Widower Hattie owns a lovely Maple Sugar Inn in Vermont along with her daughter, it was her husbands dream, but Hattie is feeling overwhelmed.
Three friends that go away for a week every year for book club week is ready to arrive, but one has other reasons for choosing this hotel.
It’s a lovely Christmas read with snow, warm fires and books. A hug in a book.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy.
Such a lovely Christmassy book. I loved Erica, Anna and Claudia, the book club friends and Hattie the owner of the inn. Each lady is dealing with their own personal matters but the friends show how much they care for each other in their support and kindness and think of others before themselves. A fab Christmas read.
The perfect Christmas cosy read, I now need to visit the town with the snow, bookshop and of course stay at the hotel. Friendships, books, food it was the ideal combination. Lots going on, slightly predictable but that is the delight of a Sarah Morgan Christmas read.
Thank you
Such a wonderful festive read and Sarah Morgan NEVER disappoints. Some Christmas books are cliched but not hers.
The story around friendship with a little whiff of romance was a refreshing change from the Christmas "boy meets girl, boy and girl fight, one storms off, but then they make up" formula that many books are made up of at this time of year.
Grab a hot chocolate, a snuggly blanket and settle down for a wonderful few hours in the company of Erica, Claudia, Anna, Hattie and the wonderfully cute Delphi.
What a delightful read! Sarah Morgan’s Christmas books are always the perfect escapism and I loved this one. Set in snowy Vermont in the lead up to Christmas, the setting was a delight, as were the characters. I loved the strong female characters and the friendships within this book. It was a lovely read and the perfect book to curl up with on a dark winters night!
Thank you to Netgalley and HQ for this e-arc exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely loved this one, it totally got me into the Christmas spirt and I want to check into the Maple Sugar Inn ASAP!
This is the third year running I have read Sarah Morgans Christmas novels and they just get better and better! I didnt think she could top last years Snowed in For Christmas but this one has a bit of everything you want at Christmas, friendship, romance, snow!
I honestly could not have loved this book any more than I did and I would tell anyone who is wanting to get into the cosy Christmas vibe to read it immediately!
(3.5)
Adore a cosy festive read! For me it was wonderful to not see the cheating husband trope for once and focus more on the friendship and family journey. I will say that the constant reminder of the characters ages and Insta love confession at the end was a bit disappointing for me.
Thank you to HQ for my ARC
Another good read from Morgan, a writer who understands her market. Perfect setting filled with imperfect characters and a solid ending. Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without her.
Hattie is the owner of The Maple Sugar Inn in Vermont she is a single mum to Delphi after her husband Brent died suddenly. The Inn was their dream but Hattie doesn't feel as though she's good enough to run it on her own and tries to keep it going the way Brent had it running which isn't her style.
Three friends book into the inn for a week for their book club, but each of them has a secret they haven't shared with each other. Erica has a reason she chose this particular inn for their book club holiday, Claudia has recently lost her job as a chef and Anna is struggling because her twins will be old enough to leave home soon and she doesn't know what she's going to do without them, even though she's got Pete her husband. Just why did Erica pick this inn to come to she normally loves boutique hotels with spas in the city?! Does Claudia still want to be a chef and how is Anna going to cope, will she realise that Pete is enough for her?
I loved this novel another great one from Sarah Morgan. She managed to capture the Christmas, spirit perfectly. Magnificently written and a stunning setting with an amazing romance added into the mix, what's not to love and be excited about? Many thanks to HQ for inviting me to read this as if read Sarah Morgan before. Will be recommending and can't wait for her next novel.
I always look forward to a Christmas book from this author, and she's delivered the perfect cosy romantic tale with independent women at a changing point in their lives, friendship, secrets and romance. The setting is festive, wintry, and wonderfully described through the characters' observations and emotions. The secrets gradually emerge as the stories are revealed, and everyone eventually feels they can face their new challenges positively. It has complex relationships, uplifting friendships and heartwarming romance, making it the perfect festive escapist read.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
I’d like to thank Netgalley and HQ for approving me for an ARC of this book.
🏠The Maple Sugar Inn sounded like my idea of heaven! Cosy, filled with delicious food and a library, it’s the perfect getaway for fellow bookworms!
🤗 Erica,Claudia and Anna are the unlikeliest of friends but it’s their differences that make their friendship work so well. I loved seeing them band together in this story, giving each other support and much needed advice.
