Three friends, a book club, and a well kept secret at the Maple Sugar Inn.. All part of this lovely, uplifting Christmas story. A joyous book full of change, festive cheer and new beginnings. Such an enjoyable read.
Hattie Coleman is the Innkeeper in Vermont, at Maple Sugar Inn. At only twenty eight years old she is a widow and mum to five year old Delphi.
Hattie has a lot on her plate dealing with the business and her young daughter, she hopes for some changes in life, will they happen?
What a wonderful heartwarming and feel good book, I absolutely loved reading this.
A good bunch of interesting characters, with a delightful little Delphi and dog Rufus thrown into the mix.
I love the attention to detail in describing some of the things they were doing, and will copy the Christmas present wrapping mentioned. The food made me want to dine there, and afterwards I’d snuggle up in the library with a glass of red wine and a good book.
A book of love, friendship, families, empathy, loyalty, courage and believing in yourself. It has a sprinkle of everything.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Publisher for an advanced e-book copy. Opinions about the book are entirely my own.
Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.
Another brilliant read from Sarah,
Every year friends Erica, Claudia and Anna go on a book club holiday. Erica has booked the holiday this year at the cosy Maple Sugar Inn for a Christmas escape. Hattie the owner of the lodge loves making her guests dreams come true however, this year she just wants the Christmas season to be over as being a single mom and running the inn she is near to breaking point. Each of them have secrets that are revealed throughout their stay in Maple Sugar Inn. Can they help each other by revealing the secrets they have and work together to overcome them?
Cute seasonal read. From heart ache to happiness. Hattie recently widowed has had a hard few years running her husband’s dream business since his passing. When the wheels fall off can Claudia, Anna and Erica come to the rescue. Another lovely book by Morgan
What a delightful book! Really lovely characters, a truly cosy, Winter read! I laughed lots, the youngest character truly stole the show with her heartwarming innocence and humour, very sweet! Sarah Morgan never fails to deliver 🙂
Thank you Netgalley for this ARC in return for an honest review!
Another heartwarming festive tale from Sarah Morgan who never fails to deliver. Missing Hattie, Erica, Claudia and Anna nowwhichis always the sign of a good book with relateable charaters.
I love books by this author as she always has great characters. Her settings always make you wish you were there and why not when Maple Sugar Inn sounds so nice. There is also a mention to one of her previous books in there as well.
Loved it and enjoyed the read while on holiday recently so just catching up with reviews.
My thanks as always to NetGalley and Publishers HQ for the read.
This is another cosy Christmas novel from Sarah Morgan which will be ideal holiday reading. Three women are meeting for their yearly book club holiday. Erica is the business woman who might be opening up to wider possibilities; Anna is happily married but he children are about to leave home and she is dreading it; Claudia’s partner has left her and she’s lost her job and her passion for cooking. In addition there is Hattie who owns the hotel. Her husband has died and she is tentatively starting a new romance with Noah. All of the women help each other to move forwards in a heart-warming manner perfect for a cold winter night, I also enjoyed the moments with Delphi, Hattie’s daughter who brought a lot of humour to stop the story being too cloying, You know what you are expecting with this author and she delivers it well. Thanks to Netgalley for an ARC.
This is another wonderful Christmas book by Sarah Morgan. It's full of warmth, humour and the odd surprise revelation.
The book is told by four voices, the three friends, Erica, Claudia, and Anna, and also the owner of the Maple Sugar Inn, Hattie! After about half way I was used to the differences in each voice and no longer needed to check who was telling me the current bit of the story as they were quite different people.
After the first chapter by each I had an idea of where this book was going and I was half right but then shortly after this there was this huge revelation which overshadowed most of what had come before and coloured most of what was to come.
This really is a lovely festive story which ran me through a gamut of emotions and now I have recovered from this, I'm eagerly awaiting the next Sarah Morgan book to come!
Three friends meet a couple times a year to discuss books and catch up, taking turns to choose the book and venue. This year, city lover, Erica, has chosen an inn in rural Vermont. The friends are puzzled but gradually all is revealed..
A feel good tale of friends and family dynamics. Just right to curl up with.
I really enjoyed this book. The setting was just beautiful - the descriptions of the inn and the surrounding village really created a perfect Christmassy backdrop to the story. I enjoyed following the group of friends as they all went on their own personal journeys through various crossroads in their lives. A real focus on good friendships and a bit of romance thrown into some of the character’s stories of course. Just a really great story, perfect for the festive season. I’ll be recommending this to everyone.
