Love to Hate You is a re-titled Sweet Love and Country Roads by Camilla Isley and her new publisher. It is a funny enemies-to-lovers opposites-attract romance that could easily be made into a Hallmark movie. While Love to Hate You can be read as a stand-alone, it is the final book in the First Comes Love series.

We were introduced to the heroine, movie producer Samantha Baker, in The Love Theorem. The story begins with Samantha Baker being summoned to the head of Denouement Studios’ office in New York City to be informed that she must travel to rural Indiana immediately because the movie Sweet Love and Country Roads, of which she is the executive producer, is bleeding money. If she cannot get the movie completed within 3 months, the film will be axed and she will be unemployed.

Samantha and her capable assistant, Celia, travel to Emerald Creek, Indiana, where Samantha is a fish-out-of-water. She meets a handsome rancher/cowboy when a cow blocks the road on the way to their bed-and-breakfast, Sagebrush Ranch. Travis, the cowboy, happens to be the single attorney son of the B&B owner, Willette Hunt. Willette is a Paula Deen-type hostess and radiates hospitality to Samantha and Celia. Samantha has hilarious encounters with various animals.

On the movie set, Samantha discovers that filming delays are due to the Chief Location Manager’s inability to obtain permits from the Mayor’s office. Samantha fires him and visits the Mayor’s office herself. She discovers that Travis is actually Mayor Theodor Abraham Hunt. He extorts promises from her to make costly repairs to the filming locations in exchange for the signed permits. Samantha convinces Lionel, the film’s director, to film scenes out of sequence to allow them time to make the necessary repairs. She engages Lana, the heroine from The Love Theorem, to coordinate volunteer efforts to clean up the city’s beaches. Lana’s husband, Christian Slade, is the lead actor in the movie Sweet Love and Country Roads.

Camilla Isley consistently writes smart take-charge heroines who are very likeable, including Samantha Baker. There are plenty of comedic moments, and the reader gets a behind-the-scenes look at filmmaking. There are love scenes, but there’s no graphic sex. I love this story and its bonus epilogue. Readers will enjoy Love to Hate You more if they have previously read The Love Theorem, but it’s not necessary to follow the story. Definitely highly recommended!

I received an advance review copy (ARC) from NetGalley and Boldwood Books for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I loved this book! Love to Hate You, which was previously published at Sweet Love and Country roads tells the story of Samantha who is an absolute city girl. Much to her disliking, her boss sends her to live in a small town in Indiana for a few months to bring the filming of the movie she is producing back up to schedule. Samantha is quickly introducted to Travis Hunt who may be the reason for her movie being off schedule. Can Samantha survive a few months of "roughing" it in the country? This is my 2nd book by Camilla and just like the last one it was a totally adorable rom-com. I ate this book up, I finished it in 3 days. I can't think of one thing I didn't like about this book hence why it had to be 5 stars. If you love a good rom-com/enemies to lovers I highly recommend you pick up this book. It's out today at all retailers and on Kindle unlimited.

This book was really cute, sweet and a whole lot of fun. Samantha and Travis's story offers up a delightful blend of heart, humor and emotion. Travis is quite honestly endlessly swoon worthy and a gold medal heart stealer. If he doesn't lay siege to your heart, well my hat is off to you because obviously you are made of sterner stuff then I am. Lol Samantha, I grew to like but frankly it was a process. I get she was a fish out of water but "Girl, pull up those big girl panties and roll with the punches with just a little less bitterness, ok?" I simply adored Hildi. She was a quirky, charming scene-stealer.

I was blessed enough to receive this arc from @netgalley and @bookandtonic and @camillaisley but the thoughts and opinions of this review are my own.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was the just the sweetest small town romcom. You have a temporary transplant New Yorker, Samantha, living in a tiny Midwest town for 3 months while production ends in a film. She has to fight Travis the mayor for production to continue and her jobs depends on it. The pull they have towards each other is undeniable but hard to navigate with jobs on the line The plot, characters, wit and banter was perfection. Throw in the cat and pet goat and you can’t put this book down.

This book was a really cute and a fast read. I really enjoyed all the "cowboys" elements. City girl meet cow boy. Not to talk about all the animals in this book, specially the goat, oh my.... The only thing that got me annoyed is the FMC complains over her situation in the beginning. It was so annoying to read. It felt like Carrie Bradshaw leaving NYC for Texas.

