The Christmas Book Club by Sarah Morgan is a lovely festive read, perfect for avid and occasional readers alike. Its the story of Erica, Claudia, and Anna, who reunite every year for their book club holiday. They meet at Maple Sugar Inn, an idyllic hotel run by Hattie, a single mother close to breaking point. As their personal stories entwine, their holiday becomes crisis management, but with, as ever, a satisfying ending. I loved the characters and their stories - fans of the author won't be disappointed!
With thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Amazing book, loved this story, ,lots of ups and downs like real life. Got it for Christmas in my Christmas Eve box so read it again, it’s an amazing book and love Sarah Morgan
I am a fan of Sarah Morgan but this book was even better than I could have imagined.
The friendships explored throughout this were great, raw and a true representation of friendship. I loved how they developed across the story.
I enjoyed this so much that I bought a copy for both of my friends midway through, to replicate the Christmas book club and also celebrate our friendship.
Another great Christmas book from Sarah Morgan. Perfectly cozy location, a strong cast of characters, realistic friendships and storylines, the perfect Christmas read,
Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley UK for a free ebook in exchange for an honest review.
It wouldn’t be Christmas without a Sarah Morgan book Christmas book
I absolutely loved this book based on friendship and secrets. The book is a warm cup of hot chocolate and is perfect for Christmas times
The perfect Christmas story. I enjoyed this book very much, I was all ready for christmas by the time I had finished it.
I would definitely recommend this book
Sarah Morgan is my ultimate go to when it comes to Christmas Books and The Christmas Book Club was the perfect wintry Christmas read.
I always love how there is strong female friendships in Sarah’s books and I love how the friends all came together to help one another out. Put this together with a cozy hotel in Vermont, think cosy fires, snowy mountain sides and you have the perfect recipe for a delicious festive read.
I want to go to Maple Sugar Inn it sounds absolutely perfect.
If you are a fan of Sarah’s books then I highly recommend this.
Another fabulous Christmas book by Sarah Morgan.
Erica, Anna and Claudia have been best of friends since college, setting up their own book club where they meet once a year for a week to discuss a book and catch up with one another, Erica’s choice of hotel this year is very unlike her, firstly it’s in the middle of no where and an inn not a five star luxury hotel her friends are used to Erica picking. Hattie the young inn manager has been through a lot over the past couple of years, losing her husband in a freak accident and becoming a single mum to Delphi all while trying to run the inn the same way Brent did.
A fab story I throughly enjoyed the book
Sarah Morgan is one of my favourite authors but I especially loved this heartwarming Christmas read. There couldn’t be a better combination than a plot centred around strong women finding themselves and their love of books culminating in yearly book reading retreats. It made me want to step right into the pages and join them in this beautiful setting. The characters were likeable and strong, the setting was beautiful and I couldn’t put it down. Thanks as always netgalley.
I love Sarah Morgan and this one did not disappoint and as a massive book reader. Christmas and a bookclub is just magical to read about. The 3 main characters you really want to know more about and feel for as you learn maybe there lives are not as perfect as the others first think. This is such an enjoyable book and you will not want to put it down.
I didn't read this at Christmas time - I think I would have enjoyed it more had I done so. I did enjoy it however, it was festive and easy going. A nice cosy relaxing read.
I saw a quote about Sarah Morgan's books once and it said ' yourself happy'. I couldn't agree more. I've read a different Sarah Morgan Christmas book every year for quite a number of years now and they are always exactly what I look for at this time of year.
The Christmas Book Club is my favourite of hers so far. It is cosy, full on Christmassy (I'm talking snow, decorations, sledding, logfires, sweaters and more) and the story left me warm and fuzzy. There is also a particularly endearing child character, of which I'm a sucker for!
Not a typical Christmas romance story, in that it focuses on the love between friends and family....there is a little romance throughout too, but it's not the central focus. The main characters have their struggles and their stories , even though set in magical Christmas land, feel authentic, meaning the story wasn't sickly sweet. I found I really cared about them too.
I really loved it....it's warm, uplifting and full of heart. This is a luxurious hot chocolate with marshmallows and cinnamon sugar on top; exactly what I hope for when I open up a Christmas book.
I'm a big fan of Sarah Morgan, I always thoroughly enjoy all the feels of a Sarah Morgan book and this didn't disappoint. This was a lovely, festive read. Thank you.
Would love to be in a book club which meet up every year. Sadly my friends aren't readers. I love the relationship between the 3 friends and love the connection between Erica and Hattie it definitely allows a different side for each of them to be seen. Definitely recommend!
This was an okay read. A solid enough book for winter and Christmas time, but I didn't fall in love with it as much as I hoped to. I liked the characters but never sunk into the narrative the way I like to with a great book.
I am a massive Sarah Morgan fan and look forward to her Christmas books every year. This was a delightful read full of love, laughter and amazing friendships, of course it was predictable and you knew the outcome from the beginning but that didn't stop me loving it any less
Hattie is running her little inn with her daughter but is she doing it for her or her deceased husband. Erica, Anna and Claudia plan a book club meet up and Hattie's inn and their lives all intersect. Erica is fearful of commitment after her father left, Anna is trying to cope with her twins growing up and Claudia isnt sure where she is going right now. Maybe this week away is what they all need.
Gotta love a Sarah Morgan book at christmas or even after. I'm such a fan and was so excited to see a new book. This didn't disappoint either. It was such a good story. I love how their stories all came together and we saw them each grow and learn. The plot is fun and sweet. Delphi just might be my favourite character. The ending was brilliant and its a perfect festive read.
Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without a festive novel, I've always picked one or two to read every December and Sarah Morgan's books never fails to give me all those festive feels.
I enjoyed every moment reading this book, especially as the group of friends Erica, Claudia and Anna are the same age as myself. I felt really connected to them and straight away felt invested in their lives. It's an uplifting story of friends, family, scenic settings, love and laughter, and a book club…perfection
Every summer Erica, Claudia and Anna meet to catch up and have a book club meeting. This year it happens at Christmas, for various reasons and they stay in the Maple Sugar Inn, which is an unusual choice for Erica. It is run by Hattie who is a single mother trying to keep hold of the dreams had by herself and her husband but she is struggling. The three ladies all have their own problems, they have all reached a crossroad of some sort in their personal or professional life. Some secrets are revealed over the course of the ladies stay and all of the ladies learn to rely on others to help them through.
I loved this book, it was cosy and comforting even though some dilemmas were brought up. The characters were lovely, if complex at times, and the setting was divine. Well worth a read!
Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for granting me an advance copy.
In this wonderfully festive read, we join three close but very different friends in their late 30s – Erica, Claudia, and Anna – as they head to a beautiful little inn for their annual get-together. Each of the friends is facing a challenge in their lives, so welcome a nice break in a festive locale for a bit of a distraction. However, this type of an escape isn’t possible for the hotel owner Hattie, who is struggling to run the inn and raise her very young daughter following the loss of her husband, whose dream the inn the originally was.
There are several twists and turns, and the stories get increasingly intertwined as the four women spend time together at the wonderfully cosy hotel. While the story doesn’t head in any particularly unpredictable directions, it is an enjoyable plot which licks along at a nice pace.
This was a lovely, festive read and I'll certainly be reading more by this author.
My thanks to the author, NetGalley, and the publisher for the arc to review.
