A cute book to read to kids. Has counting, and rhyming in it. Great illustrations. I recommend it for preschoolers to kindergartners.

This is a fun bio for a primary classroom. It could be used to teach rhyming, counting, or even to talk about friendship.

This is a lovely children's book about Dilly Duck gradually finding her duck friends and playing together. Finding her friends one by one, each double page starts wth the current number of ducks in the group so you can count up from 1 with just Dilly to a group of 10 duck friends. The illustrations also make sure that all the ducks are visible on that page so you can count them up with your kid each time to help them learn to count to 10. The illustrations are lovey and bright, and not too crowded or intricate. I also love the mix of full page illustrations and little cut-pout spotlight ones like ovals in the centre of the page with the new duck swimming over to join them or something. With some extra ducky facts in the back I thought this was a great little book to read with little kids.

Thanks NetGalley for the preview!

This book was silly and fun! My daughter loved the ducks. I am always happy to see a counting book done in a fun way. Such a good read!

A very warm-hearted and pretty look at a duck that starts the story all sad and alone, but with the help of friends around her on the park pond manages to get a crew together, relocate the happiness she had access to all along, and provide us with a nicely rhymed counting revision. When you think how clumsy the verse could have been, how awkward the plot might have been and how daftly twee this is in another world, you'll also be grateful for this. It won't be called for every night, but it is perfectly pleasant, and both author and artist show their skills very well – the latter especially for the variety in the ducks' plumage.

Dilly Duck Plays All Day
Holly DiBella-McCarthy

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Some of my favourite books to read as a child.....and to read to my own children are the brilliant counting books like this one.

We meet Dilly and her friends in the lake at Wonder Wake. Dilly is alone and bored, but one by one, her friends join her to enjoy the day together.

I love the things that Dilly and her friends get up to and love the rhyming text. I always enjoy reading out loud when the text rhymes as it's easy to make it sound exciting for the listener.

This book helps youngsters count up to 10 but can also help to count back to 0 again. There are also some prompts at the back of the book to suggest ideas of other things to talk about with your little ones - friendships, rhyming words, reading and of course duck facts.

I adore the bright and bold illustrations.
Dilly and all the ducks are really cute and I loved the different facial expressions too.
The colours are super vibrant and the images are quite simple, so it's easy to pick out the ducks and clearly see which new one has been added. There are also a few other simple things to pick out in each picture too like the goldfish that could be counted also.

This was a really nice one to read and I think it would be a great addition to any bookshelf at home or in school reading corners.

💕Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for my ARC copy - this is my honest review 💕

Dilly Duck Plays All Day is a lovely children's book, with colourful illustrations that captivates the imaginations of little ones.
The story of the sad, lonely Dilly finding friends along his journey teaches the valuable lesson of friendship. It also encourages counting to ten, as each new friend joins the group.
The rhyming words allow the story to flow beautifully and creates a fun tone throughout the book.
The questions at the end of the book finish it off brilliantly and allow lots of discussions to take place, such as friendships, ducks, living in different habitats, counting and so on.
I would say the target age group for this book is 2-4 year olds.

I thought this was a cute book. It reminded me of older style writing and pictures of classic children's books.

This rhyming is super cute and has so many different lessons within the story!

The book is full of different feelings and adjectives to describe the ducks- children can identify and make facial expressions throughout the book to portray each one!

The lonely duck finds new friends throughout and children can count each friend from 1-10!

Oh! And the illustrations are adorable!

Great children’s book for story time at school or bedtime at home!

Dilly was lonely and bored, so she went looking for her friends.
She searched all over until they were all found. What an adventure Dilly and her friends had. It was a lovely book, beautifully colored with quirky and fun characters. It also teaches your kids to count.

I read this with my 5 year daughter Dylan aka Dilly!! She love it! She giggled at the part when it was thundering. At the end she said “I have lots of friends I can call too” so the message got through. Adorable, simple book ideal for ages 2-4 (but still obviously enjoyed by 5 year olds, it is just a little below 5 year old level.) great for learning to count. She gives it 2 thumbs up!

Thank you for the opportunity to review Dilly Duck Plays All Day. I read this book out loud to my daughter. I loved that all ten ducks were different colors making them all unique. My daughter loves books with counting and rhyme so this is one she will definitely want to read again. The story flows nicely weaving together counting and a story about teamwork. This allows for good questions that can be asked about more than just the numbers and counting. As a mom, I especially like the questions for readers/listeners in the back as well as the facts about ducks! This makes this story a learning opportunity in a variety of ways.

I have a big soft spot for ducks, so I had to get my hands on a copy of this book. I loved it! I can't wait to own a copy myself and get a copy for my library. Everyone always takes the animal books whenever on display and these illustrations will bring the reader in while the story makes the reader reread it over and over again.

Dilly Duck Plays All Day is an enjoyable picture book by Holly DiBella-McCarthy. The book is a rhymed story of Dilly Duck's adventurous day playing with friends. Dilly Duck is sad and bored all alone, so she quacks for a friend who comes to play with her. Now there are two ducks. As the story progresses, more ducks join in, one by one, until there are ten ducks. Children will learn how to count in an entertaining way by listening to the book. Pradyut Chatterjee's illustrations are fascinating. Each of the ten ducks in the story is distinguishable by their colors and markings. There is a very recognizable Mallard duck, and the others can also be related to actual ducks, I believe. The colorful ducks make the story more delightful. Dilly Duck Plays All Day is a cute and educational picture book. The author has written other books about Dilly Duck and has a free resource guide with fun activities for children on her website.
Thank you to NetGalley and BiblioKid Publishing for the ARC of this book.

It's an okay story with sort of an old school style of illustrations. The story has counting and rhyming involved, but just lacks an engaging element. I did, however, enjoy that there were discussion questions in the back of the book.
