This story captivated me with its blend of romance and suspense. In this second installment of the Benedict Brothers series, I dove into the intricate world of Franklin Benedict's heirs, their wealth, and the shadows of their past. The story centers on Bea Jacobs and Knox Benedict, a couple facing hurdles from Bea's traumatic accident. Bea's PTSD and anxiety felt palpable as I journeyed through her struggles. Despite missing the first book, the plot slowly unfolds, revealing layers of family secrets and threats. Despite their separation, Knox's unwavering devotion to Bea's safety was heartwarming. I craved more backstory about their relationship, yet appreciated the suspenseful narrative filled with unexpected twists. Tara Sue Me masterfully painted the characters' emotions, making me eagerly await the third book to unravel the lingering mysteries.
Seductive Lies by Tara Sue Me is book two in The Benedict Brothers Series. This is the story of Knox and Bea. This is a interconnecting series so it does help to have read the previous book if felt. Bea was beating really bad and she knew for her and Knox safety she needed to stay away from him. But Knox is out to find who did this. Enjoyed.
Honestly, I didn’t like this as much as the first book. Knox and Bea was very devoted to each other, they really loved each other. The status of their relationship was a bit surprising. The story was a bit slower, wasn’t as action-packed, the on-goings didn’t even make me flinch. The ending was not shocking, altough I’m curious how everything will turn out in the final book. Nevertheless, it was still enjoyable and I still recommend this series.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me a copy of the book.
Let me start by saying that I did not read the first book in this series, and I picked this one up because the blurb sounded good, and it said it could be read as a stand alone. While technically true, it CAN be read as a standalone, let me say I do not recommend it. I could tell I was missing alot of information, it kind of felt like I was dumped into the middle of a story. While I was able to follow along, I know it would have made alot more sense if I'd read the first book. That's the main reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5, simply because I was confused by alot of things because it shouldn't be read as a standalone.
Having said that, I really enjoyed the story! I like Knox and his family, and I liked Bea. I like the dynamic between them, although she did things at times that I found frustrating! But it was a good story, it built suspense, and now I really want to go back and read book one, and THEN read the next book! It leaves you with a bit of a cliffhanger and I need to know what happens next now!
Seductive Lies is the second book in the Benedict Brothers series by Tara Sue Me and follows Bea and her kind of secretly estranged husband Knox Benedict. I hadn’t read the first book so I did feel I was at a slight disadvantage but eventually I caught up with the general gist of what was taking place.
Bea had been in an accident some weeks ago and was experiencing some intense PTSD and anxiety. Following her traumatic experience she decided to end her whirlwind marriage and try to carry on life normal.
Knox was devastated by the separation and continued to keep an eye on Bea as she has worsening anxiety attacks and some threatening notes begin showing up again. As her stalker returns with the threats becoming more invasive and violent, Knox takes no risks with keeping Bea safe.
I definitely think I would have experienced the story better through reading book one as the first 25% of Seductive Lies was confusing to me as I tried to catch up with previous events.
It was a quick read with a satisfying but teasing end, preparing the reader for the third book as it appears the stalker Bea faced was only the beginning. Knox and Bea were great together although there was no build up in anticipation for their romance as it was already established.
As always with shorter books, I personally feel I could connect with the characters and story better if it had been longer but that’s just my personal opinion.
Thank you for the eARC!
I enjoy Knox and Bea’s relationship and the chemistry that the two of them have. There is a lot of danger surrounding the both of them and Knox just wants to do everything he can to protect her, even if she wants to handle everything in her own way.
Their story is suspense heavy though and I do wish there was a little more of their romance in it at times.
While this is book two in the series and each book is a different brother, the suspense and mystery aspect it continues through each book so it is really best to start with book 1 to fully understand everything that is going on.
If you’re looking for a secret marriage, romantic suspense check this one out.
Success. Wealth. Power. Franklin Benedict left his three sons a legacy and an empire, and the brothers are now at the helm of one the most powerful shipping corporations in the world.
The blurb of this book said that the books can be read as a standalone and that they all have a HEA with an overarching mystery that doesn’t get solved until the end of book three. I didn’t think that this book read well as a standalone and there was just too much that you could tell happened in the first book that would make so many things make more sense. I also didn’t really get a HEA feeling from the ending of this book, like they were together but it didn’t feel like the end of their story as there was kind of a cliffhanger.
I didn’t feel the chemistry between the two MCs and I think that also had a lot to do with whatever I missed from the first book. Like they were already married by the second book so you miss out on them falling in love. So I guess my suggestion is that if you’re planning on reading this series the read it from book one 😊
Thanks to #NetGallery and the publisher. I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Ms. Tara Sue Me it was a pleasure reading Book 2 of the Benedict series.
