⭐️⭐️⭐️ listen. Sarah kept me engaged though the whole audiobook.

- Paranormal Romance
- Slow Burn
- Spice (1/5🌶️)

Jillian is a dating and relationship article writer even though she sucks with interaction and cannot talk to men in person. When she moves into her New York apartment she is shocked to find it is also occupied by a ghost.... Daniel.

Daniel doesn't remember how he died or how he knows Jillian, just that he does. He helps her through her troubles, with work and men, while she tries to help him move on.

The feelings between them become undeniable and they they wish they could find a way to be together.

In an amazing twist of events they may find just that.

10/10 recommend

This was an amazing listen for me and I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to be an arc listener with NetGalley.

4.5 Stars

I really love the way Sarah Ready tells stories, and the characters she writes are some of my favorites. I get so emotionally invested in her stories and characters, she is easily an auto-buy author for me and I'm so happy I got to read this one early.

Jillian is in the biggest rut of her life. Her love life is non-existent (even if her godmother continues to set her up on dates), she's at risk of losing her job, and she's just moved into the world's cringes apartment. Oh, and did she mention is appears that her new apartment is already occupied? Daniel is a shirtless, six-pack wielding heartthrob, who appears to be dead. He's also the only man on earth Jillian is actually capable of talking to. Somehow their linked, and Daniel has decided the only way for him to move on is to help Jillian get her life back on track. He'll help her with her job and get her talking to men again, no problem. Of course, it's never that simple. The more time they spend together, the more it seems like Jillian is falling for the one man she can never have.

I seriously loved Daniel and Jillian so much. The way they connected with each other, and just got each other was so great. I loved the little mystery of how they were connected to each other, and I think the way that was revealed was quite unique to the story. I loved the Star Trek references. I think they were a great addition to the story and just a fun thing to spot for those who have watch any of the shows or movies. I loved that at the heart of this book, it was about being yourself and finding your own peace. Yes, of course there is a happy ending here, but I didn't feel like them finding a way to be together was the entire point of the story. At the end of the day, the way the two of them were able to find peace with their pasts was something I thought was really important to the story. I also surprisingly loved that this was told from just Jillian's point of view. Yes, I of course would have loved to have pieces from Daniel's point of view, but I think this one really worked the way it was told.

I also thing the narrator did a fantastic job with this one. I adored the audiobook. This is one I would easily recommend to anyone who enjoys the following.

✔️ Strangers to Friends to Lovers
✔️ Slight Amnesia
✔️ Soulmates
✔️ Ghosts/Paranormal
✔️ Forced Proximity
✔️ Star Trek
✔️ First Person Single POV

When I saw this cover I was intrigued. When I read the description I knew I needed to read it. I haven't heard of the author Sarah Ready yet but you best believe I'm about to read all her books though.

So the premise of "Ghosted"....
Jillian just moves into this sex den apartment (apartment covered in mirrors) when on her first night a ghost named Daniel shows up. Jillian is freaked out like most people would be, but she slowly starts to fall for Daniel as he gives her tips on how to date (see Daniel thinks it's his unfinished business to help Jillian fall in love).

I feel like I can't say more without ruining the book, but just read it. It's really adorable. It is a roller-coaster of emotions but it's so worth reading.

I have listen to this as audiobook.

I loved the narrators in this book who are 1Narrated by Sarah Naughton and Rob Brinkman for Daniel and Jillain. I loved both of these characters they both made me laugh and smile through.

Daniel had to be my favourite of the two he'd so charismatic and is the only man Jillan can talk to as she's a shy nerd who can't talk to men aside for this hot ghost.

I appreciated the author's approach and the way she crafted the conclusion. There were numerous Star Trek allusions, but as I'm not familiar with or interested in Star Trek, they didn't bother me. This romance seemed to move along very quickly but I loved that about this it definitely a feel good hug in a book. I really enjoyed it.

This was a wonderful paranormal romance, and I was hooked from the beginning. I loved getting to know the characters - Jillian is a bit cringe at times but also very relatable & there are a lot of laughs. Daniel is very likeable, and also very relatable - I loved his cheeky humour. There are a couple of steamy scenes, but they are easy enough to skip if it's not your thing.
I listened to the audiobook of Ghosted - the narrators did an excellent job and really brought the characters to life.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher & the author for an advance audio copy in exchange for an honest review.

