Ghosted by Sarah Ready is a lighthearted, feel-good romance with a fun supernatural twist. The premise is charming and unique, blending rom-com vibes with a ghostly element that adds humor and heart. Ready’s witty dialogue and endearing characters make for an easy, entertaining read.

While the chemistry between the leads is sweet and the emotional moments land well, the plot leans heavily on familiar tropes, making some twists feel predictable. The pacing also lags in spots, but the quirky charm keeps it afloat.

3 stars — a playful, romantic read with a creative twist, perfect for fans of light paranormal rom-coms, even if it doesn’t fully break new ground.

This book was not what I expected. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it definitely wasn’t anything that happened in this book.

Jillian was a dating expert, but she couldn’t talk to real, living men. I say living because she ended up communicating with Daniel, the ghost living in her new apartment. I got very invested in their story, because it was obvious they were falling for each other. But they couldn’t be together because he wasn’t alive. I mean, they couldn’t touch or anything. And I just wanted to know how they were going to get their HEA.

Then there was that whole twist when Daniel disappeared. And then reappeared…differently. But his reappearance was good and not-so-good for Jillian, (view spoiler). It made me even more invested in how they would get their HEA.

This was a cute and heartwarming story. Jillian learned how to talk to men, and she got more confidence in not only talking to them, but in just being herself.

Audiobook notes:
Narrated by: Sarah Naughton and Rob Brinkman
Narration Style: Dual (but only one chapter is performed by Rob Brinkman)

Sarah did a great job. I thought Rob would be narrating more throughout the story, not one only chapter (epilogue), so I was a little disappointed. But it was still a great audiobook

Sarah Ready’s *Ghosted* is a refreshingly quirky and heartwarming romantic comedy with a supernatural twist. Jillian Nejat, a socially awkward dating expert who ironically can’t talk to living men, finds herself navigating the uncharted waters of romance with an unexpected ally—her apartment’s ghostly inhabitant, Daniel.

Jillian is an endearing protagonist, with her sharp wit and relatable insecurities making her easy to root for. Her struggles as a self-proclaimed relationship guru who can’t handle relationships herself add both humor and depth to her character. Daniel, on the other hand, is the perfect foil: charming, confident, and incredibly persistent in his quest to help Jillian find love so he can move on to the afterlife. Their banter is sharp and laugh-out-loud funny, but it’s the tender, vulnerable moments that truly anchor their connection.

The story’s premise—practice dating with a ghost—could have felt far-fetched, but Ready grounds it with genuine emotion and strong character development. Jillian’s progression from a woman stuck in her fears to someone ready to open her heart is beautifully paced. Daniel’s journey is equally compelling, as he wrestles with his past and the bittersweet reality of falling for someone while being unable to stay with her.

The supporting cast adds a lively dimension, from Jillian’s colorful neighbors to her meddling clients. The setting of a cramped NYC apartment enhances the cozy, often comedic atmosphere.

While the book’s humor and heartfelt romance are its strengths, some aspects of the plot—like the mechanics of Daniel’s ghostly existence—require a suspension of disbelief. Additionally, the ending, though satisfying, feels slightly rushed, leaving a few questions unanswered.

Overall, *Ghosted* is a delightful, unconventional romance that blends humor, heartbreak, and hope. Sarah Ready crafts a story that’s both lighthearted and deeply emotional, making it a must-read for fans of romantic comedies with a touch of the unexpected.

This book was like eating potato chips - I just could not stop! I absolutely loved this book. Sarah Ready has done it again. She is the queen of writing meaningful and hilarious romances.

Jillian does not have her life together. Her journalism career is floundering, and her dating life is non-existent. When she moves into a cheap NYC apartment, she feels like she's hit rock bottom. The worst part? Her apartment is being haunted by a hot ghost. Hilarity ensues.

Paranormal romances aren't usually my go-to genre, but this was an absolute delight. Equal parts funny and heart-felt. Be prepared for a rollercoaster of emotions. If you've read The Dead Romantics, this has a similar premise, however, Ready has successfully written it in a way that there are very few similarities (besides both being awesome books).

I listened to the audiobook of this one and thoroughly enjoyed it. Narrators Sarah Naughton and Rob Brinkman were engaging and perfectly captured the emotions of this book. Great narration!

I don't have anything else to say. This book was great - you should stop reading this review and go read the book.

What an interesting premise for a book! Sarah Ready had me sucked in right away. Imagine moving into an apartment and it's haunted... by Hotty McHotpants! Daniel, the ghost, helps Jillian learn how to talk to men, how to date, and how to be her authentic self. I feel like it was a bit predictable but at the same time it had me hooked until the very end. Bravo Sarah Ready!

A delightful paranormal romance that blends humor and heart.

