Christmas At The Cat Café by Jessica Redland is the most wonderful contemporary festive offering that I just could not get enough of. I think Jessica Redland wrote her book just for me! I am a crazy cat lady who also has fibromyalgia. I like nothing better than to be surrounded by cats whilst wearing cat themed clothing! I talk to every cat I meet. I adored all of our cats and miss those who are now running free over Rainbow Bridge.
Christmas At The Cat Café spoke to my heart and soul. I ‘lived’ the role of the lead character. My heart broke at one stage and tissues were definitely needed!
Another thing that helped me step into the role was the cats’ names. I too, had a Smudge and a Marmalade. Sadly, now both are running free over Rainbow Bridge.
I identified with the lead character and the way she viewed fibromyalgia. She echoes everything that I feel and do about the very misunderstood fibromyalgia. I see myself with brain fog, aching limbs, restless limbs and more. Hopefully after Jessica Redland’s marvellous book, more people will have an understanding of fibro.
It takes a village to raise a child. It takes a family and friends to show love, support and help to the leading lady, to lift her up when her strength is gone, and to support her unique needs.
There is the theme of dreams. We need to pursue our dreams but also know when they need tweaking.
I absolutely cannot praise this book highly enough. I am sad that it is ended. Please, please, please Jessica Redland, can we have a sequel? I want to know what happens next.
I received a free copy via Rachel’s Random Resources for a blog tour. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I love cats and currently own 3 of them
I would love to visit a cat cafe one day. I loved reading about the different cats and their breeds and personalities.
Tabby suffers from Fibromyalgia, which she is trying to keep a secret from her family and friends. It soon becomes apparent that she can't hide it anymore and it threatens to stop her from opening the Cat Cafe.
As someone who suffers from Chronic long term illness, it can be all consuming and threaten to take over your life. It was good to hear how Tabby tried to cope. I hope that this book highlights the everyday difficulties of long term illness to the readers.
This book is set in Castle Street, I haven't read all of the Castle Street books yet, but this book can be read as a standalone novel.
This is an emotional and engaging read. I really enjoyed reading it.
Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood books for my ARC.
A super book for cat fans. I loved the setting of the book being in a cat cafe, I've always wanted to visit one and now I may just have to. I also was interested in reading about the lead characters struggles with fibromyalgia, a condition that seems to on the rise yet little known about it in reality. Well written.
I loved this book! A book about Christmas, cats and a fabulous set of characters made this a book that I will read many times.
Tabby had a vision to open a café and feature cats. She was on a path to making this happen with the help of Leon. What a shock she got when he decided that the Cat Café was more her dream than his and he heads for the door leaving Tabby to wonder how things will happen now. She has health issues she has not been completely honest with her family about and now she knows the time has come to let them know how things are really going with her health.
She has a lot of back up to help her and one of them is a lifelong friend.
This has a lot happening in the story and I am glad I read it.
Thank you NetGalley, Jessica Redland and Boldwood Books for the copy of
Christmas at the Cat Café. This is my personal review.
I’d not heard of this author before picking up this book so wasn’t sure what to expect. I had hoped, based on the cover, for a sweet Christmas read, unfortunately, that was not the case.
While I appreciated that the main character has a chronic medical condition and the author tried to explain this condition to the reader, at times it felt like I was being lectured to, or reading a textbook.
I did not find the main character at all likeable, not even a little bit. All she does is whine, and it is so off putting. She has a chronic medical condition, and while I would expect her to complain about the pain, she throws a pity party for every single small inconvenience and it just gets tiring as a reader.
This is meant to be a romance, and while there are slight romance vibes at the very end of the book, the rest is romance free. There are a lot of randomly added Celine Dion songs in this book, in sections that make no sense.
The pacing was off for me, and I had to force myself to finish this book.
Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book in return for my honest review.

Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.
Another great read from Jessica.
Tabby has always dreamed of working with cats. Following receiving her inheritance from her nanna she decided to open a cat cafe on Castle street with her boyfriend Leon.
