A good read for the fans of a hockey romance, the story was intriguing and once I started reading I kept liking it more and more.
After the puck accident we get to see the development of the relationship between Coco and Logan but it takes place mostly in the hospital, there we get to see them start liking each other, so when we finally see their relationship outside it’s amazing, the chemistry between both of them and let’s not forget Poppy! The lucky charm part got me a little preoccupied but it was all part of the plot and we get to see that all resolved. A nice and happy ending, with an open door for the next book, can’t wait to continue with the story of Cam and Lana.
I liked the book and the storyline it presented, the only thing a can find on the negative side was all the time spent at the hospital but even then it was all about building the relationship between Coco and Logan, and it all got better after when they started spending time together. I’ll give give it a 3.5 stars
I loved this book so much!!! A cinnamon roll hockey player matched with a strong, independent, driven figure skater?? What more could one ask for??
2.5 stars
Advanced copy thanks to NetGallery.
Promising plot, but the advanced copy is riddled with grammatical and spelling errors, as well as repeated sentences/paragraphs, making it difficult to get into the plot.
The plot, twists and characters were fun, but felt a little shallow at times.
With some editing and fleshing out some scenes, this could be a really great, fun read.
The Cutting Edge was a super cute book. I love the movie The Cutting Edge so I was sucked in by the title and storyline of a figure skater and a hockey player. I loved it. Highly recommend.
I was unable to read this story before it was archived because I was hospitalized and missed my window. But simply selecting "I will not be giving feedback on this title" doesn't seem to adjust my completion statistics, so I am writing this so that my stats reflect my actual completion rate.
It looks like a charming premise and I am sad I didn't get a chance to read it. :( I will have to read this later.
If you loved The cutting edge movie you won’t want to miss this single Dad, hockey/figure skater romance that sees Coco getting a puck to the head and then falling for the man responsible (who also happened to be the dad of one of her skating students).
A swoony, dual POV slow burn. This was a quick and enjoyable read. My only complaint was I didn’t love the third act miscommunication break up. I thought Poppy took things a little too hard when they were both keeping secrets.
Other than that though definitely worth a read and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series! I voluntarily read and reviewed an early copy and all opinions are my own!
I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I think this has an okay start with lots of potential that wasn't realized.
Listen. I read The Dare way back in 2016 when it came out and I have been obsessed with hockey romance books ever since. I also grew up watching The Cutting Edge movie and being so obsessed with it that I wrote 30k of Dramione fanfic about that story (that I never posted) but listen. This story will do it for me forever and ever. There is no doubt in my mind that I will read this plotline again and again.
Hmm…very disappointing. I am typically a HUGE hockey romance fan. There’s not a ton that I don’t vibe with. Unfortunately, this was one of them.
This took me forever to get through. I felt like I was dragging my feet. There’s a major lack of tension oh & my least favorite thing…third act conflict.
Thank you to the publisher, the author & to NetGalley for the Arc.
I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.
Logan and Coco's concussion inducing meet cute was one for the books! They had cute banter, friends to lovers rom com. Single dad, hockey romance, with a little bit of spice. While their story was so cute, it lacked the depth some would expect, especially given some of the heavier topics that ended up getting glossed over and thaf 60ish % of fhe book was spent with Coco in the hospital recovering. And Logan trying to win her over after making a stupid comment. Poppy was abaolutely adorable and definitely stole the show in some moments (but bummed we didnt get to see more of rufus!) All that to say, looking forward to the next book and Lana and Cam's story!
Thank you Netgalley and the author

Such a cute book! I loved how fast we fell in love with the characters, how their issues happened and how fast they were resolved. I always get nervous with books like this because I’m afraid they’ll break my heart haha but this was a cute story. I can’t wait to read the next couple books in the series and see what happens with some of the other characters. This was a fast read with a happy ending.
This was really cute, if a little simple. I love a romcom and all that entails -- the cheesy lines, the flirting, the slowburn of it all. It ticked my boxes for what I was looking for, but for some reason around the 60% mark I found myself not as invested as I wanted to be. It felt very predictable and I got a little bored, which was disappointing. Still, this was enjoyable and lighthearted.
Welcome to the adorable dual POV hockey romance that is fun to read, with characters you become closer friends with each page turn. The Cutting Edge by Lisa Daily is a part of the series and this one was my first read. I will be going back reading the rest of them, though!
Meet Coco. She’s an Olympic skater down on her luck. Meet Logan. He’s a single father who moonlights as an NHL pro athlete. After an adorable meet cute, thing seem to be going well. If a secret between them is revealed, will it ruin everything?
I’m Canadian so it’s no surprise that I’m always in my hockey romance era. This book had a perfect book boyfriend, was easy to read, cute, and incredibly charming. If you’re in a reading slump, this is the perfect book that you can read in one sitting, to pick you up and out of it!
I didn’t expect to fall in love with this book this much but I’m glad that I did. This romance was a pleasant surprise in many ways. The plot, the writing and the characters as well are done excellently and the book reads swiftly and easily! Couldn’t put it down.
The Cutting Edge by Lisa Daily is wonderful - you will enjoy all the characters! Happy Reading!
**I received an ARC of this book courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and given freely**
When I was a kid the movie the Cutting Edge was my favorite movie so Lisa Daily had me at figure skater/hockey romance.
The book reads like a Hallmark movie, the best possible way. It made me giggle, fall in love, occasional roll my eyes but ultimately left me with a big smile on my face.
There were a few typos, but I assume they will be fixed in the final version. My only real complaint was that we barely saw Poppy for much of the book. She was a great character and I expect more family moments from a single dad romance.
I give the book 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4 on sites that fail to understand the need for half stars. Thanks so much to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to try this book. I’ll definitely keep my eye out for the next book in the series.
i really wanted to enjoy this book because i discovered i really like sports romances. however, it just did not do it for me. i was so excited for the olympic figure skater and professional hockey player duo, but there were no cute sports moments between them like i would have hoped for. i did not like insta-love aspect of this, becuase it''s just so unrealistic like many other parts of the book. there was very little relationship development before they were in love. i enjoy a good of pining and chasing in a book. plot-wise, it was subpar. nothing that happened was shocking or kept me on the edge of my seat. the writing was also not as engaging as i would have liked. i do appreciate the opportunity to have read this book, though! thank you!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
HEA: yes
spice: a 1 open-door spicy scenes
TWs: hospital setting, concussion, mentions of death, chemo/cancer (not MCs), anxiety/anxiety attacks
standalone: yes
final thoughts: a cute, mostly closed-door romance about a famous hockey playing single dad and the Olympic ice-skating coach with a not-so-meet-cute and plenty of shenanigans. BUT this book has so much potential but it ultimately fell a little bit short for me. It was cute, funny, and enjoyable but it needed more! I oved reading about their relationship but there were some plot holes that I felt really let the storyline down for being great.
read this book if you love
💓 slowburn
😬 angst
🧑🤝🧑 great side characters

thank you to Net Gallery and the publishers for allowing me to review an ARC of this book. i really enjoyed seeing the relationship between coco and logan. however, i think their relationship progressed too fast. i also think that some parts of this story were way to unrealistic. on a more positive note, i found myself kicking my feet and swooning over some of the things logan did for coco. overall, i really enjoyed this cute, swoon worthy romance!
