I've probably said this about every Beev book I've read, but this IS her best yet!

It immediately gave me Scream vibes; the uncertainty of being watched, the remote settings of the boat house and the pervading sense of unease.

Although I worked out very early on who was the stalker, I found myself questioning the motives and secrets of the characters several times over. The red herrings and misdirection, hallmarks of the skillful author, still threw me off track.

Fast paced, compelling and suspenseful, need I go on? This was such an enthralling read and I loved every minute of it!

Another gripping read from this author. I have to say I've enjoyed everyone I've read but this is my new favourite.
I was hooked from the beginning, and although I had a hood idea who was scaring Max & Emily, I was still surprised as events happened. This book is very engrossing and addictive, full of the twists the reader expects from this author.
I would 100% recommend this thriller.

The Boat House by Keri Beevis

Emily and Max are on a getaway holiday after the death of her father , staying in an idyllic bathhouse , things are not so great in their relationship either so this holiday is important to them.
They hear strange noises and weird things begin to happen , terrifying Emily.
On returning home things are no better.
A great , tense read with a lot going on to keep you reading until the early hours.

An absolute cracking thriller, Keri Beevis is fast turning out to be one of my favourite authors!
This fast paced novel, told from a few different viewpoints is original and sinister, set perfectly at a beautiful but memory laden Boat house with well written characters, that were fleshed out more and more throughout the book.
Writing style is great, I could see this page turner as a movie and it would be a good one!

I went back and forth on whether to finish this or not. I did end up finishing it. There is not a lot of dialogue. There is not a lot of action. So much description that is not necessary. The exciting parts don’t really happen until 80% and then it’s quickly rushed to the end. And then it’s not really resolved.

Emily and Max had a devoted loving relationship but after finding out her dad had cancer and finding him in a hospice home called Saint Andrews Emily felt Max could’ve been more there for her but coming home and finding him laughing with his friend Lee made Emily incredulous and then when she found them and what looked like a romantic kiss she was incensed and this is win she eventually found herself having drinks with Connor a volunteer at Saint Andrews and someone who had befriended her while she was upset over her father‘s prognosis. her decision to turn to Connor instead of just being open and honest with Max will come back to haunt her severely with Max books them a week long vacation at a boat house she really wants to get them back on track but when strange things start happening she can’t help but I think it must be Connor doing it because after the night they had drinks he started following her and everywhere she went there he was but there was something she’s done but Connor cannot forgive and it may just well be the end of not only her and Max but life all together. let me just say this was a fabulous, phenomenal, no eye rolling involved thriller! Not only that unlike a lot of novels Emily and Max were the same steady character all the way through I do believe this is Carrie Bevis at her best or even better I have loved her books in the past but I am over the moon for The BoatHouse and wish I could give it 10 stars this book should win awards it is so good I absolutely love it and wanted to thank Boldwood books and Net Galley for my free Ark copy please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

I loved, loved, loved this book. Honestly, from the start all my senses were alerted to the danger. Facing our heroine. The Boat House is wonderfully creepy. It is also addictive, I found it hard to let Emily and Max go.

Emily's boyfriend, Max has booked a break away after the stresses of the last few months. However, from their first night Emily has felt spooked. What secrets has she been keeping from Max?

Keri Beevis has created a taut, dark and twisted psychological thriller. Not only that, it is also heartstopplingly emotionally charged.

It is down to this author's extremely skillful plotting that the story flows effortlessly through different timeliness, locations and characters' perspectives!

Ms Beevis writing just gets stronger and stronger with each publication!

This was a pretty good page turner of a thriller. So many twists and turns that really leave you wondering who the bad one really is.
Emily just thought she was getting a romantic get away with her boyfriend, Max, but the troubles from back home followed them straight to Norfolk.

Another great story from the pen of Ms Beevis !! This author has the ability to place the reader in the story and experience all the highs and lows of the characters in it. The other point in this one is that although you may think that you know who the "baddie" is, do you really ? She has you doubting yourself again and again until the final chapters. A must read book.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC to review.

The boat house by Keri Beevis was a gripping thriller which had me up late into the night reading it. It was definitely a tense thriller which was fast paced with many twists and turns. I loved the the writing style which helps builds up the suspense and the character development in this book was fabulous.

Emily and Max are on a holiday at a boat house after a rough year. They are trying to reconnect following the death of her father. When they arrive strange things begin to happen, noises are heard and cryptic messages are left. Emily is terrified. Could this have anything to do with everything that’s happened since her father died?

This was a fantastic thriller which I highly recommend you will not be disappointed. Thanks to netgallery and the publisher for my advanced copy.

Wow... My mind is still reeling.

The Boat House was an epic road full of twists and turns. The ending had me on the edge of my seat.

I will admit it was still guessing who was the villain when the big reveal happened.

There were a couple time I just KNEW who it was only to be thrown off track.

