Interesting story with lovely artwork. I wasn’t too sure I liked it but it was still interesting to read.

Thanks Netgalley and publisher for automatically allowing me to read this graphic novel.

The art is pretty nice as well as colourful but i just feel the characters interaction and the whole storyline just felt all over the place for me to keep continuing…..

The Rainbow Catcher is beautifully illustrated and uses creative monochromatic colour palettes to divide the story into chapters. Unfortunately, I found the story too disjointed to easily follow. There was a lot going on and the story could have benefitted from a couple exclusions.

I am unsure of the target demographic of this book. Some of the story seemed written for older elementary school children, while there were also instances that seemed exclusively for older high school students. This book does mention r*pe and refers to the main female character as "the hussy" several times.

I would be interested to see the visual elements of this book in conjunction with a more consistent and simplified narrative.

Amazing art and the story was pretty good too. My biggest problem was at some points the color of the boxes the text shows up in was a little too loud and hard for me to read but this is great.

The Rainbow Catcher is a fantastical story of wonder, whimsy, and science. Our protagonist Hayden meets, for himself, the legend that is Sir Isaac Newton. Adventures abound as Hayden takes a voyage across the English Channel to France and studies the origins of rainbows. It's a beautiful modern day fairy tale and is right up the alley of anyone who enjoys magical realism.

I need to wax poetic about how much I loved the art in this book. I love that it shows like I'm looking at drawings created with colored pencil, which only makes the book stand out more to me. You can tell that the vibrancy of the colors and shading throughout were thoughtfully conceived. The pastel colors are bright and warm and as the story follows the colors of the rainbow, it is wonderful to see that theme reflected in the choice of hues used. Like a rainbow, they flow so prettily from page to page.

A beautifully drawn graphic novel. I really liked that the chapter headings were the colours of the rainbow – and the drawings in each chapter had a particular colour theme. It was very nicely done. (Eye candy!)

This story features a curious young boy, Isaac Newton, bits and pieces of science and some magical realism. The plot is not anything special or complicated, yet quite sweet. I think younger readers will enjoy it. For me, it was a light, easy, fluffy, and very quick read. Not bad for a Saturday morning with a cup of tea :)

I think this was a great idea for a graphic novel and I enjoyed the plot overall. The aspect of the novel that I was most interested in however, was the artwork. The illustrations are absolutely stunning and really add to the magical experience of reading the novel. I loved how each “chapter” was based on each colour from the rainbow, and how the artwork also related to that colour (I.e, the “violet” chapter had violet themed illustrations etc), I thought this was a unique, beautiful and fun idea. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with the opportunity to read this book.

A lovely graphic novel about rainbows, science, magic, and finding your way in the world, all wrapped up in a delightfully unique artstyle that captures the essence of the rainbows themselves in radiant fashion. The characters and story all felt very well-rounded and nothing felt hurried or flat, even though the book itself is quite short! Would recommend to anyone who loves the cheer, charm, and color that rainbows bring to our lives.

Who doesn’t like a rainbow? This is a comic that includes a little bit of scientific and historical reality, a little bit of magic, fairytales, rainbows, travel and love. Bringing them all together with an imaginative narrative. How much of it is actually true? Read and decide for yourself.? But I repeat, who doesn’t like a rainbow? This was good! I really enjoyed how the color scheme of the artwork changed as the colors of the rainbow were introduced. Certain parts of the story felt a little disjointed but overall I liked the story.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an arc of this book.

The Rainbow Catcher is a creatively illustrated graphic novel that tells the story of Hayden, a young man who falls in love with the science of rainbows after a chance meeting with Isaac Newton. As his story progresses, we see how Hayden's love for science leads him to discoveries about light and rainbows, and how this ultimately helps him in his journey.

This story has a unique way of being illustrated. Since the story is about rainbows, each chapter uses a color palette that features a different color of the rainbow. It was so cool! I personally wasn't very interested in the story, but I think that a lot of readers would be! If you like science or magical realism, this story combined the 2. I think a great age range for this would be teens+. Trigger warning:There is mention of assault

Thank you to netgalley for providing a copy of this graphic novel in exchange for an honest review.

Hayden is a curious boy trying to discover what truly lies at the end of a rainbow when he meets Isaac Newton one fateful day. Under the tutelage of the great scientist, he learns about light, refraction, and other scientific discoveries, but when he's suddenly whisked away and forced to become a spy, Hayden must put his new scientific knowledge to the test.

I really enjoyed the way this graphic novel was split into sections for each color of the rainbow! It was really interesting and inventive to see the colors shift in each section to reflect this.

Unfortunately, I really didn't like this graphic novel. It didn't make much sense to me and didn't feel like it had much of a take-away at the end of the day. I found myself bored with the build-up, then utterly baffled at the way the plot took a turn. I feel like it had far too many strange twists and not a lot of clear plot or reason behind the characters' actions. I also really hated that the main female character was reduced to being "saved" by Hayden.
