This is a bit messy and confusing but it's funny and you can get away with a lot of chaos if you're funny. The characters each had very distinctive voices and points of view, which I loved. It was just A LOT. It needed a few quiet bits so I could rest!

This novel has it all - an exciting and dangerous adventure, great characters including dark and threatening villains, mythology mixed with technology and a London setting combined with fantastical realms . Yet the author doesn't forget to include the human moments, emotions which tie us to the main character, Peregrine Quinn, who is smart but impulsive.
The multiple points of view is unusual for the age-group but worked really well. I am usually put off by sci-fi but these elements were incorporated really well with the plot and gave it a futuristic feel, which sets it apart from other MG fantasy. We're looking forward to what comes next.

"Peregrine Quinn and the Cosmic Realm" promises readers an exhilarating and imaginative adventure that seamlessly blends elements of fantasy and science fiction. Peregrine, a young girl initially enamored by her godfather Daedalus Bloom's fantastical stories, finds herself thrust into a perilous journey when the portals connecting her realm to the Cosmic Realm suddenly close, and Daedalus is kidnapped. As she navigates this dangerous landscape, Peregrine discovers that the creatures from her godfather's tales are not just figments of imagination but real entities armed with laser blasters, setting the stage for a nail-biting and action-packed quest.

The novel excels in its world-building and character development, offering readers a richly detailed universe filled with mythical beings and technological marvels. Peregrine's transformation from a curious listener to a courageous heroine is compelling, and her journey is enhanced by the dynamic cast of supporting characters, including a dryad librarian and a holographic faun from Olympus. Together, they must race against time to fix the portals and thwart an ancient evil threatening the fate of both realms. The blend of fantasy and science fiction elements adds depth to the narrative, keeping readers engaged from start to finish.

However, while "Peregrine Quinn and the Cosmic Realm" delivers an exciting and imaginative adventure, it may occasionally falter in pacing and plot development. Some scenes feel rushed, and certain aspects of the story could benefit from further exploration and expansion. Additionally, the resolution of conflicts towards the end of the novel may feel somewhat predictable to seasoned readers of the genre. Despite these minor drawbacks, "Peregrine Quinn and the Cosmic Realm" is a solid three-star read that will captivate fans of both fantasy and science fiction, offering an exhilarating escapade into a world where mythical creatures clash with futuristic technology, and the fate of entire realms hangs in the balance.

Peregrine Quinn is twelve years old & living with her God Father Daedalus Bloom in his Plant Healing shop in Oxford, she has always loved the stories he told her about his other life as an Immortal ,but that's all they were just stories , until one day an event changes all that & Peregrine ends up having the adventure of a life time between realms , Ash Bond weaves a fantastic tale that stretches from Oxford to Alexandria with mythology , Fairy Lore all inter-twinned to save the World & most importantly of all Books & Plants sadly the, #NetGalley copy I had been reading expired ( I was ill & couldn't read for several days) so I actually went On Line t, #Amazon.co.uk & bought a physically copy of the Book in order to finish the story. I am now going to pass the book onto my eldest granddaughter & her half siblings to read & then in turn they will pass it on to Cousins or friends from School so hopefully the physical Book will become well read & loved. #GoodReads, #Instagram, #FB, #,#, #.

Peregrine Quinn and the Cosmic Realm is an exhilarating, mesmerising fantasy adventure that completely captivated me as it took me on an unforgettable quest with the most brilliant cast of characters.

Everyone knows that libraries are magical places where adventures unfold, so don’t be surprised when you arrive at the Bodleian Library, Oxford to find its dryad librarian asleep, having eaten too many jellybeans, unaware that a break-in is taking place.

Don’t be alarmed when you discover that the perpetrators are a twelve-year-old Terran girl, Peregrine Quinn, and her godfather, an immortal, Daedalus Bloom.

BUT be very alarmed when, 23 minutes later, portal librarian, Rowan Strong wakes up to discover that all the portals between the Terran Realm and the Cosmic Realm have shut down. And the only person who can fix the portals is the architect who designed them who just so happens to be … Daedalus Bloom. As the only librarian who has not been trapped with their Cosport, Rowan is tasked with finding Daedalus …. shouldn’t be a problem for a highly-skilled portal librarian … except that Rowan is a trainee librarian, and this is her first day on the job …

Rowan is not the only one searching for Daedalus so when she arrives at his plant clinic, danger arrives with her. By the time Peregrine gets home, it is to witness her godfather disappearing before her eyes, and a laser pointing at her. Racing through the streets of Oxford, Peregrine and Rowan are pursued by men in suits with dark glasses who are not at all what they seem …

And so begins the most incredible, action-packed, heart-pounding adventure as Peregrine and Rowan find themselves in a race against time to rescue Daedalus before an ancient power returns, a power intent on causing destruction in both Realms. They are relentlessly chased by a pair of dangerous enemies and face great peril as they travel through water, land and underground on the quest they have found themselves undertaking. Be prepared for unexpected revelations, dastardly deeds, treachery and oodles of danger in this edge-of-your-seat adventure. Oh – and laughs – definitely be prepared for plenty of laughs as the humour throughout is brilliantly scintillating.

