You;ve got to love Milly Johnson for the exuberance of her writing, her humour, her strong female characters, her unfailing grasp of life with all its joys and challenge, and the sheer entertainment of her books. The Happiest Ever After falls in Milly's finest tradition, introducing us to 35-year-old Polly, who escapes her unhappy relationship and awful bosses by creating a fictional world with a feisty heroine. But what happens when fantasy meets reality? Will Polly find the courage and strength of her alter-ego Sabrina to change her life? Maybe with the help of new friends, the wonderfully named Mad Cows group of old ladies, fiery restaurateur Teddy and his cousin Flick, she can become the person she longs to be - and help them with their problems in the process.
With Milly's trademark excerpts from the hapless Daily Trumpet, this is a laugh-out-loud read - Polly's family are a on the whole a villanous bunch you'll love to hate, while her new friends will capture your heart with their kindness and humour. But of course, there is lots of emotion here, too, and the very real message that with belief in yourself and support from your friends, you can become what you want to be. A wonderful and uplifting page-turner.

The Happiest Ever After is Milly Johnson at her finest - a heartwarming story of a woman overcoming struggles to live her best life.

Packed full of female empowerment, true love, sisterhood and friendship, I found this book to be a perfect cosy read.

The inclusion of the Daily Trumpet snippets was hilarious - I loved them in her earlier novels and am glad they’ve made a comeback!

Such a perfect title for this gorgeous story. It leaves you feeling like you’ve just had the best time with an old friend over hot chocolate and a lovely cake.

I’ve loved all of Millie Johnson’s books however this one has outshone itself with pure joy and a wonderful sense of fun. Lovely snippets of laugh out loud errors from the newspaper and it’s misspellings, then a final piece that had me snorting with laughter that frightened the dog.

A perfect book for anyone wanting to feel that all is well in the world no matter what odd going on around you.

Thank you to Netgalley the author and publishers for an arc in exchange for an honest review

I really enjoy Molly Johnson’s books and loved this one - it was read in a couple of sittings.

Polly Potter is surviving her life - overlooked at work and ignored at home by her partner - she has decided to take control like the main character in the novel she is writing. She will channel her inner Sabrina and stand up for herself. She decides to leave her partner after her sister-in-law’s celebration.

However a series of unforeseen events finds her losing her memory and traumatised. She is taken in by Marielle and given work by her son, Teddy, at his Italian restaurant. Here she begins to heal and finds out more about herself. She is able to help Teddy fight for the of his business and is put in a position where she can choose her future with all the facts in front of her.

I liked the emergence of the real Polly and the host of supporting characters were equally good.

A real warm book - one to be recommended.

I have read all Milly's books and she never fails to spin a great yarn! This book is no exception.
Polly Potter is disatisfied in life. She used to love her job, and her life with partner Chris, but since Chris 'strayed' her life has turned sour.
She packs her things and heads for a sleepy seaside town near Whitby, a place that is dear to her heart.
She needs to take some time to gather her thoughts, and to decide on how she wants her life to play out.
However, something happens that means she loses her memory. She seems to think that she is called Sabrina, but can't remember much else.
'Sabrina' finds her working in a busy Italian restaurant, run by good looking Italian Teddy. She meets his family and soon settles down into their way of life.
Will she ever remember Polly Potter? Will she return to her old life?
Read to find out......

Milly Johnson's ability to write characters who are flawed but loveable at the same time is commendable. This was a lovely book that had me hooked throughout.

Any book by Milly Johnson has to be a first on my reading list, and this one did not disappoint. Her writing is beautiful, her characters are described with humour and kindness. Polly/Sabrina finds herself in a completely new situation after an accident which causes memory loss. Her time in the Italian family and in the restaurant is so well described.
Thank you for allowing me to read and review this book. I want to read it again!

Milly Johnson is just the queen of feel good fiction and this is as uplifting as you would expect. Her main character Polly has been increasingly frustrated at work since it was bought out several years ago and she gets no credit for the work she does, and at home she’s counting down the days until she can leave her partner who has put no effort into repairing their relationship since he had an affair a year ago. Polly has dealt with some of her issues through her creative writing course where her main book character Sabrina is dealing with similar issues but isn’t afraid to tackle them. A twist of fate at the end of a very bad day gives Polly a taste of Sabrina’s life yet she’s equally left in hiatus wondering just who she really is.

There’s a fabulous mix of characters in this from utterly lovely to totally odious and many levels in between, the seaside setting and the warm Italian restaurant were lovely and the story itself is fresh yet Milly makes it feel so comfortable and familiar at the same time. I love Polly’s resilience and the choices she made and the Daily Trumpet snippets never fail to raise a smile (they really need a compendium edition). This was a heartwarming read with a mix of emotions but never far away from a happy moment.

What a beautiful feel good read The Happiest Ever After is!!!

Polly has an unhappy marriage where she feels unloved and unappreciated and a job which mirrors for her home life. Her only escape is on the pages of the novel she is writing where she can become Sabrina Anderson, who has the life she can only dream of.

When Polly decides to leave her unhappy existence behind fate steps in and she has an accident which leaves her with memory loss. Polly is suddenly Sabrina living by the sea, and becoming part of an Italian family working in their busy restaurant, where she is welcomed and feels loved. The restaurant owner Teddy has a lot to do with her new found happiness.

