As a massive Nightmare Before Christmas fan i obviously loved this one! Well written, i think even if you're not particularly interested in the film i think you'd still enjoy this one, its feels a little bit more grown up than the film. Perfect Hallowe'en read.

Did I request this book purely for my love for the nightmare before Christmas? Yes, I did. Fun fact we are both 30 years old this year. Just one little thing this book CLEARLY states it’s a novelisation of the film. It’s not stating anywhere it is a retelling or a whole new story, I don’t know how some people have got their wires crossed but yes, this book is the film in text. If it’s a sequel you’re after there is Long Live the Pumpkin Queen by Shea Ernshaw.

This novelisation is a lovely reminder of the spookiness of the film and the character I grew up loving. This book is harder to review than I thought as I am way to bias, I think Megan did a wonderful job translating the book from screen to page and has done the story justice. I enjoyed the slight change in dialogue where the original songs take place. This book is perfect for the upcoming spooky season.

I think this book is for the diehard fans am I going to get a fished copy to add to my Nightmare Before Christmas collection of course I am. I would also recommend reading this book with Vitamin String Quartet performs The Nightmare Before Christmas on in the background.

It's hard to believe that it has been 30 years since The Nightmare Before Christmas was first in cinemas. I feel so old! This novelisation is a lovely reminder of the wonderful spookiness of the story and the kooky characters. Another fantastic way to enjoy the story, without the music of course though many of the songs were playing in my head while I read. Brilliant!

Many Thanks to NetGalley and Bonnier Books UK for providing me with a review copy in exchange for an honest review!

'The Nightmare Before Christmas' is a classic movie first directed by Tim Burton in 1993, and for it's 30th anniversary Megan Shepherd has adapted the screenplay into a novel that both adults and children will enjoy!

The Story
The story follows the exact plot of the movie:
Set in a magical world, where in an enchanted forest, doors are portal to different lands that home the kings of all holidays. In Halloween Town the Pumpkin King, Jack Skellington, is growing tired of everything being Halloween everyday. Journeying into the woods, Jack find a door on a tree labelled with a Christmas Tree and is quickly transported to 'Christmas Town' where he is introduced to the wonders of the holiday that is 'Christmas'.

With new energy, Jack travels back to Halloween Town and announces to the residents that this year Halloween is cancelled and that instead they'll be celebrating Christmas. Now if only Jack could find Sandy Claws and get him to disappear for a bit so Jack can be King of Christmas for one day...

My verdict
'The Nightmare Before Christmas' is one of my favourite stories from when I grew up and Megan Shepherd has done a fantastic job at translating this to the novel format. This book is absolutely ideal for a quick read and also one to read to younger children before bedtime!

I had an absolutely great time reading this adaptation of the book and would recommend it for anyone who is interested in the universe of 'The Nightmare Before Christmas'

Final Words
Once again thanks NetGalley and Bonnier Books UK for providing me with a review copy of this book in exchange for this review.

As a huge NBC fan from the moment the film came out (little 4 year old me was always into thes spooky stuff!), I knew this book was either going to be amazing, or I was going to hate it.

Thankfully, Megan Shepherd did not disappoint. True to the original, with some added insights and changes of dialogue where the original songs were, I really loved this. It's a must for any fan of the iconic movie, and I can't wait to have a copy of it on my shelves!

i did enjoyed reading his, however I did expect something more, maybe a twist on the story or in some way for it to be added to however it is just the story version of the film.

Now essentially if you've seen the movie, you know the story. And from someone who has seen the movie countless times over the last *cough* 30 years (honestly I can't believe it's been that long) I was still excited to devour the story in book format.

There are little changes in dialogue in place of the missing lyrics, and little added insights and thoughts here and there that we weren't privy to in the film

Old fan or new, this is a great spooky season read!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bonner books for the chance to read this ahead of the anniversary release this month!

I highly recommend reading this if you love Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas. I also listen to the songs from the movie when reading, which helped to enchant the reading experience. It's lovely to read about Jack and Sally this way. he novel has all of the subtle spookiness and sense of wonder that the film portrayed, and it is so easy to read that both kids and adults will enjoy it.

What’s this? What’s this? A novelisation of the favourite story of creepy girls and boys across the globe?

This was absolutely delightful. But first I’d like to say that I feel old now that I realise this book is to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the novel, this was such a huge part of my childhood and is still part of my Christmas traditions to this day so I was so excited to read it so my opinion is more than likely a little clouded by the happy nostalgia this gave to me.

The story has all the subtle spookiness and sense of wonder that the movie captured, and is so easily readable that kids and adults alike will find it such a fun read.
