We’re back in Jersey with the latest page-turner by Georgina Troy: Snow Angels at Golden Sands Bay.
When Portia Fortescue had traded the stress of her London life to help renovate a gorgeous French manor house on the island of Jersey with her boyfriend Charlie, it was meant to be the start of a wonderful new adventure for them. However, their chateau dream quickly turned into a nightmare of epic proportions! With their property in shambles and their relationship stretched to its limits, Portia is terrified that she is going to end up losing everything. However, life at Golden Sands Bay does have a habit of surprising you when you least expect it…
As their friends and family rally round them, Portia and Charlie realise that theirs is a love that is worth frightening for. Just when everything seemed mired in hopelessness and despair, Portia and Charlie are finally seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. Will they manage to open their chateau in time? Can they rise above the challenges that keep being thrown their way? And will their love survive when it is tested like it has never been before?
A dreamy romantic read full of warmth, humour, magic and heart, Snow Angels at Golden Sands Bay is another enjoyable tale by Georgina Troy. An enchanting read about trusting your instincts, the joy of family and friends and the power of love, find your snuggliest blanket, make yourself a huge mug of hot cocoa and indulge in this fabulous romance by Georgina Troy: Snow Angels at Golden Sands Bay.
Love me some Georgina Troy, this book has not disappointed. Great characters, emotional and engaging. Fully Recommended.
Portia and Charlie, living in London, decide to renovate Charlie's inherited chateau on Jersey. Portia sells her flat to fund the renovations, aiming for a shared home. Challenges arise – no heat, damaged windows, and collapsing ceilings. They face the harsh Jersey winter, testing their resolve. The alternating chapters reveal their struggles, friends, and the charm of the Jersey community. Will they overcome obstacles and find happiness away from London? It's a heartwarming tale of love, challenges, and the allure of a small-town life.
This cover and title really drew me in. I was excited to pick this read up. I always enjoy a book with a beach setting and this one nailed it.
I had not realised this was part of a series until I started reading, but even so it work as a syandalone and enough background was filled in. Two seemingly different people who enjoy different lifestyles manage to change and compromise due to love and a huge renovation project. A story of friendship, hope, love and island life.
When boyfriend Charlie inherits a rundown chateau in a small village, Portia must decide between her lovely London flat and her relationship with Charlie. Since Charlie is obviously happier in the small town, they decide to try renovating the chateau and turning it into an event space. But mishaps will happen and perhaps set back their plans for a new life together. Readers will enjoy following them through their fix-ups to see if they can achieve their dream together.
I received this novel from the publisher and from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed here are my own.
Another wonderful feel good book by Georgina. It's wonderful, fun and uplifting. It will definitely put a smile on everyones face.
Friends, this is a touching story about friendship and second chances that will keep you cozy on a day when you need some TLC. Snow Angels at Golden Sands Bay by Georgina Troy is part of a series, but can be read as a standalone. After reading this installment, I want to go back and read the rest.
Meet Portia. She leaves her lavish life in London and moves to the island of Jersey to live with her boyfriend. He just inherited a very run-down chateau there and has the idea of turning it into an upscale hotel. Will their relationship be able to handle the strain, or will it collapse like this chateau is about to?
Troy wrote characters that hit very relatable notes, and really portrayed emotions well. I really enjoyed the world she created on the boardwalk, including the entire cast of characters. I felt like they really made the story. This was delightful read and I highly recommend for anyone looking for a warm read.
This was the first book I'd read by Georgina Troy. I was slightly worried that I may have missed out on some important information from previous novels in the Boardwalk Series but reading this as a standalone worked perfectly well for me.
It was a light, easy and cute read. The initial chapters did have trouble keeping my attention but I am glad I pursued it to the end.
Portia Fortescue met her boyfriend Charlie on the Island of Jersey when she was there visiting her ex-fiancé's brother. He had died three years before and she didn't think she would find love again. Charlie was a friend and they hit it off well. He moved to London to be with Portia, but he missed his small community on the island. Portia planned a trip for them, to help offset his melancholy. It turns out that Charlie has inherited a French Manor House on the island and Portia sells her beautiful flat to help renovate the house. It isn't as easy as they thought, but help comes in various ways.
This is the fifth book in the series and I have not read any of the others. I had no problem following and enjoying this story. This is a beautifully written book with great characters. I loved Portia and Charlie and really wanted them to succeed with their project and their relationship. Portia, being a city girl, struggles at times with their decision and I was worried she was going to pack it all in, but she hung in there. Their friends from the Boardwalk were amazing and the book showcased true friendship and community spirit. Snow Angles on the Boardwalk is set during the winter, with all the complications the cold brings. This was a heartwarming book about friendship, community and love. It is a story that I enjoyed, although I had been expecting more of a holiday story, that is my issue, not the blurbs. This is a delightful winter story that I recommend.
