Another fabulous festive book from Sarah. Loved the idea of the inn in Vermont as a winter holiday destination. Great characters (who need to make some changes), family secrets, a family dog and an inquisitive five year old plus a book club having a week away. Loved escaping into this story.
Another amazingly beautiful Sarah Morgan book. A feel good Christmas story, filled with such good plot lines around 4 different women and how they come together. I loved that it was based around a book club also and the setting was just magickal. I devoured it in just over 24 hours, could not put it down!
Thank you to the author, publisher and netgalley for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
What a lovely feel good book this was. Great characters you got into from the off matched with a storyline that was very enjoyable to read.
The Christmas Book Club is the prefect warm cozy read for the festive season. It’s a tale of friendship and family, of love and new beginnings. It’s set in a picturesque inn in Vermont where the language is so descriptive you can almost feel the flurries of snow against your cheek and taste the delicious sounding food. It’s a warm-hearted, feel good read that did bit disappoint. Thank you to NetGalley, HQ age the author for the chance to review.
so Sarah Morgan! . you have done it again.
A combination of Christmas and love of books in the book club, excellent characters that pull you into the story and I believe you will love this latest novel.
Well done Sarah, this story has given me all the Christmas feels, Anna, Erica, Claudia and Hattie are characters so well written that their stories flow from the page in a never ending display of love and friendship and I hope we get to visit with them again
With 'Christmas' and 'Book Club' in the title, this book sounded right up my street!
Three friends, Erica, Anna and Claudia, book into a beautuful, festive Vermont Hotel for a week of books and relaxation. Three very different individuals, the first third of the book introduces us to them and builds towards the main storylines.
The hotel is owned by Hattie, a young widow who appears to have some connection to Erica.
This is a very enjoyable fireside read with a great story.
Erica, Claudia, and Anna always go away for a book club week. This year they're having to go at Christmas. They got to the Maple Sugar Inn and meet Hattie the owner of the inn who's still grieving after the tragic death of her husband Brent. All of the things they've kept from each other all start to come out.
As I have said many times...I do love a Sarah Morgan book - especially a Christmas one! The Christmas Book Club is a story about 3 friends, each very different to the others in personality, attitude and how they live their lives. Brought together by a love of books, their friendship remains strong even though they aren’t in close proximity except for when they meet up once a year for Book Club week.
It’s easy to recognise something of myself in bits of each of the 3 characters and it became very personal. I loved the stories of each of them and the additional woman who enters their lives and how the characters develop through struggle, pain, loss, love and hope.
What a wonderful Christmas story - thank you Sarah!
Thanks to Netgalley for this early copy of the book for this review.
The Christmas book club is a fun and festive read by sarah. It is always great to get lost in the pages of Sarah's books and this one is no exception. Fun, fabulous and christmassy.
I enjoy Sarah Morgan books. They fill you with joy. This story is about friendship and looking at your life at 40. The turning point for so many. This story covers all areas. Some were flagged early on and it was easy to see where the plot was going, others a bit more of a curved ball and were a surprise. I did not enjoy this as others I have read by this author but definitely a book to curl up with by a fire when the season gets colder.
Thank you to NetGalley and HQ for the advance copy of this book.
Sarah Morgan has provided us with another seasonal crowd pleaser with "The Christmas Book Club". The main characters are 4 women; three college friends aged about 40 who meet up every year for a week, ostensibly to discuss a book, and the 28 year old widow who owns the inn in Vermont where they stay. This book could easily be made in to a film as there is also the wonderfully precocious daughter of Hattie (innkeeper) to include in the mix. Add to this the fact that this is set in December, with plenty of snow and preparations for Christmas, and it would be difficult to go wrong.
As usual with Sarah Morgan's books there is plenty of drama and emotions, some romance and great characters. Definitely one to add to the Christmas stocking of your favourite bookworms.
Thanks to Net Galley and the publishers for the opportunity to review this book.
I like how Sarah's books are set around Christmas time but are not all about Christmas.
The Christmas Book Club (The Book Club Hotel in the US) is such a feel good book!! With characters my age I felt more connected to them even if we didn't share the same experiences.