I’m not sure where to even start with this one, so let me just say…if you have never heard of this author, PLEASE pick up one of her books! As I went to write this review, I looked her up, and sure enough I also read ‘The Space Between’ and loved that one as well. She has a very different approach to her novels.

First off, you are pulled in right from the get-go!
Next, she writes in planes/parallels…like you feel like maybe you’re living in an alternate universe?? Not sure how to describe it.
And then, there are the phenomenal characters in her books. You are DRAWN to them, and you don’t want to put the book down for a minute!
At least, that’s how I feel…

So, we have Jillian, who is a journalist for a paper in NYC. Her love life is dried up, and she has no prospects in site. But her Mother’s friend Fran, tries to set her up every chance she gets. The only problem? Jillian CANNOT speak to anyone who is male. Yes! And she’s a journalist! 😮😮

She has JUST moved into a small apt in NYC, that was deeply discounted…and she wonders why…

Then we have Daniel. He is a GORGEOUS, shirtless, tanned, spectacle of a guy. And, he is in her apartment! But wait, it gets better! He’s a ghost!!!

The story opens up when the two of them meet in her apt, and she tries to deck him, but the thing she throws at him…goes right T H R U him! But he refuses to believe he is DEAD!

I feel like I read three or four little stories in this one novel.
It was very sweet. It was very sad. It was very emotional. And each and every time, it kept you wanting more…

Oh, and if you are a fan of Star Trek…you will be a fan here too!

I love how the story/stories kept evolving throughout…and just when you couldn’t take one more minute, you are begging for more!

I loved all the characters. I love how she made you feel like you were living right there in the newsroom with all of them! And I just LOVED this story!

5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for me!

Summary: When Jillian moves into her new apartment, she immediately meats Daniel, a ghost who has no idea how he died. Jillian is a writer who specializes in dating and romance, although she is unable to talk to men. Daniel believes if he helps Jillian with her articles, he will be able to move on.

“You’re my light, my fate”

“I think after all this, I just believe in love”

Review: I don't typically gravitate towards paranormal romance and I did not expect to love this book, but I have to say, I was hooked from the first chapter. It was funny, heartwarming, emotional and tragic all at the same time. I did not expect so many twists! While I couldn't relate to either of the two main characters, Jillian and Daniel, I thought they had amazing chemistry and still loved reading their story.

For as long as the book was, the ending was missing something for me. I'm glad there was a HEA, but I felt like the ending was short compared to the rest of the story. I feel it didn't do their love story justice.

I can't wait to read Sarah Ready's other books!

TW: suicide. In my opinion, it is not a huge part of the plot and it is not talked about very much, but it is there in case you are sensitive to the topic.

Jillian has just moved into a new apartment. It's covered and mirrors and may have previously been a sex den, but it's affordable. However, Jillian soon discovers it also comes with a ghost.
Daniel doesn't know how are why he died, or why Jillian is the only one who can see him. But as the two grow closer, they find themselves falling for each other.

Not much more can be said without giving away much of the plot. I admit the first part of the story was seeming a bit cheesy to me, but once the story took a little turn, I was quite into it. Though I got a little annoyed with Daniel close to the end, overall the characters were quite likeable. I enjoyed Jillian going from super shy and awkward to more confident and overcoming some past demons. I really enjoyed the narration and definitely recommend the audio version. This was my first read by this author but I will certainly check out more.

