I read this book with my 4 year old. He loved the artwork and animals. I greatly appreciate the rhyming as well--it helped the story flow. The pacing worked well, and the overall message was clear. The title is interesting and appropriate--it is what grabbed my attention.
Some of the words made it difficult for him to understand. I.e. Curiosity alight, they hastened their pace, intrigued by a traveler, a smile on their face. This page was hard for him to understand because there were three vocabulary words that were hard for him--alight, hasten, and intrigued. We are all about increasing his vocabulary, but with him it is usually easier if there is only one difficult word per page for him.
I think it could have used a couple more patients and that the book should have ended on 'From that day on, the animals came, to the gold castle, for healing and games. He said "the end" after that page because it naturally felt like it was finished.
His favorite part of the story was the unicorn! We loved that!
Overall super cute, and unique story. My son said he loved it and would read it again.

I loved the illustrations and the idea is cute but the rhyming did not work for me at all. It felt very forced and some of the situations were just strange. Why would a monkey have a beak stuck in his armpit? This seems like it could use a lot of editing.
I really hate to be someone who just craps on a book, but this was just bad. Was it written and drawn by AI? Cause that is certainly how it felt. The story itself was a basic one with animals going to the castle for healing. However, the things that needed healing were just ridiculous but not in a fun or even in a makes sense sort of way. A whistle in a tail, spoon in an ear, a hat on a giraffe? Really? Even the writing style seemed as if it was trying in parts to rhyme, but just came across as messy. Which was also an issue with the illustrations. While there were some really nice images, most of them looked like they weren't even made by the same artist. Alot of the images even on one page looked badly photoshopped together. This was especially apparent with the children in the scenes or any objects that were needed to be removed from the animals that show up to be healed.
