Wow! What a rollercoaster of emotions!
As soon as this started, I knew that I was going to love this book!
I'm not sure whether it was the characters, the storyline, the humour or those pesky nostalgic feelings I got every time there was a Star Trek reference! But this book had everything!
As the title suggests, when we meet Gillian, she's just moved into a new (strange) apartment in New York and discovers that it's haunted by a ghost.
As she comes to terms with this and they get talking, they realise that they're there to help each other and their friendship starts to develop.
I loved that Gillian was different. Not your confident, sassy leading female character, but a little quirky, geeky and shy - so shy in fact that she can't even talk to men.
When this storyline develops and we discover why, I felt so sorry for her.
I equally loved all the side characters - all of Gillian's work colleagues - what an odd bunch - but they all played their parts perfectly and helped the different storylines flow together.
Daniel was such a great character to explore too. I can't even really say much about him as I'm definitely not giving any spoilers away!!
This also applies to the storyline - I can't really say any more than I have done - but I assure you that it's amazing! There are twists all the way through, even to the last chapter and they're literally genius! I was totally not expecting anything that was happening! Just brilliant!
The writing style was really easy to read and written from Gillian's pov throughout, we really got to connect with her. It was like having a conversation with a friend - which also meant that you felt every emotion along with her.
The descriptive writing was amazing, not only were you transported to their world, you got to experience the sights, sounds, smells and tastes along with them too!
I have to mention the Star Trek references! When we were younger, it was mine and my husband's thing, to get a takeaway on a Sunday evening and enjoy it in front of the TV watching Star Trek. We'd seen them all!
Nowadays, I totally deny it and roll my eyes when my boys want to watch the new episodes!
When I got to the first reference in this book, I rolled my eyes - but by the end, every single reference made me smile a little and remember those happy times 😁 (🤫 don't tell my boys!)
A great read which I honestly couldn't put down - I read far too late into the night towards the end as I just had to know what was going to happen. A solutely loved this and will definitely be keen to read more by this author!
**I also listened to this as an audio book and think that the narrator was just perfect.
I really got the feeling that Gillian was there chatting away to me and they easily conveyed all the emotion and excitement of the storyline.
A real joy to listen along to**
💕Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for my ARC copy - this is my honest review 💕

"What does it mean to have a ghost as a friend?"
Ghosted had me hooked immediately. I absolutely loved how charismatic of a character Daniel was, I fell for him right away. There were many ups and downs throughout the book which only makes the ending more satisfying.
As someone who has never watched Star Trek, there were a few too many references, especially in the beginning, but they seemed to town down fairly quickly.
Thank you to NetGalley, Sarah Ready, and W.W. Crown Books for a digital arc of Ghosted.
Jillian’s life is falling apart. She is a relationship columnist who finds herself having a hard time speaking to men. Her new apartment is tiny and possibly haunted.
Ghosted is a stand-alone paranormal romance. While this is a romance there is a lot of focus on Jillian and her journey. Her grief over events of her past play a large role in the plot. I appreciate that the author shows the FMCs healing process and that it isn't just smoothed over now that she has found love.
I have read almost all of Sarah Ready’s books and I still wasn’t prepared for this one. This is something so different from her usual work but I absolutely loved it. I found the storyline to be quite unique. Every time I thought I knew where the plot was going another twist popped up.
I started reading this one as an ebook and ended up switching to the audio. I really enjoyed the narrators. Sarah Naughton and Rob Brinkman both did an excellent job with their respective characters.
With so many exceptional releases this year, I can’t wait to see what Sarah Ready has next for her readers.
I voluntarily read, listened to, and reviewed advanced copies of this book and audiobook. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to NetGalley and W.W. Crown (IBPA)!
The promise of this book was very interesting and I can tell you that it was definitely great!! Such a good book OMG
A really great and fun read although sad in places. I loved the characters and the story. Will look out for more from this author.
Ghosted by Sarah Ready is a captivating love story that encompasses a range of emotions - from bittersweet to hopeful, and from confusion to heartwarming relatability. Reading this novel was an absolute delight.
I found myself completely engrossed in the story, unable to put it down. I devoured its pages late into the night and continued my reading marathon in another session, eager to uncover the fate of the characters.
