This book was one of my highly anticipated reads and it did not disappoint!
I loved the slow burn and the representation of ADHD in this book like all of Chloe Liese's other books

Better Hate than Never is the second book in the Wilmott sister’s trilogy. Katerina or Kate is the youngest sister who we briefly met in Two Wrongs Make a Right when she returned from her job as a photojournalist due to an injury. Reluctantly she tries to find her feet once she’s back home but her fierce rival with family and childhood friend Christopher is reignited once again.
Christopher lives next door to the Wilmott’s and has done since he was a child who lost both his parents. He is close with the entire family and was a prominent side character in the first book. This was definitely not the case with the youngest Wilmott as they’ve butted heads since they were teenagers.
The two are forced back together and what was first labelled hate may just give way to lust or even love. The whole will they/won’t they is strong in this with a large portion of their distrust being down to miscommunication but that’s resolved fairly early on.
The couple’s chemistry is red hot and Chloe Liese once again wrote a great romance. I wasn’t obsessed with the book to warrant a four or five star read but it was fun, inclusive and steamy and definitely entertaining.
Thank you for the eARC! I look forward to reading the final Wilmott Sister’s book!

DNF at 20%

I’ve read some Chloe Liese books before and really enjoyed them but sadly this was a DNF for me. I just couldn’t get in to it all. I didn’t enjoy the writing this time and I really didn’t like either of the main characters.. there was just nothing likeable about them at all which make it even harder for me to get in to the story.

I will go on to read more books from her because like I said I’ve enjoyed her previous books that I’ve read, Better Hate Than Never just wasn’t for me.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book. This is so much better than the first book in the series. I had my doubts in the beginning as Kat came off as really judgemental and someone who looked down on others. But, as Christopher and Kat start developing their relationship, so did my love for this book.

The chemistry was sweet, romantic and lovely to read. The sex scenes were done with such care and intimacy it was beautiful to read. I love Christopher as a character and the way he manages to get Kate to open up.

The writing was a bit odd at times and didn't read very well but that's a minor point.

Enemies to lovers is my favourite trope but... Not like this. I feel like there was a bit too much time spent on the enemies part. I also couldn't for my life understand why these two hated each other so much. And my second fave trope is age gap but... Not with him falling for her before she even came to age.

I couldn't get into the characters, they made my skin crawl. However, the writing style was lovely.

Hands down the hottest Shakespeare retelling. To be honest, I didn't think Shakespeare could be hot, but Chloe Liese has done it again. I love how relatable Chloe's characters are, and I can always find a piece of myself in one of them, Kate and Christopher being no exception. I cannot recommend this book enough!

This book has me by a chokehold I loved two wrongs make a right when I read it earlier this year and was so excited when Netgalley approved me for this title.
This is about Kat and Christopher who have been in each others life for as long as both can remember, they don't like each other or do they?
This book had laugh out loud moments, sad moments and moments that you felt you want to whack the pair of their heads together because everyone had a feeling, they should be together but they were a little blind, it is slowburn which pays off deliciously.
When this book kicks off it is an emotional ride of two finally finding themselves and finding they are meant to be, there is also no 80% break up although part of me thought there would be, which made me so happy. As it is a trope that is often used and therefore made me a very happy reader.
Chloe Liese is easily an auto buy author now because I adore her writing so much with the representation that is in the book which feels authentic and the fact that it is makes it more impactful, I adored these two and cannot wait for the next one to come because I for one will be shouting all about it.

"And for those who’ve seen and loved those women for who they really are: big hearts, brave voices, believers in a world that can be better . And where two raging fires meet together, they do consume the thing that feeds their fury." — William Shakespeare, The Taming of the Shrew

This book is an enemies-to-lovers romance that had me hooked from the very beginning. This reimagining of Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew" tells the story of Kate Wilmot and Christopher Petruchio, two childhood enemies whose fiery animosity is reignited when they're brought back together as adults.

I loved the way the author brought her characters to life. Kate and Christopher are beautifully flawed and complicated individuals who feel incredibly real. Their development throughout the book is masterfully done. The chemistry between them sizzles off the pages, and their journey from enemies to lovers is a joy to witness.