I really enjoyed the world-building which took me between our world (Terran Realm) and Mount Olympus (Cosmic Realm). I loved the blend of mythology with modern and futuristic technology, the ancient immortals and their minions kitted out with their own tech which gave this a sci-fi feel. I also really liked the importance of nature within the story – Bernadette, a sentient plant who travels with Peregrine, is just gorgeous as are the Cosbugs given to Peregrine and Rowan by the wonderful, wise Nim, the Q of the immortals. Using ancient libraries as gateways between realms with librarians as guardians of the portals is genius. And then there’s the Under Under Ground …

There are so many wonderful characters in this adventure and it was fantastic to get an insight into them through the use of multiple viewpoints. Rowan is someone who has been brought up to follow rules and is not interested in becoming a hero and going on a quest … but sometimes it is necessary to break rules and become a hero, especially if a friend’s life is in danger. Peregrine is curious, feisty and impetuous and can jump into situations without thinking. I loved that these two develop such a wonderfully loyal and supportive bond of friendship and learn from each other.

A spectacular fantasy adventure, fizzing with humour and fast-paced action, guaranteed to sweep readers into an enchantment of reading delight.

This is a lively YA tale full of funny characters and adventures!
Peregrine lives under the care of her godfather Daedalus as her mother travels for work. He is an immortal, and has lots of stories to tell about The Realms, and the magical characters living within them.
One day at school a faun man appears in the playground. Peregrine can see it through the window, as can all the other children. She goes outside as it’s obvious they are waiting for her!. Cal is a hologram from csi headquarters and tells Peregrine that all the Realms have stopped working and trapped all the guardian librarians inside. Except for one. Her name is Rowan the nymph, and she’s gone to get Daedalus’s help. They then witness Daedalus being kidnapped by two Bogbrethren and they are about to shoot Rowan. Peregrine runs away with Roman and Cal, as the bogbrethren give chase.
So the adventure carries on… They must rescue Daedalus, and get the Realms working again.
Many thanks to Bonnier Books for the opportunity to read this arc copy for review consideration via Netgalley. My opinion is my own.

This is a lovely book, certainly lives up to the description of being adventurous!

We meet young Peregrine, absolutely desperate to be allowed into the cosmic realms, but always held back as by her godfather, and having to listen to his tale’s instead…until he’s kidnapped…then it all gets a bit wild - fauns, thunderbolts, underground metros, bots, and of course…the portal.

Brilliant fun! I can’t wait to see what trouble awaits in future.

My thanks to Netgalley and Bonnier Books UK for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Peregrine Quinn has just filled the Percy Jackson shaped hole in our lives and has fans in this house of all ages. Ash Bond is such a great winter and new talent to watch out for. Hope this is a long series and the author can write quickly !

This book was brilliant! It has the mythology chops to stand up to the likes of Percy Jackson, and police procedural that reminded me of all of my favourite parts of the Artemis Fowl books. Peregrine Quinn is thrown in at the deep end, and must find a way to save a realm that, up until a day earlier, she didn't even know existed! What has her godfather got mixed up in, and what does a pot plant have to do with it all?

I loved the characters in this story, and how it was told from multiple perspectives. It took me far too long to realize that Hazel and Rowans names were because they are dryads! Cal was so loveable, and so wonderfully nervous and lacking in confidence, and Daedalus was just as mysterious as you would expect.

I can't wait to see more of this series, and discover just how much Peregrine hasn't been told that likely would have been good for her to know!

This is a very confident debut novel. There’s plenty of fast-paced adventure, characters such as fauns, centaurs and even a sentient plant, also Greek mythology and botanical references. Mixed in with all of this is a strong sci-fi atmosphere with portals and technology - anyone who loves the Artemis Fowl books is going to love this.

I have to mention the lovely illustrated maps at the front and back as well.

This is such a fun read and I can see kids going feral for it. Peregrine is a wonderfully realised character and along with the rest of the cast, it makes for a very engaging read, adding something fresh and new to a very busy part of the market. Can't wait for more from Ash!

Peregrine Quinn and her godfather Daedalus are on a secretive mission in the world famous Bodleian Library when things start to go very wrong and the portals (one of which they are trying to hack into) shut down, taking all of their guards with them. Peregrine had long listened to Daedalus telling tales of the Cosmic Realm but until this moment, she never imagined they were real. Her reality is tipped on its head as Daedalus is kidnapped and Peregrine must race against both time and three of Zeus’s thunderbolts to save him and the Realms. She must depend on her new friends, Rowan, Cal and Nim (who runs Hero Support Services, like a Cosmic version of ‘Q’ from Bond, with a duck!) plus a mystical plant called Bernadette but most of all, she has to depend on herself.
With an Under Under Ground, Glam Passes, CosPad Pros, Grumbugs and more tech than an Apple store could wish for, the magical world building of this amazing debut novel is set against the backdrop of Oxford, libraries and Mount Olympus and mixes action packed adventure with wit and humour (did you know that Zeus has retired and much like Alex from Blur, now runs a goat farm and makes cheese?!). It is the perfect combination of mythology and futuristic fantasy with vibes of Artemis Fowl combined with Percy Jackson but with a feisty, female lead and a host of strong supporting characters. When you add in a traitor, two scary henchmen and a Goddess of Chaos, the result is totally unputdownable.