The author skillfully weaves together a tale that is both intriguing and relatable. The moments shared between the characters are filled with warmth and authenticity, making it easy for readers to connect with their experiences.
Furthermore, Ready's writing style is impeccable, effortlessly guiding the reader through the narrative. Her attention to detail and ability to create vivid imagery brings the story to life, making it a truly immersive reading experience.
Oh man, what a rollercoaster of emotions. Jillian and Daniel have my heart. Another fave by Sarah! My heart broke for Jillian when Daniel ghost disappeared and then she saw him alive but he didn’t remember her. But then when he saw her in Geneva and he finally remembers her and everything they did when he was a ghost. Oh did my heart melt for them. I loved the second epilogue where we get Danielle pov of the events that occurred before he became a ghost and first meet him at the beginning of the book.
I enjoyed the premise of the story and was invested immediately. I haven't read many stories like this so I was surprised by how interested I was. It was funny, heartwarming, and touching. Jillian and Daniel's banter and chemistry were fun to read and I loved the overall message of love bringing them together.
My biggest critiques for the book have to do with editing and pacing. It felt long-winded at times and rushed in some parts then slow in others. I skimmed descriptive parts more than usual just so I could get to the action, but once there, I was pulled in. There's a lot of suspension of disbelief that needs to happen to really buy into the story, but I was willing to do that to know what happened.
While it could've been refined, I still thoroughly enjoyed this book and am interested in reading the author's other books. It was unique to my usual reads and I enjoyed its quirkiness.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you Netgalley and W.W. Crown publishing for this eARC. This is the first book I’ve read by Sarah Ready. Looking forward to reading more books by her in the future. This was an enjoyable , fun rom-com! Loved the premise & the characters.
I'd like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for allowing a me a chance at reading this.
I think I'm difficult to please. This romance was written poorly. The overabundance in Star Trek references. The insta love between the ghost and the female lead. The lack of a substantial plot. I started reading it, but then the writing was even poor. Honestly, I skimmed the entire book.
When you have a book that revolves around a ghost who is in love with a female, you really wanna see some build up. With his backstory as being a bit of a playboy and sexual deviant, you'd think that would deter her? No. It didn't.
It couldn't have been better, but it truly was not for me. If the above doesn't deter you then you won' have a issue with the book.
Just me casually going to read the authors entire backlist now. Exactly what I want in a story. A sweeping romance with some paranormal elements. Perfection in a book!
thanks netgalley for the arc!
this book was definitely out of my comfort zone, so maybe that's why i found it very middle of the road. paranormal plots aren't typically my bag, but i thought the premise was interesting and, based on other reviews, people liked it.
i found the writing to be a little clunky at times and really struggled to read this in long spells, it took much longer than i typically would to get through it and i don't think that that's indicative of the plot or my interest, but definitely the writing style.
it was a perfectly fine book in terms of the plot, and i appreciate the attempt to do something a little less predictable than the ghost character comes back to life or the alive main character dies or something. parts of the story were funny and engaging, but things got a little murky with the side characters sometimes.
overall, this might be a great book if you are easily invested in paranormal/ghost books, but for me it wasn't super convincing.
Wow. I could not, would not put this book down … There are so many twists and turns to this story
Very nice book
What a surprisingly endearing romance! This story was much more sentimental than expected, and the romantic aspects were genuine in a way that I really appreciated. I found myself genuinely surprised by the twist of the story, an aspect that I also thoroughly enjoyed.
My one negative is that the idea that a woman can't speak to any man at all is not incredibly realistic, and I don't love the "I wasn't capable of fully formed until I met you", however luckily Ready veers away from this trope in the third act. Overall I found it to be a clever and sweet paranormal romance for fans of the genre!
Ghosted is a lovely, entertaining, surprising, and incredibly romantic story.
Jillian Nejat is a writer for the dating advice column for The Exposé. Ironically, Jillian has a hard time dating herself because, well, she can't talk to men. Literally. She's just moved to an apartment that looks like the set of a porno movie (hey, it's NYC, you're lucky to get an apartment that is not the size of a broom closet for a decent price). And her apartment comes with a... ghost! Daniel. A gorgeous, shirtless man that she can (WTH?!) talk to. After the initial shock, Jillian and Daniel have to learn to live with each other and figure out what they can do so that he can "move towards the light". Too bad neither one wants it to happen...
