Thank you NetGalley for providing me with this ARC!

Uhm.. Sadly this book wasn't for me. I'm a huge hockey romance reader but there were a few reasons why I wasn't really getting into it and had to DNF it.

- Writing style is amateur
- Love interest is always positive and happy, no tension
- No balance in dialogue and description, too little of the latter
- it's a hockey romance but sports is barely mentioned

I wish I could like this because I hate to give a bad rating for a book but it is what it is.

This was a very cute. The way Logan falls for Coco and Poppy being in the deal makes it all the sweeter. This had laughter, love, and hope. The trifecta when you think RomCom. Overall a good read.

It won't let me do a half star but I give this book 3 1/2 stars.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Very cute storyline about two people who don't notice each other before until disaster strikes brings them together out of guilt and a hospital stay. The saying is you don't look for love until it hits you (literally).

Favorite character of course is 5 year old, Poppy. The author did a great job with her character and writing for her.

Favorite scene - when they announce to everyone they are officially dating, not putting too much to not give a spoiler. It was done in a very cute way.

I have trouble giving a lower rating and hoping this was fixed before it was published since it was an ARC but some of the pages and paragraphs were repeated which made me think I missed a page or accidentally hit the wrong thing on my kindle. Some of the scenes seemed a bit odd - first time is behind closed doors or so it was written that way because the second time was very steamy however sounded like their first time which was confusing to this reader. I went back to reread what was shared as their first encounter behind closed doors and that it is how it was written. Some of the plot seemed a bit far fetched (being hired as the "lucky charm" but don't tell).

I did like the basis of the story, the story overall and the characters. Of course I ended the book with wait? What now? What happens now which then turned into relief seeing this is the first of a 3 book series. I'm looking forward to reading the continuation of the team to see where it goes from there.

Thank you to NetGalley and Siesta Key for the ARC.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this novel.
The Cutting Edge markets itself as a sports romance between a big-time NHL player and an Olympic figure skater.
Unfortunately, I had to DNF at 50%.
Coco, our FMC, (who I'm certain is Bella according to the Goodreads description) gets hit by a puck going specifically 103 miles per hour thanks to our MMC, Logan. She miraculously survives however with only a hairline fracture according to her extremely attentive doctor.
Please also note that although I stopped reading at the 50% mark, Coco still had not yet left the hospital and all interactions between our main characters occurred in this one hospital room over only a few days.
The dialogue between all the characters made me feel like I was pulling my own teeth out. It was awkward, disjointed, and practically painful to get through. It would have been more pleasant to watch politicians who hate each other, try and be cordial for the camera.
Logan was head over heels with Coco from the get-go which was sweet until it wasn't. It was love bombing at its best. His adoptive (this backstory is brushed over like NBD) daughter Poppy is completely forgotten about, and his nanny (because apparently using her name, Rosie, is too difficult) seems to be caring for her, but hey who knows because this is hardly explained.
Coco eventually goes loco and realises the good old American healthcare system is going to send her broke but blames Logan for the whole situation. So when he comes to visit her, she snaps at him to leave with practically no explanation. This is is the straw that broke the camels back for me.
The grammatical errors and the horrible formatting, which could have been the fact the copy I read was electronic however this isn't a reasonable excuse, definitely didn't help this book's case.
At the end of the day, I'm glad I gave this one a go but I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

It had a good premise that made me request this book, but the whole timeline ended up being messy and i couldn't get the story as i thought i would. Do i think the book is bad? No, but if you read it based on the premise... you will end up disapointed

Problem #1: A hockey puck hitting your head at 103mph will kill you. It will not result in minor bleeding and a hairline fracture. A week after this near-death experience, Coco is doing shots of alcohol? I got a minor concussion when my head hit the soft car seat and the doctor said no alcohol for two weeks and my head was pounding for one.

Problem #2: 60% of this book was spent in the hospital and over the course of a week. Insta-love at its finest. The timeline is so jacked between the playoffs game schedule and the travel.

Problem #3: Logan buys every single dream gift in the book. A Vera Wang dress, a puppy play date, massages, manis and pedis, and they’re all sent to her hospital room. He literally buys her love. She says she doesn't want it and doesn't want to accept his money. Then she happily opens a Patreon to accept money from everyone else.

Problem #4: The “drama” isn’t drama. It’s so contrived.

Problem #5: For a hockey romance compared to Icebreaker, there was zero steam. The “steam” was some of the most awkward and flat I’ve ever read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Siesta Key/Lisa Daily for the ARC.

