This is a good book. The two main characters are Amelia and Theodore. They have known each other for all their lives. Amelia has just graduated college and can’t find a job. Amelia calls his friend Theodore, asks him if he needs help on his ranch. Theodore says yes he will hire Amelia. He does hire her. There is an instant attraction. They can not keep their hands off each other. They fall in love.
This was a fun, quick read about a girl discovering herself again after a bad breakup and falling into an age gap relationship complicated by his close friendship with her parents. Their love story felt very sweet, though this story lacked both depth and spice, as it was a novella and not a novel.
This book was a fanning-all-the-time menace! Great sexy story that could have been some pages longer as I was so enthralled it it! I understand that this is a novella but for me to have enjoyed it more it has to be longer so the romance could have been more explored. I always find that I enjoy billionaire romances best when the MMC is controlling and obsessed over the FMC and I didn’t feel as much that in this book and also there was not the usual flashing of the lifestyle that we normally see, I feel that by having the word billionaire in the title we would expect it to appear more often in the book than it does. All-in-all, I enjoyed this story as it was a refreshing new take on the trope!
Amelia, reeling from a painful breakup, returns to Denver seeking a fresh start. Desperate for a job, her father arranges for her to work on a horse ranch owned by his best friend, Colin. Initially a grumpy rancher, Colin's demeanor changes in Amelia's presence. Despite being labeled as a billionaire romance, the story focuses more on an age-gap and grumpy/sunshine dynamic with a quick, steamy resolution. The title may mislead readers expecting opulent lifestyle depictions typical of billionaire romances. The age-gap theme, with the protagonist at 24, is subtly overshadowed by parental influence, sometimes veering towards an underage dynamic. While the novella delivers standard love scenes, the erotica aspect unfolds gradually, with the spice level being moderate. A quick, steamy read with a happily-ever-after, but not strictly adhering to traditional billionaire romance tropes.
While I would've liked to see more dialogue and relationship development between the two main characters, this was an enjoyable novella with a great ending.
What a fantastic short story!
I absolutely loved Amelias and Teddy's love story, and so wished there was more!
🖤grumpy x sunshine

"From some angles, he almost looks like the dashing cowboy in a Western movie."
There is some more smut parts but it's only 🌶.

Hot damn, this was mega sexy wrapped up way too quickly, I could have definitely read a couple hundred more pages, especially with that kitchen scene…. What a toe curler, pardon me while I fan myself…… Yup this was unexpectedly endearing and did I mention super hot!
It’s a nice short romance novel with horses set at a ranch. I’m not much into the age-gap trope with this large gap but here it was well-written and was the source of the main conflict while making the chemistry between the main characters more palpable. I liked Amelia’s sunshine to Theodore’s grump, they made a good match. Amelia’s parents’ behaviour was a bit much, treating their adult daughter like a child who’s not capable of making a decision about her life. I liked the setting with the horses. Overall, it’s a quick, easy and enjoyable read.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me a copy of the book.
In My Billionaire Rancher: Secret Loverreaders are treated to a delightful, slow-burn romance filled with forbidden love and heartfelt emotions. The story follows the journey of a young woman whose life takes an unexpected turn after a broken engagement and a job loss. Returning home to Denver, she seizes an opportunity on her dad's friend's ranch, where she meets Theodore Woods, a gruff yet captivating billionaire rancher and her dad's best friend.
The author expertly crafts a tale of age-gap romance that leaves readers yearning for more. The chemistry between the feisty heroine and the alluring billionaire is palpable, and their slow-burning connection adds depth to the narrative. The forbidden nature of their relationship adds an extra layer of tension and excitement, keeping readers hooked until the satisfying conclusion.
I just finished reading My Billionaire Rancher: Secret Lover by Lavender Skye, and let me tell you, it's like a slow-burning fire that will set your heart ablaze. Picture this: a broken engagement, a devastating job loss, and a desperate return home. But then, fate brings me face-to-face with Theodore Woods—a gruff, ruggedly handsome billionaire rancher who happens to be my dad's best friend.
Listen, folks, this book is the epitome of forbidden romance done right. Lavender Skye weaves together a tale that had me on the edge of my seat, rooting for the feisty, younger heroine and her sizzling connection with Theodore. The age gap adds an extra layer of tension, making every stolen glance and lingering touch feel electrifying. And let me tell you, the chemistry between these two characters practically leaps off the pages!
