Every women's nightmare!!! What a great thriller, kept me on the edge of my seat. Just enough description to keep it moving forward. Loved it. Thank you netgalley for the advance copy
Devoured this book in one day. It follows Emily, who is suffering from the recent loss of her father. Her boyfriend, Max tries to take them on a little getaway to "reconnect" when in actuality it is anything but the romantic time they envisioned. Well written, good character development and a great ending!
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for an ARC of this book! I thorougly enjoyed this one with all the twists and turns and it hooked me from the very first chapter - The Prologue! The last line really did it for me and I suggest everyone read this book! I am a Librarian and I made sure we bought a copy for my library. I will be recommending this one and am going back to read the rest of Keri's books! Thanks again!
A dark secret. A deadly obsession. No place to hide..
A book filled with secrets, lies, deceit and obsession? Count me in, buttercup!
Keri Beevis, narrates a wild ride filled with characters you will love to hate. This book is dark! I was completely consumed as soon as I concluded the first chapter. There was no shortage of twists and turns and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. The twist was insane and unpredictable!
I can not wait to see what Beevis comes out with next!
The Boat House is currently free on kindle unlimited and I strongly encourage you to purchase this book!
Happy reading, folks!
Teaser :
Max Hunter, my boyfriend, booked the beautiful boat house on the Norfolk Broads as a surprise autumn break
A week away to heal after a fraught few months following my father’s death. A chance to put the lies and secrets behind us and to start afresh. But in the silence it feels like someone is out there. Watching, waiting and taunting me.
When strange things begin to happen, I know this isn't going to be the relaxing break it’s supposed to be.
As I become more jumpy, Max’s patience begin to wear thin. He thinks I am imagining things. But he doesn't know the huge secret I am keeping, so big it could destroy us.
I have every right to be fearful and I have to make sure he never finds out the truth. But what if I am already too late?
A nice little getaway for just Emily & her boyfriend Max? Yeahhhh, it was anything but nice. More like terrifying & creepy to be honest. Told between the present & past, this was a fast read. The twists & turns were well thought out & a few of them had my jaw drop to the floor, my anxiety was through the roof the majority of this books.
Thank you NetGalley & Boldwood books for an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I am a big fan of Keri Beevis after reading The Summer House and The Sleepover. She knows how to build tension and keep you guessing! When I saw the invite to be on the blogtour for The Boat House I had to say yes. A big thanks to Keri, Boldwood and of course Rachel from Rachel’s Random Resources for my E-Arc and spot on the blog tour. The Boat House starts with a gripping prologue then centres on the story of Emily who, in the present, is going on an autumn break with her boyfriend Max to try and heal a rift in their relationship. In the recent past we find out about the difficult time Emily has been going through, her relationship with Max and the life events leading up to the trip. First of all, please can we show some appreciation for the stunning, creepy book cover – can anyone else see a creepy face? I found the description of the boat house with its tunnels and storage room quite creepy, and although the setting is idyllic I’m not sure I’d want to be that remote! Beevis is great at descriptions of buildings and places and I could picture it really well. The prologue primes you for what might lay in store for Emily and as the story develops the tension increases. Emily is a very vulnerable character due to her circumstances and Max is not particularly supportive which increases her vulnerability. The side characters, Leah and Connor are well written and the reader is guided towards different assumptions and theories. The story is full of tension, intrigue, and twists. It’s edge-of-the-seat stuff and certainly wasn’t predictable. Beevis really knows how to write thrillers and I can’t wait for her next one!
Her boyfriend Max has booked a secluded getaway for them at a boat house and it is just stunning and everything I dreamed of but then strange things start happening and I feel like somebody is watching me. My boyfriend Max tells me I am imagining it and he becomes frustrated with me but he doesn't know the secrets I am holding deep inside. Wow the atmosphere is electric with a dark and creepy vibe. My favourite character of course is Scout the dog who will protect his family from any dangers while putting himself on the line. The chapters flow beautifully making it hard to put down. This is definitely a page turning physcological thriller.

My Opinion
This is a gripping thriller that will grab your attention from the beginning. If you like a good thriller then this is the book for you - it has secrets, lies and a dog. With a fast pace you will not be bored and sadly you will be at the end before you know it. Max and Emily are getting away for a week to try and rekindle their relationship, will it work? You will have to read The Boat House to find out.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW
Review for 'The Boat House' by Keri Beevis.
Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Keri Beevis, Boldwood Books and Rachel's Random resources Tours.
Publication date 24th August 2023
This is the first book I have read by this very talented author but it most certainly won't be my last!!! I've already added all her other books to my wish list and can't wait to read them!!
This novel consists of a prologue, 49 chapters and an epilogue. The chapters are short in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
'The Boat House' discusses some topics that may upset some readers or may not be suitable for others. I like to point this out ahead of time in my reviews so you can judge if this book is for you or not. In this book Keri discusses drugs, @b0rti0n, r@p3 and $talking.
WHAT did I just read!!!! WOW!!! I mean seriously Wow!! I was NOT expecting that lot fair play!!! This has GOT to start with a MASSIVE WELL DONE Keri!!!! Ooopps sorry, yes, needed a minute to get over that but I've just left you hanging there... Sorry.... Let me tell you more...
Firstly let's start off with the writing style, etc!! This book is an extremely well written book by this amazing author which had me hook line and sinker!!! It is so smoothly and fantastically written with vivid descriptions I completely forgot I was even reading a book a few times. The synopsis, title and cover really fit the storyline.
As you can tell I LOVED the storyline!!! I found it to be realistic, creepy, addictive ,very fast paced and I read it in a day. I loved the unique setting and atmospheres and just well... Everything!!! This is one of those epic storylines that really does show how one moment in time can change so many lives!!! I absolutely loved this twisty and gripping thriller!!! Keri uses multiple perspectives and timelines in her storyline and managed to weave them altogether perfectly. Keri takes us into the past where Emily is spending time with her estranged dad who is dying with cancer in a hospice. Emily meets a volunteer called Cooper and things take a dark and nasty turn. The present storyline takes us on a week holiday with Emily, her boyfriend Max and their dog Scout to a boat house. They are hoping to reconnect and to rejuvenate after the loss of Emily's dad but when there are secrets and strange goings on will things get worse rather than better? I absolutely adored the creepy and isolated setting of the boat house and Keri's evocative writing skills really brings the atmosphere and setting to life along with the characters and the suspense she creates. This book is ram packed with tension, lies, suspense, twists, shocks and absolutely everything you could ever ask for in a psychological thriller!!! This book was extremely fast paced with something constantly happening to keep you addicted. Every time I kept telling myself one more chapter the one I was in ended at a point where there was no way I could stop reading so I absolutely devoured it in one sitting!! I was constantly guessing and questioning myself about who was behind what, what was going on and who was telling the truth and when everything was revealed I was absolutely shocked and had been completely wrong about everything!! This is not an easy feat considering how many books I read a year so a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS Keri!! Arggghhh... Its so hard to NOT say anything about them as it will give too much away and spoil it for future readers but it definitely left me speechless over and over!!! I have read hundreds of psychological books and it gets harder and harder to keep my interest and to shock me but Keri managed it hook, line and sinker Just brilliant fair play and everything linked in and wraps up perfectly!!! I cannot remember the last time I flew through a book so quickly. Each and every time I went to put it down to do something my fingers were itching to pick it back up as I just HAD to know what happened next!! Keri's evocative writing skills ensures you are dragged deep into the storyline seeing everything that is happening and feeling the tension and suspense throughout. I was on the edge of my seat and biting my nails wondering what was going to happen next. I can't say more than that as I don't want to spoil it for future readers so if you want to know you'll have to grab yourself a copy!! You won't regret it!! Just like with the storyline the characters come to life with Keri's fantastic writing skills. They are well rounded, complex, realistic and strong making them all the more believable. I won't go into more details as I don't want to risk giving anything away but Keri really has done an amazing job constructing an addictive and explosive psychological thriller with fantastic and varied characters that you just won't be able to put down!! I must admit I was annoyed with some of the characters choices and actions which made them unlikeable at times. My favourite character just had to be the loyal and adorable Scout!!! I am a massive animal lover so any books that include animals as main characters are always a huge hit for me and Scout is one of the sweetest I've met!! Regardless of whether you love or hate the characters they all work perfectly to create an absolutely explosive page turner!! I would absolutely LOVE to see this turned into a movie and would wait up all night to get tickets to watch it!! An absolute must read!!