I wish I could say something generic like, “This book is for readers who want a simple and fun read,” but even that would be a lie. This book is one trope piled after another with no real conflict or character growth. It is in serious need of a content edit. Lovers of teen drama may get past these things, but I think they would even find this book to fall flat.

Over all this was a super cute book. Things I loved about it were the flow, characters and most of the plot. Im not a huge third break up act, book lover. It has to really feel like it works. And it just didn’t for me. Im so thankful for the opportunity to read this book. I just wish it had alittle more detail and it felt like things were rushed. I enjoy when FMC & MMC slowly get into the relationship/lusty parts. I just felt like it was very quick.

Overall though, I did enjoy it. & will post on my instagram for a recommendation:)

I have not read Ice Breaker, so I do not have that to compare this story to. However, that being said I found this book charming and fun. There were parts in the middle that were really good, but in the beginning, I almost gave up because I didn't connect. I am glad I kept on reading because it was surprising.

My favorite character was Poppy and the back story of how Logan became her father.

Login Rivers is a NHL hockey player and is in a slump till he meets Coco and his whole world changes. He is crazy about this woman, there is small problem that he did hit her in the head with his runaway slap shot. Can they move past this and what it means to Coco's future as a figure skater?

Thank you to NetGalley and Siesta Key House for a copy of this book for my honest review.

This was a cute little romance. Even though the first half of the book primarily took place in a hospital room, I couldn’t help but smile at how quickly Logan won over Daisy. With such easy going personalities, even the drama brought out in the third act was enjoyable. I’d definitely recommend this one and can’t wait to see what’s in store for book #2!

rating: 2.5/5

This book is the epitome of the cringy, simple book genre. Although this might be the perfect book for some people, it really isn’t my cup of tea.

The end of the book hints at a new romance in the series, which already seems so much better than the first book. From what I have gathered, the trope is player guy that has been secretly obsessed with the team publicist who is the sister of one of the guys on the team. Already, this sounds way more promising.

The biggest thing I really appreciated was the single father trope. This is literally one of my favorite tropes ever. Also Logan and his daughter Poppy are so so cute together. This relationship saved this book for me. He has adorable nicknames for her, and he would quite literally do anything for her.

I’m a feminist, I swear, but this book was really testing my patience. More than once I wanted to throw hands at the heroine of the book Coco. She is probably one of the most aggravating characters I have read about recently. Literally every conflict in this book stems from her inability to act like an adult. She is also a raging hypocrite. At one point in the story, she knows that what she is doing is bad and you shouldn’t go behind someone’s back. Then she finds out that Logan had been going behind her back and trying to pay her hospital bills, something that she had guilt-tripped him into doing by the way, and she goes berserk. Like girl, please just stop.

Although Logan didn’t make me want to punch something, he also was just annoying. Never did I think I would say this, but he was too in love with her. None of the conflicts was his fault, but he is always the one begging for forgiveness. Like, please, run the other direction. Coco is TOXIC. And every single time I was reading his perspective, I wanted to throw up because his chapters were basically just, “OMG I love her so much. She is so perfect. She is the one for me. I can’t live without her!” even though they just met like 3 days ago. There is no way that you are that obsessed with her. GIVE ME A BREAK.

The plot development of this book is just so slow. Every chapter just seemed to drag on so slowly. Also I swear the same thing just happens 3 times in the book. She starts falling in love with him, she gets mad at him for something so minute, she kicks him out, he feels bad, he starts sending her gifts, she instantly forgives him. This EXACT sequence of events happens 3 times in the book. It’s so dumb and proves that their relationship has zero substance.

Basically this book is a wattpad story, and if you really want that type of story, this book is for you.

I couldn't finish with all the grammar and formatting issues. I really hope the final version is cleaner. I have a pet peeve for formating issues, and the plot was a bit all over the place. The author has potential but needs to spend more time editing before arcs are sent.

This was a cute, fun, quick hockey romance book. I love a figure skater/hockey player couple. I’ll keep and eye out for the next book in this series!

Gosh, I wanted to love this book. The female lead, Coco, was so adorable and determined, and Logan was a true heartthrob. My quibbles are twofold: First, Logan had almost no depth as a character. He was moony from the jump and fell waaaaaaaaaay too fast. It lacked any sort of even suspended-reality credibility. And second, perhaps because I read this as an ARC from NetGalley, just about every page had some sort of formatting or proofreading error. As an affirmed grammar corrector, this was like nails on a chalkboard for me. A heads up from the publisher would've made this more palatable for me.