Jillian Nejat can’t seem to catch a break right now. She doesn’t have a cent to her name, her job has taken a massive plunge (which is no surprise considering she writes relationship advice but can’t even talk to men) and her personal dating life has been on a 10 year down hill spiral. In an effort to have a change of pace (and because she couldn’t afford anything else) she moves into a one bedroom apartment in an old rundown building. We say apartment but the floor to ceiling mirrors on every surface, would suggest it’s a sex dungeon. She’s hit bottom… Little does she know, this apartment already had a tenant. If you guessed a sexy, shirtless ghost named Daniel, you’d be right. In an effort to help Daniel move on, he decides to help Jillian get her dating life back on track and save her job. But what happens if you start to fall for the ghost haunting your apartment??
……………………………..
Hands down my favorite read by Ready, so far! The chemistry between Daniel and Jillian was so believable and envy worthy. I loved all the playful banter and just watching their relationship grow. Also a super fan of a main character whose a Star Trek nerd!!! It was cute, action packed, relatable and just so much more than I expected from a lite romcom. This one definitely solidified Readys place on my auto buy author list❤️ Pick this one up, you will not be disappointed!!

This was a DNF for me. I thought the premise would be cute, even if a little out there, but I found it to be too ridiculous to continue. I appreciate the opportunity to try it out.

I was really excited about this cause it's my first ever paranormal romance novel, I liked the idea of it and the dynamic between Jillian and Daniel and the plot twist was unexpected. However, the story was too long, the descriptions were lengthy and even though it was long, the side characters were forgettable, I didn't build a connection to any of them -and I almost always build a connection to a side character-
At some point I was convinced that it's coming to an end but then I saw that I was only 50% done. It was interesting, though. I'm interested in trying another book by the author.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher.

Jillian Nejat is the only dating and relationship expert on the planet who is incapable of speaking to men. With her bank account at zero, her career a dumpster fire, and her dating life in a ten-year slump, she moves into a tiny, dirt-cheap NYC apartment. Unfortunately, the apartment is already occupied by Daniel, a sexy, shirtless, heartthrob who is also…dead. He’s a ghost. He’s also the only man on the planet who Jillian can talk to. Soon, Daniel’s convinced that it’s his afterlife mission to resurrect Jillian’s love life. He knows, if he helps her fall in love then he can move on. Jillian agrees. The last thing she needs is a Lothario ghost haunting her living room. But then, one practice date leads to another, one confession leads to more, and suddenly Jillian fears she’s falling for the one man she can never have.

The first half of this book really bothered me. I tried really hard to like this but a girl falls in love with a ghost? 🥴 And it was like instalove, not like the let-me-get-to-know you kind of love. This girl is incapable of talking to men, like AT ALL, and then a shirtless handsome ghost man comes around and she can talk to him just fine? It REALLY bothered me that Jillian was so incapable of saying even one word to a man. And the reason behind her not talking to men was mediocre at best. Then the second half felt like an entirely different book—suddenly Jillian was able to talk to men no problems and her character gained confidence seemingly out of no where. I found the second half of the book more enjoyable, but not enough to compensate for the cringe of the first half. The writing was good and the audiobook performance was great but the story was just too much for me. Thank you @netgalley for the ARC.

Sarah Ready is such an underrated author! This is my 5th book of hers and I’ve loved them all.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶️🌶️

Jillian is a bit of an imposter - she’s a dating advice columnist, with little to no actual experience.
With every man she meets that has any potential for dating, she’s unable to speak to them.

Until she meets Daniel.

Though he doesn’t really have that potential either - since he’s a ghost.

He’s the only man she CAN talk to, and they start to think maybe he’s there to help her with her love life, and also her failing career.

This book had me laughing & sobbing. I was so drawn in to these 2 characters and their stories, together and apart. I was rooting for their happily ever after, and wondering how they were going to get there.

I also really enjoyed the audiobook - Sarah always has the best narrators!

What you’ll find in Ghosted:
⭐️ Paranormal romance/sci fi
⭐️ Forced proximity
⭐️ Opposites attract
⭐️ Soulmates
⭐️ Insta-love
⭐️ Dating coach
⭐️ Geeky heroine (Trekkie)
⭐️ Amazing side characters
⭐️ Romcom with heart 💜
⭐️ Single POV/first person

Thank you to NetGalley, W. W. Crown and author Sarah Ready for advanced ebook, audiobook & a gifted paperback copy. All opinions are my own.

Listened on audio- narrator was great!

So the premise is we have a virginal nerd who can’t even speak to men despite an unbelievable amount of attempts. She moved into an apartment and meets a ghost that she CAN talk to and he helps her in her dating life. There’s like three other books in here, too. That’s just kinda where we start.