Chloe's writing is soulful and honest, with just the right amount of steaminess to keep the romance enthusiasts (like me) completely engrossed. What sets this book apart is the sensitive and accurate representation of chronic illnesses and mental health issues. It adds depth and authenticity to the story, making it even more relatable. As a fellow neurodivergent, I felt almost every one of Kate's truths which she tried to hide. Thank you, Chloe.

The characters, including familiar faces from the previous book, add a sense of warmth and familiarity to the book. I couldn't help but fall in love with this close-knit world. The understanding and support they have for one another is epic.

The pacing of the book is spot on. It kept me engaged, eager to finish the story, and exhausted at work the next day. There are no unnecessary dramatic twists or frustrating cliffhangers. Instead, the characters communicate openly and maturely, which is refreshing. Not all love stories need angst.

In summary, "Better Hate Than Never" is a must-read for fans of enemies-to-lovers romance. I'd recommend it to readers of all ages who enjoy well-developed characters, sizzling chemistry, and a story that tugs at your heartstrings.

Don't miss out on this brilliant book.

Thank you to NetGalley, Chloe Liese, and the publishers for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Nothing pains me more than to rate this two stars cause I admire this author and their writing but BHTE didn’t work for me. I had my issues with book 1 but here there were just too many that influenced my overall enjoyment.

Kate and Christopher have know each other their entire lives. There’s a six year age gap. Their fighting and provoking behavior didn’t do what it was intended to do. Sadly it had the opposite effect on me. I didn’t feel any chemistry and it got dragged out. I felt they didn’t like one another when for Christopher it was supposed to be obvious to the reader that he felt much more for Kate. I needed teasing or something lighter cause it felt too serious and I know why he did it but it would been nice to mix it up.

When they finally started to get closer I sadly wasn’t invested and it felt the their relationship went from 1-10 with the snap of my finger. For Kate and how she felt about Christopher it felt too rushed. I needed more wooing.
The ADHD and migraine representation were great and the author always does her work on the topics.

Sadly Better Hate Than Ever wasn’t for me but that won’t change my admiration and wanting to read more from this author. I can’t wait to read the final Bergman book.

Thank you for the ARC.

I unfortunately really didn’t enjoy this book. I was so looking forward to it as the storyline and tropes sounded absolutely perfect for me and usually something that I love but in this book it just wasn’t for me. I nearly DNF’d a few chapters in as I didn’t like the authors writing style but I kept going and I actually thought the further into the book the better the writing got from the author, so for that reason alone I’m glad I stuck with it so I got a better perception of the writing.

The problem I had was the characters, specifically the main one but I just found them all so unlikeable and draining to read. I didn’t mind the male main character. But overall the story to me felt more concerned about getting representation for an array of things into the storyline rather than it adding anything. I love representation for everyone in all books and I always appreciate it from authors when it makes sense for the book but when it started to take away from the story and continually pull me out of the story then I know it’s not for me. I appreciate what the author was trying to do but it really didn’t work for me and I wouldn’t read anything else from this author unfortunately.

A really enjoyable slow burn romance that is a perfect read for the autumn season. The characters did seem overly child like at times but overall, I found them to be really compelling!

I love the Bergman Brothers books but sadly I’m not sure this series is for me :(

Both characters felt far younger than their years, which wasn’t helped by all the child-like nicknames used constantly throughout the book. The arguing over basically nothing felt petty and immature. I’d have been so frustrated if I were her family!

Without any redeemable qualities in either character, it was hard to root for either of them or them as a couple unfortunately.

chloe has done it again. I say this after every new book that she releases, but i’m saying it again. it was so warm, so heartfelt, so real that it might go to my number one chloe book. Better hate than never follows the wild child Kate and her so called enemy Christopher. the sparks literally fly off the page between them while always keeping Lieses special touch within it. Another easy 5* review for her and the wilmot sisters series and I can’t wait for the third and final one.

5 stars!

Chloe Liese remains my most absolute favourite romance author. She has a way to create love stories that is simply unmatched. All her books live inside my head at all times and they’re all ALWAYS so good!!

