This was a very quick read and the romance happened just as quick. Allie needs to travel to the Bahamas to burry her dad’s ashes under the sea. Luckily his daughter used to date a diver so she can now dive herself just as easily. And there there’s Kate, a billionaire who changed her name, is hiding from the press although everyone knows where she is and her new name. She’s in constant communication with her dead wife and has a pet pig. There’s a information dump at the beginning, no suspense as to why Kate is in hiding and the epilogue is timed strangely for me. The plot feels rushed and the romance is so sudden it feels forced. I have read Toni Logan’s books before I will do so in the future but this one just missed the mark for me.

Allie grown up working in her parents diner that has been struggling when her father dies he had one request for her to go Bahamas with specific coordinates to fulfill his wishes. Kate aka Suzanne Bennett who comes from money who wanted to get away from it and the scandals she was causing decides to live her life quietly wife her Brooke who help overcome everything and they build all women resort in the Bahamas. When her wife dies unexpectedly she becomes a shell of herself and when Allie come to her resort they get off on the wrong foot because Kate thinks she hiding something. Kate doesn’t want to open her heart and Allie doesn’t thinks she good enough I like how the author deal with grief opening yourself up and learning you are worthy but as much I like the characters I didn’t by the romance because it felt rush and we didn’t really get to invest I did enjoy Carla who is there for Kate and Mika who’s acts grumpy but you know she cares but the pet Gimzo had me laughing with his shenanigans.

Rich girl/poor girl, unexpected feelings and all of that on a gorgeous tropical island. This was my first Tony Logan book and it will certainly not be my last. Her writing transformed my mind into a paradise and enveloped my heart in an abundance of love.

Allie is stuck. Stuck in her dead end job at the struggling family diner and stuck in her life. She dreams of a different life in which she has purpose and a loving partner by her side. It’s not like those changes will ever happen because, yes she is stuck, and she lacks all financial security to do something different. On top of all that her father just died and saddles her with a ridiculous last wish.

Kate Williams grew up as Suzanne Bennett, heir to a billion dollar company and spoiled rich girl. After years of alcohol and substance abuse she cleans up her act with the help of the love of her life Brooke. She changes her name to live a life in anonymity. Together they built an all women resort in the Bahamas. When Brooke dies unexpectedly, Kate’s heart is left in a zillion pieces. She retreats and lives life in a state of numbness. That is until Allie turns up at her remote island. Will Kate have the strength to open her heart once more?

Logan does an amazing job at putting Kate’s inner turmoil into words. You can feel the depth of her heartbreak and grief. It makes her into a realistic character. The way Allie struggles with feelings of being not enough is painful and makes you wish you could help her see her worth. The descriptive imagery transports you to the tropics. As a reader you feel the sand between your toes and the remarkable peace of underwater serenity.

The resorts manager Carla and her role as a good friend to Kate and the grumpy elderly Mila as the head chef lead the cast of side characters with their quirks and distinct personalities. The star of the show is undeniably pet pig Gizmo with her kleptomaniac tendencies. Gizmo’s shenanigans caused me to laugh out loud on more than one occasion.

Unexpectedly Yours is a heartfelt story of grief and finding love again. A wonderful read!

3.5⭐ Allie Aukai and her family have always struggled with money. When he dad dies, his last wish is to be buried at certain coordinates in the Bahamas, based on an old family story. When Allie reluctantly makes the trip, she runs afoul with the owner of the private island at the all-women resort. Kate Williams was born a billionaire heiress and has changed her name and decided to live a quiet, mostly secluded life on her family's private island.

This book had a few problems for me. The beginning was a bit slow, which I can deal with, but the romance felt unrealistic. Allie and Kate only spent a day or two together, and they didn't interact enough for me to believe in their romance.

I did like Gizmo, Brooke, and Mila though. I'm rounding up my rating for Gizmo. 😂😂😂

Allie Aukai lives in CA and has grown working in her parents diner. To fulfill her father’s dying wish she goes to a small resort on a private cay in the Bahamas. Suzanne Bennett, an heiress, created the resort with her wife who has passed away unexpectedly a few years ago. There is a spark between the two when they meet, but there is also suspicion on Bennett’s part. She is concerned that Allie is at first press or paparazzi and later possibly a treasure hunter. She likes her privacy and the safety of her island.

There is an information dump giving the characters backgrounds. And of course they each have a standard confidant. But the romance doesn’t work for me much. Without going back and counting I think Bennett has more conversations, real or imagined, with her dead wife Brooke, than she has with Allie before they get together. Google searching isn’t the same as sharing backgrounds. I knew this was going to be an instant attraction romance as Allie is only scheduled to be on the island for a week. The jump to the L word feels rushed and the misunderstanding easily predictable. The ending feels abrupt, tying up with an epilogue. The story on the whole seems formulaic. It is nice for a quick escapism read but not a favorite I will read again and again.