Leon leaves and doesn’t know when he will return, if he ever will. Christmas is fast approaching and Tabby wants to open the cafe as soon as possible. It seems like it will never happen when her health issue hinders her plans. She is forced to take the help offered for her family and friends. Will she make the cafe work on her own or will she decide it’s not worth all the stress as someone seems determined that she won’t succeed and obstacles are put in her way.

Christmas at the cat cafe by Jessica Redland
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Fun Christmas read!! 🎅
Brothers best friend troupe & about cats, who wouldn’t love it!!! 🐈⬛
It was a great read, although I did find myself skipping a few pages as I felt like it dragged on a bit! I loved how it included the main character having a chronic illness. Would have loved more in depth story but was still a good read!!!
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
At last! Cats rather than dogs. But even so, Christmas at the Cat Cafe didn't wow me. I think there was just too much discussion of Tabby's health issues. Clearly, I don't want to downplay the difficulties for real-life people living with fibromyalgia but that strand of the novel was too dominating for me.
Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
I absolutely loved reading this from start to finish.
I loved how each cat was different and their names.
Tabby has help from her family and friends to do what she’s dreamed of, which is to open a cat cafe.
It was interesting reading about fibromyalgia and how it affects Tabby in her daily life. Readers that have this will relate to Tabby.
I highly recommend this book.
Its tabbys dream to open a cat cafe with her boyfriend leon only just as she signs for the new shop he decide to tale a job on a cruise ship for 2 months promising to come back and join tabby for opening the cafe.
Tabby suffers with fibromialga and has been keeping it from her family and is struggerling to get the cafe together just as leon decides hes not coming back ever.
tabbys family help her out and a close family freind comes to her rescue when she is his having flare ups and cant work.
Tabby and Tom realise they have feelings for each other just as tabbys realise she cannot run the cafe when she is unwell.
Love jessica redland books this one was just as good covers long standing illness love a heartbreak vandalism and christmas all in one
Lovely to be back on Castle Street and yes the Cat Cafe fits in very well with all and everyone who works there. I would love to have more cats but at our age, no, I haven't forgotten how our three changed there characters when we lost my Mum, I would hate to see that happen again to more loving kitties. I also live with 24/7 chronic pain. Anyway, this is a fab book and I hope Jessica can squeeze more tales of the area. Well done, worth 5 stars.
Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this ARC
Like many of Jessica Redland’s earlier books, this story is set in the fictional seaside town of Whitsborough Bay. I always enjoy meeting up with familiar characters in a book, and this one has many of those. The story returns to the town’s Castle Street with its independent shops selling all manner of goods, the owners forming a friendly community. The book is set in the run-up to Christmas, when the street is decorated with twinkling lights and marvellous window displays. This is where the Cat Cafe of the title is to be established by the story’s heroine. Having an allergy to cats, I have never visited a cat cafe, so I was interested to read about how they work, knowing that Jessica Redland would have done her research well as always.
The central character in this story is pastry chef Tabby, a young lady with a great love of cats, as evidenced by the 16 she currently has living with her. An inheritance has allowed her to buy a property on Castle Street in Whitsborough Bay where she can realise her dream of opening a cat cafe. The building has retail space and a flat above, where she intends to live with her boyfriend who will help her run the cafe. Unbeknown to her family, Tabby suffers from a health issue which, due to its nature, would make it almost impossible for her to run the business without help. When her boyfriend backs out of the venture and the relationship, Tabby is warmed to find that family and friends step up to help. In the face of many obstacles along the way, and with particular support from good friend Tom, can Tabby make her dream come true and have the business up and running in time for Christmas?
This book is going to be a popular purchase for cat lovers, who I’m sure would love to find it in their stockings this Christmas. I found it really interesting to read about the trials and tribulations associated with opening the cat cafe. It was heartening to witness again the sense of community in Whitsborough Bay as people rallied around to help Tabby when she was struggling. The author has dealt sensitively with a difficult subject regarding Tabby’s health condition; I certainly learned a lot about the effect it has on sufferers. I loved the determination in Tabby to forge ahead in the face of all obstacles and also the growing realisation of the true friend, and perhaps more, that she had in Tom. I found it heart-warming that he was willing to put his life on hold to help her. I’m not sure if we will meet Tabby and Tom again in future books from this author, but I would like to find out how their lives progress.