Better Hate Than Never follows Christopher and Kate - childhood enemies turned into adults who hold a grudge turned into the best romantic partners ever.

This is a story full of angst, full of romance, full of steamy scenes, full of emotions, and full of heartfelt conversations.

I felt so seen in Kate and her family dynamic and was almost brought to tears multiple times whilst reading this.

Absolutely will shout at everyone that they NEED to read this book!!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this eARC of 'Better Hate than Never' by Chloe Liese.

The second book in the Wilmot Sisters series, 'Better Hate than Never' was arguably better than the first. Slightly rivals to Lovers with quite a bit of spice, Chloe Liese proves why she's such a force to be recognised in the romance community. I sped through this book and slowly fell more and more in love with a man called Christopher. Beautiful.

This BOOK. Honestly I'd read anything Chloe writes (and I HAVE so far hehe). This book is incredible. It follows Kate and Christopher, who we both meet in Two Wrongs Make a Right, and let's just say they have an explosive relationship. They've known each other their whole life but let's just say they've never really had much affinity for one another (or have they...). Anytime they meet is a blast (the explosive type, not the fun one...until...) and they're friends and family just need it to stop since Kate is staying in town a little longer than usual. But once they try to be friendly, blasts indeed 💥😏. Like i said, i had a BLAST reading this (okay fine i'll stop) - I was not expecting the subtrope that happens near the end but it just added even more layer to their relationship (no, its not pregnancy). Just like every Chloe Liese novel, it includes some really great representation. In this case, Kate has ADHD and identifies as demisexual and Christopher suffers from chronic migraines. I also loved the sense of found family that happens in this book (and the previous one) where they have such a strong friendship group that is just there for them and so welcoming of new members, which is something Kate struggles with at the start. Did I say how much I loved this book?

BETTER HATE THAN NEVER is the second book in the Wilmot Sisters series and I think it's also my favourite. It is a childhood enemies to lovers story and is a reimagining of The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare. I already loved TWO WRONGS MAKE A RIGHT and it is here where we first meet Christopher and Katerina, however, I didn't expect to end up loving them more than Jamie and Bea.
I am relatively new to Chloe Liese, but I've made it my mission recently to read everything she has written. I adore her writing style, world-building and character development, and her books never fail to leave me wanting more. This is such a feel-good romance and the characters are so relatable - I defy you not to fall in love with them.

There is just something irresistible about a good enemies to lovers story!

Katerina is back living with her family while she is recovering from a small injury, she hasn't stayed for more than a few days since the day she left home years ago, an extended stay wasn't in her plan but needs must.

One of the worst things about being at home for long is that she has to socialize with her childhood enemy and unfortunately for her, he is also her family's friend Christopher.

Christopher is annoyed that he has to share his time with his friends with Katerina, but he is sure she will be gone in no time, when this doesn't happen he has to face reality among with some other feelings he was never able to understand until now.

After one of their fight get out of control they start to see how difficult is living together while maintaining their hate which slowly changes into something new, something much sweeter.

Oh how I adored the change from hate to love, especially when it comes as a shock to both of them but still makes sense. The romance was absolutely wonderful to read.

Both main characters are facing difficulties that are addressed and dealt in the best possible way for them which was very nice to see.

I had a wonderful time reading this book.

* I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.

4.25⭑

Tropes;
- enemies to lovers
- grumpy x grumpy
- chronic pain rep (migraines)
- ADHD rep
- demisexual rep
- dual POV

This was an incredibly fun book and Chloe Liese once again does a great job at writing a very cute romance with excellent representation with ADHD & migraines representation as well as demisexual representation.

This book follows Kate and Christopher, who were childhood next door neighbours but turned enemies as they both disagree with eachother’s career choices. However they deeply care about each other and so are at each other’s throats any time they are in the same room. The tension between them is always so good and you could tell they were bound to blow up and finally kiss - and what a satisfying kiss it was🤭

I love the found family aspect in this series and I was glad to see it carried on from book one to book two. The relationships between the sisters and the friendships in this series is what makes it so good.

I can’t wait for book three in this series and to revisit these characters again!

Thank you NetGalley and Piatkus for sending me an early copy in exchange for my honest review.
