This is a great story. It goes off in one direction and then another and you soon realise it is way more complicated than it first seemed. A very topical theme which is dealt with in a most original way! Fast paced and interesting.
Wow, what a plot line. I am absolutely in awe of Ruth creating such an epic read! It really isn't what you expect and for that, it keeps you hooked. Characters are incredible, I'm so thrilled at how it went because it leaves you questioning so much, it has to be devoured! I did not see any of the twists and thoroughly enjoyed the ending. Sad as it is, but what beautiful friendships through tragedy. Loved it. Thank you to netgalley, the author and publisher for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
This was a very enjoyable read, with a unique storyline and great characters, especially the maim character Tate. Its a real page turner with more twists than you can imagine with a very acceptable outcome. Highly recommended.
Buckle up for the ride and enjoy the twists and turns of this tale of revenge and obsession. Read it really quickly, it's great escapism and I loved how the story emerged.
I really enjoyed this! The main protagonist was a good character and it had lots of plot twists to keep it entertaining. A satisfying ending where a truely disgusting man gets his just desserts. OK, some bits were a little far fetched but overall I was very engrossed. A good read!
A woman falls to her death from a London bank’s twenty-fifth-floor roof terrace.
You’re arrested for her murder.
You tell the police that you had only met the victim the previous night at your office party. She was threatening to jump from the roof, but you had talked her down.
You’ve got nothing to do with this tragedy. You’re clearly being framed.
So why do the police keep picking holes in your story? Even your lawyer doesn’t seem to believe you.
It soon becomes obvious that you’re keeping secrets.
But who are you trying to protect? And why?
This is one hell of a plot and it is done very, very well.
You might think that you know what is going on with this, but believe me, you don't.
Tate Kinsella has been arrested for murder. The story is told in current time and with flashbacks as the story develops as Tate tells her lawyer Sarah what happened, but Tate is not always credible, so what is the truth? There's an interesting plot quirk where chapters are repeated later in the book, but the meaning is different now the reader has more information. I liked the writing and the story but felt like there were too many people involved with Tate just to fill in any gaps, and the ending felt a bit implausible.
Tate finds herself arrested on suspicion of murder, when a woman is found dead, after being pushed off the roof of the office building where Tate is a temp.
As you read on through the many twists and turns of this book, you realise that nothing is as it seems.
Every time I thought I knew where the story was heading, there was another twist.
A strong story of female revenge on a man who has been committing some of the worst crimes known to women.
This is revenge with a capital R!
Tate Kinsella finds herself arrested and charged with murder after a woman is found dead, seemingly after being pushed off the roof of a building. All the evidence points the finger of suspicion towards her including her own statements and her presence at the scene. But all is not as it seems and stunning twists and dripping of clues to us, the readers, and a very different story begins to unfold. The ending is a tad rushed to make sure all the loose ends are tied neatly but we are left with one final twist. A good but not altogether satisfactory read.
This book has such a great opening, you're sucked in from page one and then it's pretty difficult to get out of its grip. It's so hard to say a whole lot without spoilers, and one of the joys of this book is that it doesn't go in the direction I was thinking – at ALL. There's missteps and reveals and surprises all the way along, but the characters and the situation are (mostly) very believable, and I definitely wanted to know what happened.
I loved the setup of Tate telling the story to Sarah, her lawyer, and while there were a couple of places I was a bit confused, once everything slotted into place it all made sense, and there were lots of lightbulb moments. It's a great paced book, and it's incredibly emotional in places: you will feel rage and heartbreak and triumph. A great, unusual thriller with a hugely satisfying ending.
You will get addicted to this book. I read this in one day whilst on holiday as i couldn't put it down.
Although there are quite a few characters, the story immediately unfolds and throws you straight in at the important part.
A brilliant read which kept me guessing right up to the end with an emotional and sad twist.
A satisfying story of revenge that will go down very well with today's 'me too' culture, empowering victims everywhere.
I really enjoy the characters and twists and turns of this story. I know I'm enjoying a book when my eyes are drooping but I'm still wanting to read 'one more chapter'.
A very satisfying and clever thriller.
Not as clever as it thinks it is! I could see where the writer was trying to go with this story but it never quite hit the mark. It is told mostly through flashbacks, the overall plot was interesting but it just fell short. The motives were weak and the relationships weren't written strong enough to drive the back story IMO.
I absolutely loved this - it's one of those where you're racing through it as you can't wait to see what happens but at the same time you don't want it to end. I loved the clever and unique way the author chose to tell this complex story. Divided into several parts, events are revisited but with new information twisting the story in a completely different direction each time, making it literally impossible to guess. I was hooked from start to finish and will definitely be seeking out this author again.
Not a bad read. . Started well but got a bit repetitive and all "very convenient". If you found this on the bookshelves of your hotel you'd have an enjoyable read by the pool
If Revenge is a dish served cold, then this book was thoroughly chilling! When Tate is arrested for murder after the wife of her lover falls to her death at a party, her guilt seems clear cut - but is it? What links Tate, Helen, Maddy and Hayley? This book serves up layer upon layer of intrigue and each time you think you've solved the mystery, another twist appears. Great writing from Ruth Mancini which leaves you wanting more!
A slightly complex plot which bordered on the unlikely for me. intriguing thriller with so many twists. Basically, a young woman Tate, is charged with murder after another young woman (known to Tate) falls from the roof of an office building.
Tate keeps on and on about her innocence to her solicitor - was Tate in the building? why was the other woman there? and Tate's innocence seems to centre around the special security cards and a missing video.
I am afraid I wondered if Tate was innocence after all?
Entertaining book, but I needed more character development and a less tricky plot.
Tate Kinsella is arrested for the murder of a woman who has fallen from the office building Tate works in.
After being given the all clear, Tate finds that she can confide in her lawyer and tells her the full story.
The amount of twists and turns in this book made me feel like I was on a rollercoaster ride. Just when you think you have it sussed BAM theres another twist in the tale.
I give this ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. I can’t recommend this book enough. I couldn’t put the book down and read this within a day. It was fast paced and kept me on my toes. I look forward to reading more by this author in the future!
Thank you to Random House UK and Net Galley for letting me read this advance copy.
When a woman wife falls from a high rise building during a christmas party everything and everyone points to Tate Kinsella and she's not helping herself, repeatedly changing her story and lying to both the police and her solicitor she's fast running out of options.
But is she? This twisted and very readable thriller is clever, addictive and whilst it did seem to lose pace midway through it was compelling enough to keep me reading until the end.
Told from different characters perspectives this was a clever read that intrigued, confused and twisted its way to a satisfying conclusion.
My thanks to Random House UK and NetGalley for the advance copy, I was under no obligation and all opinions expressed are my own.
Great, edge of the seat thriller. Did not expect the twists and turns. Read in a day.
Highly recommended.
