This was one of those stories that has a slow burn and suddenly you’re half way through desperate to know more. I’ve rounded up to 5 stars as I think the characters are well written and real. Look forward to more by this writer.
A twisty and suspenseful thriller that keeps you guessing until the very end, with complex characters and a gripping narrative
This is a chilling read, a therapist/patient relationship is fraught with boundaries, what happens when these are exploited?! A short read, it’s pacy and edgy; I really enjoyed it.
Well written and relatable-can’t help but put yourself in the shoes of the Meg and Marc who have suffered a terrible tragedy.
The characters are well considered and I love a good psychological thriller, I couldn’t put it down.
This sent chills through me as I read it A therapist becomes obsessed with the couple she is counseling. That right there is the start of a scary and twisty ride.
I finished this in just over 24 hours. It was amazing and so easy to follow and delve into. Those final 50 or so pages were amazing and that final twist had me gasping out loud. Amazing character development and pace
This started off well, it seemed quite interesting then half way through it changed and it all became unbelievable and I could not wait to finish it.
I have enjoyed Mel's other books but this one didnt grab me Im afraid and I didnt finish it. i can only give it 2 stars for that reason.
Not really sure about this book, I didn't like any of the characters and at times the story seemed a bit far fetched. There was a few twists and turns, but I think mainly it was predictable, especially Janette's character and what she was up to.
Thanks for my advance copy.
Sorry for me this is a diff not finish I didn’t really get with the character’s and at 47% I gave up. I won’t review publicly any book I was unable to finish
I really enjoyed this book. After the devastating loss of their daughter in a hit and run collision Meg and Marc turn to a grief counsellor, Janette for support. When they decide to move to a village where no one knows them for a fresh start, they are surprised and delighted to bump in to Janette who says she is looking for a retirement place. Soon she becomes a fixture in their lives, gradually taking over and making them question themselves. This is a real page turner that will keep you on the edge of your seat to the end.
Thanks to NetGalley for a preview copy.
Copied to Goodreads.
Utterly brilliant- I thoroughly enjoyed the thrills and spills of this excellent book. Murdered & missing children, a story from the past overlapping one of the present. Deliberate confusion and gaslighting. Good characters - some to like & some to dislike intensely. I held my breath right up until the satisfying conclusion.
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I thought this started off really well - a hugely impactful incident throws you right into the action and, from there, you start to get to know the main characters and the aftermath of what happened.
This good start lasted until about half way in when, for me, it became a little implausible for me, with far too many coincidences and tenuous links. The writing quality didn't lessen, it just became a little hard to believe - even in the realms of fiction where you do have to suspend a bit of reality. I wanted to like this a lot more than I did in the end, but I did enjoy the author's characterisation and use of language so will give any other books a good go.
Quite a difficult read this one as it describes losing a child which is always hard to follow. I enjoyed this thriller very much and couldn't put it down. My thanks to netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
When you lose a Child in tragic circumstances you will turn to anyone who offers kindness and support..
When Met and Marc's daughter is killed in a tragic accident their whole world is turned upside down. Moving to the house left to them by Marc's father seems the best option for them to try and start anew and they are pleasantly surprised to find their therapist Janette has moved too and eventually takes up residence in their garden annex. Coincidence or planned? The plot thickens and when Meg begins to investigate the mystery of a missing child from the village years ago, she opens a can of worms.
Quite a slow moving story which got a bit frustrating at times but still a good read
After losing their daughter Meg and Marc decide to start a new life elsewhere after inheriting a cottage.
Shortly after they move, their old therapist appears in the village, looking for somewhere to live. Meg and Marc are happy to offer her the studio at their cottage.
Both Meg and Marc are weak and easily led. Jeanette is very manipulative and becomes too involved. Is she really there by coincidence or is there something more sinister at play.
I became increasingly frustrated at the main characters, annoyed by their behaviour and how they were manipulated so easily. I felt I didn’t engage with them as well as I could and therefore I didn’t really feel much towards them
This is the 1st book I’ve read by this author and I am keen to discover more.
Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book
Well written and tense! It sets a perfectly dark, creepy and unsettling atmosphere. I did not see the twists coming and was kept guessing throughout. The characters were realistic and credible and the whole thing was just a little to vividly written to not have the hairs on your arms standing up at times. The perfect read for these dark, creepy nights
Tell me Your Secrets is about a couple, Marc and Meg, who have suffered a traumatic loss when their daughter is run over and fatally injured. Over time, they come to rely on Janette, their psychotherapist, for her unwavering support as they slowly try to put their lives back together.
However, their relationship is not what it once was and things begin to go very wrong for them when they move out of London to live in the countryside. As they work on trying to settle into the new community, Janette renters their lives and things go from bad to worse.
This is a well written, tense psychological thriller that kept me guessing throughout. The characters are credible and the plot is strong. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a gripping read.
My thanks to the author, the publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review the book.
Tell Me Your Secrets is a twisty psychological thriller that kept me hooked.
Meg and Mark are moving to Marks fathers house that he has been left in his fathers will. It’s a small village and they hope because they know no one they can rebuild their lives after the tragic loss of their young daughter. Both are struggling but separately and by a strange coincidence their therapist they had in London moves into their lives more than they thought she would. Mark is struggling with anger management issues and gets into trouble with the police and loses his job and Meg is obsessed with finding out what happened to a young girl that went missing years ago from the village.
There is a lot going on in this book but it is written well so you don’t get confused, I do have to say the first third was really slow going for me but then it changed into a pacy thriller and was a different book completely that I enjoyed.
I would like to thank Netgalley and HQ for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.
