"Antigona and Me" by Kate Clanchy is a moving and thought-provoking memoir that explores the author's relationship with a teenage refugee, Antigona. This intimate narrative delves into the complexities of immigration, identity, and belonging, offering a poignant perspective on the challenges faced by newcomers to the UK. Clanchy's empathetic storytelling and profound insights make this book a compelling exploration of friendship, compassion, and the power of language to bridge divides.

I didn't really begin to enjoy this book until about half-way through. Generally I found it repetitive and chronologically challenging. As important as this story was to tell, I think it would have made a great long read article or maybe a series of columns, but not a book.