Christmas at the Cat Café is a feel-good romance that will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride.
This book is purr-fect for any bookworm who is obsessed or loves cats. If you aren't a fan of cats or books that feature animals, then this book might be a pass for you because Tabby's cats play a central role in the story. Christmas at the Cat Café is a more serious and heartfelt story. This book isn't really a lighthearted and fluffy read. And even though I was expecting something a bit more lighthearted, I ended up falling in love with the emotional story that Jessica created. Jessica shines a light on what it is like for someone to live with Fibromyalgia and how it can affect every aspect of their lives. There are some darker and emotional moments in this book when Tabby just feels overwhelmed with the chronic pain she is living with. I thought Jessica did a masterful job of showing readers what it's like for someone to live with Fibromyalgia. She also shows how important it is for those suffering from Fibromyalgia to have a great support system around them. I loved how Tabby's family and friends were there for her. They never underplayed her illness as something that she is exaggerating. Their conditional support and understanding just made my heart melt.
This book is a love letter to those cat lovers out there. I felt this instant connection with Tabby because of her love for her furry friends. Tabby's interaction with her furry babies reminded me of my relationship with Minnie (my cat). I loved the made-up conversations Tabby has with her cats and how she knows each cat has their distinct personality. As a reader, I also appreciated the cat guide at the beginning of the book, listening to all the cats that Tabby has living with her. It helped me keep track of who was who.
The romance in this book is a sweet, friends-to-lovers love story. Tabby and Tommy just felt right together. I loved how understanding and supportive Tommy was. He cared for Tabby when she was having a bad day and never once made her feel like she was a burden because of her illness. Tommy learned about Fibromyalgia and how he could best support Tabby. When he offered to help wash her hair, my heart just swooned. I enjoyed those sweet moments between these two, and I wanted to keep reading because I needed to know when they would finally realize their feelings for each other.
Christmas at the Cat Café is a heartfelt emotional story about finding out what truly makes you happy.
I love books by Jessica Redland and this was no exception. She is able to capture my interest immediately with her delightful, diverse characters and always has interesting, relevant storylines. I especially appreciated this book as a person living with a serious, chronic, invisible illness. The description of living that life was done realistically and honestly. Christmas at the Cat Café is a new stand alone novel from Jessica Redland. It features Tabby, who is working hard to open her dream cat cafe, but facing a whole host of challenges in her personal life. With a boyfriend who has jumped ship (quite literally) and a recent diagnosis of fibromyalgia, Tabby must accept some home truths to make her dream a success.
Fantastic to be back in Castle Street and to see some mentions of the characters from previous books. Strong, well developed characters and a good storyline. There is a strong community feel and a good network of family and friends. I enjoyed all the different characters of the cats and the concept of a cat cafe which I don’t have a lot of knowledge.
Tabby as a main character was strong , even though she has health issues. I loved how she remained strong and dwelt with what life threw at her, along with her fantastic support system . When she let them in !
A book I would highly recommend, even though I’m not a cat person. Hopefully we will get more from Castle Street in the future
Thank you to Netgalley, Boldwood Books, and Jessica Redland for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review
This is one of my favourite authors and I couldn’t wait to start reading this. This was so much more than a cosy Christmas read and the story really pulled at your heart strings and emotions and the author also brought hidden illnesses and how they can affect the suffer to the surface and as someone who has the condition mentioned in the book it was good to see attention and awareness about it brought out into the open in a very sensitive and heartfelt way.
This was a standalone read but also features characters of castle street from other books so if you are a regular fan of this author you will enjoy being reunited with characters from the past.
Really enjoy this authors work and have enjoyed her previous series. This novel was just as good! Christmas, family friends and cats what’s not too love! Look forward to more in the series
I loved all the cats in here with their personalities. The ending was not easily guessed for me and I really liked that too. There is this fuzzy, cozy feeling throughout the book even with some drama it was not heavy on the angst. The characters are relatable and charming.
Included in here:
- Living with chronic pain
- Friends to lovers
- Closed door romance
- Supportive family and friends
- New business struggles
A huge thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC.