Definitely worth a read for spooky season👻

A domestic thriller set in a boat house in the Norfolk Broads where the main protagonist Emily has been taken as a treat by her partner Max, alongside Scout their collie, and of course my favourite character in the book. Told by Emily in the present and the recent past, where Emily reconciled with her dying father but her time spent with him caused a widening of the rift with Max. A well paced read with well fleshed characters and an entertaining storyline that I read in an afternoon.

Briefly, the holiday is meant to help with their relationship. Emily is convinced that Max is having an affair with his best friend but she is also keeping secrets, and hers are dark, very dark and could put an end to their relationship. From the minute they arrive strange things start to happen and Max initially things Emily is imagining things until …

Although there were a few red herrings, that made me question myself, I don’t think the author was trying to hide who the ‘stalker’ was, there were too many clues to their identity. But knowing didn’t make it any the less scary. The setting was perfect, remote and eerie, the characters good although I didn’t really like either of the main protagonists and the plot well constructed. A very enjoyable read with a good ending and a shocking epilogue.

This was just sheer perfection! I don't even know where to start really. The plot is so original and eerie. Right fro the start of the book, it just had such a tense and tension filled atmosphere built up. It's an old fashioned thriller at its best, it's not just psychological, it's chilling! Things are happening! Constantly! And you have no idea by who or why! The characters are well written, they're built up and are logical and realistic. They make decent choices, this isn't a case of stupid people doing stupid things just so the villain can terrorise them some more. It's so well written and realistic that the hairs on my arms were standing up reading this. And as for the twists...... amazing!! If you read one book this winter then make sure it's this one

An isolated boat house out in the woods and a feeling that someone is watching you,, what could go wrong?

Oh my goodness. Keri Beevis has yet again written a book that sets herself apart from other authors. This is an intense and ardent book that starts out pulling you in and keeps you engrossed. I love Beevis’s writing style and feel as though each of her books have something different in them. Something I can’t quite put my finger on but she definitely is fervant when writing her novels. The characters are brilliantly developed and well….flawed with some of their choices but it would not have been a very long book if they did everything correctly….right? You are guaranteed to root for them throughout as well as being able to feel the emotions they are experiencing due to the dialogue between them. This is definitely an intense read and I do mean intense. The author does an amazing job of building the suspense and the chapters were short which I really loved. The story is told by our protagonist Emily and switches from past to present fluidly and perfectly.

Max has arranged to spend a weekend away with his girlfriend Emily in hopes of reducing stress and grief due to her fathers passing. Prior to her father’s death while he was in respite care, Emily would go and read to him. It was there she met Connor Banks. A very kind person who seemed to hit it off with Emily right away.. Max was able to secure a boat house on the Norfolk Broads in hopes of reconnecting their relationship and spending time together. Emily starts noticing things right away and having a feeling as if someone is watching them. Things are moved from one place in the boat house to another. She becomes adamant and this starts to irritate Max. While the two and their doggie Scout go for a walk they notice what appears to be an abandoned cottage in the woods. As they enter the cabin, they notice items that look like someone has been staying there. One day, while out on a boat, they notice what looks a lantern moving inside of the boat house. When they return, there is a bottle of wine with a note. This could not be left by the owners. There are messages painted on the wall and left on Emily’s make up case. The power is cut off. This immediately frightens Emily. It is then they realize someone has followed them there. What other sinister things will happen? Who is the monster that is watching them and what evil things are they planning?
Hold on tight because this is going to be one hell of a ride. One that you will not want to exit until it’s over with. The ending is definitely not what I expected but pulls everything together. Keri Beevis has become one of my favorite authors and is in my top five. If you enjoy reading psychological thrillers, you need to RUN, not walk to your nearest book seller and get your copy the day it is released. I PROMISE you will have the same edge of your seat heart pounding and nail biting experience I did.

5+++++ stars

**TRIGGER WARNING** Stalking. Violence. Rape.

Max Hunter, my boyfriend, booked the beautiful boat house on the Norfolk Broads as a surprise autumn break. A week away to heal after a fraught few months following my father's death. A chance to put all the lies and secrets behind us and to start afresh. But in the silence, it feels like someone is out there. Watching, waiting, taunting me. When strange things start to happen, I know this isn't going to be the relaxing break it's supposed to be.

The characters are well developed, and the plotline has been perfectly thought out. The tension and suspense build with each turn of the page. The twists kept coming. I was pulled in from the first page of this steady paced read. After the death of her father, Emily's boyfriend Max decides to take her to a boat house on the Norfolk Broads for a relaxing holiday, but it's not long before it turns into a horrific ordeal. Secrets are being kept, lies are getting told, and creepy messages are left. This creepy read had me on the edge of my seat.

Keri Beevis has done it again with a fun and fast paced thriller that kept me guessing the whole way through! This book was a quick read because it was fast paced from the beginning. I devoured it and kept trying to figure out if this romantic weekend getaway was a setup. I was wrong every time! I will definitely be recommending this one to my book club!