What a lovely, romantic story that has so many twists and turns that it will keep you guessing until the end!
It's full of Star Trek references (my trekkie heart was full!), the side characters are fun and interesting and the story is utterly romantic!
Forget the other "ghost in the apartment" stories you know because this is a brand new take on the "I'll always find you" and it's so so swoony! Yes, you can have an HEA with a ghost! Trust me!
Narration: Told entirely through Jillian's POV, this is basically solo narration by Sarah Naughton, who's new to me. She does a phenomenal job carrying the story. There is a little cherry on the top with the second epilogue narrated in Daniel's POV by Rob Brinkman, who proves to us that Daniel is indeed to die for.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thanks to Sarah Ready and NetGalley for the advanced copies of the book and audiobook.
4/5 ☆ !!!
Thank you W.W Crown, IBPA and Netgalley for an ARC of ‘Ghosted’ by Sarah Ready in exchange for my honest review
If you loved ‘The Dead Romantics’ you’ll absolutely love this book. ‘Ghosted’ is a paranormal romance/ YA novel about ‘Daniel’ our ghost who shows up in ‘Jillian’s’ (the mc) new apartment out of the blue.
Jillian is an awkward, shy individual who is unable to speak to any male species besides our ghost Daniel. Throughout the novel, we see their friendship evolve. Jillian helping Daniel figure out his past and how he died, and Daniel helping Jillian with her failing romance column and inability to speak to men. Daniel is adamant that he has met Jillian before despite her having no idea who she is. Daniel is the perfect golden retriever boyfriend - he is so sweet, protective and just an overall sunshine.
I really liked the twist on their romance. I fully expected Daniel to be in a coma and didn’t expect what happened despite me being a bit confused.
Overall, I had a great time reading this book and can’t wait to read some more of Sarah Ready’s work. ‘Ghosted’ will be available to read and purchase on 26th Sept 2023!
I wasn't quite sure what to expect with this one, a painfully shy trekkie girl and a bare-chested adonis of a ghost. I did invest in the story and enjoyed the paranormal premise more than expected. I could actually see this being made in to a movie. Enjoyable and extraordinary, with thanks to netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
This book was different then I thought it was going to turn out. It was great. It had paranormal and fantasy leanings. I was not expecting it the plot twist that happened when I thought I had it figured out. I love a good plot twist. It really makes a story stick with me. I loved the connection between Jillian and Daniel that spanned space and time. I love different stories that aren't predictable. There are so many predictable romances, but this one was not one of them. I think this is my new favorite Sarah Ready book.
The premise of this story is interesting, and for the most part this is an enjoyable read. However, I felt the balance between the relationship with ghost Daniel and real Daniel was weighted too much on ghost Daniel and at times the story did drag. I also felt the 'not able to talk to any male whatsoever' aspect to the story was weird - It would be more believable if she was just awkward and incredibly shy; but then after she gets over this ptsd type reaction, she is becomes a weird stalker! The story and pace definitely pick up for the final 40% , which is the better part of the story; and had the first half been a bit shorter and snappier, it would have made a much better read overall. Thanks to NetGallery and W.W. Crown, Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), for allowing me to get a copy of the book, which is out on September 26, 2023.
This is one of the first e-books I was lucky to receive in an ARC copy from NetGallery in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Netgallery! ^_^
I loved it very much!
When I read the blurb of this book the movie Just Like Heaven (2005) with Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo in the main roles came to mind. Only here the line-up is reversed. :D For those who liked this movie, I highly recommend Ghosted!
Jillian is a dating and relationship expert column writer for The Daily Exposé. But it is in vain that she gives advice to others, while she herself is unable to engage in conversation with any man. On the day of her move-in to her new apartment, an insanely handsome and shirtless guy appears out of nowhere... There is one problem though: The door and the windows are locked, so he couldn't get in anywhere...
Daniel suddenly finds himself in Jillian's apartment. He doesn't remember anything from his past, not even his last name. He discovers that he thinks he should help her get her career and love life back on track and this way he might find peace and could move on.
Serena is Jillian's friend, who supports her in everything, even when she reports some pretty hair-raising things... I loved her humor!
The Daily Exposé team was also friendly, it seemed that they could work well together.
It was exciting till the end highly recommend it!
I would love to see this story in the form of a movie!
