I'm a massive Camilla Isley fan, and it has been far too long since she last released a new book, so I couldn't wait to get my hands on Not In A Billion Years.
And was totally worth the wait, completely up to her normal standards, and utterly entertaining.
The dynamics and banter between Blake And Gabriel are wonderful. They are both alphas, top of their fields, and yet their meet cute was hilarious.
And from then on, it seemed as those Blake was constantly determined to on up Gabriel at every opportunity, with all manner of fabulous results - Gabriel's first gym class as Blake's gym comes to mind instantly.
I loved their dynamic from the first few pages and just had to wonder when the inevitable would happen. It was such a joy when it did and I loved the journey to get there, as well as from that point.
It's full of humour, some wonderful family members and personal assistants, and so much more besides. It's a joy to read and I just hope I won't have to wait as long before the next new book from this author.
Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
Not in a Billion Years is another great book by Camilla Isley. You will fall in love with Gabriel along with Blake, he is a wonderful book boyfriend! It has been a while since I have read a book where the hero really doesn't waiver as he is falling for the heroine. That doesn't mean Gabriel doesn't have some missteps on his way to a HEA, but they are done with good intentions. And Blake deserves someone like Gabriel, who is true to her and has her back (even if he messes up the way he does it.) This book is excellent and I cannot wait for the next in series. Thank you NetGalley and Camilla Isley for an advanced copy for this very honest review!
This book was so much fun, I loved that both of the MC had money, we usually read books where only one of them is rich. I also loved that the FMC was very strong and independent, it was inspiring.
The banter between both of them had me laughing for real! This was an enemies to lovers but it seems like Gabriel stopped considering Blake as an enemy pretty early on, so I loved how he just went for it and showed his loving teddy bear side to get her. Gabriel is a sweetheart, after his first encounter with Blake, I fell in love with his character right away, he’s sooooo dreamy! All the things he would say to her and the things he did fore her ❤️ The ending was super cute! But I have to say the sibling banter with Thomas was definitely my favorite!
All the supporting characters in this story were wonderful and interesting! I would love to read a story on each of the characters, so when I read the author’s note about a Marissa book AND a Thomas book I got super excited, can’t wait to read those!
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for allowing me to read this advance copy!
This is a great enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy! I liked it very much.. Funny, sassy, and easy to like.. Fun characters!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and had to stop myself from reading it all in one sitting.
The rivals to lovers trope is always god tier. I will forever love it, and Blake and Gabriel gave it to me in spades. I loved their back and forth banter so much, and I had a smile on my face through the majority of this book.
There were a couple of things that I did side eye. Mainly, the epilgoue because the situation seems very abrupt. Especially when they had just talked about what they wanted in the future, and what happens in the epilogue didn't seem like it was really on the table in the present.
I also have mixed feelings about Gabriel chasing after Blake for the entirety of the book. Once the third act break up happened, I was kind of like ...okay, maybe we shouldn't totally paint Gabriel as the bad guy here?? This is a little annoying.
Regardless, I loved the story. I will always love a man that loves cats. So, Gabriel is a huge win for me. I will definitely be reading more of Isley's books in the future.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this eARC of 'Not In a Billion Years' by Camilla Isley.
This was such a fun and capturing read!! 'Not in a Billion Years' had amazing characters with an intriguing plot and the romance??? Perfection. Get me a man who gets his employees to craft me a whole closet in his house. Beautiful.

Not in a Billion Years by @camillaisley
Blake Avery has taken the fitness industry by social media by storm. There’s nothing in her way except Gabriel Mercer and his gym real estate empire.
But Gabriel finds out quickly that Blake is smart, feisty, capable and determined.
Who doesn’t love it when the man falls first????
This is a fantastic example of enemies to lovers with wonderful supporting characters that make me want a book about Thomas (Gabriel’s brother) or Mila (Gabriel’s assistant) finding love!
This book release date is set for September 6, 2023 and I highly recommend you snag it!
Thank you to @camillaisley , @bookandttonic and @netgalley for sharing this ARC with me in exchange for my honest review!
This was a fun and easy read. I really liked Blake but had a harder time liking Gabriel. He came off a bit more arrogant than I would have liked. But they were both strong leads and I really enjoyed the enemies to lovers aspect. There were also a lot of funny moments that had me laughing out loud. A negative would be - there was too much finance talks, which came off slightly boring (I’m sorry) and I had to skim a good chunk of it. I really liked Thomas and hopefully we get more from him. Overall a quick and fun summer read. There were mostly enjoyable parts minus a more likable ML and less finance lingo.
Thank you NetGallery for this ARC.
We are back with one of my favourite authors
This time we are following a fitness duo who are from different ends of the society spectrum. We have Blake who's worked up her business from a garage and Gabriel Mercer who's got money.
The start of this book i was like am going to love this and I was 100 💯 % correct I've adore it. Blake and Gabriel banter is edgy with that right amount of spark between them. Blake is the best and she's got that attitude and authortivness to the test . I loved this fall in love quick romance book it'd the feel good feeling I needed Gabriel brother Thomas is so funny I found myself giggle at his natter with his brother and Blake.
This was such a fun and emotional read <3
💫 Two billionares (but one's totally self made and the other's not totally self made and that leads to so much snark and banter and the funniest meet cute 😭)
💫 Forced proximity ish?
💫 A lot of meddling by family and friends, it's so funny
TWs - professional sabotage, toxic former relationship
-- ty to the author, the publisher and Netgalley for an advanced copy!