I think most people would really enjoy this book.

Well it turns out I have a thing for cowboys, shame I live somewhere that although it has cows, doesn’t have the sexy hunk on a horse following them. Luckily for me though there are book ones and Travis is right up there with Luke from The Longest Ride.

This book had everything I love in a romance and it gave me all the feels. An independent, career driven feisty female who loves her life, a man who is at home both in jeans and a suit, an enemies to lovers trope, adorable animals and a little bit of spice.

I loved how I knew what was going to happen even before the characters did and the fun I had sitting back and watching it all play out. The teasing and tormenting from both sides as they played games with each other was just as tormenting for me as a reader and hell I would have been riding that cowboy quicker than the cat could sneak on the bed.

Another fun and romantic read from this author and my only addition would be please write a book for Amber and Duncan the Sheriff.

Thanks to the Blog Tour organiser & the publisher for inviting me on the tour.

This is the fourth book in this series, just look at that cover, isn’t it amazing?.

This time it’s Samantha’s story, we met her in the the first book she’s a Movie Producer and worked with Christian Slade on one of his Movies.

Her worse nightmare has come true she’s got to move to Emerald Creek, Indiana for the duration of a movie shoot ( Love to Hate You) to fix a few problems and it’s in the middle of nowhere, think Cowboy Land! and a Movie Set on a real Ranch.

Travis Hunt is the stereotypical Hot and Steamy Cowboy all of us dream about, he first meets Samantha when he rescues her from a cow that’s stuck in the middle

the road, he’s also the son of the B&B owner .

This is a tale as old as time, city girl falls for a country cowboy but do you know what? I loved every single page of it!.

It was SO captivating and sweet, a true romance with some laughs and heartwarming moments.

Another fantastic book by this author.

Travis Hunt was forced to give up his life as a big city lawyer when his father died and his mom was struggling to keep their family ranch afloat. And, unable to keep a long distance relationship going, he seems destined to avoid being set up by the daughters or granddaughters of the women of Emerald Creek, his hometown. That is until one day he meets a beautiful city girl in stilettos trying to sweet talk his cow out of the road.
Samantha is a movie producer from New York City, forced to nowheresville Indiana to oversee the filming that's fallen behind. Turns out the mayor is holding out on their permits in order to get more money and improvements for their town. When she sites up at his office, she's shocked to find out that he's the irritatingly hot son of her current landlady.
Ohhhh, Mr. Mayor! This charming cowboy checks all the boxes for Samantha and I hated the struggle of her having to leave for lack of job prospects and him unable to leave Emerald Creek. These two were so great together that I'm glad there was only a hint of a breakup before the inevitable brilliant solution and HEA. The side characters, small town busybodies, and especially the farm animals added a lot of humor to the story. This is the third book I've read in this series and I think it's also my favorite.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I've read one other Camilla Isley book and even though the books were different in terms of the setting I found that they read almost exactly the same. The characters feel like they are very similar between the two books and I'm hoping that the third book of hers that I'm currently reading is different. That being said I did find that the story read very quickly and while it was similar I still very much enjoyed it.

This was such a sweet book. I loved the small town cowboy story. I believe I’m officially in my cowboy romance era because Travis was it for me. The only thing I didn’t like about this book was the subtle spice. I feel like I couldn’t feel the passion between them. If you like a sweet romance this is the book for you!! Other than that I loved the banter between these two. I also loved the goat and the cat. Animals can persuade people more than people can.

I loved it! It was fast-paced, funny and there was palpable chemistry between Sam and Travis. The banter was great, the animals were hilarious (hi, Hildi and Fluffy), the setting and the side characters were lovely. At first, I didn’t really like Sam’s attitude being a typical city girl and Travis’ cockiness, but eventually they grew on me. I definitely recommend this!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me a copy of the book.

I buddy read this with a couple of my friends and have to admit this is my first Camilla Isley book BUT, it won't be my last. I absolutely loved it. I could have easily devoured this in one day. It's an easy, lighthearted, and romantic read. Main character Samantha finds herself in a small country town far from her busy city life. Enter all-around hot cowboy and mayor Travis, and now we have a story. Samantha's falling for the cowboy, and he's falling for her, too. But could they do long distance when she returns home? A cute, steamy, sweet, and opposites attract romcom. A well-deserved four stars from me.

