An interesting book with an interesting concept. At first I did not think it was a story for me but that quickly changed and I began to enjoy it
This is a tale of revenge, of sexual grooming and the life long problems it can cause.
On the negative side I found that towards the end it became somewhat repetitive rehashing things we already know from a slightly different view point. The ending although satisfactory does stretch the imagination a little.
Overall a good read with a good moral theme of good overcoming evil.
Mancini has created an unsettling vibe and atmosphere throughout this one which kept me reading from the very first page. The Woman on the Ledge is gripping, addictive and completely unpredictable.
This is tense and very fast paced from the very beginning. A pace which is maintained throughout the book. Tate is arrested which begins the spiral of this one. The characters definitely drive this one forward.
I loved how unpredictable this book has been. Tate tells solicitor Sarah everything which allows us as a reader to unpick events. I have adored everything about this one. There are so many layers and secrets which uncover as we progress through.
My mind has been on overdrive trying to predict this one. I can safely say, I failed on numerous occasions. I love this book and was completely sucked in.
This is my first read by this author, it definitely won’t be the last. I have no doubt, this is going to be a popular and highly successful book.
The Woman on the Ledge is captivating and addictive. Mancini has included so many layers and themes. Each section gives the reader a different part of the story.
This is a book I have raced through. I have no hesitation in recommending this book to other readers.

This book honestly gave me chills! It’s a fantastic mystery and will have you gripped from the first page until the last !
If you’re looking to completely get lost in a story then look no further!
Would highly recommend
Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in return for an honest review. I was instantly gripped by this story which had so many plot twists I was racing to keep up! A brilliantly written suspenseful thriller that just kept on getting more intriguing and was definitely more interesting than your average domestic thriller. I loved the development of the female characters and the bond which they all shared at the end. I’d highly recommend this book to all. 5 stars
2.5 stars
This is possibly the most difficult review I've had to write. I thought the main plot points, the how, the why, and how we get there were all really enjoyable. The twists were very good and I did not always see them coming - in fact I actually thought the author done a great job of misleading me to assuming the twist was going to be something else. I enjoyed the moments of confusion as I wondered what was going to happen next, or how something would be explained. On top of that, I always love female rage so The Woman On the Ledge definitely gets points for that.
However, I felt the writing was a bit too descriptive at times, and almost felt myself starting to skim read as I didn't think a lot of the details we are given were very important and it really slowed the book down for me.
My biggest problem with this book, and the reason it's a 2.5 instead of a 4, is the almost-constant and needless body shaming of women and young girls which had absolutely no bearing on the story. I thought it could be because our main character holds these biases, however it was never actually part of the plot, and it is also done in the chapters from someone else's perspective which just made me annoyed.
Overall, while I found the book quite slow at times and the descriptions of appearances unnecessary, the plot of this book and the twists along the way were thoroughly enjoyable.
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
The Woman on the Ledge was a fantastic story of coming to terms with our own mortality, avenging wrong doings and doing what's right no matter the consequences. Although the premise was what initially intrigued me to the story line, I did find it a touch slow at the start. I knew that there were deeper things at play. A true red herring, an unreliable narrator.
The author got me invested in the story line as it progressed further and further into Tate Kinsella's predicament. She's been arrested for something terrible. She's been accused of pushing a woman to her death from the top of one of London's high rise buildings....her place of work. She vehemently denies doing it, but too many things are tied to her. Her story doesn't add up and she has a motive.
The Woman on the Ledge is a story that with its numerous plot devices and twists literally keeps you guessing. The majestic writing is flawless and the author knows how to describe with a tenacity that has you looking for a deeper meaning, always. Like looking for a needle in a haystack. The twists keep you flinching, keeping you on the edge of your seat.
Initially I struggled with Tate, she's secretive and yet forthcoming, but as you finish the book, you realise that that is exactly how the author wants you to view her. She's secretive and forthcoming for a reason. My fingers stalked the pages and I enjoyed this one immensely.
I really enjoyed The Woman on the Ledge.
The characters were engaging and likeable and I was captivated by the story.
What a brilliant Book, if you don't mind being flipped about a bit this complex thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat & you will find it hard to put it down in order to eat meals & do other things so I highly recommend it. #NetGalley, #GoodReads, #FB, #Amazon.co.uk, #Instagram, #<img src="https://www.netgalley.com/badge/8a5b541512e66ae64954bdaab137035a5b2a89d2" width="80" height="80" alt="200 Book Reviews" title="200 Book Reviews"/>, #<img src="https://www.netgalley.com/badge/ef856e6ce35e6d2d729539aa1808a5fb4326a415" width="80" height="80" alt="Reviews Published" title="Reviews Published"/>, #<img src="https://www.netgalley.com/badge/aa60c7e77cc330186f26ea1f647542df8af8326a" width="80" height="80" alt="Professional Reader" title="Professional Reader"/>.
This book was captivating from the off, Tate is arrested for the murder of a woman who falls from the building she is temping at.
What lies ahead is a complexity of twists, turns and a complicated Web of lies, but what really happened?