Congratulations Keri on an explosive success!!! I would like to welcome you to my favourite author club!! Here's to your next success 🥂!!!
Clear your schedules before picking this up as you will not be able to put it down!!! "
Make sure you read to the very end of the book to read the prologue and first chapter of Keri's ''Trust No One' which promises to be just as addictive as this book and is one I'm definitely looking forward to reading myself!!
Overall an absolutely page turning, addictive, gripping and explosive must read that will keep you addicted from the very start to the mind blowing ending!!!
316 pages.
This book is just 99p to purchase on kindle via Amazon, free with kindle unlimited and £9.99 in paperback which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!

I loved this book so much it had great character depth and lots of edge of your seat moments. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. I highly recommend for all thriller lovers who like a locked door mystery!
Thanks to netgally and boldwood for the chance to read and review this ARC
All thoughts and opinions are my own
After a very exciting prologue, the action goes back three days. We meet Emily Worth and learn how she met her boyfriend Max Hunter. They have now been together three years and have a dog called Scout. After a difficult time including the death of Emily’s father, the three of them (Emily, Max and Scout) were now going away on holiday to the Norfolk Broads, where they were going to be staying in a boat house.
The story goes back and forth in time, so you get to see the back story unfolding too. Emily meets a man called Connor who is a volunteer at the hospice where her dad is before his death. Max and his friend Leah sometimes seem to be a little close for Emily’s liking.
At the boat house, strange things begin happening and soon, Max is asking Emily what has been happening. It seems she has a secret which looks to be putting them in danger.
For starters, there’s no way I would go to somewhere like the boat house! It’s incredibly spooky and to be fair, they were asking for trouble going to a location like something out of a horror film. But moving on from the scary setting…
I really liked the short chapters of the book. The story was well-paced and exciting, with really good cliffhangers which make you turn the pages. It’s tense and unnerving and keeps you guessing all the time what’s going on and who is behind it.
I have read several of Keri’s books now and they are all a rollercoaster, one which you’ll enjoy while you’re on it, but also quite happy when you can get off, have a sit down and a cup of tea! Phew!
A chance meeting was love at first sight for Emily Worth in Leeds and three years later, she and Max Hunter are off for a well-earned rest in Wroxham on the Norfolk Broads, a bit of togetherness time after the recent deaths of her Aunt Cathy and her father, staying at The Stone Boat House with their border collie Scout. She learns that the secluded house was once the scene of a tragic accident and almost as soon as they arrive, Emily realises strange things are happening. A mystery gift. A stranger lurking outside. Someone in the house and an untethered boat. Strange messages left for them both. Could this be anything to do with the secret from Scarborough Emily is keeping or just her guilty imagination making her think someone has followed her to this idyllic riverside retreat?
Switching back and forth between the past and the present, the truth is slowly revealed as the reader watches the couple start to doubt each other and become ever more terrified in a chilling story with an exciting conclusion. This is a very well written book guaranteed to draw in the reader and firmly hold their attention right up to the very last page.
The Boat House was such an exciting read, I loved the plot and characters were intriguing. I was hooked from the start and I couldn’t put the book down, especially towards the end. This book is full of secrets and lies, but what are the lies and what are the secrets.
The story starts with Max and Emily, a couple who are going away for a few days. Emily has had a rough time recently and she has a few secrets to go along with it. Their trip away becomes creepy and sinister, Max and Emily don’t know what to do when things start going wrong. Someone is out there watching them.
The main characters were good and their story was interesting. Some of the other characters were mysterious and could have been put down as the stalker. I could guess who it was quickly but it was the motive which shocked me. The secrets continued to be revealed up until the end of the book. The ending was good and it was left open ended and left for the readers imagination.
Overall, this was a great page turner with a unique setting. The author created a creepy atmosphere with the boat house and the surrounding areas. I would definitely recommend this book and this author!