I loved this book. Definitely my favorite Camilla Isley book. I enjoy the enemies to lovers trope with all the sexy banter between Blake and Gabriel.
Both Blake and Gabriel are strong personalities with immediate chemistry. His aggressive persuit of her appealed to me. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun romantic comedy.
Thank you to NetGalley, Camilla Isley and Boldwood books for the advanced copy of this entertaining read.
I love a good enemies to love story and this book gave me just that. The characters were good and the banter between the two made the story so much better. This was definitely a fun read.
An amazing enemies to lovers with fun, banter, romantic gesture, second chances between two real people, with struggles, flaws, who make mistakes and ask for forgiveness. Blake and Gabriel are a wonderful couple. And the side characters, Thomas, Mila, Marissa are a real treasure.
A fun enemies to lovers read. Set in the US and all the more fun for it.
This is the first book I've read by this author, I will definitely look out for more in the future.
Special thanks to NetGally and Camilla Isley for an advanced copy of this book! Not In A Billion Years is the story of Blake Avery a self made business women who started her fitness business as a teenager making as a making videos in her bedroom. Blake has a growing fitness business and has just opened up a cutting edge new gym in Manhattan. Gabriel Mercer is a billionaire who had his fitness empire handed down to him from his father...or did he? When Blake makes a public comment about Gabriel Mercer not being "self-made" it sparks a feud between the two. This book had some real laugh out loud moments, but overall this wasn't my favorite book by Camilla. The two characters were great and I really enjoyed their banter, but at the end of the day I'm just not a fan of two people falling for each other so quickly. I also thought one of the twists in the book was just a bit over the top for my taste. I give this book 3.5 stars and I look forward to reading the next book in this series that features Blake's best friend, Marissa.
5/5 stars because I truly couldn't put this book down and I LOL throughout most of the book. I loved the refreshing rich guy attitude and overall was a great easy read. Would definitely recommend it for people out there who are tired of the asshole rich guy trope that is changed by a good woman and want a strong female lead that dishes it out equally.
The premise: Blake is a self-made billionaire in all the sense of the word, but she's new to that level of success and money and still doesn't act accordingly 100% of the times. When interviewed for her recent fitness studio opening, she let her mouth run loose talking about her competition Gabriel Mercer and sets in motion a series of events that will change her life forever. While Gabriel isn't prepared for what he thought Blake was upon their first meeting, he also goes through life-changing situations. It's a classic will-they-won't-they rom-com but with a couple of twists.
- I really like the premise of the book initially.
- At 14% I’m liking how Blake & Gabriel’s characters are being set up & the tension & back and forth blows and jabs they’re giving each other. Living for it is more accurate. I’m probably going to finish the book in one sitting.
- 31% in I’m LOL at every chapter, this book is funny, and the puns and sarcasm-heavy conversations are music to my ears. Really liking the book’s vibes & descriptive language.
- The brother’s banter really is 10/10, I find myself giggling and LOL constantly while reading the book.
- I appreciate that the author made Gabriel a nice billionaire without a complex for a change, the fifty shades of grey troubled rich guy trope needed a break and this one is delivering in all the places. Swooning over this character.
- Thomas is one of my favorite characters and his dynamic with Gabriel is unparalleled, gives it a lot of satire.
- Mila, the assistant is also 10/10, she's exactly what I would expect someone working for Gabriel to be like.
- Overall liking the strong powerful women characters throughout the book, and the men that surround them.
- The ending was very sweet and somewhat unexpected but also looking back, I can see it foreshadowed at some point.

Absolutely loved this! This is definitely one of my favorite enemies-to-lovers stories that I've read all year.
Blake was such a breath of fresh air. Smart as a whip and fiercely independent, she is the epitome of a strong woman. And then there's Gabriel. Smart, headstrong, and a natural born protector. Put them together, and it's one explosive combination.
The progression of their relationship was so natural and seamless. I love that as soon as Gabriel realized that he was attracted to her, he was open about his pursuit of her, and still so respectful of Blake's hesitation.
My favorite part of this story was the banter. It was absolutely top notch! The push and pull between the two of them was so well-written, it had me smiling throughout the book.
The cherry on top was Thomas. I cackled at some of his lines. They were so perfectly timed and designed to get a reaction out of Gabriel, which worked almost every time.
I also loved how smart the entire story was. These two characters had real problems, and real conflicts, e.g. the IPO incident. It was so well-written that even someone who had no prior understanding of how an IPO works could gather the gist of why it brought a conflict between them.
I'll definitely be re-reading this one!
NOTE: ARC received in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
General plot (no spoilers): Blake Avery is truly a self-made business woman who has spent over a decade turning her fitness videos into a career, but, when she - publicly - accuses rival Gabriel Mercer of taking advantage of his privilege in order to succeed, she soon meets her match.
Thoughts: always great to see a strong woman whose focus and determination are the driving factors behind her success. She doesn’t immediately turn into putty and generally stands her ground when confronted with Mercer. Mercer is also an interesting character with a set of well-written familial relations. I enjoyed the banter between Blake and Gabriel, and Gabriel and Thomas too. I’m looking forward to reading more in the series as they come out and revisiting the characters.
I absolutely loved reading this meet cute romance. I was completely drawn into the topic and could not stop reading it.
I’ve enjoyed this author’s other books and this was no different. The banter was great. That meet cute! 😂
