This book is a cute, low-stakes romantic comedy which employs popular tropes to deliver a lighthearted and fun experience to the reader. It's not the next classic novel, but there's no harm in enjoying a bit of a treat now and then.
**A Heartwarming Tale of Deception, Luck, and Love**
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Lisa Daily's "The Cutting Edge" skillfully combines the thrill of professional sports, the excitement of romance, and the tension of hidden secrets, resulting in a compelling read that keeps you hooked until the very end.
At the heart of the story is Logan Rivers, a pro hockey player facing the challenges of a daunting slump. Daily paints an authentic picture of his struggles, making him a relatable and endearing character. When Coco, the aspiring Olympic figure skater, enters his life as a lucky charm, their connection sparks a delightful chemistry that leaps off the pages.
The premise, while seemingly typical, takes an interesting twist with Coco's hidden agenda. Her dilemma creates a tension that lingers in the background, adding depth to the plot. As she juggles her secret and her growing feelings for Logan, the story becomes a rollercoaster of emotions, keeping readers on the edge of their seats.
What makes this novel truly enjoyable is the well-developed characters. Logan's vulnerability and Coco's determination make them incredibly likable. Their personal growth throughout the story is both heartwarming and inspiring. The supporting cast, including the assistant coach and fellow players, adds layers to the narrative, enhancing the overall reading experience.
Lisa Daily's writing style is engaging, with vivid descriptions that bring the world of professional sports to life. The tension on the ice and the emotional turmoil behind the scenes are portrayed with finesse, immersing readers into the high-stakes world of professional athletics.
As the playoffs loom, the anticipation builds, and the question of whether Coco will reveal her secret keeps the reader engaged until the final pages. The pacing is well-executed, and the resolution is satisfying, tying up loose ends and delivering a heartfelt conclusion.
In summary, "The Cutting Edge" is a delightful blend of sports, romance, and intrigue. While the theme of deception adds a layer of complexity, it ultimately serves to highlight the importance of honesty and communication in relationships. If you enjoy stories of love, redemption, and the triumph of honesty, this book is a must-read. Lisa Daily has crafted a compelling narrative that will leave you with a smile on your face and a warm feeling in your heart.
I wanted to love this one I really did, if you know me then you’ll know I’m obsessed with a hockey romance but erm!! This appeared ONCE in this whole book! How can it be a hockey romance if it appears only once. I felt the story was slow and drawn out and could definitely have had things cut of but listen if you want an insta love single dad romance this one is for you it just wasn’t the one for me.
I just think I’m realising insta love is not my cup of tea 😢
Thanks so much to Siesta Key and Lisa Daily for the ARC copy of this book. Such a good quick Hockey romance book. If you love any type of Hockey romancey books this one is for you! This is my first Lisa Daily Book I have read and am definitely looking forward to reading more of her work.
I wanted to love this book. I mean, figure skater + hockey player romance is - as a figure skater myself - kind of my favorite thing.
But it was terrible, and very obvious that the author didn't do much research into hockey or figure skating. The timing of events in the book were so off. The figure skater is preparing for national as the hockey player is in the playoffs for the Stanley Cup. Uh, nope. She also wears a dress to skate in while she's coaching, which does *not* happen. Most my coaches look like human marshmallows, even or especially while coaching kids. I'll allow the whole "hockey wives and girlfriends flying privately to away games" because damn, that's cute. But pretty sure that's not happening either.
Anyway, if you don't know anything about figure skating or hockey and want a cute but ridiculous romance, I'd probably give it 3.5 stars. but for me, it's a two star read, a "meh, don't bother reading this". It lit up my skater girls' group chat for all the wrong reasons.
I was provided an ARC copy of this book through Netgalley. My thanks to the publisher and the author for providing it to me.
This was a fun if slightly predictable rom com. The banter was great and the characters were well written. Sometimes, all you need is a nice, trope-y book, and this did the trick!
A cute and easy to binge hockey romance. I rated it 3 stars.
A bit of a hard read due to needing further proofreading, but the story had me smiling a bunch as I read it and the cheese factor was high!
Coco is a witty FMC and Logan is a golden retriever of a MMC. Together they make for a cute pairing, and 5 year old Poppy is adorable and oh so smart. I wish there had. been more Poppy in the 2nd half of the book because she was a really cute and well written kid.
I love sport romances and did enjoy this one.
This book was so stinking cute. It was really endearing at first but it was a bit grating towards the end!
Both Logan and Poppy were great main characters but there wasn't much plot other than their relationship
I would've liked to see more hockey since this was deemed "hockey romance" angst and character development.
Still a great fun read!
Hockey player Logan and figure skater Coco have you hooked in The Cutting Edge. They navigate feelings on and off the ice. It's a sweet and light hearted read that will have you not wanting to put the book down.
This book was cute. It was super cheesy and at times I found it unrealistic, I would've liked to see more angst and character development. This book is advertised as a hockey romance but there wasn't much hockey. I loved Logans relationship with Poppy, it was extremely sweet. Overall it was cute and I would recommend it to someone who is dipping their toes in sports romance. As someone who reads a lot of them this didn't feel like a true sports romance in my opinion. It was just about a guy who happened to be a hockey player.
Unfortunately the quality of the ARC I received contained mostly blocked out sections, even re-booting and another download didn’t make a difference. So it made for very difficult reading and I was unable to understand any of the story.
I will always love hockey romances. I really enjoyed this book. I loved all the tropes and how they were written. Would definitely recommend it to other sports romance lovers.
The Flyers season beings tomorrow so it felt like the right time to review this baby. This was fun, lighthearted and has a silly meet-cute. This was short (under 250 pages) and I think it was the perfect amount of story. The single father trope was different in this one and very enjoyable - I love a funny kid character. What I really want to know - are NHL players are allowed to have their phones on the bench during game? Can you fly after having a skull injury?
While there were some sweet moments in this book, it mostly missed the mark for me. I understand that it's an ARC, but it needs some heavy editing. There were moments of nearly identical sentences and sentiments just a few pages apart. I did find Coco and Logan to be charming if completely unbelieveable and look forward to Cam and Lana's book.
I’ve been loving hockey romance more and more, especially with the cold weather coming, but I especially love hockey x figure skating romance - they’re just perfection!
The cutting edge was so nicely written! It had the single dad trope, rich and famous MMC, he falls first, as well as touch her and die. it was hilariously funny and had some of the best swoon worthy scenes I’ve ever read.
I found the pace at times to be a bit too fast/rushed and although advertised as steamy there was only 1 true spicy scene (in the arc copy I was given).
All in all, this was a fun read and the chemistry between the too MCs was electric! I highly recommend if you’re looking for a quick hockey romance read!

This was a cute little romance book. It's is very cozy. It definitely seems a lot like the Cutting Edge movies but overall really cute.
I've been on a hockey rom com kick right now and I enjoyed this one that was a hockey figure skating combined. I enjoyed it.
Absolutely loved this book, it got me out of my reading slump and is the second sports romance I’ve read and has sealed my love for them!
Who doesn’t love the hockey player/ figure skater trope??! Lisa did it in a way that was different but still comfortingly reliable! I love a good hockey series! Get ready for a steamy story that just might melt the rink!!
