Another great addition to this series. It was a stand alone, so you are not lost if you haven't read any of the previous books.
Rebel does not believe that she is truly in danger from a stalker until it is almost too late.
She has been in love with her childhood friend as long as she can remember - but thinks he just has feelings of having sister for her. Little does she know he was the one that beat the crap out of her mom's current love interest when they were teenagers. Weston has always loved Rebel since they were children - but he did not want to hold her back from her dream of being a singer.
Weston's aunt's funeral beings them together again. Weston's aunt allowed Rebel to move in with her when Rebel as beaten / and possibly raped by her mom's boyfriend. Rebel needed a place to stay safe from her mom's drinking and her love interests attempting to make move on her. Weston and his aunt both always thought of Rebel as family.
Weston now own's a security firm with his friends from his military days. Weston winds up being the head of Rebel's security team, when she is in car accident. As they spend more time together they each realize that they want and need more from each other romantically.
The ending was not the person I thought was the offender / stalker. A must read.
Love Katie Reus. This book was an excellent read and I will continue to read as many of her books as I can.
I will admit I love Katie Reus and her ability to tell a complete story in a few pages. This is book 21 in Red Stone Security series. I wasn't sure how the author is able to write 21 books and while she seems to have a formula that creates a quick read with heart and love.
Thank you Netgalley.
I’ve read a lot of Katie Reus’ different series. And I love them all. The Red Stone Security serie is the serie with the least of connections between the books. Which can be handy, since the last story, Danger Rising, was already a year ago. But still, you can enjoy this one as a standalone.
The story of two high school sweathearts, who get a second chance in love, is always a good trope. And Katie gives it her own flavour with some suspense, unexpected turns and of course a hot guy. What’s not to love?
Find out for yourself in yet another great story from the Red Stone Security series! Fout out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.
This is book 21 in the Red Stone Security series and it can absolutely be read as a standalone. They’ve been friends since they were kids. Musical superstar Rebel doesn’t have many people in her life she trusts. The majority have always wanted something from her; fame, money, influence. She’s learned to keep her protective walls high, but it’s made having a real life impossible. Then a funeral sends her home and into the arms of her childhood friend who protected her from danger when they were young—the only man she’s ever truly wanted. But he’s always wanted more than friendship. Weston is stunned when Rebel shows up to his aunt’s funeral. They’ve stayed in touch over the years but he always thought she was with someone and out of his league. When he discovers she’s single, the billionaire knows it’s time to make his move. But danger strikes before he can, and keeping her safe is the only thing that matters. The threat is closer than anyone imagined, and Weston will do whatever it takes to protect the woman who stole his heart so many years ago.
I really enjoyed this story! Rebel and Weston both love each other and want the best for each other, but both are afraid of moving their relationship beyond best friends and losing each other. I really liked how this whole story plays out, complete with them both realizing that they would never find true happiness without each other. I really liked the side characters as well, and wouldn't mind some stories for them too!!
Another wonderful book by Katie Reus. Exciting story and interesting characters. I absolutely recommend to everyone who loves romance/adventure books.
This book is twenty something of the series and all I know is that I am going back to catch up! The romantic aspect of this story was the sweetest friends to lovers, lifelong pining and beautiful growth story you’ll read. The suspense aspect was also well portrayed, I didn’t peg the right person at all and lived the entire book thinking I knew who it was. The ending was well rounded, satisfying and completely swoon worthy,
It’s always a pleasure reading Katie Reus and if that story is an extension of Red Stone Security, even better for her ardent readers . “Protecting Rebel” features billionaire Weston and his childhood friend and musical start Rebel, as they come face to face after a long time. Yes, they kept in touch as they went their separate ways, but always had a connection with each other, and Weston’s aunt as the common denominator. But never confessed their feelings for each other.
Weston’s aunt funeral and a threat to Rebel, keep them in each other’s paths. Weston will move heaven and earth to keep Rebel safe, and Rebel is ready to come home to where her heart really is.
And it always is a pleasure when you hear mentions of the founders of Red Stone Security and come across agents that make appearances in various stories.
Book 21 of the Red Stone Security series is another HEA and feel good story.

Red Stone Security series is how I found Katie Reus. So, to see it grow with new books and characters to fall for, makes my heart happy, sappy and overwhelmed. Protecting Rebel is twenty-first book in this series. Every book can be read as a standalone in an interconnected series of standalones. A fantastic read and another thrilling addition to this series. Simply amazing, sexy, dangerous and captivating. The writing is engaging - keeps reader glued to pages; the storyline is brilliant, well-paced and well-written.