If you're in the mood for a slow-burn drama that will make your heart race and your cheeks flush, My Billionaire Rancher: Secret Lover is the book for you. It's a standalone, full-length novel that will keep you hooked from start to finish.
When Theodore Woods hires his best friends’s daughter, Amelia Rhodes, he expects some pampered city girl to walk through the door. What he gets though is a hard headed, sassy young woman who challenges him at every turn. When dislike turns into passion they’ll have to figure out how to keep their relationship a secret while also guarding their own hearts.
I’m a fan of a quick spicy novella, however some things just felt off in the story. I read many age gap novels, however their gap was not only physically large by about thirty years, but mentally large due to the Amelia acting like a teenager the whole time. The spice was pretty disappointing while also being a large portion of the plot. Honestly a lot of the writing was a little cringey to read.
2/5
I’d read the reviews so I knew going in that Amelia was immature. But I wanted an easy short book after a difficult read. So I decided to just go with it.
And it’s nice enough for the most part. I liked Theodore and wanted things to work out. In fact I was congratulating myself since I didn’t find Amelia that annoying early on. But wow did that change. I couldn’t wrap my head around the fact that she was supposed to be 24 years old.
It’s a shame really.
I voluntarily read a review copy kindly provided by the publisher and NetGalley.
If you love an age-gap romance this is a great read.
Even though it was only a novella the story didn’t feel rushed and it was great to see the progression of the relationship between Amelia and Teddy.
Will definitely pick up more from this author.
While I'm nor opposed to age-gap storylines, I would at least expect the younger character to have a certain level of maturity, and for me this was seriously lacking in Amelia. Overall, for a short story it was OK, but not really to my taste.
It is a romantic novel with an age gap between the main characters, one of whom is the best friend of the female character's father. The female protagonist was unlikeable and acted immaturely.
Thanks to Netgalley for providing a copy for an honest review.
Amelia leaves New York and heads back home to Denver after a messy break up with her fiancé. She doesn't want to be a burden to her parents and is looking desperately for a new job so she can start over on her own. With no luck, her father reaches out to his best friend who owns a horse ranch to see if he can take her on. Colin is a grumpy rancher that remembers Amelia as a bratty kid but that quickly changes when he realizes he can't function properly in her presence.
As a novella that I read in under two hours this was a quick steamy read. It is an age-gap and grumpy/sunshine story with a HEA.
A few things that were not my favorite about this read:
* I felt the title was slightly misleading. The word Billionaire is the second word in the title, and while it was mentioned 2 or 3 times in the book, it is no way a part of the story. Typically with Billionaire romances, there is a lot of flashing of the lifestyle and the FMC usually has to come to terms with being spoiled. There was none of that in this book.
* While there is an age gap, the FMC is 24 but all of the parents "letting" her do things and treating her like she was still in high-school was not my taste. I understand taking your parents opinions into consideration, especially when you live under their roof, but this read more like an under age romance gap instead of the FMC being a full blown adult.
* As a steamy novella that is considered erotica, the first love scene didn't appear until half way through the book. The love scenes were ok but were pretty standard. I would say the spice was 🌶️🌶️.
Thank you to NetGalley for an Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
I had a great time read this Book. The characters are amazing and the storyline amazingly entertaining with plenty of steam and twists to satisfy my reading needs. I look forward to reading more by this author.
This was an ok read for me probably because I've read a slew of this romance theme. If you're looking for "romance" that's surface level, nothing too deep or detailed then this meets that expectation and will be the perfect reading getaway. Although risqué situation, not many steamy scenes, a bit of drama and a few sweet moments.
This is a romantic novella in the age gap genre and i have read a couple of these books and i enjoyed them and will continue to read this genre, that being said this book just did not entertain me enough to enjoy it.
The characters are underdeveloped maybe because its a novella I’m not sure.
The female lead was unlikeable and appeared and acted a lot younger than her years, i kind of liked the male lead but still not enough.
It was lucky this book was a short as it was as I’m not sure if i would have finished it.
Not sure if i will read this author again but then again i might try one more and then decide.
