Thank you NetGalley for making Apotheosis Rising, The story of Jonathan Kriz by Nik I. Gerasimou, an independently published book available for me to read and review.

This is a hit or miss book. Unfortunately, it was a miss for me. The synopsis intrigued me enough that in any potential situation I would pick this up to read.

What didn't work: I didn't like Jonathan. When I think of assassin, I think confident and smart. There are predicament scenes, and Jonathan believes these are the times to request CVs/resumes. Have you done this before, he asks the driver during a car chase. Really? Seriously? I couldn't stop wondering if I was being pranked.

What worked: The creative process of Gerasimou, the synopsis holds a good story. I liked how quickly time jumped early on. It was a smooth transition.

If I were the instructor marking this, I would suggest maturing Jonathan. I saw him from the mind of a creative writing high schooler, not as a well trained, smart and clever assassin. I will pick up/try another by the author.

Kudos to Nik I. Gerasimou for writing a story without F---. I noticed. For that reason I would gift this in a basket with some wine, cheese and cigar?

Get ready for an electrifying ride in this story as Jonathan, a former assassin, embarks on a thrilling quest to uncover the truth about his forgotten past. The discovery of the Globus Cruciger, an ancient artifact, sets the stage for a rollercoaster of suspense and action. Joined by the enigmatic Eleanor, Jonathan faces relentless pursuers and delves into treacherous tunnels, all while battling his own inner demons. This captivating tale blurs the lines between good and evil, leaving readers questioning the power of their own choices. It kept me guessing until the very end.