I really enjoyed this book. Its a perfect, cosy, Christmas read, I would love to visit the Inn! The story follows Hattie who runs the Inn and 3 friends who regularly meet for their book club.
Nobody creates a cosy Christmas atmosphere like Sarah Morgan. This was no exception. You have no idea how much I want to visit the Maple Sugar Inn, especially if it becomes the Book Club Hotel. Characters to fall in love with, a great storyline and a cosy Christmas background - what's not to love, I feel quite bereft that I've finished to be honest! Erica, Claudia and Anna have been friends since they were roommates at college. Each as a completely different life as they approach 40. Once a year they take a week to stay in a hotel and focus on themselves and a book. This year it happens to be near Christmas, and corporate hardhitter Erica surprises her friends with the suggestion of a cosy country lodge. The other two know there must be a reason, but Erica won't say - until they arrive and she's stunned into silence. Her self discovery is one of the highlights. #netgalley #thechristmasbookclub
A sweet uplifting festive delight.
Erica is a forty year old career woman searching for contentment. Anna’s teenage twins are becoming self reliant and she is questioning everything. Claudia is a chef whose long term partner has left her for a younger woman.
Together they are the the Christmas Book Club, close since college they plan a getaway to a cosy inn in snowbound Vermont where Hattie is a single mum trying to keep her business open.
Sarah Morgan never misses her stories are brimming with wisdom and sisterhood, I adore them.
Bursting with heartwarming holiday vibes, this one is packed with single parent romance, second chances and new starts.
I loved reading about a group of forty somethings ( I am am one…sssh don’t tell anyone) their struggles were relatable and beautifully written.
And the romance between Hattie and Noah aka the Christmas Tree Man was sweet, lovely and down right adorable. The best single parent romance I have read in a while, this trope is definitely growing on me.
✬ Like a decadent hot chocolate this book is perfect for cosy festive days relaxing by the tree/fire.
I expected this to me be a cosy read and I wasn't wrong. Three friends from college are now almost 40 and are embarking on their annual week long book club holiday. This year is different for all of them due to changes in their circumstances.
Hattie runs the Inn that they have booked and has had her own difficulties since the sudden death of her husband but is getting by while trying to see through his vision for the inn. A vision which doesn't match hers..
I thought it was going to centre around Christmas but it wasn't really., that felt very much like a background theme to me.
I enjoyed the book but I never doubted that I would. An easy non challenging read.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC.
A Sarah Morgan book is like a cup of comfort and an old friend, her characters are believable and the storylines are engaging. This story drew me in and I couldn’t put it down. A book club, friends and love what more do you need
I absolutely love, love, loved this one. A story of love, loss, families and friendships. A story of moving on and making radical changes to your life, either through choice, tragedy or decisions of others. All this with a covering of snow, Christmas and a magical backdrop.
The one problem with this story, it ended! It certainly is one of those books you want to devour but also read slowly so you don’t reach the end too soon.
I can assure you that you will fall in love with Erica and her friends as they embark on their annual ‘book club’ holiday.
Definitely give this one a read. You will not regret it (apart from when you can’t put it down and are tired the next day!)
I would absolutely love a follow up to this, I want to know more about all these wonderful characters.
Overall well written with well developed characters and the author as a way of writing which makes you feel as though you are right inside the book, seeing and feeling what the characters are.
Thank you NetGalley, HQ and Sarah Morgan for this ARC in exchange for my review.
Oh my goodness! What magical, Christmas vibes! This feel good story centres around 4 women at pivotal times in their life, with the Maple Sugar Inn at the heart of it all. You fall in love with each character as you read through their story, revealing the power of long lasting friendships and family.
It is the perfect festive book, ready to curl up with a blanket and a Hot Chocolate on the run up to Christmas! Such a cosy read, I couldn't put it down!!
It just isn't Christmas with a Sarah Morgan book to lose yourself in; and this one is no exception. A lovely read for the festive season.
This is a story about three very different friends that met in college. Anna, Erica and Claudia. They are all about to be 40 years of age and changes are to be made in their lives. Although all the changes are different, the one solid fact is that they are always there for each other. There is one other main character and that is the hotel owner, Hattie. Hattie has had some trauma in her life and is trying to move on. This was a lovely heartwarming story about the value of true friendship but also how important family is. The setting is very picturesque, from the cosy hotel to the seasonally decorated shops, I would have loved to spend time in the bookshop! I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