This wasn’t my favour of the Boardwalk series but an enjoyable read none the less
Charlie and Portia have moved to London to live in Portia flat but she can tell he isn’t happy and is missing the Island so surprises him him with a trip back. The surprise is on he4 though when she finds out that Charlie’s aunt has left him her chateau on the island.
Can she leave her life in London for a life on the island restoring a crumbling chateau with Charlie ?
I had a hard time finishing this book, the early pages simply did not grab my attention. I think more character development earlier on could've helped to establish the setting.
BLOG TOUR REVIEW
Review for 'Snow Angels At Golden Sands Bay' by Georgina Troy.
Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Georgina Troy, Book And Tonic, Boldwood Books and Rachel's Random resources Tours.
Publication date 25th August 2023.
This is the first book I have read by this author but it most definitely won't be my last!! It is also the fifth book in the 'Golden Sands Bay' series.
This novel consists of 45 chapters. The chapters are short to medium in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
This book is beautifully written and completely absorbs you in the stunning atmosphere of Jersey and really sucks you in with the vivid descriptions leaving you feel the snowdrops and smell of the sea. The synopsis and cover suits the storyline perfectly.
I absolutely loved this gorgeous book and cannot wait to get stuck in to the previous and future books in this series!!! Honestly if you are ever in need of a break and fancy the gorgeous Jersey then grab this stunner and prepare to be whisked away on a beautiful holiday!!! The storyline is authentic and realistic as well as easy to read and heartwarming. There was plenty of events going on throughout and it kept me hooked from start to end, I read it in one sitting while wrapped up warm inside with it rains outside at the same time Portia and Charlie were feeling the snow drift in Jersey. However, Georgina's fantastic writing skills felt like I was in Jersey instead of the rainy Wales I am actually sitting in. The storyline was filled with a range of emotions and was heartwarming, devastating and had love, relationships and friendships all going on in this beautiful atmosphere. It felt like a lovely break away from Wales!! I loved how the story ended and I would love to read more about the life in the gorgeous Island of Jersey. I was absolutely devastated when I came to the end of this book as I was truly whisked away to Jersey feeling the snow in my hair and looking at the stunning views. I absolutely loved the gorgeous atmosphere and the warm embrace of everyone in the community. The storyline was so heartwarming and it was such an easy and relaxing read with moments of laughter, some tension and sadness but overall happiness. It ended absolutely perfectly and I would love to see more of these amazing characters soon!! Hint, hint Georgina 😉!!!
An absolutely gorgeous book!! I cannot wait to go on my next adventure with the very talented Georgina. I absolutely adored being in Jersey but I also enjoyed learning and reading about Portia, Charlie and meeting new friends who I absolutely adored!!! An unforgettable holiday!!!
Although this is the fifth book in the series I had absolutely no problems reading it without the others. Any details or events that have previously happened are mentioned in just the right amount of detail to let a new reader know what has happened and yet not too much to bore a previous reader.
It is always worrying when starting a new series as you have no idea who the characters are. It is very important for me to bond with not only the lead protagonists but also any characters that may make repeat appearances during the series too.
The characters were all unique with their own realistic traits, strengths and weaknesses. It was intriguing to watch friendships and relationships grow, develop and change throughout the the storyline. Georgina's amazing evocative writing skills brought all the characters and community to life as much as possible and they all leapt out of the pages as well as the stunning atmosphere!!! Anyway, I best not say anymore as don't want to give anything else away for future readers!! It's just so easy talking about this fantastic book and so much I want to tell you all about but i really need to control myself!!! Needless to say I absolutely adored each and every character each for a different reason. All characters worked perfectly with the storyline and I would love to meet them again and cannot wait to get stuck into the previous and next books in this series!!!
Well done Georgina on an absolutely gorgeous book!!! I will definitely be looking for your books any time I need to be swept off to another country!!! Welcome to my favourite authors list and here's to your next success 🥂!!
Make sure you read to the very end of the book to read the first chapter of Georgina's ''Finding Love on Sunshine Island,' which promises to be just as addictive as this book and is one I'm definitely looking forward to reading myself!!
Overall an absolutely perfect light hearted, stunning unputdownable page turner that will sweep you off your feet and land you in Jersey.
338 pages.
This book is just £1.99 to purchase on kindle, free with kindle unlimited and £9.99 in paperback via Amazon or free on kindle unlimited which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!

Another book in the Boardwalk series and a lovely seasonal one as well. Fell into this from the very first page and I didn't want to put it down. Worthy of 5 stars.
Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this ARC
This book is part of a series and although it can be read as stand alone I think I would have liked to have read the previous books to get me up to speed on the characters who live on the Boardwalk.
This is a beautifully written book with great characters. I loved Portia and Charlie and really wanted them to succeed with their renovation of the chateau Charlie inherited. However, with Portia being a city girl I don't think she realised what she was letting herself in for and as the book went on, we started to see her struggle. This then led to some blips for them.
