I quite enjoyed the start of this psychological thriller then got a bit confused and my interest dipped a little, then when things started to ramp up I was hooked and loved where the story went.

Life is not going according to Tate Kinsella’s plan – once a TV actress (well, if you could an advert as a job), she’s now working in a bank. As no one wants to befriend anyone who’s only there a short time, she’s at the company Christmas party but isn’t enjoying it. However, life has something else to throw at her when she meets another woman who is contemplating ending things. They bond, in a way, and share secrets about what’s wrong in their lives. But the following day, Tate is arrested for murder, a murder of someone she met for just a few hours. What happened? The story skips back and forth as readers begin to put the pieces together. But it’s not looking good as the police are able to find holes in Tate’s story… A clever idea and an even cleverer plot.

I received an E-ARC with a request for my honest review.

This mind-blowing and twisty psychological thriller follows Tate Kinsella, who is arrested for murder after a woman falls to her death.

Tate is unsure why she is being arrested, and insists she is being framed. She tried to talk the woman down from the ledge the night before at an office party.

Even when Tate is released the suspicions continue with secrets waiting to be revealed.

Was Tate involved? What secrets will be uncovered?

This twisty psychological thriller was amazing. I loved reading and wondering where the storyline was going to go to next. This also makes it a really hard book to review, as I don’t want to give anything away.

There is plenty of mystery and secrets throughout which kept me engrossed and I didn’t want to put the book down.

Tate is a strong female lead character which I liked, along with other characters who are introduced throughout.

Overall, a mind-blowing and twist psychological thriller, where not all may be as it seems when a woman falls to her death.

Tate Kinsella has been arrested for the murder of a woman who has fallen from a high storey building. What follows is an extremely twisting tale with storyline from six months previous and current day.

I can't give more information in a review without giving too much away, but I will say I loved the twists and reveals - just when I thought I knew what was happening, it twisted away from me again.

Did some of it feel OTT and impossible? Absolutely yes. Did it detract from my enjoyment? Absolutely no! A great read.

The Woman On The Ledge is my last book of 2023 and what a book to go out on!!
A woman has fallen off the top of a building, who is she, how has she fallen? Tate Kinsella has been arrested for the murder, she is a temp in the building and the police have decided she is to blame and the more Tate denies any part in the murder the more the police want to sink there teeth in.
I’m not going to go into this book as this is definitely the less you know the better. I set off reading this thinking, yeah, yeah, yeah, I know exactly where this is going, I know who did it, who the woman who was murdered is, I’ll give it a couple of chapters and I’ll knock it on the head but boy I could not be more wrong, this took twists I never ever would have seen coming. This is a very cleverly written crime/murder book that I couldn’t put down. I can’t wait to see where Ruth Mancini takes us on her next book.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.

This was a very clever, complicated story, that kept me totally enthralled. Some really good characters and it all seemed so real, that I kept my fingers crossed that it would work! Great story telling.

The Woman on the Ledge is a gripping story where, just as you think you’ve got on top of the twists, another one appears! We’re following Tate, who stops a woman jumping off the top of a multi-storey building in central London, but then finds herself embroiled in a murder investigation! As Tate speaks to a solicitor, it soon becomes clear that all is not as it seems with her story…

I really enjoyed the back-and-forth throughout this novel; we’re taken from the present day back to the time leading up to the ‘incident’, unpacking more and more about what really happened. Just as I thought I’d worked out what was going on, there was another twist waiting for me.

The book manages to be gripping without being overdramatic. I liked reading about the characters, though I often felt like the main character Tate is holding other characters, and the reader to some extent, at a distance – but it soon becomes apparent why!

I don’t want to give too much away about the plot but I raced through The Woman on the Ledge and would highly recommend it!

A woman falls to her death from the top of a tall office block in London Tate Kinsella, a temp working in the building is arrested. And from that point nothing is quite what it seems!

This is a phenomenal thriller which grabs you from the start and never let's go. As I read I had absolutely no idea where the book was taking me, but I was happy to go along for the ride. The writing is brilliant and the story is expertly plotted and as the truth is unravelled there were so many twists I didn't know if I was coming or going. It's difficult to discuss more without giving anything away, I've read almost 200 books so far this year and this is in my top 3.

Received this book as part of a book club on Facebook. Having never heard of this author before, and loving the premise of the story I couldn't wait to read.
The story begins with the main character, Tate Kinsella, being arrested for murder of a woman who had fallen from a high storey building. The story follows Tates account of what happened, or does it?
I loved the way the story changed and was set bow and 6 months in the past . The wise was great, but wasn't a normal twist as it became apparent purposely, about half way through. I felt it was a bit repetitive at times and some of it, especially toward the end was a bit OTT, but, I did enjoy it and would definitely read more from this author!