For future and current readers reading this book I must say that it kept me wanting more from begining to end. Although it Is not a standalone becaise I never read book one and missed how Bea (Beatrice) Jacobs Benedict met and fell in love with her husband (playboy and wealthy) Knox Benedict (son of Franklin Benedict). Bea is a victim of physical and mental abuse from an unknown asailant that has caused her to flee from her husband and live in a state of fear. She is finding it difficult to live the life she's accustomed to and Knox (her handsome husband and hero) tries to grant the wishes of the woman he loves ends up becoming more and more involved and finds it harder to stay away. This book is fantastic and will leave you on the edge of your seat. Especially when the other Benedict family members get involved, and Bea's family. The Benedict family is full of secrets and yet Bea also has a few of her own. I literally could not put ithe book down. If you are looking for a good read with suspense and romance this is most certainly the book for you. You will not be disappointed!

Almost startling from go!
Since this was book two in the Benedict brothers series I thought I knew what to expect. While yes the writing is consistent that didn’t take away from how quickly I got sucked in. The author writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.
Authors Blurb: Success. Wealth. Power Franklin Benedict left his three sons a legacy and an empire, and the brothers are now at the helm of one the most powerful shipping corporations in the world. Though they were raised as southern gentlemen, they have no problem living up to the playboy label they’ve been given. Secrets. Lies. Betrayal.
But their father left behind something else. Something he thought long buried in the dark corners and the ever churning tide of the Charleston low country. And that something has the potential to tear apart the brothers and the women they’ve come to love, if it doesn’t destroy them all first. Originally published as The Sons of Broad Series, all books have been rewritten and reedited. Each book tells the story of one brother. They can be read as standalones (with HEA) but the overall mystery won’t be solved until Book 3.
Book Two: SEDUCTIVE LIES (Originally titled DEADLY SECRET)
Bea Jacobs didn’t think she’d find anything when Knox Benedict asked for her opinion on old business files. But after being warned to stay away from the Benedicts and nearly beaten to death by an unknown assailant, she’s certain there’s something there. Though she’s willing to keep digging, her first priority is keeping Knox safe.
Knox is concerned with two things: finding out who hurt Bea and winning her back. And he’ll do anything to keep her safe, except leave her alone. He’s sure of her love for him, but suspects she’s keeping something from him.
Bea isn’t the only one with secrets. They are everywhere, from long lost letters to their own family members to the reappearance of a troubled young woman with her own burdens. Bea and Knox have the most unexpected secret, but someone close is hiding a deadly one, and they’re going to show Bea what happens when she ignores warnings.
This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.
Thanks Netgally for letting me read and review.📚💕
Bea is still reeling after being beaten and given an ominous warning to stay away from Knox Benedict, the man she secretly married. She tries to push him away for his own safety, but Knox isn't intimidated easily. He's ready to fight for what's his.
After another attack rocks Bea's world, she stops trying to be the hero and finally let's her husband help her. The mysterious file that started all the trouble leads the pair down a dangerous path, and the identity of a newfound family member will change the lives of the entire Benedict family.
Seductive Lies had mystery, intrigue, and a man who'd move heaven and earth for his wife and family. The action was nonstop and it seemed like every chapter peeled back the layers to reveal a new mystery.
The romantic aspect of this book fell a little flat for me. There wasn't a lot of depth to it. The author told us how dedicated the couple was to each other, but I couldn't really feel it. Bea and Knox were, themselves, difficult to relate to. Even though this book didn't end up working for me, I'll be checking out other novels by this author for sure. She seems like a wonderful writer!
Fans of mystery novels will love the intrigue and suspense. It'll keep you guessing and wanting to reach the end to see how far the rabbit hole goes!
Thank you, Tara Sue Me and NetGalley, for the opportunity to read this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Review
When I first started this book, it took me a while to get into it. I think if it had been an audible book I would have had no problems.
The grammar was good for the most part, however, there were a lot of mistakes throughout the book. Mostly extra words in sentences that did not make sense, or missing words in sentences.
The story itself was really good. I loved the suspense part of it. The suspense was definitely throughout the whole book even til the end. I hate cliff hangers, however, this one does make me want to read the next book in the series.
The characters were all great with their own personalities. The main female character did irritate me a lot because of her decisions. The main male character is your normal romance hero that saves the day which is fine.
Overall I would give the book 4 out of 5 stars mostly due to the grammar needing to be fixed/edited. Can’t wait for the rest of the story!