Rebel and Weston are sweet and swoon worthy. Their story is filled with tension, danger, a love that was born out of security when her life was uncertain, friendship and unique understanding. He is her refuge. Weston always felt very protective of Rebel and continues to be. Rebel hasn't had an easy childhood and upbringing. This leads to her meeting Weston and his aunt who basically adopted her, giving her everything what her family couldn't / lacked. After graduation, their paths separated: Weston went into military while Rebel started chasing her dreams. They rarely saw each other but kept in touch. I really loved how their relationship developed. They both have insecurities that they needed to work on in order for them to have a future. The passion between these two ran red-hot and their sizzling,off-the-charts chemistry lit the pages. The pace of the story, secondary characters added to their romance and plot. Weston and Rebel are layered, fast paced, real, emotional, dangerous with an edge and depth with an occasional banter - laugh out loud moment. Their transformation and growth throughout the book is heartwarming.
Protecting Rebel is everything I could have asked for: a healing journey, a protective hero, a vulnerable strong heroine, second chance and beautiful friends to lovers story. I inhaled the pages, was invested in drama, though frustrated at times, rooting for Weston and Rebel's HEA, and didn’t want it to end too soon. You need to start this series today. Believe me it will be your all-time favorite.

Always enjoy the books with the Red Stone Security series but you don't need to have read any books in the series to enjoy this one.
This book is packed with drama, action, betrayal and love. I could not put the book down as Weston is there to keep Rebel safe from threats against her life. I do have to say that the person behind the threats was not on my radar and a complete surprise!
I loved how Weston and Rebel's love grew and he protected her from the danger. The ending song was so moving and what a way to end the book!
They just get better and better! I don’t believe this author can write a bad book! Rebel is a star, but Weston knew she would be. Someone wants to hurt her, and this he won’t allow! Rebel has loved Weston since she was a teen, but can she allow him to be part of her messed up world?
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own
Protecting Rebel, the twenty-first book in the Red Stone Security series by Katie Reus, is rife with drama, tension, suspense, explosive chemistry, and an all-consuming romance that was years in the making. With all the different elements of the story seamlessly woven together…as Ms. Reus is an expert at doing…the story flows briskly between Rebel and Weston’s past and present culminating in an astounding and suspenseful reveal.
Weston and Rebel’s story is a welcomed addition to the Red Stone Security series.
This ARC book was complimentary…provided by the Publisher through NetGalley. I am voluntarily submitting my honest review.
Billionaire Weston is an over-protective friend with superstar singer Rebel. They’ve know each other forever and each has feelings for the other (of course), but won’t admit it. Weston is determined to keep Rebel safe through repeated harassment and attacks.
This is a good entry into the series. Weston is a little over the top, but then, I’ve never met a billionaire. Maybe this is what they’re like. I highly recommend the series to anyone who hasn’t read it!
The twenty first book in Red Stone Security, Protecting Rebel is a great read. Rebel and Weston are engaging characters and well suited in this friend to lover’s romance with the story is driven by jealousy, contempt, and love. A good overall read and one I would recommend.
Lovely easy read. Really loved the two main characters and their incredible friendship. Will they won’t they take the leap to the next level.
Katie Reus pulls out all the stops in this suspenseful romance. Filled with fast paced scenes and angst filled romance this is a great addition to the series and I look forward to the next with anticipation.
I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of Protecting Rebel through Net Galley . I found this story sensational . It's full of fantastic characters .
It's interesting and intriguing . Rebel had a horrible childhood till she found a safe place with Weston and his aunt Margaret. Rebel and Weston were best friends but both secretly had romantic feelings for each other . After graduation Weston headed to the military and Rebel became a professional singer . They are brought together in their hometown of Miami to lay aunt Margaret to rest . Rebel has a couple concerts on her tour then she's taking time off . As they spend time together Weston finds Rebel has a stalker and the danger is increasing . Weston will do whatever it takes to protect the women he has always loved . I highly recommend taking the time to read .
Thank you to Katie Reus, KR Press and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
This was a quick fun and low angst read. The book features Rebel and Weston, childhood friends whose dreams and goals took them in opposite directions, but remained close in each others lives. Each of them was crushing on the other, but never wanted to risk their friendship until things suddenly change.
While I enjoyed the book, I do wish there was more chemistry and tension between Weston and Rebel. I wasn't a huge fan of the flashback chapters and sometimes I felt their inner monologues got a bit repetitive. Besides that, I thought the main couple was very sweet together.
This book features friends to lovers trope, as well as slow burn and a famous FMC and ex military MMC. If those interest you I think this book is right up your alley!