Logan is a writer I’ve read and enjoyed before and I will look for her next book written as Logan or her alternate Piper Jordan. Thank you to NetGalley and Bold Strokes Books for the ARC and I am leaving a voluntary review.

Allie and Suzanne AKA Kate have both needed up on a small Bahama island. Kate’s been hiding and grieving while Allie has a task her father wanted her to do.
Once Allie arrives though these two clash a bit as Kate fears that Allie is there to gather information on her due to her previous life.
After some snooping and finally asking Kate realizes she may have overreacted and begins to show Allie the wonders of the ocean as Allie completes her fathers task.
These is a very light quick and easy read.

What a sweet story. I didn't know this author, but I will be looking for more stories from her.. Kate (her new name) was a trust fund baby that sort of crashed and burned out. With the help of a counselor, she got on the right track again. With that counselor, she fell in love and was blissfully happy until Brook died. Then she stopped being happy again. Allie came to the island to bury her father's ashes and they started to fall in love, but after a betrayal, she left and went back home. Kate finally got the nerve to go after her and there was finally an HEA. There were alot of great characters in the story - Carla and Mila were the best of all. A very good story

The description for Unexpectedly Yours along with the cover invited me to read this book set on one of the Bahamian islands. The story didn’t quite live up to the beautiful description and relaxing cover though. The two main characters, Kate and Allie, hardly spent any substantial time together so that their chemistry could develop. I feel that was a major flaw in this book. The reader is expected to set aside that Kate and Allie hardly know each other, with their backstory mainly provided by their own inner dialogue.

On a positive note I did enjoy Gizmo and her antics. For an improvement, never name your two main characters after the leads from a 1980’s CBS sitcom. 3 stars

Who wouldn't love to visit an all women's resort in the Bahamas, but this book didn't do it for me. I enjoyed the premise and the characters had depth. I feel like Kate had more than Allie. Overall, not a bad book, but not my favorite.

Kate changed her name and moved to the Bahamas to get away from all the negativity of being a heiress brought her, not to mention her own mistakes. She opened the resort with her partner who she lost tragically and hasn't been with anyone since.

Allie works for her family's failing diner and goes to the Bahamas to honor her dad's final wishes to bury him at sea, but she doesn't want to do it. Her mom insists and so she goes and meets Kate.

They do not hit off, but there's an instant spark when they meet, but I didn't feel it. They moved super quickly and there was a lot of miscommunication. There wasn't a ton of interaction between them and when there was it felt rushed.

I enjoyed the pig and the other characters like Carla more than I cared for the MC's most of the time.

I hated the abrupt ending even though the epilogue semi helped fill in some of the blanks, I still couldn't wrap my head around how badly it ended, at least for me.

Allie is traveling to a remote island in the Bahamas to fulfill her father's last wish. Kate Williams is the reformed party girl heiress who owns the resort Allie is staying at for the week and is very suspicious of Allie's intentions for the trip since she's very protective of her privacy. When their initial meeting starts on the wrong foot they try to steer clear of each other but still somehow feel a pull to spend time together.

This was an interesting story, I liked both main characters and they each had well developed back stories. Kate is still getting over the death of her partner Brooke and Allie has family issues of her own to deal with alongside a failing family business back home. I liked the fun side characters on the island, especially Carla and Mila and Gizmo the pig was adorable.

I did feel like the journey to the island for both Allie and Kate was well plotted but the romance just didn't quite hit the mark for me. The pace was off from the start and then got pulled down by the formulaic break up at 85%. These two have what amounts to 3 interactions on the island, the first being a bit tense, followed by a fight. When they reunite, the 'I love yous' come out right away and it it just felt a bit rushed to me.

The end also comes a bit fast and with far less detail than we got for the backstory in the beginning so the romance ends up just feeling too easy and unbalanced to me.

I did enjoy this but I've read others by Logan that I liked a bit more. It's a good feel good romance that's low angst so if you're looking for something light to read it would likely fit the bill.

Unexpectly Yours by Toni Logan is delightful. Suzanne is unusual with a good heart, but a heavy past filled with drugs and struggle. Allie is a straightforward woman, who loves his family. Allie is the key to this book. Allies's warmth and honesty are what kept this book moving along. It helps that I love the water, boats and suba diving. I enjoyed Suzanne's character, especially once you understand the reason for being on the island. In the end, it is a great read.

Great writing with a cute story. I really enjoyed Allie as a character and her journey throughout the story. Suzanne/Kate’s character was complex. Her struggle to overcome her past love and accept a new person into her life is something that is relatable to many. Death is difficukt to overcome, especially with a partner and the author did a wonderful job explaining the conflict and complexity of those emotions. The ending felt slightly rushed but honestly it gave you the warm and fuzzies that you want at the end of a romance novel so it was worth the read.
