This is a really nicely thought out cook book. Lots of fun recipes to try. The savoury meals are very meat heavy so if you don’t like that then maybe this is not for you. But overall pretty lovely meals. Definitely gonna try a couple of them!!

A very interesting read and a lot of props to the author for her creative and fun dishes! I personally would've loved to see photos for each recipe - or at least illustrations for them all, as it was very hard to tell what we were supposed to be making at times - and the recipes didn't feel very substitute-friendly for those of us with allergies or limited diets. I also found the white text on black to be very hard to read, though I aporeciate the retro titlescreen effect it was achieving.

All in all, a fun, nerdy read that satisfied the gamer in me.

Each recipe comes with interesting factoids about it's gaming origins as well as hints and mods to help out with crafting.

This is book was just ok. I was disappointed that real food photos were not included in the book to see what I will be making. I found the recipes complex and difficult to follow, but if you're a super fan or nerdy like me and want to commit to this it's a fun alternative.

This is a really creative way of putting forth a recipe book. This holds a variety of recipes including recipes based on retro video games, such as pokemon, pacman, mario brothers, etc. While I might not become a great chef based on this book, but this might be a great way to start your child cooking with your help. Also a great gift for people who love retro video games, or video games in general.

Have you ever wanted to make food based on your favorite video games well now you can with the video game chef cookbook from games like Pac man and Super Mario to games from the early 2000s

Now I will admit,there is no hope of me being a star baker chef that would make the delicious food that’s shown on most cookbooks. I was disappointed that we didn’t get to see Reeder’s “real life food” for each dish they made. I just would have liked to see what they looked like regardless. I just felt the graphics in this didn’t give me the wow factor. Good effort overall but the graphics weren’t above the list for me unfortunately..

I really wanted to love this but it was just okay. It didn't deliver as much as I would have like it to.

DNF doesn't matter in which page, because this DNF is not something bad with the book, i just thought there would be more balance between Game lore and cooking recipes (Which is unrealistic, the book is literally a cooking book)
The Author sounds like an amazing chef, i was salivating at some of these stuff, and i was suspicious of others, looking at the red potion recipe >.> 🥤<.<
I loved her forward so much, i think it's pretty sweet and cute.
I will not be reposting this review, so that someone who actually gives the book the time it deserves, finish it and write about it get the spotlight.
Book is recommended, to People who are interested in learning Games cooking recipes, the author shows a lot of ingenuity in that regard, To all Moms like the author who want to video game and cook for her children, to all moms like the author who would love to surprise their kids with a game oriented meal in their birthday, the book covers 76 games.
And to dads too, WTH, my dad just made me a sandwich after all!

A cool concept for a cookbook for sure! I think gamers would appreciate it more than non-gamers, but the recipes look yummy. I liked how each recipe has a blurb about how it's connected to a specific video game. Thank you Netgalley for a copy in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.

This recipe book is really neat and I genuinely enjoy the concept of a lot of these foods. I am very excited to try the simpler recipes. However, I think there are a lot of recipes in this book that are very time and energy intensive. Some of these recipes would even require me to buy some new cooking equipment which I find surprising considering that I thought of myself as a rather invested home cook.

FINALLY a gamer cookbook that features recent games, and recipes for old games that aren't frequently put into books!

I thought this was really cute and amazing to see a cooking book like this. I enjoyed them took screenshots of what i wanted to try which was practically the entire thing. I loved it.

Like everyone here, I would appreciate some more pictures of the actual food. Im a visual person so I need the guidance of an example please please please. Also i love the chronological order but I think it would be amazing to divide them from apps to dessert as well as difficulty (in order) other than that it was simple to follow and I made a fee things from it. Although I had to google search images for it. I enjoyed the concept and the recipes.

I loved this book! It was so unique! I know the teens (and even the adults) will love this book and want to try out the recipes!

This is such a great looking cookbook! It has such a wide range of foods, and I love how everything is based on games ordered by the years the game was published. The tone is very tongue in cheek with plenty of clever gaming references turned in to cooking metaphors while the instructions themselves are clearly laid out and accessible to beginners and experts alike. I also greatly appreciated that in the back the recipes were also listed in order of difficulty, as well as meal type in case you were looking for something specific. The only small problem I had was that while I loved the clever titles of each recipe tying them to their video game, I sometimes struggled in figuring out what type of food it actually was. That being said, it seems as though all of actual names of the types of food are listed in the index, so you can figure it out with a bit of work. If you love video games, new or old, and are interested in cooking, I highly recommend checking this book out.

I truly loved this. The little snippets of why that recipe and why that game were hilarious. The food all look incredible and this gave me a such wholesome nostalgia and instantly made me want to go back to some brilliant games from my past. Cannot wait for this to come out.

The recipies are fun and very fitting for most of the games featured, though I must admit that some of them seemed a little plain and uninspiring, the lack of actual photos of the dishes lessened my excitement, and eventhough the illustrations are very well done they weren't too inspiring in and on themselves.
It's also a bit difficult to navigate since It's by era rather than mains, dessert etc.

All in all it's fun but nothing too mind blowing, sadly.

Yes, i want to try so many of this receipts. It seems well explained. And have a lot of diferents games, great selection. It would be great some indication of the vegan, vegetarian etc to the receipts.