Running commentary in order of experiencing big feelings:

She just like instantly trusts this guy and tbh, me too. I adore her ghost from jump. Maybe that transition might be weird for someone else but I just adore him. I adore that she’s able to be vulnerable to him and their interactions feel so cozy and intimate.

You know what I don’t love- the conversations surrounding the “make love” thing. THAT felt icky. The whole interaction was described so well, you could understand what was happening but the conversation after was cringe af. The amount of times they’ve said “made love” is making me gag. Worse? The phrase “touches me with his soul” was almost a DNF. (Do I have intimacy issues or is it just weird? Up to interpretation, I guess)

Anywho, it was worth it for The Met. I’m not giving any spoilers but that sped my heart up….and then we get weird again. Stalking is a crime, friend. You sound *insane*

Not a damn thing happens after this that I actually expected. Storyline actually got really fun.

Nobody speaks about love this way. Nobody is repeatedly speaking of love the way this author does. It moved into teenage girl, freshman year diary territory at one point. It is incredibly hard to listen to and feels really disconnected. We have spent this whole time in her head so hearing him speak just like her during these declarations snapped me out of the story.

They spent a lot of time separated and BAM everything was fixed. I’m happy there’s a happy ending but a little less time in despair and a little more of the anticipation/build up in repair, for the readers. I feel like we’ve dropped the entire personality you get pieces of in the beginning of the book at this point, too. There’s something missing here.

The extended epilogue left me with warm fuzzies. This was a fun read despite some issues but the extended epilogue was so fun. All in all, this was a cute read but I won’t be dropping this title into group chat.

Thank you Netgalley!

Ghosted is a fun paranormal romance with an actually unique premise, I was shocked by the twists and I could not guess the reveals. Some things I didn't enjoy was it felt like a very long book and at parts did drag, I felt like it could have been shorter; I also didn't really enjoy the abundance of star trek references although I know that was a big part of Jillian's personality. However I really loved her character and thought she was very unique compared to most romance heroines and their love story was so sweet and cute you couldn't help but root for them. I do recommend this book and will check out more by this author I'd just warn people that some parts to drag slightly.

REVIEW
cw: anxiety, brief mention of suicide, grief, death, trauma
Dating and relationship expert Jillian has one major problem. She quite literally cannot speak to men. But when she moves into her tiny New York apartment she discovers it's already occupied. By a hot, shirtless man. And yet she can actually speak to him! There's only one problem. He's a ghost. And now Daniel is on a mission to resurrect Jillian's love life, hoping it will help him move on. But what happens when she starts to fall for the one man she can't have?
This book. This. Book..! Wow! What a truly heartachingly beautiful, emotional rollercoaster. Sarah Ready excels at writing physical comedy and there are so many scenes that I snorted laughing, and could imagine watching them in a movie. But she's also a maestra at writing seriously complex moments with hugely impactful and deeply moving resonance, and they are in abundance here. Jillian was such an interesting character, with incredible emotional depth. I adored her development and, I love a geeky FMC, so the first meeting between her and Daniel was truly hilarious (and ultimately poignant). I need to be very careful not to spoil anything because this book kept me guessing throughout. All I will say about Daniel is that I ADORED every single thing about him, and his connection with Jillian was so incredibly moving, but also swoon-worthy. The final chapters were so emotionally impactful that I couldn't stop sobbing, and the epilogues were everything I hoped for. And somehow more... (especially the second one). There are also some wonderful supporting characters. I loved Serena, Jillian's best friend, and I desperately need to know more about her and her supervisor 😉 I also loved Fran, and Jillian's co-workers were hilarious and yet strangely endearing, especially Hayley and Bernardo. I also adored the Easter eggs (IYKYK).
Sarah Ready has very quickly become my favourite author for complex, emotional romance, and I absolutely ADORED this book.

If you can, definitely listen along to the audiobook because it only elevates this exquisite story. Both Sarah Naughton and Rob Brinkman were outstanding.

Favourite Quotes:

“Jilly, are you into fucucking?” She glares at the mirrors, “What is that? A cult?”

