A story about family, friendship, grief a d life. Set in the ski resort backdrop. Three female friends exploring the different hands that life have dealt them all.
An emotional and engaging story about family, friendship, grief and relationships explored in a glamorous ski resort location. Three female friends are the core characters; they are long-term friends, and one has suffered an unimaginable loss. The ski holiday is to keep her safe during the emotionally charged festive week. Although Clara is bereaved, Tania and Rose have emotional issues in their superficially perfect lives. Other notable characters are Madeline and Tom. Tania finds a gentle romance with Gull, balancing the emotional angst, but nothing is simple in their lives. Despite the emotion, this is an entertaining read. Believable characters and relationship dynamics immerse the reader in the characters' lives and draw their empathy. I like the ski resort setting, the varied characters and the tangle of emotional conflicts that need to be solved in this story.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
A Christmas tale set in a snowy Alpine lodge complete with lovely food and hot chocolate. Deeper themes are addressed, love and loss, friendship and sibling rivalry are all explored. Not your typical Christmas romance but an enjoyable read.
Starlight at Snow Pine Lodge by Rachel Barnett is an emotional journey about love, self-discovery and the power of friendship.
“Three friends. One Christmas escape. A week that will see their lives changed forever...”
Starlight at Snow Pine Lodge by Rachel Barnett was another pure escapism for me!
The writing style described the setting beautifully. I was transported to the gorgeous place called Snow Pine Lodge. And I enjoyed every minute of it.
Clara, Rose and Tania were such a delight.
The characters are well rounded and believable and I loved their relationship… caring, close, flawed and all. I enjoyed watching them come together and grow.
A new festive novel from Barnett about finding yourself, love and friendship.
Wise and warm, a compelling story of female friendships!

I loved this book. I really connected to the characters and the story was brilliant, I loved everything about it. Huge 5 stars.
I loved the title of this book and hoped it would as good as it sounded. In fact, it was amazing. A lovely, cosy read for those autumn nights. Thank you for the ARC.
Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
Tania, Rose and Miranda make a decision to take their friend Clara to Snow Pine lodge.
Clara is grieving, she, not long ago, lost her husband and daughter following a car accident. Two of her friends think getting away for a Christmas break will somehow help her.
On their arrival at the lodge, they are met by Chef Tom, along with another guest, Lysander, who is Tania’s have brother.
Tania is the daughter of a famous American actor and is lying low, from the press as she had an affair with a married man. She meets Gill in a bar the girls visit, at first she doesn’t like him, but gradually, her thoughts about him begin to change.
The story was about starting new relationships.
I loved the setting of the story.
I recommend this book.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Face value this book was great. It wasn’t a typical sickeningly romantic Christmas book. It had trauma and heartache whilst still set in a picturesque location with the cliche friendship group, there for each other. So why do I only feel I can give this 3.5 out of 5 stars?? Something was just lacking for me with the characters. There was only really Madeleine and Carla who had anything of substance and depth. The storyline has everything needed for a wintery romance - love at first sight, annoying family, death, and even sexuality is discussed but it all could have just been developed further and given so much more depth. An easy read and a good one if you want something a little less Christmas cliche but not quite making me feel all the Christmas spirit yet!
Christmas spent in a luxury, fully catered lodge, surrounded by fabulous snowy views. It should be a wonderful holiday but below the surface the friends have life changing decisions to resolve. A recommended read.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A really enjoyable read - amazing sounding scenery and lodge and a great group of girls who have a wonderful and authentic friendship. This book was well written and touched on several emotionally charged topics in a sympathetic and realistic way. I highly recommend it
I was drawn to this story about friendship and snow but was completely amazed by the elegant prose. It’s no surprise that the writing is romantic and the story charming, with a mix of glamour (Tania), awe (the Alps) and heat (Gull), but it was the cleverness of the characters and their connection to each other that brought this adventure to life.
It’s Christmas so there’s plenty of snow, hot chocolate, good food and frisson in the air. This is a great story about friendship – through tragedy, drama, self-growth and love – and not in the least the unexpected ending. Most definitely a feel-good tale for Christmas.
I highly recommend Starlight at Snow Pine Lodge by Rachel Barnett for a cosy, comforting Christmas read.
This Christmas romance breaks away from the usual festive tales, exploring themes of loss, grief, and public scandal. Set against the backdrop of a French Alps chalet, Tania, Clara, Rose and Madeline have come away to escape their personal challenges.
While the characters are well-developed and interesting I found it hard to get into, there was a lot going on, maybe a bit too much for me.
Nevertheless, it's an emotionally charged journey with great female friendship.
Thank you to NetGalley and Embla Books for providing me with the ARC.
Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.
Three friends, Clara, Tania and Rose are escaping to Snow Pine Lodge for Christmas.
Tania is there following a scandal that has gone too far and is trying to hide from the cameras.
Clara is hoping the trip will help her get over a tragedy and get back in her feet.
Rose is the one they call on and puts Tania and Clare before herself.
They are expecting a relaxing break but that is far from what they experience with a snow storm, uninvited guests and secrets of the past being revealed.
Lovely Christmas story set in the French alps about 4 friends who go on a skiing holiday who all have secrets. Loved the characters and their individual stories and the scenery sounded lovely and so inviting and makes you feel all festive.
Would recommend to anyone who likes a good Christmas story with intrigue thrown in.
Thanks to NetGalley & Embla Books for a ARC for a honest review.
Christmas, friendship, life changing moments. I love a book that like this and I can say this one certainly didn't disappoint. The friendship between Clara, Rose and Tania is one we can all relate to. I love the emotion and love in this book and I really enjoyed learning about each character and their friendship.
Love the setting of course as it is a Christmas theme, love the characters as the are so real, love the story as it is has depth and interest. It is a great holiday read, flows well, well written and heart-warming too.
Thank you NetGalley and Embla Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
A beautiful setting for this festive story. I liked the characters, as flawed as they were and enjoyed the exploration of friendship, family and how our experiences shape our lives.
Christmas in the French alps, loved this setting. very sweet story, It was nice reading a Christmas story in the middle of summer.
A wonderful read the setting the characters each with their own issues.I was so involved I hated to put the book down Rachel Barnett is anew author to me looking forward to reading more by her. #netgalley #embla
This is an original festive Christmas novel with a darker side that made it more interesting.
It's heartwarming and festive but also poignant and I like the mix that works.
Compelling plot, well developed and liked characters
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine
The title of this book drew me to it, Starlight at Snow Point Lodge, what girl wouldn't want to experience that!
It is as the title suggests set in in the Alps with 4 girls staying together for a nostalgic ski trip in a beautiful Lodge. Lots of emotions that each of the girls are experiencing come out during the ski trip, sadness, grief and also some romance. This root of this book is about true friendship, I absolutely loved it and each of the characters in it, each one different and dealing with their own insecurities, but all so likeable.
