I don't think I can bring myself to give this an *actual* rating because I feel that the poetry in this is very specific to the author, I can't say that I personally enjoyed this and I think if I'd of fully known what it was I maybe wouldn't have picked it up, but you can truly see the passion in the words and just how important this is to them.
*Note - I am unable to post without giving a star rating so have given it 4 stars as I can see other reviews.
A collection of poetry that unfurls the intricate tapestry of women's emotions and experiences. With lyrical grace and introspective depth, the author/poet navigates themes of loneliness, unconventional relationships, and emotional abandonment. The book unflinchingly explores the complexities of the human psyche, delving into the scars of abuse and promiscuity. Through each poignant verse, the author reveals a raw and unfiltered portrayal of the yearning for love, self-discovery, and the strength found in vulnerability.
Hey, fellow readers! If you're into poetry that's like a soul-deep dive into emotions and experiences, So Dead for Myself is gonna hit you right in the feels. Josefina Paiva's words are like a window into women's hearts, exploring stuff like loneliness, complicated connections, and the scars we carry. Seriously, it's like reading someone's diary – so honest and real.
But don't think it's all heavy stuff – there's also bits about love, self-discovery, and finding strength in vulnerability. And guess what? This book isn't afraid to tackle the stuff most people shy away from. It's like a conversation with a super-wise friend who's seen it all and isn't afraid to talk about it.
This collection of poetry by Josefina Paiva is truly unique with its raw and unfiltered emotion. The poems themselves both look, and sound beautiful.
I do feel like some of the poetry went above my head, and that experienced poetry readers will have a better experience reading this collection than I had, as there were quite a few things I didn’t feel like I quite understood. Despite this, I still felt connected with a lot of the things that were said and had a generally nice time reading.
I’d recommend this poetry collection to any poetry lover, but especially the more experienced ones.
It appears as though this is the authors first collection of poetry, and I’d be interested in reading some more from this author in the future.
Big thanks to Netgalley, BookBuzz, and the author Josefina Paiva for allowing me to read an E-ARC of this collection of poetry.
