A nice way to illustrate the need for collective action with children. Since it's highly symbolic of a complex issue it's probably better for older kids than for the very young.

This was an adorable read! A cute concept that has a sweet wholesome lesson behind it. Visually stunning, children will be engaged by the images and the writing.

A suitable companion for “The Lorax.” A city full of animals notices that the water is rising. For some, like the giraffes, it’s no problem, just some wet toes. For others, like mice, it’s a calamity! Something must be done! But nothing is done until EVERYONE is affected.

This is a good opener for discussions on how climate change is not just an environmental issue, but a class issue. Not everyone will feel the effects, at first, and it can be so easy to ignore the smallest among us. And, by the time it effects everyone, it could very well be too late.

My kid liked this one, though not enough to ask for a repeat. No interruptions from her, though! And that’s a rare thing. This is a quick, but impactful read.

This book is about a city where water just keeps getting taller and taller and everybody ignores it until the point they can’t. In this case everybody happens to be animals. But one person or one otter knew what to do. After convincing the rest of the animals of what to do, they did it, and while the water receded things were not the same. The just knew whatever challenge appeared teamwork would help with whatever was needed. This book is beautifully illustrated but it’s a hard story. You’re expecting it to be an environmental story or an allegory and then it’s just about working together. It’s odd. It’s not bad, it’s just odd.

At first the water is not such a big deal. It's not much of a problem for the city dwellers (who all happen to be animals) to slosh through a few inches of water. But as the days go by, the water continues to rise, and suddenly . . . it's a VERY BIG DEAL.

This clever children's book offers an answer to many of the problems facing our world, and it's simply that we ALL need to work together. And, the author's cute illustrations remind us of the plight faced by animals due to global warming.

The solution is up to us.

The story is about a city which slowly floods, all the animals don’t seem too concerned about it apart from one animal.

As the days go on, more water floods the city, initially it doesn’t affect the animals daily lives but then it starts to.

When everything is underwater all the animals realise they must work together to find a solution.

Beautiful illustrations throughout.

A wonderful way to teach how a community 's problem can be solved if all worked together to fix it.
I absolutely loved how the illustrator used animals (depicted as humans) are  involved in serious problems ( 6 the problems that occur in our community). However, the illustrations can confuse the little children, but this can be helped with guided reading with a teacher or parent.
Absolutely loved the comments that each character makes -its funny yet serious. 
The author has done a good job educating the serious message in a children's book. Ideal book for both adults and children.

This is a funny and beautifully illustrated book. It focuses on how the animals living in a city ignore the flooding. This allows great discussion about how we sometimes ignore our fears. Great message that with teamwork and a strong community we can overcome.

Read this book with my daughters and we really enjoyed it. Really highlighted the benefits of working together with others regardless of differences. Explores the theme of social equity with some lovely illustrations.

The story started out simple and clearly showed how one small problem could fester and get bigger and bigger as it continues. Sometimes it only takes one strong voice to bring attention to it and solve the problem and make a difference. My kids (6 and 8) enjoyed the over all story and we had a nice discussion on how small problems and solving them can solve a bigger issue in the end. The pictures were simple, but drove the point home.

Cute little children's book. I loved the illustrations and the concept is cute. I feel like the pacing was a bit weird, I know children's books are very fast paced but this one was taking its time in the beggining in a very interesting and cute way, but then all of the sudden just ends. And the ending is not super clear, honestly I don't know how I would explain it to a child. It just feels like it accidentally missed a couple of pages.

Great book that teaches the lesson of listening to others and working together. Told through a easy to undertake world of animals and a flood. My five year enjoyed the animals with jars on their head.

What an odd book. It is a beautifully illustrated children's picture book, but the message is awfully subtle for a small child. I get the whole cooperation, "it takes a village" message, but it wasn't delivered very succinctly. For instance, we know there's a little guy who's trying to get his message across, since he knows from the beginning what the problem is. But what we don't know, even after finishing the book, is how a little guy gets himself heard and how he can be the change everyone needs. The problem just is, period.

I guess what I really wanted was some hope from the book. Instead it was just kind of scattered.

s well, the printing of the words was very thin, and my digital copy was difficult to read, as the print got kind of broken on my laptop screen. I had to keep enlarging to get the definition to the letters added. I sure hope this is not the case with the printed edition, because you can't size that up.

An adorable and timely allegory about what climate change is doing to our earth and how it effects people differently and therefor their perception of the problem. I loved the illustrations and how this issue was rendered so easily understood for children with a bit of dark humour for the adult reading it. I'll probably buy this one for my kids.

It’s an odd thing; one day the animals wake up to find their city just a little bit…wet. It’s a curiosity, a conversation starter, a change in the routine. No one thinks too much of it at first, but the water continues to rise causing bigger and bigger problems for the smaller animals. The large animals continue to ignore the water until it’s finally too high to ignore anymore. Finally, the animals start to listen to the voice of reason and work together to figure out how to rid their city of all the water that’s flooded their lives.

I loved this book. I loved the black and white illustrations with just a touch of yellow and a whole lot of blue. I loved the message that feels so relevant today for so many problems in our world. I loved the humor and the ambiguity, but most of all I loved how I got to use this book as an illustration in a conversation with my husband (bless his heart).

Flooded is a beautiful book about coming together as a community to tackle the problems around us. Parents and caregivers can utilize the ambiguity of the book to help children understand bigger issues in the world or smaller problems in their own lives. Flooded is set for publication October 2. Loved the message behind the story. The book is a simple illustration of how we can solve anything if we only work together.

Flooded by Mariajo Ilustrajo was a childrens book the kids and I read via the tv screen.

All three kids loved the book and they agreed that they felt sorry for the animals having to deal with the flood even though the animals weren’t bothered by it. After seeing the animals working together the kids were relieved that the animals no longer had to adapt to water conditions.

The illustrations in the book, particularly in the colour, were simple yet effective. Blues and greys gave it a sad feel about the book but the tiniest pop of yellow from the monkey's tail gave the story a bit of hope.

I love how it demonstrates how if we leave an issue continuing it builds up and eventually we will have to sort out a bigger mess than if we fixed the problem when it first occurred.

Overall a fantastic book, the kids keep asking to reread - looks like a book I will eventually buy when I can.

This book was so atmospheric, I loved it! The writing too was so perfectly done, it really was heart warming and not at all difficult to read, so is perfect for kids all ages. I will definitely be recommending it! Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this early copy

Strong message for readers of all ages though older readers will understand more. Ilustrajo shows how easy it is to ignore a major problem until it becomes almost insurmountable. Readers see the animals cope with a little bit of water and accept it. Then the water get higher until, as the title says, the city is completely flooded. Then, when it is almost too late, they realize they need to work together to find a solution. Don't miss all the side comments in each page spread. Be sure to look for the one animal who sounds the alarm from the start. I appreciate the statement that nothing was the same afterward and the hope for the future when they problem solve before a crisis happens. Terrific to open dialogue on issues surrounding us currently and how everyone can help solve them.