💜 My heart broke for Hattie on several occasions. I admired her determination and ability to keep a level head, even in the most dire of situations. Throughout the story I wanted to see her find that slice of happiness she deserved and create her own vision for the inn.
🌟 Once again Sarah Morgan has delivered a story that is perfect for these chilly evenings. I can think of nothing better than snuggling up with a blanket and this book for company.
Another successful story written by Sarah Morgan who has the well-earned title of Queen of Romance. This latest Christmas story has, I am pleased to say has romance in abundance.
Three firm friends have delayed their annual book club vacation, which usually occurs in summer to just before the Christmas holidays. Erica who is a single independent woman books them into the luxurious Maple Sugar Inn hotel set in an idyllic location. Anna the perfect mother and wife has reservations about the trip, as she is desperate to spend time with her twins who are off to university and she is already dreading the empty nest. Claudia who is recently divorced and redundant from her job as a chef is at a turning point in her life as she tries to decide just what she wants to do next. These three characters are all very different and although they are best friends, they each hold their own insecurities and apprehensions.
The hotel owner Hattie has her own worries as she muddles through the daily tasks and stresses it takes to be a top class hotelier, a legacy she is determined to uphold as set by her late husband, as well as Mum to the delightful Delphi her 5-year-old daughter.
I loved the connections between all these female characters and their background stories. Set in a gorgeous location, which oozed Christmas bode for a perfect Christmas story.
My thanks to Net Galley and the publishers HarperCollins for the ARC of this fabulous festive novel.
Three university friends meet up in a hotel every year to talk about books and catch up on each other’s lives. This year, Erica chooses the location but she has an alterior motive as she’s interested in finding out about the hotel’s proprietor.
The three women all think the others ha e perfect lives, but every one of them is facing difficulties and change, none of which is welcomed. Through sharing their lives and worries, they all learn to embrace the changes they are facing, be that a new job, new relationship or empty nest syndrome.
This is a fairly typical, Christmas chick lit. Set in a beautiful inn in snowy Vermont, it has everything a Christmas story should have - friendship, family, snow and romance.
I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Wow, what a read! This book teaches so many lessons along the way!
Erica, Claudia and Anna usually meet up for their annual book club discussions in summertime. This year it gets delayed by life events so once Erica decides on a venue which is totally out of her comfort zone. In more ways than one, they find themselves in an idyllic setting that they fall in love with instantly. Little realising that it will make them re-evaluate their own lives . Showing that we can all learn from one another.
There is the career woman, the people pleaser and the organiser, who is who? I found myself examining my own life, suffice to say I was definitely Anna. Lift this book and I guarantee you won’t be disappointed. The only disappointment was that it ended.
Sarah Morgan is the queen of festive writing and The Christmas Book Club is no exception - perfect to get in the mood for the season!
Absolute perfection.
I spent happy hours wrapped in a blanket when I had flu reading this. It is a great mixture of friendship and soul searching with the magic of Christmas sprinkled on.
I really wish the Inn was real because I want to holiday there.
Recommended to everyone I can bore with on how escapist this is.
This book didn’t hook me in straight away and I didn’t really connect with the characters. It was a pleasant read but too predictable for me.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to read this book.
Is it even Christmas if you don't read Sarah Morgan??? This was such a joy to read! It was a warm hug full of friendship, family, love and all things Christmas.
It's such a cosy read, perfect to snuggle up with a blanket and hot chocolate, and it will give you all those magical Christmas vibes!!
Please can I just live in this book at Maple Sugar Inn?
Thank you the author, publisher and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review
Have always loved Sarah's books and again this one certainly did not disappoint. A lovely warm hug in a book full if Christmas cheer, friendships and love.
Erica, Anna and Claudia, 3 lifelong friends, who every year enjoy a week away, naming the week as their book club. This year, the holiday is delayed until December and Erica appears to have chosen an obscure venue in the snow....a beautiful hotel but a destination so out of character for her.
As the holiday begins, life changing family secrets are discovered, alongside finding love, new beginnings and new priorities.
An absolute joy of a read, highly recommend.
I want to live in this book!! Take me to the Maple Sugar Inn and leave me there forever, please and thank you.
The character dynamics were so enjoyable and the plot moved seamlessly from one small twist to another. What a lovely read