This book gave us a look from the perspective of Samantha Baker, New York girl, city lover, and hard worker. She went to the small town site of the movie that she was working on to ignite the spark that was lost due to the pandemic occurring. There she meets Travis, the lawyer turned cowboy mayor. It was hate at first site, as this mayor was the reason that her movie was being placed on such a long hold. But she keeps seeing Travis everywhere, then Travis starts living in the same house that she does. Then sparks fly between the two.

It's funny because I thought that I would hate the female main character in this story, but I liked Samantha. She was funny, hard-working, and understood what she had to do in order to get the job done. Travis was smitten from the start, but couldn't keep Samantha more than an arms-length away.

I've never read a book from this author, but this was so cute! I love the small town trope, mixed with the enemies-to-lovers, a strong female main character, and a cowboy. Camilla Isley, you are a wizard with this writing!

This was super cute. They fell in love fast and I loved it. They just fit into each others life so perfectly. I would really like a chapter about them getting engaged, I just know it would be so good.

I received an arc through netgalley.

Samantha Baker is a feisty New Yorker with a no manure attitude and Travis is the small- town clever heartthrob and the son of Samantha’s B&B owner.

Two things Samantha loves, New York and her job but being a movie producer comes with its perks and downfalls. When her production of Sweet Love and Country Roads is behind schedule she is summoned to go to Indiana and get the production rolling back on schedule and budget. When she arrives in Emerald Creek with her assistant, she is surprised to find that they are staying at a quaint B&B where they are greeted by Betsy, a cow, and a hunky cowboy named Travis. Now, annoyed she had to leave her solitude of New York City, she quickly sees how things are negotiated in a small town where the small town hunky cowboy isn’t just a cowboy, Travis is the Mayor and a lawyer in Emerald Creek. Coming from a law firm in New York City himself, Travis finds himself smitten with Sam and covertly negotiates the town renovations and celebrations into the package of the film production only to prolong the production and Sam leaving town.

Emerald Creek isn’t New York but a goat named Hildi and a cake taste testing session has Sam rethinking where her heart is. This cute romcom is funny, adorable, hunky and has me wanting Camilla Isley to write a sequel including Duncan, the over confidence sheriff of Emerald Creek, with appearances to follow Travis and Sam’s story.

Thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

"Love to Hate You" by Camilla Isley didn't quite hit the mark for me. The story felt a bit too familiar and predictable, following a typical cookie-cutter romance formula. As a reader who craves angsty and spicy romances, I found myself yearning for more depth and complexity in the characters and their relationships.

While Isley's writing style was pleasant, I couldn't help but feel that the story lacked the emotional intensity and tension that I usually seek in my romances. It seemed to stay in the safe zone, missing the opportunity to explore the raw and passionate side of love that I enjoy.

If you're a fan of light and straightforward romance plots, this book might be more up your alley. However, for readers like me who prefer angsty and emotionally charged stories, "Love to Hate You" might leave you wanting something with a little more bite and spice.

This was such a fun and easy book to read. I loved Sam and Travis and their romance. The small town farm setting was also really charming and I loved it. This book would be perfect to get out of a reading slump. It was also very reminiscent of It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey which is one of my all time favourite romances.

This book was a cute and easy read! Not too short, not too long. It was a bit of a Sex and the City meets the country vibe for me. The MFC’s sense of fashion impressed me, and her character development was good. I love a good book where the city girl meshes worlds with a country man!

There is subtle spice in this book, and it was a nice touch. It focused mainly on the romance aspect and them falling in love. There were a few times I actually forgot I was reading!

The banter, the wooing, the conversations with Sam’s friends were all cute or funny. Perfect for this book.

The animals used in this book were one of my favorite parts. A goat and a city girl become besties? I’ll take it! I loved Hildi’s (the goat that she does morning yoga with on the farm) role in the story.

The plot twist at the end to give them their HEA was not what I was expecting! I was impressed with how everything tied back in together.

Tropes:
- small town
- rom-com
- subtle spice
- opposites attract
