This is book three in this series. I thought this one had a good mystery. I was kinda surprised by the ending.
It kept me guessing to the end. Definitely looking forward to the next one. Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources for the early copy

A Marriage to Murder For is the third book in the Hopgood Hall Murder Mysteries. You don't need to have read the two previous books, but if you are planning on doing so, there are some spoilers for the earlier books.

This time, our intrepid duo find themselves with a murdered groom on their hands in what seems to be an open and shut case, but which of course, proves to be anything but.

The series has so far tackled celebrity chefs, and this time moves to 'influencer' territory with a televised wedding. But all is not paradise between the couple, and as the story evolves, there are many, many secrets to uncover.

I really enjoy this series of books. Alexis and Jack work well together, and the author offers a tight and well-constructed story - with just enough hints for the reader to 'almost' know what's happening, but still with a mighty 'big reveal' in the closing moments.

A thoroughly enjoyable, tightly-plotted and enjoyably cosy mystery.

Thank you to #NetGalley, Boldwood Books and E. V. Hunter for the opportunity to read an advance copy of A Marriage to Murder For, to be published 7 September 2023. This was a sweet cozy mystery taking place in England. It included a cat name Cosmo who was deemed the head of security and had a strong personality along with the protagonist. Her entire focus was on herself and everyone agreed that the bride was a disaster, despite being good looking, just looking for a venue. She found it: her wedding. 5/5 Stars #NetGalley #BoldwoodBooks #E.V.Hunter #AMarriagetoMurderFor

Another great read in this series, not a cost mystery but fun enough. Great characters growing together nicely. Well worth a read. Thank you netgalley for the advanced copy

A Marriage to Murder For is the third book in the absolutely charming Hopgood Hall Murder Mystery series. After a murder occurred at their last big event (a televised cooking competition), Cheryl and Alexi are hoping for some good (actually, great) press and media attention when they agree to host a wedding for a very popular social media influencer. Everything has to go according to plan, not just because Crystabel would completely lose it if anything went wrong but also because the reputation of the inn cannot be further tarnished. On the night of the stag party, the hens decide to drop in and before the night is over, the worst happens - the groom is discovered murdered. Alexi and Jack, along with the security cat Cosmo, once again, team up to solve this murder.

I absolutely love the Hopgood Hall Murder Mystery series. A Marraige to Murder For is another great addition to the series. While the mystery in each book is unique and intriguing, the character development flows beautifully between books. I am thoroughly enjoying Jack and Alexi's relationship and the friendships between everyone that works at Hopgood Hall. Cosmo is the perfect comedic add! The countryside setting and the inn are perfect for a cozy. I cannot wait to see what the group gets up to in book 4!

Thank you to Net Galley and Boldwood Books for an e-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I have been majorly into Cozy Mysteries the past while and figured a story featuring a journalist, a private investigator, and a cat named Cosmo that takes place on a boutique hotel in horse country would be an excellent new series to begin.

Unknown to me before I requested the book, this is the third book in the series. So that I could do it justice, I read the first two before starting this one. The series is wonderful and this instalment was an exciting addition to Alexi, Jack and Cosmo’s tales.

In A Marriage to Murder For, Crystabel, a budding influencer and reality tv star, is marrying her fiancé Giles this weekend at Hopgood Hall and all festivities are being filmed for their exclusive series about the wedding. Crystabel is ever controlling and crashes her intended’s stag, in an attempt to have a joint party. After Giles turns her and her bachelorette party away, Crystabel is humiliated. Later, Giles turns up murdered and Crystabel is holding the knife and covered in his blood.

Crystabel is the main suspect (from both the police and the entire wedding party) but Alexi and Jack aren’t so sure. It’s up to them to find out what really happened so that Hopgood’s reputation is untarnished.

While not true cozies (there is some swearing, violence and sexual activity) the mysteries are good and I really enjoy finding out what happened. I felt like I figured out who the killer was quite early in this one but couldn’t completely figure out why they did what they did until the very end.

I am looking forward to the next instalment and will continue to read along Alexi and Jack’s journey.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC! The publication date is the 7th September 2023.. This is the first book I’ve read from this author and from the very first page I was intrigued as it kept me on my toes. I was dying to read on to find out what happen next.

The characters were likeable and well written my favourite character was Crystabel. This book should definitely be made into a tv series. A fantastic read- if you read this book you won’t be disappointed it’s a real page turner!
