. The author skillfully portrays their blossoming relationship against a backdrop of authenticity and charm.
While the plot is engaging and filled with lovely moments, Jade's hesitations regarding her previous fiancé may seem a bit drawn out. The character of her ex-fiancé is portrayed as unpleasant, making her prolonged commitment to the relationship puzzling. However, if you can overlook this aspect, the book offers a delightful and swoon-worthy read.
Aimee Brown's writing captures the essence of a summer romance, and her characters are relatable and endearing. "Stuck With You" is a perfect pick for fans of friends-to-lovers tropes, offering a blend of humor, romance, and heart. Overall, the book is a charming addition to the romantic comedy genre, inviting readers to embrace the unexpected journey to finding love.
