Thank you in advance to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an ebook copy of this book.
This will however not influence my review.

The cutting edge sounds like a fun sports romance. I am a fan of ice hockey so I thought this would be a fun and easy read for me as it is a romance between a figure skater and an ice hockey player like in Icebreaker which I btw loved.

I read a few chapters which were nothing special but promised a fun read.
However when I came across the same few sentences in a span of a few pages, I decided to dnf.
Apparently this book wasn’t proof read by neither an editor not the author herself. I certainly hope this is the case, otherwise it’s just lazy writing.

Because of this I will not continue to read this book even a page further and strongly advise to proof read before publishing to avoid mistakes like that.

The Cutting Edge is a fun and short romance read.

It features Coco Charmaine, an Ice Skating Olympian and Logan Rivers, an NHL star. An accident happens and Coco ends up in the hospital, and it's Logan's fault!

I really enjoyed both Logan and Coco's characters, but Poppy was the highlight!

The majority of the book does take place in hospital, so I wouldn't necessarily call it a sports romance as there is not too much hockey playing etc. I also wasn't a fan of the third act conflict, but that might just be a me problem as I am not a fan of secrets between fictional couples.

All in all, a sweet little read.

I usually love a hockey romance but this one fell flat for me. The timing felt off, It was written like some chapters of the book were supposed a few days but suddenly a few weeks had passed which was really disorienting. There was one scene in particular where Coco’s friend suddenly appeared without being written in just to say a specific line when it didn’t make sense for her to be there. In addition there was an odd storyline added in about an ex boyfriend right at the end when it was needed to demonstrate that Logan was the big, tough overprotective guy, it absolutely felt forced. This felt like it was a first draft with plenty of potential but wasn’t quite ready for everyone to read. I really liked the world Lisa had created around the team and would be interested in reading the next in the series if it was a bit more polished.

I may or may not have a new book boyfriend, Logan is the biggest cinamon roll ever. The book needs some reviewing, there’s definitely some errors, some paragraphs are repeated, the characters lines are marked with “” and there are loads misplaced, which messes a bit with the reading, but personally I didn’t find it majourly disturbing. If you get mad with these things it might trigger you though. The story itself... is good. I melt for a good sweet romance and Logan and Coco are so freacking sweet together. There’s something that pissed me though: at some point a certain person comes in and Coco makes a decision I was absolutely sure was going to mess everything up and I was so mad for a part of the book. The end made up for it, so I can’t stay mad at it, but no doubt it was nerve recking trought a good part of it.

I absolutely loved this book, and could not put it down! I personally am obsessed with hockey romance books, so thought this was such a good addition to my collection. It was all written so well, and i absolutely loved the characters and the whole story line. I think it all tied together so well, and i will definitely be rereading this! I'm so excited for the second book, and would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who likes any type of romance books, but especially sports ones, as this is a professional hockey player and figure skater romance, which is always so cute, and is typically so well written! All in all, i would definitely recommend :)

A sweet and easy read!

However I did find it hard to connect with the characters! Overall this book unfortunately wasn’t for me but I can definitely see the appeal to this book and why others would love it, which is why I would still recommend this one!

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

This book is really sweet and easy to read. I love the dynamic of single dad hockey player x figure skater. I was immediately invested in the story and wanting to know what happens next in the story. I was a little thrown off by the errors and repetitive paragraphs. I thought something was wrong with me but no it continued. This book could use another round of edits for sure. I did enjoy this read. I love the dual POV and short chapters are my favorite.
I also did find the MMC Logan to be very... written by a woman in a very obvious way that i couldn't really picture a real man saying and thinking all the things Logan is.
Overall its a great story and I would like to thank NetGalley for the ARC.

This was a really cute and fun hockey romance read! If anyone was in need of a sweet romance this is what I would recommend!

First and foremost Poppy was absolutely adorable!! I wish we had more appearances from her later in the story as well. Her sass was hilarious!

Logan and Coco were sweet as a pair but also as individuals. I really enjoyed Logan’s secret cinnamon roll side and his absolute adoration for Poppy and Coco!

There is a third act breakup sort of. But truthfully I would not classify it as one. I blinked and it was over.

The pacing of this book did feel a bit wonky as the dialogue would be focused from day to day and then shift to skipping weeks at a time. At one point a chapter even went back in time a few minutes while under Coco’s pov. Up until about 50% through the book the setting is solely in a hospital and had that not been the case I feel the pacing would have been better.

Overall it was good and cute and I would recommend it but it wasn’t necessarily one that would make it to my physical shelves.

I really wanted to like this one, but I just don’t think it was for me. I ended up DNFing because I just did not love it and could not get into it. Giving it two stars though because Poppy was a sweetie and the potential was there, I just couldn’t get into it. Needless to say, I’m bummed, because I love sports romances— especially hockey romances!