I guess (?) this story was breezy enough to be mildly enjoyable, but I'll have a hard time remembering anything about it after a week or two. I had hoped for more.

This was a really cute hockey romance, albeit a little too faced paced for my liking. I really enjoyed the premise however and the characters were lovely.

Thank you to Netgalley and Siesta Key Publishing for this ARC, in exchange for an honest review.
Although I enjoyed some parts of the book, I struggled to continue reading. As an avid hockey fan, I found that some of the hockey terminology was used incorrectly, and it made it hard for me to enjoy that aspect of the book altogether. I think it is important to include the correct terminology properly when writing about a specific sport. I found that there was a lot of dialogue in this story, and the way the dialogue was broken up throughout the book was very confusing. I would lose track of who was speaking. I noticed quite a bit of punctuation and spelling errors that I assume will be fixed for the final copy. A good majority of the book was spent with Coco in the hospital, and I wish we had seen more about her getting back on the ice and working towards Nationals and the Olympics. I wish we had seen more of the story progress in general, three days in the hospital took many chapters, and yet she wasn’t even let out after that. There were a few instances where the content of the chapter was so similar I thought I had accidentally gone back. I love the relationship between Poppy and Logan but I felt like Poppy disappeared for a good chunk of the book. I wouldn’t call this a steamy romance, and I unfortunately will not be recommending this book to anyone who enjoys Hockey romance. This had the potential to be a great story, but I feel the execution has just fallen short.

This has to be one of my least favorite books I’ve read this year. So the figure staking FMC is hit in the head with a puck by the hockey playing MMC which puts her in the hospital, where we stay for 60% of the book. Let me repeat that for you! 60% of this book is spent with the female lead sitting in a hospital bed flip flopping between being in love with this guy she just met and mad that he’s the reason she’s in the hospital. Once we get out of the hospital all of the tropes i hate are somehow used, and with 10% of the book left the evil ex boyfriend we’ve never heard about before comes back. He somehow finds them in a BBQ place, calls her the c-word and says she ruined his life, and our male lead can finally show some personality by going all protective on this guy. Like, guys. This was an ARC but still… riddled with spelling errors, random bolded words, and punctuation mistakes it was so distracting. Oh, and he has a daughter who is in maybe 3 chapters, Vera Wang calls to design a skating costume, and even though there’s a fade to black sex scene in the beginning there is a wildly detailed one at the end. So many of these choices made no sense and I did not vibe.

Thank you netgallery, Lisa Daily and siesta key house for this arc for my honest review.
Unfortunately this one didn’t do it for me.
I liked the concept of this book and had high hopes but it didn’t feel like a hockey romance for me but it was more a hospital romance.
I felt it was super cringey at times and I didn’t feel the chemistry between the MCs.
The book felt repetitive and not much happened and the plot was very slow.

I did love poppy’s character though and loved the concept of the book.

"The Cutting Edge" by Lisa Daily seems like an engaging and contemporary sports romance novel that combines the thrilling worlds of professional hockey and Olympic figure skating. The description sets the stage for a story filled with excitement, romance, and a dash of deception.

Logan Rivers, a star pro hockey player, is facing a challenging period in his career as he grapples with a scoring slump. This relatable struggle introduces readers to the pressure and expectations that come with professional sports. The entry of Coco, an Olympic figure skater, as Logan's lucky charm adds an intriguing twist to the narrative. It's an unconventional arrangement that promises sparks and unexpected developments.

The dynamics between Logan and Coco are central to the story, as their connection grows amid the backdrop of the hockey season. The tension is heightened by Coco's hidden agenda, creating a sense of anticipation as readers wonder when and how Logan will discover her secret.

The mention of Coco's financial struggles and her deal with an assistant coach adds depth to her character and provides a strong motivation for her actions. It also sets the stage for potential conflicts and dilemmas that will keep readers engaged.

Overall, "The Cutting Edge" appears to be a promising sports romance novel that explores themes of trust, honesty, and the pursuit of success in the world of professional athletics. It's likely to appeal to readers who enjoy a mix of sports drama and romantic intrigue.

A cute, fast-paced, hockey romance with amazing banter! I loved Logan and Poppy’s relationship. Some of Logan’s and Coco’s relationship throughout the story seemed a bit forced. I wish there was some more spice between the couple. I was satisfied with their career endings and thought this was a cute rom-com story.

Thank you NetGalley and Lisa Daily for this ARC!