This is book two in The Benedict Brother’s series and it is Knox and Bea’s story and it is definitely a must read. When Bea was attacked and beaten so badly that she needed to stay in hospital the last thing that she could remember was to stay away from Knox because the next time it would be one of there lives so Bea knew even though it would be hard to do she needed to do it too save both of there lives. Knox is furious about Bea being beaten but what was more surprising was when she told him to go and she never wanted to see him again but Knox was determined to find out who did this and why and he wouldn’t give in until the threat had been dealt with especially as he seemed to think that it had something to do with his family and also what nobody knows including his family is that him and Bea are married which is making everything even more difficult but his love for Bea is so strong that he will never give up on them regardless of what happens and what he had to do. Danger is all around them and they don’t know who to trust or who it is and why they are being targeted but as the body’s are still piling up and the surprises keep coming will they be able to keep safe and protect each other before everything is taken away from them all. Wow I absolutely love this book with all its twists and turns along the way and I couldn’t put it down because it had you turning the pages while having you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next and then you get an explosive cliffhanger that will have you needing the next book to see what the outcome will be for them all in the end.
As soon as I started this one I knew I had read it before. It was previously published as Deadly Secret by Tara Thomas and the series was the Sons of Broad. Fans of romantic suspense will love it. It doesn't read well as a standalone as the stories are very interconnected. It features great characters, lots of suspense, and sexy romance.
why would you go somewhere alone with the one person you were warned about?
thank you to netgalley and the publisher for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
If you love suspense and mystery in heavy dose in your romance, Seductive Lies by Tara Sue Me is a perfect choice for you. This secret marriage billionaire romance has twists after twists. Bea and Knox were fighting some real danger while finding a balance in their love life.
From the description, I assumed it can be read as a standalone. However, that's not right . Technically it is story of Knox and Bea's happily ever after but it is actually a continuing story about enemies of Benedict brothers and as soon as I read the first chapter, I realised I have dropped in middle of the story. The main couple is definitely Knox and Bea. But their meeting and how they fell in love and the secret marriage all happened in previous Benedict brother’s book. Here we are starting from a point where Bea has pushed Knox away to save him after an attack on her and it concerns their family business secret.
This story concentrates on how Knox protects Bea and how they decide to fight this battle against the enemy together. Knox is a billionaire alpha who is very protective and not being able to control Bea's safety was painful to him. Bea is a smart and strong woman but the attack left her shaken and traumatized. She tries to handle the trauma and the ongoing threat alone but it was too much and Knox stepped in to support her after much resistance on her side. The other brothers and the suspense take up a significant part of the story. I wish I could read the parts about how they fell in love and about their impulsive secret Vegas marriage. This one was all about the conflict and suspense.
I honestly picked this up because the author's old work years ago about BDSM that I loved so much. You will enjoy this too if you read the youngest brother’s book first.
I reviewed an early copy voluntarily
Wow! Plenty of suspense, surprises, and sexy scenes. Bea is an attorney who was beaten and left on the Benedict’s porch. Knox is rich and he and Bea secretly got married. When Knox comes to the hospital, she tells him to leave she never wants to see him again. See while she was getting beat up, the man told her to stay away from Knox or he’d be killed. So to keep him safe she tells him she wants nothing to do with him. But she is still getting threatening notes and phone calls. She finally breaks down and tells Knox everything. He moves her to his house because it’s safer there. They are trying to figure out who wants to kill them and why. But the danger is closer than either thought.
Cliffhanger. Shocking surprises. Love. This will have you biting your nails and wonder what will happen next. I read this in one day.
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for Netgalley *
** Also written as Tara Thomas DEADLY SECRET**
good book and fell in love with this book and story. another home run and good plot and wanted more. good read.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Good, fast paced story! Some interesting twists & turns which i did not see coming! Would be intrigued to read the rest of the series to follow the characters & their stories
I thought I could read this as a stand-alone without reading book 1 first, but sadly, I could not. At least not without being hella confused. I really liked the writing and the characters, so I tried to stick with it, but the story just went over my head. It felt like I was dropped into something and expected to know the situation and relationship between the characters and slide right into the action without any lube. I mean...they're married but it seems to be an "in name only" type of thing, yet there's no explanation given, which is only more confusing when you see how much this guy loves this woman he keeps referring to as his wife yet she supposedly wants nothing to do with him....? It is really odd to start a romance with one of them already neck-deep in love with the other. I will probably pick up book 1 and read it then come back to this later, because it did pique my interest.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing a free copy in exchange for my honest review.
In this sequel, Bea and Knox work to find their way to each other while sorting through mysteries about his family. While this mostly reads as a romance, it also has some thriller vibes weaved through and kept me wondering what the characters would find next. I read this as an ARC and did not have a chance to read book one, but I was still instantly rooting for Bea and Knox. The author made it clear that Knox loved Bea and would move heaven and earth for her, without the backstory of book one, which is quite a feat!
I enjoyed the writing style, it was a quick easy read. Overall, the plot did feel a bit far fetched, but I will eagerly be awaiting book three to see how things unfold.