Their friends from the Boardwalk were amazing and the book showcased true friendship and community spirit. A beautiful heartwarming read with love and friendship at its heart.
I noticed the title had a name change which did confuse me a little as it seemed to be set at the Boardwalk so I don't really know where Golden Sands Bay comes from.
Thank you Netgalley, Boldwood Books and Rachel's Random Resources for my digital copy. All opinions are my own.
After reading Finding Love On Sunshine Island I was so happy to read a copy of this wonderful book, This was such a sweet story, it made a change for the story to be based around a couple so deeply in love - no will they wont they or shitty exes. I love the setting of this it feels so authentic. The small town vibe of this is totally perfect and feels like everyone is there for everyone and the community spirit is wonderful, I think we need a Portia and Charlie Novella because this ended so soon and was total escapism.
The Blurb :
Portia Fortescue has traded in the hustle and bustle of London to help renovate a magnificent French manor house on the beautiful island of Jersey with her boyfriend Charlie. But what they hoped would be a blissful escape to the chateau, turns out to be more of a DIY SOS. As the winter snow sets in, the stress of restoring the derelict building begins to take its toll on their relationship. Portia has known heartbreak before, but thought she’d found her happy-ever-after with Charlie… Then, just as all seems lost, Portia and Charlie discover the warmth of the Boardwalk community – the best friends anyone could ever ask for. This new life could be everything they want it to be... if only they can finish the chateau in time for its grand reopening
My Thoughts :
We are back with Portia and Charles, they are moving from London back to Charles home of Jersey.
Charles has inherited a Chateau that is in major need of renovation.
With lots of work to be done to get the hotel up and running soon, things dont go as planned and when the weather gets bad and the snow falls Portia and Charles face many obstacles and it seems its make or break for the couple.
Soon with the help and the support of the local community of friends, things start to fall into place and the couple start to see a light at the end of the tunnel. Can they get it ready for opening day or have they bitten off more than they can chew!?.
Although this is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. But if you read the previous books, you can familiarise yourself with the characters and background of the series.
Having loved Georgina Troy’s books in the past, this was not to disappoint. She writes with a style that draws the reader in and makes us fall in love with the characters.
Some great desciptive surroundings of Jersey, that will have you waiting for that winter snow and giving us all the feels.
Looking forward to more in the future from Georgina Troy.
It was a pleasure to be back in Jersey and seeing the familiar faces of the Boardwalk.
The second the action moved to Jersey I felt right at home amongst all the characters, even though it has been ages since I read the previous book in the series.
This definitely gave a good idea about how cold it can be on the island during the winter months, especially while renovating a run down chateau.
I loved seeing how Portia and Charlie got stuck into their new life and all the challenges that are in their way.
And the community feel to this was just lovely.
It was a real pleasure to read.
Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
This is a light-hearted but emotional and perfect seasonal read. With interesting characters and a good storyline. Georgina is an author that I have come to love.
Portia and her boyfriend Charlie are living in London, where Portia has a thriving events management career. Charlie is managing a restaurant, instead of the hotel he managed on Jersey, where they met.
The two are happy together, but Charlie is not happy away from his beloved Jersey.
When Charlie inherits his great-aunt's magnificent, but now in need of significant repair, chateau on Jersey, Portia encourages him to renovate it and open his own hotel. He's got the skills and experience to do a lot of the work himself, and Portia sells her London flat, which they have been living in, to pay for the work. It will put them, she feels, on equal footing in a new home which is theirs, rather than hers.
What can go wrong in renovating a magnificent but decayed old house, with the deadline of being ready to open for guests by spring? A lot!
No working heat. All the windows need to be replaced--and there's damage to the roof, that leads to collapsing ceilings in some rooms, some of them after they've been renovated. There are two kitchens--a big one that needs to be completely renovated before they can have paying guests, but also a smaller, modern one. That one lets them take in one paying tenant immediately, Remi the French baker.
So much goes well, and so much goes wrong. And while Charlie knew what he was getting into with doing the renovations mostly on their own and with the help of friends in the community, Portia didn't. She didn't realize how hard, and how relentless, the work would be. She wasn't prepared for the extra-cold Jersey winter they got, with no working heat until later in the winter.
While Charlie wasn't happy in London, Portia and Charlie both begin to fear that she's not cut out for life away from London.
We get their stories and viewpoints in alternating chapters, and we meet the friends and neighbors along the Jersey boardwalk which the chateau is up the hill from, who make them both want to make it work. Will they succeed? Can Portia give up London, and her friends and career there?
It's a wonderful, heartwarming story with likable, believable characters, and Jersey has the good kind of small town feel.
I received a free electronic galley from the publisher via NetGalley and Rachel's Random Resources.