“What about holy water, or burning sage, or sprinkling herbs, would any of that work? To help him move on?”
Daniel gives me a hurt look, as if he can’t believe I’m even suggesting this. “Really, Jillian? Really?”
“No,” Zelda says, “he’s a ghost, not a ham..."

I always wondered what he would feel like, and now I know, he feels like holding starlight in my hands.

Be yourself, and the one who is meant to love you will see you and love you exactly as you are.

This is a paranormal romance that kept me guessing and intrigued throughout.

We follow Jillian after she surprisingly finds a shirtless man in her new apartment. It turns out he is Daniel - a ghost intent on helping her career. But, can Jillian help Daniel as well and what does it mean to be attracted to a ghost?

I laughed and shrieked and swooned while duo listening and reading to this story unfold.

This was quirky but sweet at is core!

Ghosted is not at all what I expected, and that was probably the best part of the whole book. When I started the book, I thought I had the plot all figured out, but as things started to be revealed… I was totally wrong! It was refreshing, even if it did require some suspend disbelief (although for the record I am not a physicist).

One thing I didn’t really care for were all the Star Trek references. I’m sure fans of Star Trek will enjoy seeing it, but pretty much all of the jokes/references were lost on me. And this occurred pretty frequently. I also felt like the romance and chemistry were really rushed at the beginning. This does kind of even out towards the end, but it was very distracting and unbelievable at times. Because of this, the second half of the book was way more enjoyable.

Again every reveal about Daniel was a twist for me that I did not expect. The drama for the second half of the book was fun, and it all unraveled nicely into something that made sense. I’m not normally into these types of romances, but this was pretty funny at times and was a nice distraction. I’ll definitely check out any other books by this author.

I also listened to the audiobook for this, and the narration was good and easy to follow!

Jillian is a broke relationship columnist at the brink of losing her job, and so she makes best of her newest situation: her insanely cheap but creepy, mirror-filled apartment. To add to its charms is David, a topless ghost who decides his unfinished business is to help her save her job and finally find the love of her life. Freaked out but unable to shake him off, she finally humours him with a danger of falling for him instead.

This is the second book I've read of Ready's and I say she has a knack for romcom. I like this book overall, mostly for the plot twists, and the way she executes them. It just kept me wondering how and/or where things are going, which is always a huge thing for me because I'm refrained from predicting the next plotpoint, and instead just enjoyed the ride.

I'm not a horror person at all, and I was nervous it was going to be too much suspense or jumpscare here but when you get into it, Ready reminds you: it's romcom. And it's just fun to see where she took it.

There have been parts I didn't fully get into, and parts where it was falling flat and dragging, but just then a plot twist came up and we were back in the game. I'm in two minds as to how to rate this, but I feel like I'm settled with 3⭐️s.

The characters are overall okay. The mains have some banter but I guess I just needed more. There is an element of found-family which turned out to be endearing, plus a second couple who might be a small part but is cute and rom-com-y in a good way.

I love that there is a sci-fi element to it, that she didn't leave it just to the paranormal, and I love that the second epilogue exists. I don't know anything about Star Trek, but I love that the FMC is fan-girl passionate about something. And I love how she played with "Ghosted" in the plot.

This book is out on 26th September 2023. Interesting romcom in time for Halloween.

Sarah Ready sure knows how to rip your heart out with star crossed love stories and put it back together in the most satisfying ways!! I LOVED her last book, The Space between so, so much and was shocked to learn she had this one publishing so soon after that.

Highly recommended if you enjoyed Ashley Poston's The dead romantics or The seven year slip, this book is a unique mash up of both those, that sees, relationship advice columnist Jillian moving into a new apartment only to be confronted with Daniel, a shirtless ghost only she can see.

Daniel is sure helping Jillian is the key to him being able to move on. Unable to remember anything about his past Jillian helps Daniel learn who he was while he helps her with her job and dating woes as a nerdy Trekkie who has a hard time talking to men, making her a terrible dating expert.

Emotional and full of depth, this was great on audio and a terrific slow burn. If you like Nora Ephron movies and stories with a touch of magical realism, this is the perfect read for you. Many thanks to NetGalley and the author for early digital and audio copies in exchange for my honest review!