A book that keeps you guessing until the end. Thanks to netgalley and the publishers for this advance copy.
A rather convoluted tale of revenge, friendship and tragedy.
The premise of a band of women plotting revenge is an interesting one, The subject of their revenge is a high flyer that will make it even more fulfilling if they can bring him to justice.
An interesting story and I enjoyed it, but did get rather confused in parts, as the narrative kept swapping around. Rather too many characters I would say.
I was quickly drawn into this thriller. At the start, I was intrigued by the situation that the main character found herself to be in, and wanted to know how she came to be in that situation.
This was a page turner, and it wasn't long before I felt emotionally involved. As I got to know the protagonist better, it seemed to me that she had made some questionable choices that could appear selfish. I felt as though her thought processes were understandable, even if her choices and her behaviour were questionable. As a reader, I find it interesting when an author enables me to relate to a character in that way.

The novel begins with Tate Kinsella, an employee for an international bank in London, being arrested and charged with murder after a woman falls from the roof of the building where Tate works.
Kate tells the police that she only met the victim the previous night at their company office party. The woman was threatening to jump from the roof, but Tate talked her down. But why is someone trying to frame Kate with the murder? She had nothing to do with it…or does she? The police are trying to nail her with the crime and even her lawyer doesn't seem to believe her. Kate knows more than she is revealing. It soon becomes obvious that she is keeping secrets. But who is she trying to protect? And why?
This author is new to me but she's good. Really good work.
Thanks to NetGalley and Random House UK Cornerstone Century for giving me an advance copy.
A surprising twist to the story. I would say a good revenge, but a sad ending to a life. I would recommend the name of the girl when they are switching between Maddy and Emily. Took me a few moments to realise we were onto another person. Great read
Excellent book keeps you in suspense until the very end. Well written. I look forward to reading the next book by this author..
I did enjoy reading this and it did just about hold my interest, however, it was rather overly convuluted with some quite unnecessary complications.
The premise was quite good, and I liked the idea of the women joining up to bring someone to justice, just their methods seemed to be far too complex, and because we spent so much time at the front of the book reading false explanations from the main character it became too confusing when the truth eventually trickled out.
Just one too many red herrings for me but a clever original idea.
Hang on a minute while I catch my breath, and catch up on all the sleep I lost reading this until the early hours of the morning! I read this in the first week of the new year, and this book has already shot its way onto my list of top reads for 2024!
Tate Kinsella is a temp at a global bank. She’s also a struggling actress, who’s in debt up to her eyeballs and is the black sheep of her family whose successful siblings have all agreed that she’s a lost cause and that they aren’t going to help her out of her financial crisis. So right from the start, you know that Tate hasn’t always made the best life choices.
But then the unthinkable happens and Tate is accused of murder! She says she didn’t do it – the woman who fell off the roof of the building where Tate works is someone she’d only met the night before! Why on earth would anyone think she murdered her? But her story just doesn’t add up. When you hear Tate’s version of events, you’ll think you’ll know what happened.
Think again … and again … and again!
This book will make your head spin! Every time you think you’re getting a grip on what’s going on … PLOT TWIST!! It’s clever and crafty; smart and polished; slick and complex. It’s sophisticated and intriguing; shocking and heartbreaking; brilliant and just downright WOW on every level!
It won’t take long for the reader to realize that Tate is the epitome of the unreliable narrator. But as the plot clips along at a swift pace, you won’t care. All you’ll want to know is … WHAT HAPPENED? Your powers of perception will be tested numerous times, as you’re forced to re-evaluate your opinions of each character, time and time again.
But before you think this is just a well-crafted, pacy thriller, combined with an intricate police procedural, there are also a couple of deep themes involved here too. There’s a fresh look at misogynism in the workplace and a sensitive take on illness, which begs the question: “What would you do?”
I can’t recommend this book highly enough! 5 stars aren’t enough!
Very cleverly written. A bit of a head spinner for sure. Definitely deserves to hold the psychological thriller genre.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.
The Woman on the Ledge is such a brilliant read. It pulled me in from the beginning and held my interest right to the end.
It's beautifully written and so cleverly plotted; it's a multi-layered story; in fact, it's got more layers than an onion. As one layer was peeled away, and I thought I had it all sussed, there was another layer underneath waiting to be revealed.
The characterisation is superb. I love an unreliable narrator, and I was never sure who to trust or believe; I guessed and double-guessed all the way through.
The Woman on the Ledge is an excellent read with perfect misdirection and a particularly satisfying ending.
I was right there with this until it was implied that using a wheelchair would be worse than dying from jumping off a roof..
It’s like I want these characters in another storyline.
I just reviewed The Woman on the Ledge by Ruth Mancini. #TheWomanontheLedge #NetGalley
Very, VERY good and gripped me to the last chapter!
Mothers will protect their babes no matter what it costs them……. That’s the moral of this chilling tale.
Women coming together to seek justice and retribution…..welcome to the sisterhood of justice…..bet served cold!
