This is a wild ride! You better buckle up and get ready to finish this in one sitting. I was gripping this book so tightly to try to get to the end. I had 0 guesses as to how this was going to go and I am so happy with this read. If you enjoy thrillers you need to buy this ASAP.

I like the idea and the concept of the book. However, the execution and the characters for me need more polishing in a way that they will be more likable and realistic in a way that can make us relate to it. Something's missing that I can't exactly pinpoint but I feel kind of disconnected from the book. In my opinion, there should be something that could bridge that gap so as to help the readers immerse themselves in a world of crime and juvenile delinquency that this deserves.

This is a fast paced thriller full of twists. After a few twists, they become a bit predictable and a little far fetched in this "trust no one" plot. Hard to put down even when you sometimes see where the story is going. 3.5 stars rounded down.

Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review

I really enjoyed this book, the cover is what made me pick it, it’s bold, makes you question what the book is about and the story didn’t disappoint

Wow what a rollercoaster! I could not put this one down and finished it in a day. Who can you trust when everyone seems to be corrupted? Can Beth find her son and fix what he’s gotten himself into? I loved Elena Wilkes’ writing style and ability to capture your attention from the first chapter! Make sure to check trigger warnings for this book.

This is a book that come at you from many different angles. You think it's all about the son (thanks to the title and description) and then BAM! You now have no idea which way is up or down! Love the twists and turns that Beth is faced with and not knowing who or what information to trust. There is her husband, her son, her best friend, an inmate, a corrections officer, and a woman. Who is that woman? What is she trying to tell Beth!?? This is a must read if you love trying to piece all the things together and want to figure it out before the book tells you!

This one had so much potential. The twist in the middle would be very unique yet I feel that it didn't match my expectations. It went slow at the start. Beth's character did a lot of things which seems totally unrelatable. Her son was in trouble so she gets him an international vacation to get away? With a friend who randomly agrees to go? I understand gullible characters, but Beth was beyond that.
I did like the ending so in the end I thought it wasn't too bad. But the premise, twist and end makes me think this could get so much better.

As a mother, I could relate to Beth’s need to protect her only son but was annoyed by her overreaction to everything. I love having someone to root for but ultimately, I wasn't a fan of any of the characters.

The story is a slow start but the pace does pick up about midway through with some twists and turns but I found the ending predictable.

Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for allowing me to read this ARC in return for my voluntary and honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
An ok thriller about gaslighting. Not very likable characters but the book itself wasn’t bad. Not my favorite domestic thriller but still ok.

This story started with an interesting premise, a wife and mother; is she being mislead by her husband, or son, or both, or is it all in her head…? However, the plot was lacklustre in that I was able to guess “whodunnit” fairly early on in the story, and towards the end, the “twists” in the plot ended up confusing the storyline for me, I didn’t know who was telling the truth and I lost interest in believing the things the characters were saying because it was all a bit much. It was a good effort, but it didn’t quite hit the mark for me.

Thank you Netgalley and Storm Publishing for this ARC.

This was a fast paced quick read. It had wild twists and turns so unexpected it left you reeling. I enjoyed the characters and the uniqueness of this plot. It was suspenseful and creepy. The story untangling was so well written and flowed wonderfully. It was a great read

Once again, I despise having to review a book that I didn't care for. I was never completely sucked into this one and found it hard to stay on track. The protagonist as well as other supporting characters were so beyond naive that this was bordering on eye roll status to me. The dialogue was on and off not how real conversation is, or at least none that I have heard. The characters were not exactly believable enough. I was just overall not a fan of the writing. Had this been written by a more seasoned, well known author, I would have enjoyed this, maybe even loved it because the story itself was amazing. Overall, I will give this Three Stars for the story itself.

Thank you Netgalley and Storm Publishing for this ARC.

In my opinion, this particular thriller had the potential to be a really fresh and modern take on the genre, but unfortunately, it didn't quite meet my expectations. While I did appreciate the effort put into the plot, I found it to be a bit too slow for my liking. However, I will say that it did improve in the second half, which made it worth sticking with until the end.

Despite the slow pace, I did find some parts of the plot to be a bit implausible. That being said, I understand that it is a work of fiction, so I wasn't too bothered by it. When it came to the characters, I found them to be somewhat lacking. As a mother to a teenage son myself, I found it difficult to connect with the main character, Beth, and didn't feel much empathy for her.

Overall, I wouldn't say that this book was a terrible read, but it didn't quite live up to my expectations. I do think that readers who approach it with an open mind may find it enjoyable and entertaining, but for me personally, it wasn't quite the page-turner I was hoping for.

This book had me gripped from the first chapter. Fast paced, full of suspense and some killer twists and turns.

So many characters with their own different parts in the storyline, but the author manages to keep things easy to follow and interesting.
Definitely never seen most of twists coming and all in all will definitely recommend this book to others.

I found the plot to be very well executed and the pace great. Where I struggled, was Beth. While I completely understand there needed to be some naivety in her character, it seemed impossible to me that this woman could be so naive and yet manage to have brought up a child.

This was a good edge of your sit thriller with a low lingering level of fear through it.
Beth, the protagonist, comes across as a bit naive the whole way through but you do find yourself rooting for her.

The story gets a bit complicated toward the middle with all the characters and how they are interconnected. I did figure out the twist well before the end but I did enjoy the read & will be keeping an eye out for future books by the author.

3.5 stars rounded up.

This book is a psychological thriller based around Beth’s son, this book shows just how far parents are willing to go for their children! Very twisty read with a good concept. I found the start of this book a little slow and the whole story was a bit brutal with some unbelievable events. Overall I do think this is a good thriller book and would like to read another of Elena Wilkes

Mostly well written although at times felt disjointed and felt I was playing catch up at certain points…..a disturbing subject but sadly a reality for some,a new author to me and I would definitely read more from them
