Love this series and I have from the very first. Micky Knight is a flawed but good character. She works hard for those she feels need help. I so hope she and Cordelia get back together.
I have to say upfront that Micky Knight is my favourite lesbian detective. I’ve followed her journey from book one and regularly reread them. Micky irritates me, infuriates me, has me shaking my head on many occasions, but through it all, I just want to give her a hug. The character is so well written and has developed so credibly over the eleven adventures, that I can only applaud the skill of Ms Redmann. This plot is very on the zeitgeist of the moment.
On her way home from the pub, Micky witnesses a hit and run. But she’s convinced it’s no accident. The victim is a black trans woman and Micky soon finds out that there’s people lower on the totem than she is. This means Micky has to step up and try to find out the truth. We meet the usual gang from the other books though only briefly. The new characters add a great deal of depth to the storytelling. Especially Dottie and Desiree. But the whole narrative is tightly wound and each thread only really comes together at the very end. It is a satisfying and beautifully created finale, and already I’m looking forward to book twelve. I hope Ms Redmann is typing quickly.
It’s hard to say why this character has embedded herself in my psyche but I’m cool with it. I was given a copy of this book by NetGalley
Transitory is a book by the gifted and talented writer, J.M. Redmann.
The book focuses on the death of black transwoman, and all the supporting characters make an appearance such as, Joanne and Torbin. The writing is brilliant as usual, it's always fun following Mickey as she uncovers clues. It's always a joy to read about New Orleans.
I highly recommend this book. It's a great read!