I will say, I was expecting the published version, and I sincerely hope that is not the case for what I received. Some paragraphs were copied and pasted onto the next page, and there were many grammatical/punctuation errors. Normally, when there are mistakes like that I ignore them, but the ones in this book were just too distracting.

Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read this book!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced ready copy of “The Cutting Edge” by Lisa Daily. All opinions are my own.

“The Cutting Edge” follows Coco, an Olympic figure skater and Logan, a pro hockey player. When Logan is late to pick up his daughter from class, the teacher Coco brings her over to his rink since he works nearby. His puck hits her in the head and thus the meet cute begins.

The majority of this book takes place in the hospital rather than the ice rink. I didn’t love the deception/lying in terms of Coco being paid to be Logan’s “lucky charm” even if it was secretly his idea. I did like how he fell first and how much effort he put into apologizing to her and showing that he cared about her, that part was sweet.

As some other reviews have mentioned, a lot of errors in terms of spelling or grammar. Quotations in the wrong spot etc. Hoping that is fixed before publication. Not including that in my overall rating though.

A super-quick and really cute read! Was it a little predictable at times? Yes. Did that stop me from loving every second? Absolutely not!
Logan and Coco are really loveable characters and Poppy is a total star (I just wish we’d got to see more of her!)

3.5/5

If you're looking for an easy, light entry point for hockey romance this is the book for you. This is a light and fluffy romance that's light on the spice (but still maintains some great romantic tension) but still has some great banter. I like the fact that both the FMC and MMC are athletes with lofty goals and ambitions, and the story progresses with both their goals in mind (I'm rarely a fan of the "give everything in your life up for my goals" romance dynamic).

While I don't normally find myself into the single parent stories (it can be a tough when there are kid involved), this was done well and Poppy is easily my favourite character. Who doesn't love a sassy toddler who knows she runs the show.

Overall a fun read, and I would give this 3.5 stars.

The Cutting Edge is a book about love, dreams and the fear of losing it all. Coco and Logan's love story is a great one!!! It starts with us readers meeting Coco, as she finishes up her figure skating class which she teaches. She needs to leave but one of her students, Poppy hasn't been kicked up. Coco knows that Poppy's Dad works at the ice skating complex. She takes Poppy to look for her Dad when she enters a closed practice for Ice Hockey when she is hit in the head with a puck. Logan knows that he messed up, he's always liked, Coco. He avoided her at all costs out of fear of ruining the relationship between Poppy and Coco. He will do anything to help Coco and learns that he was always right about her. While not everything goes to plan with the couple, their love story is like no other.

I really enjoyed this book. I understand why others wouldn't love it, but it was funny and had perfect tension for me. While the medical side of things was so frustrating, and for someone with Medical trauma, it can be triggering. I loved the way from the moment Logan and Coco truly meet, it's love at first meet. I mean it is understandable why Coco doesn't love Logan to begin with. The tension is beautiful and I literally loved every second of it. There is a few spicy scenes and they do have good communication.

Thank you to Netgalley for this amazing read I received as part of an ARC!

Hockey & Skating, Single Dad Romance.

3.75 stars

This book starts out with quite a strong meet cute in the form of a hockey puck to the head. I liked the concept but I think that some of the aspects of the book fell short.

I liked the two main characters flirty banter, bonding over crappy day time TV , which is actually quite entertaining, and all the little jokes they make were done really well. I also thought that Coco and Logans daughters relationship was sweet (she coaches her ice skating lessons).

I didn't like how Logan grovelled when he was making up to Coco after the third act breakup. If someone were to send be un ungodly amount of gifts like that I would get so annoyed lol. He kinda just threw money at her and hoped for the best.

Overall, a nice, casual hockey romance read.

Thank you to Netgalley for the arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book just wasn’t for me and I DNF’d at 75%; I found the book really slow going, plus the fact that the Story revolves around the FMC being in hospital was a big no from me.

A cute rom-com. Definitely a pretty easy read with lots of romance and fun characters. An enjoyable read if your looking for something light with not a lot of substance. Premise was good however the execution was subpar

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read an arc of this book! I did find this book quite enjoyable, but I found the ending was rushed and not quite what I expected it to be. The conflict only lasted about a chapter, and it wasn’t even really a conflict. There were some plot points that were glossed over that I would have liked more information on (Coco’s backstory being one of them). I did find there were some small spelling errors and some repeated phrases, but that is nothing a quick editing can’t fix.

Loved this book, I love the plot, especially with this book’s plot involving a figure skater and a hockey player. Their dynamic just worked. This book was one I couldn’t put down, I loved it so much that I can’t wait into read it again.

Reviewed for NetGalley:

This had promise, but I slowly lost interest with the length of time the story took place in the hospital.

I did enjoy Coco’s character overall, the plot just dragged a bit for me
