If you like your medical thrillers, you may like this one. The ending was superb and was actually what made the book for me. This book had me second guessing and I love that.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for providing this arc in exchange for an honest review.

Emily is a ded broke LPN who lands a job working for a really rich couple. The wife has mental instability issues and the husband is a psychiatrist who handles his wife's treatment. Emily is charged with administering the meds and basically babysitting the wife and her variable.behavior. Emily starts to think that maybe the wife is being over medicated and controlled by her husband because the wife has the money.

This was a pretty good read. I didn't know where it was going and didn't see the ending coming. I have read several books from this author and they are always pretty good.

The Nurse by Jenna Kernan introduces readers to a gripping narrative that captivates from the first few pages and sustains the suspense throughout its 402 pages. Emily takes a job working for Dr. Roth and his wife Sabrina, motivated by the need for money.

Dr. Roth imposes numerous rules, but Emily begins to notice that Sabrina seems more lucid when her husband is away. As Emily delves into the mystery, Sabrina reveals a tale of a terrible accident and a husband using medication to keep her trapped, while Dr. Roth insists it's all part of the disease. The novel takes readers on a roller coaster ride of twists and turns, keeping them engaged and eager for the next revelation.

This is a first for me by the author and one I enjoyed and I would read more of their work. The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

In The Nurse by Jenna Kernan we have yet another anxiety ridden young woman who defeated the odds and became the valedictorian of her nursing class and is now a licensed practical nurse and this is how she gets a job with Dr. Henry Roth to be a companion to his wife Sabrina they look like the perfect tuber rich couple he is the top psychiatrist in the area and she is a beautiful woman but not everything is as it seems she suffers from paranoia and thoughts of delusion or at least that’s what he told Emily when he hired her to be the caregiver to his wife Emily is a nosy person in the first chance you get to start going through their home and finds things that the doctor doesn’t want her to see she even spies on Sabrina and in the end it could cost her everything. Let me just stay upfront I love Jenna Kernan‘s historical romances and have loved her other thriller stories but this will not so much. For one thing it took forever to get to the nitty-gritty and I also didn’t get the hall if Sabrina suffered from paranoia and already thought Emily was following her why would Emily go snoop around her house I just thought that was weird not to mention as I said it took forever to get to the nitty-gritty and then even longer to get to the twist at the end which by then I’m not going to lie I was expecting it I still think some people would really enjoy this book I don’t know if it was my mindset today but this just wasn’t a book for me I found it only OK. I want to thank bookoucher and Net Galley for my free arc copy.

Domestic thrillers like this are typically told through the first person with an unreliable narrator. This book was different – using a third-person close narrator. This change in narration worked well for the story since we never doubted the situation that Emily found at the Roths’ home. It also caused me to question some of Emily’s decisions, which increased the suspense of the story.

great book! it kept me wondering about who was being honest. Had a cat and mouse feel which keeps the pages turning. Did not expect the twist at the end. Definitely a fun psychological thriller

The Nurse is written by Jenna Kernan. This is the first book that I have read by this author, and it will not be my last. This book drew me in within the first few pages = and did not let me go for the entire 402 pages. Emily takes a job with Dr. Roth and his wife Sabrina. It pays well - and she needs the money.

Dr. Roth has many rules. However, she starts to notice that Sabrina becomes more lucid when Dr. Roth is not home. Emily wants to try and uncover what is going on. Sabrina tells Emily that there was a terrible accident and her husband gives her the medication to keep her trapped. Dr. Roth states that the delusions are all part of the disease.

Oh, this book took me on a roller coaster ride. I would think that I had everything figured out - and boom another twist. The author has woven a brilliant thriller - and I cannot wait to read the next story.

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read a copy of this book - all thoughts are my own,.

** a huge thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and Jenna Kernan for the opporunity to review an ARC of this book**

3 stars!

Honestly, I expected so much more. The premise of the book is so enticing to me, but I felt like the story dragged too much. Nothing important happens until 50% through the whole book.

Once it picked up it got twisty, but it just didn't live up to my fact-paced thriller expectation.

The Nurse is a compelling read with a unique blend of suspense and emotion. The characters are well-developed, and the medical setting adds a very intriguing layer to the story. The plot keeps you guessing, and Jenna’s writing style is both descriptive and immersive 'The Nurse' is a solid choice for those seeking a gripping and well-crafted novel.
Thank you to NetGalley & the publisher for this advanced reader copy. All opinions and reviews are my own.

Domestic thriller fails to thrill.

Emily is an LPN hired to care for a wealthy woman whose psychiatrist husband claims that his wife, Sabrina, has a lot of mental health issues. Emily is less nurse and more babysitter as the days go by. Emily is suspicious that Dr. Roth is overmedicating his wife. Eventually Mrs. Roth is found in a hotel, dead by apparent suicide. But was it?

I had a lot of problems with this very slow moving and somewhat boring book. As a nurse myself, I had a real issue with Emily being an LPN but supposedly graduating with an associate degree. In the USA, a practical nursing program is a one-year certificate and not an ADN which would result in the graduate being eligible to sit for the RN exam. That aside, I didn't buy into Emily being any sort of nurse at all. She sure flouted confidentiality convention and would be a disgrace to her profession. Ah, but I digress, really. Just didn't like the story, the characters, or this silly twist.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the e-book ARC to read and review. I should have just put it down, but I felt forced to follow it through. Don't recommend.

I found myself speculating the whole time throughout this read and was pleasantly surprised by the unexpected twists and turns upon conclusion of the book.
It is definitely a thriller I would recommend to friends/fellow readers who enjoy being kept on their toes throughout a book.

Wow. This certainly kept me on the edge of my seat! A gripping psychological thriller with twists and turns aplenty, it kept me guessing throughout. With likeable (and quite loathsome!) characters, it's perfect to completely lose yourself in. This was the first time I'd read Jenna Kernan, but it definitely won't be the last!

I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I stopped at 35 percent. I just could not finish. The descriptions of everything was just too much and so long and boring and so repetitive about the same things. I also was so bored with all the comparisons.

I’m a sucker for books that are based in places that are close to home so this was an instant read for me. Other than knowing it was about a nurse & that it was based in Lakeland, FL I went in blind… but let me tell you, it did not disappoint! This was a quick, fast paced read with lots of twists & turns I did not see coming. The ending had my mind blown. If you’re a fan of books from authors like Freida Mcfadden, Jeneva Rose, Kiersten Modglin etc. do yourself a favor & pick this one up!

A huge thank you to NetGalley & Bookouture for an eARC of this title in exchange for an honest review!

I truly enjoyed this fast-paced psychological thriller. Easy to read and will keep you up wanting to keep turning the pages to find out what is going on. This follows a nurse, hired to care for a mentally ill patient, but is the patient truly ill? so many moral questions posed in this book. And the twist is a great! Did not see it coming and kept me guessing till the end. I will definitely read more from this author. Thank you to NetGalley and hte publisher for allowing me to read and review this novel.

A talented young nurse struggling to make her way in the world takes a chance on a job working with a wealthy, troubled woman. The plot here is dense with twists and the characters are all hard to pin down. It’s very difficult to decide who to trust as the layers peel away. A crazy thriller that sweats in the Florida heat!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my free copy. These opinions are my own.

This was very gripping and I enjoyed seeing how the plot unravelled. There was a lot revealed during the end of the book which, whilst being very clever, made it a little overwhelming. Still - great book.