The story follows Jillian Nejat, a dating and relationship expert who can't speak to men, and Daniel, a charming ghost who becomes the only man she can communicate with. As they navigate their unusual relationship, Jillian's love life begins to transform in unexpected ways.

Daniel’s ghostly charm is hard to beat. His playful and endearing attempts to help Jillian navigate her dating life, despite his ghostly limitations, create a mix of humor and heart. The scenes where they interact are both funny and touching, highlighting their unique bond.

🎧The audiobook is expertly narrated by Sarah Naughton and Rob Brinkmann, who bring the characters to life with their engaging performances. Naughton captures Jillian's quirky, relatable personality, while Brinkmann's portrayal of Daniel is both suave and endearing. Their chemistry makes the story even more enjoyable and the listening experience truly immersive.

I never listened to it because my NetGalley app wasn't working properly. So I had to uninstall it and then all but two of my audio books were gone.

A cute romance full of forbidden swoon and a touch of insta-love. The paranormal aspect kept me entertained. I wanted to know what happened and how things would work! I was renewed of intrigue with each twist. The main character is the right level of awkward that makes me feel seen as she struggles to even socialize, let alone date. The NYC background felt right for anonymity. Overall, I will continue the series to see what comes next!

The main narrator, Sarah Naughton, does a fine job giving voice to the characters. She has a sweetness for both genders that endears the listener. She is also easily understood at faster speeds. There is a tidbit at the end narrated by Rob Brinkman. I wouldn’t mind the next books being a duet with these two.

Thank you NetGalley, WW Crown, and author Sarah Ready for the ARC in exchange for my honest review. “Ghosted” was published September 26, 2023!

"Ghosted" by Sarah Ready is a captivating romance novel. The story follows Jillian, a New York City columnist who writes about relationships while she waits for her own true love. A family friend sets her up on countless dates in hopes of helping her find the one, but Jillian struggles due to her shyness. Everything changes when she meets Daniel, a charming ghost in her new apartment. Despite the challenges of their unusual romance, Jillian falls deeply in love with him. However, Daniel suddenly disappears, leaving Jillian heartbroken. When she finally finds him alive in the streets of NYC, he has no memory of her. I thoroughly enjoyed this unique mix of romance and paranormal elements, as well as the subtle nods to "Star Trek" and the "Sex and the City" vibe. Many thanks to W.W. Crown for providing the audiobook for an honest review.

Many thanks to Netgalley, W.W. Crown and the author for the ALC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I feel like I have to say this for every single Sarah Ready book, it is like watching a full on series with drama and tears and laughter and what not. There is love, self discovery, healing, tenderness, amazing loving people surrounding the MCs. In short always a delight.

After listening a good few Sarah Ready books back to back, requesting this book was like not even a question also, this story is so close to a few of my childhood favorite movies and shows, clearly was a no brainer. The book follows the story of Jillian Nejat, who is the one and only dating expert for millions of people who follow her articles. Little do they no, she has an small hiccup, she cannot talk to men (kind of like our Raj from Big Bang Theory), so her dating life being a straight woman is kind of in shambles. Not to mention her bank account and her job.

As everything seems to be on the downfall, it is only normal that her new apartment that seems to be covered in mirrors on every single part of it is comes with free company aka a ghost. This shirtless sexy ghost (only Daniel no surname) has no idea why or how he is there or even that he is dead and also is the only man she seems to be able to talk to. As they struggle to adjust as 'housemates', Daniel decides to help Jillian out with her 'problem' because after all there needs to be some kind of purpose to his existence there and what else can it be.

Never have I had read a romance book that kept me on my toes, not to mention the whole mystery of what, how, where, when plus all the drama and the banter. The book was hilarious and heartfelt. The narrators also did such an amazing job. Will recommend this to anyone who is looking for a fun read with a supernatural twist to it.

Thank you so much for the advance reader's copy of this book. The concept is really cool, and the cover is amazing. The story sounds especially interesting for fans of magical realism. I believe this is the first in a series, and I'm eager to see what the other books will explore.

It was pretty long, but I was able to listen at 3x perfectly fine, so it didn't take up too much time. Sarah did a lovely job. Rob only narrated one chapter, so I don't have any complaints.

I’m still not sure how I feel about this book. This book is quirky PNR in a nutshell and I just don’t think it was what I was in the mood for at the time. However! I liked that this book took a turn I wasn’t expecting and that alone makes me want to give book 2 in this series a shot.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed both of the Sarah Ready books I’ve read, and would not hesitate to pick up other books by this author. I found the characters to be likable and they had good chemistry. I particularly enjoyed Jillian’s character development. I did find it to be a bit repetitive at times. The audiobook narration was good.