The way these women supported each other was so nice to see. All with different lives and their personal dramas. The nod to last Sarah's book main charater was a nice touch, as she was the writer of the book these friends read for their book club.
I recommend this!!
I adore Sarah Morgan’s books. I don’t think I have read one of them that I didn’t love so I always look forward to her new releases! This is a magical, heartwarming Christmas read full of warm characters, a hotel with a dreamy name, Maple Sugar Inn, and books - really, what’s not to love!!!
There’s also a bit of a link between this and one of her previous novels (The Island Villa).
This will be the perfect stocking filler for any Sarah Morgan fans or for those who love a good Christmas read.
Sarah Morgan has done it again. A beautiful setting, characters you want to be friends with and a storyline that keeps you turning the page long after you should have turned off the light. There wasn’t one main character I disliked and I found myself rooting for everyone’s happy ending. A thoroughly festive read, highly recommended.
If this isn’t the definition of a feel good festive book I don’t know what is!
A huge thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for gifting me this copy.
I absolutely loved this book, what’s not to love it involves Christmas and books and great friendships and relationships. Tick tick tick in my eyes.
The four main characters are all interesting and have their own approach to life and own stories to tell. I enjoyed getting to hear from each of their points of views as we went through the book and really liked how they evolved and helped each other.
I also loved that books and a book club was the centre of this book and how it shows you to be brave and step outside comfort zones.
Brilliant book Sarah!!
This is an enjoyable easy read to get into in the run up to Christmas. 3 friends meet up in a hotel for their book but a lot more unravels than they had anticipated. It is a compelling story that makes you want to read until the end. It definitely has a feel-good factor which is exactly what you want in a festive read!
I always look forward to Sarah Morgan's Christmas novels and this one doesn't disappoint. When three friends go on a trip for their annual book club meet up Erica suggests going to Vermont to Maple Sugar Inn set in an idyllic location which isn't like her at all as she usually prefers boutique hotels but she had another reason for going there which will change her lifestyle choices forever. Its run by Hattie a young widow with a five year old daughter who is a little firecracker and brings so much love and joy that shine through the story. Don't want to spoil the anything but its beautiful story, lovely characters and just the right amount of festive cheer that will make you feel you want to curl up with a nice hot cuppa and enjoy the book.I loved it and highly recommend it
I loved this. It is about three long time friends. They meet regularly and spend a week together in a hotel to relax and discuss the book they have all been reading. All three have very different lifestyles. This time they are spending time in Vermont a snowy little town where locals all rally around to help each other in times of need. I liked how the story came together and each women’s life was discussed in detail. It was a nice touch that the Author had appeared in the previous book. This is a wonderful story about family, friendships, love, loss and romance. A delightful Christmas tale that I highly recommended.
I absolutely loved this book set in a snowy Vermont and centred around three lifelong friends, and one innkeeper.
Erica, Claudia and Anna met at college and have been best friends ever since, even though their lives have led them in different directions. Erica is a jet-setting career woman who has no ties and doesn't want them. Claudia is floundering a bit after her partner of 10 years suddenly walked out and she also lost her job. Anna is the nurterer of the group, a wife and mother whose children are about to fly the nest and she doesn't quite know what to do with herself next as her whole life revolves around her children.
All three women meet up every year for their book club get-away, and this year Erica booked them into the wonderfully cosy Maple Sugar Inn in Vermont just before Christmas, which is most unlike Erica as she likes sleek 5-star hotels, so what's going on?
The owner of the inn, young widow Hattie, is struggling with running the inn and looking after her young daughter. She unfortunately employs an extremely irritating chef and housekeeper and is trying to run everything the way her husband had wanted (he initially employed them) but it's just not working and she's feeling under a lot of pressure, although she does have a very handsome neighbour around to distract her a bit!
Then the book friends arrive, secrets are revealed, disasters happen but are solved, everyone slowly works through their feelings on various topics, and by Christmas they all find their place in the world again with the help of their friends who are always there for each other no matter what happens.
An absolutely delightful read that I didn't want to end!