When the police storm into Tate Kinsella's flat the night after her office Christmas party, it is clear that she knows something about what happened, but is she telling the truth?

This was a twisty and gripping thriller that kept me hooked and guessing all the way through. Superbly intricate plotting going backwards and forwards in the timeline, unfolding the story brilliantly with lots of secrets and reveals along the way.

Highly recommended if you are in the mood for a twisty one!

5 stars from me. This book kept me gripped from the start. Plot twists and emotional twists all the way through. Loved the way the story unfolded bring the characters together with the Sins of the past and present. Think this book might have started me on a different reading journey.

Truly a book of two halves. First, it is a fast -paced thriller, starting with an arrest for murder with a legal drama as the murderer tells her solicitor what happened. Then the second part tells the truth.

This is a clever and ambitious tale, mostly told in the first person from the perspective of the accused. She claims that she met the victim the week before at a party where she planned to take her own life, but she managed to talk her down, only to discover that she jumped from the ledge a few days later. The story doesn't add up and it seems that only the solicitor notices these subtle clues. Sure in the confidentiality protocol, the real motives and events are revealed. Here new characters are introduced and the past is accessed and the story is a slower pace although there are some disturbing aspects.

A carefully plotted and complex book about power over the self as well as others, obsession and revenge. Original, exciting and borders on being a little far-fetched at times, until the levels of intense desire for justice and indemnity are taken into account. A long read but it does seem like two books. Recommended.

I loved this book!!! The storyline was just so clever - I was like 'ahh okay I know where this is going' and then bam there was a twist that I hadn't seen coming. And the twists just kept on coming right until the end!!

Our main character Tate (Tee) looked as though she was going to get the blame for everything, but as the story unfolded it became very clear that not everything was as it seemed. She was a likeable character and I really enjoyed the fact the the book was in most part set out with her explaining what had happened to her lawyer. Every now and again it would go back to the fact that they were having a conversation and I'd be like - oh yeah, I'd forgotten that!

There was one part where the storyline was building up to reveal a person that had done something and I was convinced who we were leading towards, I was so shocked when it was revealed that I was wrong! This had me gripped and I couldn't put it down - I needed to find out what had actually happened.

Buckle up, this is a hell of a ride and I loved it!

If you like the psychological crime thrillers where you don't know if you're coming or going, and where everything you are certain of in one chapter is ripped away from you and completely re-moulded into an entirely different truth, check out 'The Woman on the Ledge'.

In the first section, Tate Kinsella is at her work Christmas party when she spots a woman sitting on the edge of a roof with nothing to save her if she falls. Tate manages to talk her down and the two strike up a casual friendship, drinking wine and heading into the night. The next day, Tate's new friend Helen calls her and says that she's lost a valuable diamond earring at the party - the two women sneak back into the office to look for it. In the time taken for Tate to come back down from the 25th floor, Helen has disappeared - and there's a body at the bottom of the building. No prizes for guessing who it is

Tate finds herself under suspicion - and the more she protests her innocence, the more the police think she has something to hide.

And then there's a twist. And they keep coming in an unstoppable tidal wave of plot twists that is so neatly put together I don't know where to begin. It is sharp, compelling reading and an exceptionally good psychological thriller that I was already recommending to people before I'd finished it!

Well this one had me guessing all the way through and then finding out I was wrong. I was very engaged, and it is a real page turner because I wanted to know what next...
There are Twists a plenty and a fluid style of writing that flows well and takes you well into the night.
I'm still not sure how I feel about Tate Kinsella she slightly freaks me out to be honest but that added something a bit extra to the story.
So why only 4.5 stars- well I did feel that it was also a bit of a stretch to believe. I won't give anything away by saying any more.
Definitely I'd recommend reading this as the build up and the slow reveal through the book are very gripping.

Such a compulsively clever psychological thriller that changes direction and knocks you for six! I don’t think I have read a thriller before that does such a u-turn. At the same time the characters are well written and likeable..It touches on grooming and under age abuse which may be a trigger, but the ending is very satisfying. For me it was that cliche, a real page turner and different. I really enjoyed it and will recommend.

I've not read anything from this author before, but would in the future after reading this.
A twisty psychological thriller, with twists, turns and a substantial main character in Tate who must prove innocence.
Very engaging, enjoyable read.

What a fascinating, exciting, confusing and enthralling concoction this is. At times it left me frustrated and bewildered but it is so well written that I had to keep going. The story is told and retold of the eponymous woman who falls or is pushed from the ledge and the array of characters involved is mind-boggling. An impressive debut.

This is a very fast paced thriller and my review probably won’t do it justice. It is basically the story of a woman who falls from a building and how and why she did. The story has more twists and turns than a roundabout and just as you think you are sure you know the ending another one jumps up. All the characters were believable although some we not very nice but that made the book better in my opinion.

I will definitely read more from this author in the future