3.5⭐
Genre ~ domestic thriller
Setting ~ England ~ Wroxham, Leeds, Scarborough
Publication date ~ August 24, 2023
Page Count ~ 316 (49 chapters, + p & e)
POV ~ multiple 3rd
Featuring ~ dual timeline ~ now & before, stalking, non graphic r@pe, abortion, secrets, lies
Emily is our main narrator. She and boyfriend, Max, are on week long holiday to reconnect after some misunderstandings. But can they reconnect with all the secrets and lies they both keep? I mean what kind of relationship do you have if you keep important things from each other? Not a super healthy one in my opinion.
In the before timeline, Emily's estranged father is dying from cancer. They grew apart after her mother and sister were killed in an accident years ago. She is by his side in hospice for his final days, though, where she meets a volunteer. Connor soon becomes obsessed with Emily and stalks, drugs and r@pes her. Do I like the choices Emily made? Not at all, but I felt her and his actions, and his character, were well written.
There were some tense moments and the atmosphere surrounding the Boat House gave me the nice, creepy vibes that I enjoyed, and the cover captures it nicely.
Most characters were pretty unlikable, especially Emily and her choices I didn't agree with. I really liked Emily's friendship with Francesca. She was really there for her when she needed her the most, a true bff. Unlike, Max, who could have been a better support system, although, he did believe and support her when it mattered the most. As terrible as it is to say based on what he did, Connor was probably my favorite character. And, of course, I loved the faithful dog, Scout. She does get kicked, which I didn't like, but she was protecting her person, so I'll let it slide.
Overall, I was not as gripped as I had hoped to be. This book had a different vibe, which Keri writes about in her acknowledgments. I can understand her reasoning in going this route, but it wasn't what I was expecting after loving The Summer House so much. I'll for sure be reading what she writes next.
Plenty of 5 ⭐ love, so don't let me deter you.
This was intense and I was hooked from the start. I was so intrigued and invested, flipping pages with fervor. Excellent read.
This is such a dark, tense thriller. It was so enthralling and I was flying through the pages at breakneck speed. The way everything is hinted at, mixed in with with breadcrumbs of clues. @keri.beevis is the master of the psychological thriller and this was one of my favourites as you are never really sure what the truth is. I think the ending was perfectly plotted and I don't think I will forget in a long time.
***trigger warning*** Sexual Abuse
starts off strong, well paced and ends exactly right.
it wasn't the most intense, fast paced, high stakes or suspenseful thriller I've read but still the story and characters kept it interesting, the chapters in the past providing some clues on what's happening in the present and the situation slowly escalating.
the plot twist isn't the most interesting part of the story tho which usually means that the book isn't worth it and yet this one was!
massive trigger warning for mentions of SA tho, if that's a topic you're sensitive to definitely avoid this book. for a moment I thought it was going to be downplayed and very poorly represented but the author didn't disappoint and covered the subject properly.
I can't spoil it but good god is *#*#(#* an angel and deserved better 🫶 I should never have doubted #*$(%)%#
*edit bc i almost forgot to mention their weird obsession with the dog like it needs to be babysat everytime they step out of the house. seriously they're always asking someone to watch the dog even when they're gone for 2 hours or something, it's not a baby guys chill 🙏
Review posted on Goodreads and maybe later on instagram at readingsty and amazon if they accept the review
This book pulled me in at the prologue and kept me reading until the end. The prologue makes you think one thing will happen, but it's not quite what the reader thinks. The writing style keeps the reader's interest. Developed characters and plot. Even though the stalker is hinted at early in the book, the ending still is a little surprising. Emily and her boyfriend, Max, have some issues in their relationship along with some secrets. Just when they are trying to put their relationship back in order by going away for a week, strange things start happening at the rented boat house. Will they find out who is behind the mystery? Will they survive? A great psychological thriller.
As always, Keri Beevis turns up the suspense level to a ten out of ten. The Boat House has a plot line that is incredibly relatable - unfortunately. So many people have gone through a version of this story, including myself. Ms. Beevis just takes it to another level. A level that is our worst nightmare! This is a need-to-read novel from the great Ms. Beevis. Thank you for another incredible novel!
Thanks to #NetGalley and BoldwoodBooks for the ARC of #TheBoathouse by #KeriBeevis. I really enjoyed this book and made me feel very unsafe knowing that there are people out in the world like this. From start to ending I was totally enthralled with this this book.