Will her past life threaten her newfound happiness? Is it possible to start over again? I was rooting for Polly on the journey she took in the book which had me page turning.

A lot of people settle for a familiar safe life but Polly’s story gives the reader, hope that with a little courage they can turn their own life around, even when it seems impossible.

The characters in this book were so well portrayed, I felt like I knew them personally. The plot was beautifully told, and it left me with a heartwarming feeling This book is perfect to curl up with savouring every page Milly Johnston is an exceptional storyteller I thoroughly recommend this fantastic book

I loved loved loved this book! I thought it was such a clever premise and I really enjoyed the characters, I hated the ones you were supposed to hate and loved the ones you were supposed to love! I felt so sorry for Polly when all her plans to escape went awry when she had been so brave to escape in the first place. So seeing how everything fell into place when she awoke as Sabrina was really heartwarming. There were some very complex characters who made me want to shout into the book to warn people about how horrible they were- but thankfully their true colours were revealed soon enough. I enjoyed every minute of this book and devoured it in a weekend. Would highly recommend.

My first Milly Johnson book and it did not disappoint.

Polly Potter is unhappy at work, and unhappy at home. Her long term boyfriend cheated on her over a year ago, after all the promises nothing has changed!

Polly has a plan to escape and start a fresh but all goes horribly wrong and next Polly wakes up and doesn’t know who she is or what she is doing.

This book has some laugh at loud moments, but also has your pulling at your heart strings.

I highly recommend this book

Thank you so much for letting me read The Happiest Ever After by Milly Johnson. This is a delicious warm hug of a book containing wonderful characters you can empathise and fall in love with, plus several baddies to add tension to the mix. The storytelling is deft, the humour is brilliant and despite the many setbacks, we know that love will eventually win through. (And yes, I am a friend of Milly’s but I wouldn’t be writing nice things about her book if I didn’t genuinely love it, I promise!)

A wonderful heartwarming book with more than a touch of humour, particularly in the excerpts from the Daily Trumpet Newspaper. Delightful characters one can easily relate and wouldn't mind in one's life to plus a fair sprinkling of rogues to balance the mix providing a fair bit of entertainment in their awfulness. Definitely a book to immerse oneself in and which I, for one, didn't want to end. A resounding 5 stars for an entertaining light read

Milly's books are like fine wine, they just keep getting better and more magical every time.

I absolutely loved this story, my chest ached for what some of the characters went through but I also whooped when they stuck up for themselves and powered through. Solid female powerhouses!

As always there's characters you will just adore and ones you'll love to hate. It's a book full of love, friendship, dishonesty, loyalty and over all kindness, with sea side and yummy foods.

Absolute winner if a book, you will not be disappointed!

I enjoyed this book, it was a difference read and I did enjoy the story line, the characters were well written and their stories unfolded really well, I wasn't sure if this was going to be as good as I didn't enjoy the last book, for me this is Milly back on track.

I always feel like Christmas has come early when a new Milly Johnson book comes out. I love everything about her books, not least how she writes such different stories but all with the same wonderful warmth and fabulous characters.

The Happiest Ever After did not disappoint. Gorgeous book about new starts, finding out who you really are - and putting some men in their place on the way. Well done Milly, can't wait for the next book!

What a beautiful book by fabulous author Milly Johnson.
Wouldn't it be wonderful to reinvent yourself, especially when things go wrong?
Polly Potter is not in the best place. Stuck in a job filled with misogynistic management, a relationship where she is not appreciated and feeling unfulfilled in general, she has a plan to get out.
Then something else happens. A twist of fate, which means she can live the life of Serena, who is essentially a character she was writing about in her creative writing group previously,
I shan't go into too much detail, but I was rooting for Polly throughout, gasping in shock at a particular moment which became the catalyst for her change, and then rooting for Serena, too!
Romance? Yes, both failed and new chances.
There are plenty of obstacles to overcome and a great cast of characters.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for an ARC.

The Happiest Ever After is a wonderful heartwarming read that I absolutely adored. I love all this authors work but somehow this one made my heart sing with joy.
Polly Potter is a character with depth that you are immediately drawn to, treated basically as a doormat by her partner and his family and is completely taken advantage of at work by her boss as he takes credit for her outstanding ideas of how to turn around failing companies. Finally enough is enough and Polly decides she is leaving her partner and changing her life around. There are some jaw dropping moments that lead to this.
This is Polly’s journey to find a life for herself and as a reader you become totally involved, engrossed and cheering her on. A cast of characters that the good you cheer for, the bad whose comeuppance you can hardly wait for.
The exerts of printing mistakes in the Daily Trumpet newspaper often had me laughing out loud. An absolute joy to read and savour, one I’m sure I’ll be re reading again soon.
My thanks to net galley and publishers for the opportunity to review this book honestly.

Another classic Milly Johnson, I could honestly read her books every day of the week. They are jam-packed with relatable and interesting characters, a caustic wit and laugh-out-loud moments, as well as a depth to them you’re never quite ready for. I would wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who wants to immerse themselves into something completely feel-good and kickass!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for letting me read this book ahead of publication.
